Fantastic experience: I’ve been attending the women’s only swimming lessons at Leyton Leisure Centre for last few months and I’m really impressed! I’ve had classes with a few amazing teachers and had a great experience with all of them. For the last three weeks, I’ve been learning with Francis, and she has truly helped me understand my flaws and develop the necessary skills to improve. Her teaching style is clear, patient, and highly supportive, making every lesson enjoyable and productive. She focuses on every learners individually, which has made a huge difference in my progress. The facilities are clean, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this is a great place to learn!!!

Negative experience: This isn't just a problem for Leyton but the whole of the Waltham Forest borough. At 15:30 there is no opportunity to go swimming with a toddler. Leyton is shut as is the kids pool at Leytonstone and there is no offering at the feel good centre. Doesn't matter that I have membership still no swimming.
Positive experience: I wish that the facilities were cleaner and that the water in the swimming pool was warmer.
Positive experience: the gyms gotten cleaner, Jamie staff member was very friendly and helped me with my workout.

Fantastic experience: Been coming to the Leyton gym for time now and I have to say it has been going through a transformation from when I first started last year. The atmosphere is also very friendly and great place to workout. The staff here are excellent especially Jamie, he’s very friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoy coming here as it now my second place away from home where I can decompress and feel alive whilst looking and feeling great.

Fantastic experience: Had a great time swimming here, my son loved the aqua play structure. Lovely staff member called Ramata was also very nice and helpful, explaining the pool layouts and opening times. I’ll have to come on the weekend next time to try the big slide!
Fantastic experience: I visited Leyton Leisure Centre not too long ago with my dad to sign him up for a membership, and I was really impressed with the experience. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and have everything you’d need, whether you’re looking to swim, use the gym, or take part in fitness classes. What really stood out to me, though, was the exceptional customer service. The receptionist, Abdelmoez, was incredibly helpful throughout the process. He took the time to explain all the membership options clearly, answered all our questions, and made sure my dad felt comfortable with everything before signing up. His friendly and professional approach made a huge difference, and it’s always nice to feel genuinely welcomed at a leisure centre. Overall, I’d highly recommend Leyton Leisure Centre to anyone looking for a great place to stay active. The staff, especially Abdelmoez, go above and beyond to provide a positive experience, and the facilities are top-notch. Looking forward to signing up my self soon!

Fantastic experience: I don’t usually leave reviews, but I wanted to come on here to say how much I appreciate that every time I come to this leisure the staff are really helpful and really friendly. I’m quite particular about hygiene and this place is very hygienic very clean. It’s always important to know that the leisure you go to is very clean. I was having difficulties with my user name on the App today and Abdul Who was working today was really helpful and helped me use it and and even explained few things for me on how to use it in the future.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t be more pleased with Laura, Hannah & Loulisa the swimming teachers at Leyton Leisure Centre. My daughter has gained so much confidence in the water and I’ve seen great improvements in her swimming skills. Laura, Hannah and loulisa are wonderful teachers who really care about their students! Fantastic experience: Process of signing up for a membership was made so much smoother today by a lovely staff member Romata, she made sure to explain fully what I can access and helped me download and set up the app! I was having second thoughts about signing up but she reassured me and ultimately sealed the deal! Place looks amazing too

Fantastic experience: Been going to this gym for the past few years and I’ve never had a problem. Always a clean gym with kind and caring staff especially Jamie. Any time a machine is broken it’s always fixed within a week which is always super helpful. Help is always given by staff and other people in the gym a real good strong community

Positive experience: Since rejoining the gym, I was a bit nervous while familiarising myself with the layout and equipment. However, all the staff have been really supportive. Particularly Jamie Shields, who is an asset to the Leyton leisure centre team. Jamie is very welcoming, friendly, charismatic and well mannered. Each time I see Jamie he is always smiling, spreading positivity and helping everyone. There is a wide range of physical activity here and I am glad I decided to kickstart my journey back to fitness with this branch.

Fantastic experience: Jamie is one off the funniest and kindest person in the gym. Genuinely a great worker, needs to praised more often and hope management see this comment and give him a raise or a promotion. I also like that they renovated the gym, as I've been coming here for 9 years and they have made it so much more spacious and added more equipment which they didn't have when I first started many years ago.

Fantastic experience: Jamie shields is a great member of staff. He helped me out with my entry when my phone wasn’t working. Very friendly and helpful. Also gives out great protein bars
Negative experience: Need a crystal ball to figure out when you are able to lane swim, and if you don't get it right, you'll have wasted your money. "Swim for all" sessions sometimes mean that one lane is left for adults, while the rest are for lessons, but sometimes it means that adults can only go in a 5 x 5 play area next to the lanes. Same problem with the "Swim for fitness" sessions, since the booking options conflict with what staff told me (no lane swimming after 4PM, all reserved for swim schools), yet on the website, it lets you book this until 5PM. I'm happy to work to a schedule, but there's no way to know until you are in the pool hall.
Negative experience: I have visited the gym one and One guy was in the stepping machine and he stayed for 30 min where me and two others waited for him to finish. Honestly soo disappointed at least let people do and go back to it if want to do more.

Fantastic experience: Solid gym with good environment, lots of machines and equipment to use. The sauna and steam was also nice. Staff were very helpful upon entry. Their names are yusuf and tasmin I believe. Good experience I am very impressed

Positive experience: Better in Waltham Forest Fitness classes are worth every penny Like most services they are only as good as their instructors and Waltham Forest is lucky to have classes led by a brilliant team of instructors: Pauline’s dance fitness classes have you moving to ol skool hip hop & RnB classics Every class & routine is different no matter how many of her classes you attend. Fatoumata is a living example of a dedicated yogi sharing her love of yoga - her dharma talks are also informative and inspiring Mike’s yoga classes give detailed asana guidance - you’ll not injure yourself in his classes and although I’ve only experienced a few of Floyd’s classes in my 20years plus of being a member his classes are popular and all of them are oversubscribed! You need to book promptly at 10pm the week before to stand a chance of getting a place on any of them. Better Waltham Forest you are lucky to have them work for you as they are worth their weight in gold!

Fantastic experience: I recently visited Leyton Leisure Centre with my son, and we had an absolutely amazing experience! The facilities are excellent, clean, and well-maintained, offering a wide range of activities for both kids and adults. Positive experience: No bars in the barre fit classes. Classes are run 3 times a week without essential equipment. Why is this the case? I find this class helps me a lot with mobility, flexibility and range of motion but I’m only getting half the experience. I have brought this to attention using emails and feedback forms but it’s simply ignored so I’m now resorting to public reviews to draw attention to the issue.

Positive experience: While the swimming session itself was good, the experience was almost ruined by an extremely ill-mannered individual who claimed the changing room as her own while she showered. Her behavior was nothing short of horrible—aggressive and completely inappropriate. She forced me to move from the changing room, even though her actions were clearly against the changing room policy. The club urgently needs to display the rules regarding changing room use asap, as incidents like this highlight a lack of awareness and consideration among some members. It's disappointing to encounter such selfishness and ignorance in what should be a welcoming space for everyone. I would like to extend my gratitude to the kind sister who helped me and my baby move amidst this unpleasant situation. Her support was greatly appreciated.

Negative experience: Systems don’t work, customers face issues for months on end and nothing gets done. Old equipment not properly maintained. Go elsewhere. EDIT: I have read the response below and will remove the review as soon as I see evidence that myself and other members are not locked out of the club on a regular basis because your systems do not work. Members I spoke to today (8/11/24) are not using the facilities they are paying for as it’s too much effort to correct these issues.

Negative experience: The showers have been cold for more than 2 months now. Staff appear unable to get this fixed and most of the time when asked they can't answer as to whether the issue is resolved, the answer is "try and let me know" so complaining to reception is completely pointless.

Negative experience: The older grey haired white lady who does the children’s swimming lessons has an awful attitude especially with the kids. We won’t be coming again to do lessons, after 3 years of enjoying her lessons my daughter was almost reduced to tears by this woman’s Victorian attitude to teaching. She shouts, she’s rude, there’s no positivity or encouragement towards the children. I will make a complaint to the management and take further steps. Her behaviour is verging on bullying.

Negative experience: Extremely rude and unprofessional staff. Today at 1.50 I got back to my car EARLY after having paid for 3 hrs parking. My parking time ends at 3.28pm. A staff member from this leisure centre approached me rudely and said excuse me is this your car. You could have parked more closer on the left side. I said to her “no i couldnt have because there was another car parked on my right”. She carried on barking rudely at me and i told her “you need to listen to me: there was another car on my right so you still wouldnt have been able to fit your car on my left (my left side had slightly more space than what was ideal but nothing drastically spacious). Then she told me *she was staff*showing her uniform off. First of all, HOW UNPROFESSIONAL AND HOW RUDE!! Secondly, there was a free space on my right by the time i got back- why didn’t she park there? Why was she arguing with me over my spot which i PAID for!! There was no sign that this is staff parking only either so what was her problem I actually wanted to bring my family for a swimming session in the holidays but I definitely wont be anymore!! Your staff need to sort out their attitude!! This was an India/Hindu woman with hair upto her shoulder. Short and small in structure. If she had told me, this is only for customers I could have understood but they literally had so many free spaces and I paid for my parking. The lesiure centre is making extra money but their staff are so rudddee!!

Fantastic experience: This is my local leisure centre. Lots of different fitness classes to try. All instructors are friendly and approachable. Good size pool, excellent for Aqua aerobics. Plenty of natural light in the fitness studio as well as by the swimming pool. Changing rooms get dirty at busy times. Helpful staff at reception desk. Very reasonable membership price. Keep up the good work!

Negative experience: This pool is just across from where we live so we are regulars here with our child who loves playing in water and learning to swim on his own because it's just so easy for us to access. However... facilities are not so great. The changing area and toilets are always dirty, there are always long wait for showers because at least one will not work and another will only have ice cold water running. Also If you go as family with kids there, there are only 3 larger changing cabins which sometimes get occupied for hours by same people, leaving their things inside with a family member to keep it while others finish their swimming session. The hair dryers always have issues too. Ihave never seen them all working. At least one will be broken and there are only 3. The pool is very small already which makes it even smaller when half of it is taken by swimming lessons and it's ALWAYS overcrowded to the point you can't even swim you just go and sit in there because it's too packed to swim around. We tend to book family fun mostly so we could take our floats and there would be more space with no swimming lessons in place but it doesn't make difference because it will still be overcrowded. Pool is dirty due to overcrowding too, will always see some dirt and old wristbands floating in it. And last time we had particularly bad experience with a staff member who told us that we cannot take our float inside the pool even thought it was family fun session. She was telling it to everyone and all the kids were upset because noone has ever told off to peoppe on family sessions about floats. So she was walking there Like a dog guarding everyone making sure they don't take their floats in the water and I noticed the min she left other were bringing their floats in so kids could enjoy and no other staff member had an issue with it becauee there are never enough floats of what they offer to public from their side. I give this 2 stars because it's our local pool and most of the staff members are friendly and nice but apart from that I wouldn't recommend anyone to travel here from far to use it becauee you will be very disappointed.

Negative experience: The leisure centre in Leyton High Road is frankly disappointing. Badly managed. They overbook the pool, making ir difficult to use when it’s crowded. The same with sauna and steamer. One of the showers has been broken for at least six months, and nobody has done anything about it. Sometimes there is no hot water. A couple of the locks in the dressing cubicles are broken, nothing has been done. The staff do their best to keep it going, they are very kind, but the centre obviously lacks proper management.

Negative experience: I know it's not the fault of the local centre, but I'm giving better 1 star for their absolutely rubbish App and online booking system and for not having any way of contacting them over the phone. The fact that you can't book in the centre and have to do it on line is ridiculous. The app is just the worst experience imaginable to try to book family activities. I can't begin to imagine how some one with learning disabilities or an old person is supposed to negotiate this mess. I'm not sure whether the response below is AI generated or not, no way to respond so I'm editing my comment. "please don't hesitate to reach out" to our "telephone support scheme".... this is disingenuous without posting the phone number / extension to speak to a human on the phone.

Positive experience: Brilliant swimming pool, nice staff. But appalling changing facilities. Needs updating! No disabled changing facilities. One suppose “disabled” shower room right next to the other showers, open for everyone to use so that’s what was happening, and had to queue for some time to use it while my son was very distraught because it was so busy. and then learnt that the shower head was broken so had to hold it as I showered my son. Very busy, loud and overwhelming changing rooms. Not enough showers, 1 was out of order. It’s a shame as my son who has autism really enjoyed the swimming experience and the big slide (which was operated very well) but had such a traumatic time in the changing rooms we won’t be returning.. very disappointed!

Negative experience: Absolutely appalling. My husband and I took our 14 month old for a session on Monday afternoon and one of the staff kept yelling, roughly every 10mins to remind us our session was soon over, for the whole hour. She startled the baby multiple times, we felt so unwelcome and to add to that my husband caught her on her phone numerous times not watching the pool! When we asked a lifeguard, we were told her name was Kayla, management definitely needs to take a closer look at this. We thought we found the perfect centre for our baby.

Negative experience: Avoid during weekend! It might look like swimming in the lane, but it's very shallow.. We had some fun, but it was impossible to properly swim. You need to pay extra for Sauna..

Negative experience: I used to really like bringing my kids here but after today and seeing the state of the place I've changed my mind...dirt and blue broken off floor sponge all under the slide and in the bottom of baby pool(aqua play) floating around paper and paper wristbands all over the sides just left there.so not impressed with it won't be returning until it's clean

Negative experience: Lovely little aqua park for toddlers with slides and toys . Marred by dirt. Used tissues and food wrappers on structures around flume visible and close to pool, and c hi nos of carpet and lots of small stones and grit on pool floor around slides. Generally grimy.

Negative experience: I think the centre is nice, two things I don't like, firstly too many kids in the free weights area creating safety issues, secondly I was in the sauna last week there was 10 people in a 8ft by 10ft room, 3 people had wrist bands, a tiny eastern European lady staff popped her head in didn't check or prompt people properly, most just had a swim band, it is a health and safety issue when it becomes crowded and life guards are 20 seconds away, it takes 10 seconds to check,

Fantastic experience: Good swimming pool and sauna. Clean place and clean toilets. Showers are a bit cold though! Disabled friendly for my mother. Swimming guard James very friendly and helpful. He used a hoist to lower my mobility impaired mother into the swimming pool. Sauna is clean and hot. But not allowed to use own oils as an aerosol incase someone has an allergy. Downside is place gets very busy. So if you are flexible with booking timetable then should be okay. Reception very friendly and helpful. And most of the bookings done via the better health app. Good place.

Negative experience: Too overcrowded. 2 out of 3 pools were closed due to being full. People's time limits were not enforced, and there were sandals everywhere, which made me trip over!
