PureGym London Bank: Opinions
Positive experience: Try your hotel gym it might have heavier weights. 16kg max. Are you kidding ?
Fantastic experience: Rokas does such a great Bodytone class here, and this branch doesn't smell funny
Negative experience: EVERYDAY the staff is late to open the gym.. staff not friendly at all. Overall very poor experience.
Negative experience: They don't turn Aircon or internet on at the PureGym either so can't listen to music. It's too hot to do cardio. Empty though - not surprised as there's no internet or Aircon! Body pump class is awful and nothing like a normal body pump class
Fantastic experience: Your place for exercise
Fantastic experience: Great gym and conveniently located
Fantastic experience: I love this puregym! The staff are so helpful if I need anything and the location is perfect for me to pop in on my lunch break :)
Fantastic experience: Nice gym and the staff members are friendly. Many thanks to Pandora for always helping.
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym! Specially big shout to Ilenia, she always does amazing classes, look out for her classes if you want to sweat! I have had a pt session with her and I’ll go for many more. Definitely recommended!!!
Fantastic experience: I came for a tour of the gym and Ben showed me around he was very friendly during the tour and he made me feel very welcome while I was looking around.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and great instructors
Positive experience: Not too busy on weekday mornings. Mostly focused on cardio and functional equipment. The shower cleanliness is a disaster!
Fantastic experience: Best Puregym in central London!
Fantastic experience: Great cardio gym if you don’t lift heavy weights!Good value for money, clean and fresh, good selection of equipment such as rowing machines, treadmills, mats, small weights, weight training machines etc
Positive experience: Good gym
Fantastic experience: If only the South London puregyms was as clean as this branch wow feels much more posh, no broken equipment etc
Fantastic experience: This gym is advertised as a cardio gym, and it gives you exactly that. It's a fairly spacious gym with lovely staff that offers weight assisted machines for the other stuff it doesn't focus on. However, if you have a membership for this puregym, I believe you get access automatically to the one at Monument, which is very strength focused. Please do check that one out also for heavier free weights.
Fantastic experience: Top city
Negative experience: DON'T GO HERE FOR STRENGTH The single heaviest piece of equipment when I went on 24th Oct 2023 was a 16kg dumbbell. This should be well signposted before people pay to join as squat racks, plates, dumbbells up to at least 30kg and barbells are really a standard. Other than that its a really clean, well ran place as expected from a puregym, with lots of cardio equipment and the usual machines.
Positive experience: Love the space and the team working there is on deck, always ready to help.
Fantastic experience: Good spot!A PT named Kelvin (give the guy a promotion!), could hear what was going on, and after a coupe of minutes chatting to myself and the lady, he offered to take the session. At first we declined as he was just about to finish his shift, but he insisted. His empathy, emotional intelligence, and desire to take us through a session (when he did not have to, and it wasn't his to take) was incredible and a testiment to his character. It was also one of the toughest sessions - awesome Kelvin. We need more people like him.
Fantastic experience: They are super friendly there! I use the London branch when I am travelling for work and it’s always clean and tidy, everyone is so helpful and any equipment I need is right there! It’s such a good vibe in that place! Really recommend it to anyone!
Fantastic experience: Great place! Very clean and moderne. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Great location, loads of kit to choose from!
Positive experience: Have used this for 2 months. Has 80% of the gym equipment you probably need. Free weights only go up to 16kg… shame… could do with sets that go up to 32kg. For more serious weightlifters there are no bars, large deadweights etc. Has a separate room for spinning and then another room which is for your improvised training. Also has ergos, running machines etc for pure cardio and access to PTs. Is a simple gym and for £45/month which allows you to use 95% of PureGyms in the UK it is good value. Has showers, lockers etc and very friendly staff. Your overall view will depend on what you need to use a gym for. I am happy.
Fantastic experience: Clean, good for cardio.
Negative experience: No racks, barbells and the dumbbells don’t go above 16kg. Zero phone signal as well and Wi-Fi wouldn’t work.
Fantastic experience: The gym is good. It is clean and quiet. As other reviews point out, there is less equipment than other gyms but membership gives you access to two gyms. The other gym is closer to Monument a 1 minute walk away and they have more weights. I prefer the Bank gym because it is cleaner and less busy and has all of the equipment I need in a much cleaner and quieter environment. I recommend the gym.
Negative experience: Some one has hacked my details as I live in york and have never been to london
Negative experience: Tuesday around 7am the music was so loud the floor was shaking and I couldn't even hear anything on my airpods even on maximum volume. No staff in sight to ask for it to be turned down.
Hi Colin, Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Staff should undertake regular volume checks for the safety and comfort of our members, but if you approach the Gym Manager with more info they can look into this. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: I was a member of PureGym London Bank, I made innumereous complaints due to not feel safe at this branch, but all of my complaints were ignored, which is a total disrespect to members. I used to come to this gym for a workout, but everytime I arrived at around 2.30pm - 3pm, the manager (he sometimes wears a top that says "manager" on the back) he is at the entrance and he is very arrogant and with an attitude. After finishing my workouts, I used to go to the toilet to pickup my stuff and go home, and this man who wears a manager's top checks the toilet which I know it's a regular gym routine for male staff to do this kind of checks. So one day I was very tired, then when I saw him leaving the toilet, I backed off in order to let him do his job, he then left the toilet and arrogantly said to me "it's all yours!!", in a very rude and impolite tone. A couple of months prior to this, I was leaving the toilet, and we bumped at each other at the toilet door, this manager instead of allowing me to leave the toilet, he blocked my exit and was interrogating me with a very obtuse attitude if there was anyone else in the ladies, rather than simply let me exit the toilet, so he could check the toilet himself without involving a gym member to do his job. At first, when arriving at the gym, I used to say hello to him, and he rudely reply "I'm good, thanks", then he would look down at his phone, after this I stopped greeting him when entering the gym. I am very upset with this manager's lack of professionalism and rudeness, he could be more polite to members, but he has this attitude, just because he is the manager. I left PureGym London Bank because of this arrogant and rude manager as I am very offended by his level of rudeness to me when I did nothing to him. I am deeply hurt by the way I have been treated by the manager of PureGym London Bank as well as by the fact the all my emails complaints about this manager were all ignored. It's better to pay a more expensive gym and be treated with respect and decency. UPDATE: I've sent lots of emails to London Bank Pure Gym complaining about this manager, I sent emails to Emma, to Olly and all ignored, now the reply below was "DM us" which I've been doing for more than a month, no one never got back to me, that's hillarious their feedback, I would've never left a review if my complaints have been dealt with.
Hi, thanks for the message. We are sorry to see that you have rated the gym 1 star. We always appreciate feedback from our members, please can you drop us a DM so we can have a chat to you about this rating and what we can do to improve our service going forward. Thanks, PureGym.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, specially for the price.
Hi Augusto, Thanks for your great review! If you want to give us more details on your experience with us here at PureGym feel free to pop us a message!
Negative experience: Poor gym class, no speaker system so music played off a phone and the instructor barely even got on the spin bike himself
Hi Rose, thank you for taking the time out to leave your feedback. We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your gym class. We're always keen to improve our classes, we'd really appreciate it if you got in touch directly through [email protected] so we can get more details and investigate this. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: Very poor. Dumbbells only up to 16kg, no barbells so no plates or plate-loaded machines. No kettlebells. Really only suitable for cardio or bodyweight exercises. Yanga water (which is a paid extra) not working so the only option was tepid water from the fountain. Don’t expect a towel for your money either.
Hi Alexander. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any other/specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed. Thanks, PureGym.
Positive experience: Great area for cardio workout, only issue would be the 16kg limit, other then that it's pretty good
Hi, thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We want to provide our members with a safe space where they can get a great workout in a clean and friendly environment. We are really happy to hear you enjoy using the gym and hope you continue to do so, but if you have any feedback don't hesitate to speak to the Gym Manager. Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: A small gym which lacks equipment as said in other reviews however if are looking for a quick low intensity session this could be for you. If they started doing lunchtime/after-work classes it could be more appealing to the areas clientele as lack of residents and more city workers.
Hi TX, thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback and this will be addressed in the gym. Positive experience: 깔끔한 체육관

Negative experience: Went to train legs expecting this to be like every other pure gym and was majorly disappointed, no plate loaded machines, no squat rack, no smith machine, no leg press or hack squat, weights all seemed to be very limited and below 20kg. I asked and was advised they have restrictions because of the building, at a loss as to how people can get a proper workout there, I had to leave and go to another gym.

Negative experience: No racks, no barbell means no real squats, no deadlift and no real bench. Acoustic as a lame excuse when the gym is in a basement makes absolutely no sense. If you need a quick run, fine but for compound and intensity, stay away. Not worth your time
Hi Paul, thanks for taking the time to leave this review. We're always looking for ways to improve what we have on offer to our members. Positive experience: One of the more expensive pure gyms, but right next to Cannon street. Not crowded at all after work which I love. This maybe due to COVID.
Hi - Thanks for taking the time to leave this review! We want to provide our members with a safe space in which they can get a great workout in and do so, in a clean and friendly environment. Members can use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. We are really happy to hear you enjoy using the gym! Thanks, PureGym
Fantastic experience: It's absolutely an amazing spot. Worth it. Classes are grat

We want to provide our members with a safe space in which they can get a great workout in and do so, in a clean and friendly environment. It’s great to hear you enjoy the classes and using the gym overall! :) Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: Not the most equipped but well worth the cost compared to its competitors in this area.
Hi Daniel, thanks for your review. Negative experience: OMG! This gym doesn't have a squat rack!! And the shower sprayed everywhere except your body! Good thing there is no contract! I would like to ask the person who runs this gym. "Do you work out?!"
Negative experience: Dumbbells only go up to 16kg. No racks or barbells. No free weights areas apart from benches! more pure*less*gym

Negative experience: Should have paid more attention to the reviews. Just no real free weights or machines and not what I’d expect from a PureGym having tried many others. If you want to do cardio or a light dumbbell workout you’ll be all good though.

Fantastic experience: Excellent but it's a shame it's not open on the weekend
Hi William. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. It's great to hear you enjoy using the gym overall and that you've given us 5 stars. We understand that having the gym open seven days a week is ideal and we do try to have all of our gyms open at all times. However, due to external factors such as local licensing regulations. We are always looking to make changes that we can to opening hours, and often have other local PureGym’s that will be open weekends and can be used. We hope your time with us continues to be positive! Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: Nice clean gym, and a cheap price for Zone 1 but you do get what you pay for. A very poor range of strength equipment, no free weights, no barbells, bench press or dumbells over 15kg. Basically it won't appeal to anyone looking to build muscle. Good for beginners, sports rehab or cardio but not much else.
Fantastic experience: Spotlessly clean and great instructors
Thank you for the review Richard! Great to see you in the gym. Thanks, PureGym.
Positive experience: What sort of gym doesn't have free weights above 16kg?
Hi Mark, Thank you for your recent review on London Bank and I apologise it wasn't what you expected. Due to the acoustics of the building, we are limited to the free weights equipment we can provide in terms of weight, meaning the dumbbells go up to 16kg. However to make up for this, we have a vast amount of fixed pin and cable machines available, plus a bespoke dedicated studio to functional training which provides lots of equipment to provide a great workout. On the description for London Bank, you will see that there is no dumbbell sign, which all other PureGym's have and we do describe in detail what we do have available for our members. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: What kind of gym doesn't have barbells?? You can't bench, squat or deadlift here!

Fantastic experience: Only thing ,would be easier for me if they open 30mns early
Thanks for the review Claudia! Great to have you in the gym training. Thanks, PureGym.
Positive experience: Very quiet gym. Shame they can't have any plates there which means you can't really do any heavy weightlifting but otherwise very good for light weight high reps sessions
Thank you for the review Maeva! Great to have you in the gym. Thanks, PureGym.
Positive experience: New gym...new and up to date equipment. Staff are polite and engaging...let's see if this continues when there are lots more members. Changing rooms are satisfactory given the size and location of the gym. There is a TRX/functioning area but no battle ropes. Spin and studio for cardio classes. Sanitising products available throughout which is great. Be warned, there are no Smith machines, no bench press equipment and no free weights or barbells heavier than 16kg which I was told is due to the building being very old...Its acceptable for now whilst I regain my strength but can't see myself using this place beyond the first month as it doesn't have the equipment I need for gaining muscle such as dead lifts and squats
