Positive experience: Time to cancel my membership. Price has gone up yet again however the facilities at the gym are in need of drastic update. Save your money.

Negative experience: In studio 2 9.30-10am Monday - music unnecessarily loud in studio one - disturbing the Pilates class in studio 2

Negative experience: Member of staff was unhelpful (Luke) and policies are poor. Member for 3+ years, had a friend on joint membership too. Friend had to move so wanted to replace with my dad. Was told I couldn’t as was in contract so would have to wait till the end of my friends notice period, meantime my dad would have to pay a full membership (I get 20% discount). No help was forthcoming and anyone who knows anything about contractual law (clearly not Luke) knows contracts can be changed if agreement found by both parties, clearly weren’t willing to help. So now they have two members less, grats on the terrible handling of this situation! Other members of staff were friendly though. In terms of equipment and experience - they removed the spa yet increased prices, steam room and sauna work temperamentally at best. Weights are good though, gets crowded upstairs though in busy times as smaller lifting area. Wouldn’t recommend, find a better gym if you’re reading this!

Negative experience: Class`s need a total restructure All targeted at same old group Les Mills but from 10 years ago, same playlists over and over Same old instructors all female No enthusiasm at all

Fantastic experience: Plenty of parking, friendly welcome from reception staff, clean changing rooms, spacious showers, decent equipment levels on gym floor.

Fantastic experience: It was busy this evening, but it was enjoyable just the same.

Negative experience: Rubbish.

Negative experience: Full to the brim of thieves so be very careful with your belongings. Upon seeking support with the belonging I left behind I was navigated with a nonchalant and childish attitude. I had to phone the gym back an hour later having heard nothing regarding the belonging.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic facillities, Fantastic staff, special mention to Personal Trainer Chantell, super helpful, great vibes and overall very motivational !!

Negative experience: I would not recommend Nuffield Gym Chelmsford. It is very dated, dirty, dusty, poorly laid out, no aircon. They charge so much money but do not invest it back into the gym. It needs completely gutting.

Positive experience: I have been visiting this gym for a year. I took a break and tried another gym in town. In the end, I had to return to this one because for the price of the membership, it is probably the best fitness center, which includes a sauna, a pool, and the gym. I don't use classes. However, please consider adding new equipment to the gym.

Negative experience: Disappointing experience here unfortunately. Their website FAQs are wrong - there is no spa pool, and the steam room hasn't worked properly for weeks. Luckily my membership allows access to Ilford, which seems larger, cleaner... And had the best steam room I've ever been in.

Fantastic experience: As a new member I went for the first time today, found the facilities excellent and a very relaxed atmosphere

Negative experience: I received a day pass and I have some pros & cons to share with you. .Pros:(1) I was greeted with a warm smile by Mandy at reception. (2) The sauna was a decent size.(3) The showers were clean. .Cons:(1) The stretching and free weights area are too small.(2) The lighting and general decor was outdated.(3) The jacuzzi had been removed. I questioned a number of members and not one of them thought that the £69 p/m membership price represents good value. People that want you to sign up for a charity are generally found in the high street so therefore I was horrified to found them here! If you're not desperate for a sauna or swim then the best value and cleanest gym has to be The Gym Group near M&S.

Fantastic experience: As someone who has used all the gyms in the Chelmsford area, I can say that this by far the best with Sauna, steam room, pool, cafe, gym, 2 studios, quite area for working, lockers and even a nail salon lol. BARRY is very helpful and the rest of the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Could not recommend enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Negative experience: I have now ended my gym membership at Nuffield health, been a member nearly 2 years now and it has slowly declined and is now quite rundown, sauna and steam room are really quite dirty and smelly tried to cancel my Gym membership on the 3rd of the month when my standing order comes out and have to pay another month as it needs to be cancelled on the last day of the month regardless of the payment date watch for this if you want to leave. Was a lovely gym just had no investment whatsoever plenty of other gyms and way cheaper!!!

Negative experience: Don’t join this club!! The staff are rude and the facilities are of a poor standard. If you cancel your membership you are still made to pay even if you do not use the facilities. Very unprofessional and unpleasant management team

Negative experience: Do not join this health club!! The club is tired and understaffed. The management team are very unhelpful , especially a very rude member of the team called Mia who is one of the most obnoxious people I have ever had the displeasure of talking to. It is truly chaotic, unpleasant and very bad value for money.

Negative experience: Busy all the time can’t do a full session, 3 squat racks and about 5 benches, 1 leg press. All of which are always taken and yet about 100 empty treadmills.

Negative experience: Would you still like a gym that stops providing any tissues?? bad experience, big difference now.

Fantastic experience: Have used the gym for a few years. Always found everyone warm and friendly. There is a large amount of equipment and the swimming pool is great. Have dealt with Colin, the duty manager, and he was great and understood my issues and was very helpful

Negative experience: The gym has been so busy it’s hard to get in to do a full strength based program. The women’s changing rooms and showers are dated, not the cleanest and shabby. It all really needs refurbishing and updating to remove the huge amount of cardio equipment and double the size of the amount of free weights or weights machines.

Negative experience: Have availed their trial offer and wasn't informed about the parking extension. Could have stayed over 2 hours and so on the next day, I requested if by any chance they could add my car reg to avoid a ticket. The gentleman responded with this 90s sales technique "we can do this for you sign up for our membership". Thank you...that is not the way to onboard new members.

Positive experience: Staff are great. Really friendly and helpful. The facilities are good. it’s just so busy and you can hardly get on the equipment. All I see is them signing up to more and more memberships. It’s greed over keeping the current members happy. I will be looking for a new gym in the New Year.

Negative experience: Not a lot of machines, frequently breaking down and takes a long time for them to get fixed and working again. A £20 a month puregym and Thegym have more machines and fix them a lot quicker. Very poor from Nuffield if you ask me

Positive experience: Clean and well.maintained with proper aircon and facilities. Gym was organised and lots of variety and user friendly machines and setup dumbells also going up to 50kg being a bonus. Overall friendly staff aswell as other gym users. Reccomended. Only negative being lack of more then 1 bench press station.

Fantastic experience: Member's gym with guest passes and plenty of parking. Near city centre and shops. Very pleasant staff, great facilities. Clean, modern and welcoming. Open 6am-10pm most days with classes, swimming pool, spa and plenty of machines on the gym floor.

Negative experience: Good gym - terrible management. Ignored valid membership cancellations and then try and issue a summons and trash your credit rating. Rude when contacted too. There are far better gyms in the area so just AVOID.

Positive experience: Friendly and helpful staff, gym is OK and has some good equipment but is often very busy, towels have been taken away so you have to bring your own, Sauna doesn't really get hot enough, swimming pool is good, steam room is good, considering the cost I would expect more

Negative experience: Good gym, but they have moved one of the racks downstairs for personal training, making it hard to get a rack during busy time. could they also close at 8pm on the weekend and kick out by 7:45. should really advertise the actual closing time!

Fantastic experience: Nuffield gym is very well equipped, clean, with friendly staff. I particularly like the steam room, which is ubfortunately closed due to Covid-19. Since its fairly expensive, you don't have groups of teenagers or too many young people, which makes for a nice professional atmosphere. Lots of classes and a really decent size pool. Nice changing rooms too. Update: since covid they no longer give you a complementary towel, but still charge the same. Also expect an occasional parking ticket if you forget to put your reg in the machine. I suggested an integrated system so it would auto clock your reg when you swipe in, but it seems easier to let members get fined.

Positive experience: Great as always, plenty equipment. Sterile, you can perform surgeries there. Alcohol wipes in large bags on each corner, everyone wipes their place. Pricey, that's why it's only 3 stars

Fantastic experience: Very good gym. Small eatery downstairs serving selection of healthy food. Good swimming pool sauna and Jacuzzi complex. Gym has plenty of machine and equipment so you never have to wait when we go. Personal trainers available. Loads of classes and also physiotherapy.

Positive experience: Nice and clean specially after new equipments and gym floor. Healthy food options on the menu too. Wish the toilets and showers are also updated.

Negative experience: Don't provide enough classes, the ones they do provide are always full (for yoga & pilates) so they should add more if they're popular. No classes Thurs, Friday evenings or over the weekend when the studios are empty a lot of the time. Since the refurb there is no area for floor work or stretching, the mirrors all have machines in front of them so you can't check your own posture. When I paid for PT the trainer was always more interested in chatting than training also booked me (& made me pay for) a further 10 sessions when the initial 10 finished. The sauna has rotten wood in the benches and the steam room has missing tiles on the seats and a drip. The swimming pool is ok but can get very noisy if there are kids lessons going on in the smaller pool. I'd recommend going somewhere else, this place has premium prices but doesn't follow through with a premium service or equipment. Edit. Recently the pool has been taken over by children's swimming lessons. I was there at 5pm yesterday and they closed off two of the three lanes in the adult pool for lessons while the children's pool was empty. After the lesson the changing room was chaos & the parents didn't respect the "adults only" area. This is not fair on the members paying to use these facilities so I've reduced my star rating to one and will look elsewhere when my membership expires.

Negative experience: Regular bottled protein shake is £4, that’s how much some gyms charge to get in! What a joke!

Negative experience: This used to be a great gym but since the gym re-fit and new equipment it has been ruined. I have been a member since it first opened as Cannons; needless to say I shall soon be giving my patronage to another gym. A shame they spoilt it.

Negative experience: Have been a member of the gym for quite a while. It's a good gym. However the food is not so good and I am mostly disappointed with it. There are perhaps two staff members who always deliver good quality food. However after that it's pot luck. Apparently you can ruin a salad . Or get a variety of portions for the same price...... and sometimes I even get a couple of pieces of fetta cheese included in my feta cheese salad.!! Bored staff and lack lustre menu. Don't eat their if your hungry but do if your desperate! Nuffield please sort you menu and portion control.

Negative experience: Good gym and clean But their online system to book courses is not working and they seem to not make effort to try to fix it. We are in october and i m asking to something to be done since july... They are even not replying to calls or messages now (nuffield uk center) . It s apparently an email problem but my email was fine to confirm my membership and confirm they are taking my money now... Thank you for your answer but i give up, i called you few times and nothing is done. I gonna leave this gym cos i can t use the full service even if i pay for it... ridiculous

Positive experience: Efficient receptionists and staff in the evenings when I visit most of the time. Many fellow members seem polite and pleasant too. The car park gets a bit busy during the day so I avoid the gym even if I have the time in the afternoon. I have used this gym for 3 months now and nothing has put me off so far. I feel better and fitter than ever. It is money well spent even in these uncertain Brexiting times! However, I do find the gym a bit too quiet sometimes. If the music volume can be turned up a tiny bit more but not too much more, that will help to drive up our energy level whilst keeping the environment elegant. I think some members prefer listening to their own music of course. Congrats to the Nuffield Health staff on running this place to a satisfactory standard.

Negative experience: I'm getting very tired with how often the spa is out of order. A long term solution needs to be found as this month alone I've been unable to use it three times on three separate occasions due to it being out of order. This is letting you down!! Negative experience: Nice swimming pool area and a good range of equipment. But that's when all the good things end. There are no evening classes. Maybe 2-3 per evening and none on Friday. It's good if you are a pensioner or unemployed but terrible if you work and can't attend the morning classes. Staff can be quite rude. I'm stuck with them for a year as they won't let me out of my contract but won't be recommending it to friends unless they are pensioners!
