Negative experience: Pooooor gym staff , poooor communications, poor parking, very disgusting service and horrible experience, please don’t join this gym I had an extremely frustrating experience with PureGym. None of the staff could properly explain where to register my car for parking(I didn’t see any during my 2 months membership) No matter how hard I tried to follow the registration process, I kept getting fined. In my first four visits, I received four fines just because I wasn’t aware of the registration process—something that should have been clearly communicated! Even after I figured it out and made sure to register my car every single visit, the fines kept coming. This is absolutely unacceptable. Instead of focusing on my workouts, I have to constantly deal with parking issues that should not exist in the first place. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone who doesn’t want to deal with unnecessary hassle!

Positive experience: It's too early to make a more informed review, but so far, it's good for a first-time gym user. I use the early morning hours before 6:00 AM that are not so busy, and parking is readily available. The gym has a good range of equipment and space, and the Mobile App is helpful when it comes to planning my workouts and booking classes.

Negative experience: The gym is great size and equipment range the parking system they use is a joke went to the gym around 1 o'clock in the morning to find the tablet not working and 4 pieces of paper full of registerations and times wrote myn down and proceeded to get a parking ticket have appealed the ticket and it's been denied even though clearly the tablet was not working at the time

Negative experience: Leaving a one star review as I’ve received a threading letter from your car park operators. I pay the premium membership and now a £140 parking fine. This is unacceptable. Gym is okay but too small. Most of the time there are machines that are out of order. Never once saw a member of staff the whole 4 months I was a member. Cancelled tonight. Saw the reviews about the parking and thought it was just people over reacting but I’ve put my reg number in RELIGIOUSLY on EVERY visit. Shame.

Negative experience: Avoid…. Terrible place, parking is run by smartplc Ended up with a £170 parking fine for being not even 10 minutes over the so called “free parking”.. , much better gyms local to this one wouldn waste your time

Positive experience: Great gym with decent equipment and very consistent standards. This gym is a bit smaller than what you may expect, but managed to fit in a good array of equipment. The weights can be disorganised and some other equipment can be hard to get your hands on, but staff do what they can. Bathrooms/changing rooms are always in good shape and very clean with plenty of lockers avaliable. The gym MUST do better with the parking outside. I, along with many people I know, have received multiple fines due to parking issues despite inputting reg info. A solid gym that is always open. However avoid parking here.

Negative experience: Always over crowded and the parking is ridiculous, if you ever forget or make a mistake with your reg, they charge you and don’t accept the appeal when you’re in their building. Scam.

Negative experience: AVOID THIS GYM - Disgusting service and use of a company called Smart Parking to manage the car park. Entered a zero instead of an 'O' in the touch pad and received a £100 fine. Provided Smart Parking with a print out of my Gym attendance which matched the timestamp on the parking fine, but Smart Parking refuse to accept this as authorised usage. Have spoken to staff in the gym but nobody is interested. I have mailed Pure Gym customer service twice and they deny that the parking operation has anything to do with them despite the touch panel being located on their property. I repeatedly see Pure Gym comment on these reviews advising that we can contact the gym manager, perhaps a representative of Pure Gym would be kind enough to provide the name and contact details for the gym manager?

Positive experience: Pretty solid Pure Gym, less warrenous than many of the city ones I have visited. Reasonable range of equipment but a little over crowded (went on Xmas eve, Boxing Day and 27th - so unsure if it get better/worse). No where near as much TOWIE vibes as I was hoping for.

Negative experience: Such a shame to have to write the review because I’ve always liked this gym. Was going before covid and never had any issues with the parking. Until returning again this year in September 2023, unaware of the new parking regulations. They’ve now teamed up with Smart Parking LTD who have no customer service at all and don’t care what your reasons are regarding parking fines from said car park. The gym do absolutely nothing to make people aware of this apart from a silly sign when you first walk in, after scanning the QR code ,telling you to enter your reg (not in big enough writing) on a tablet stuck to the wall, not even in plain sight.. Also noting that before you enter via the automatic turnstiles, there’s a massive sign that says they will not discuss parking fine issues on site. So they know this is a problem.. yet they don’t do anything more to make people more aware of their parking rules. Considering every time I went during Sep-nov 2023, 9/10 there was someone standing at a small desk or hovering around the entrance, so they could have kindly reminded people that if they have parked, to put their car reg in, but no, that would be too easy. Currently can’t afford the membership anymore as I’m now paying off hundreds of pounds worth of fines because Smart Parking LTD decided they wanted to take a whole month to send me the first of many fines. Don’t pick this gym unless you have spare money to waste on parking fines.

Positive experience: Thought I would check this gym out. Parking is a nightmare, and took me over 15 minutes to get a parking space. The gym itself is fairly decent, plenty of cardio equipment and a ok choice of resistance machines. I just don’t think I would return because of the parking situation though.

Positive experience: Lots of positives just a few negatives. Positives: Good value for money, large selection of equipment that is nearly always operational and clean. Friendly and helpful staff/trainers. Good changing/showering facilities. Good range of classes. 24hr access. Negs: The spin bikes could do with a bit of TLC. Parking can be difficult.

Negative experience: Its an okay little gym fair priced however, Be very careful about the parking I have just received a £100 parking fine from 3 months ago! and if there's a fault with the tablet or you take longer then 10min they will still issue a fine. This has happened to so many people.

Negative experience: £100 fine for parking. I went to the gym for the first ever time and I asked a staff member what do I do with my car registration and I was advised, nothing you just park your car and workout as you would. There was signs up for parking but not one on this day point me towards the IPad. You don’t get this sort of trouble with any other gym, I’d stay well clear of it.

Negative experience: Good range of equipment but the main, pressing issue is lack of sufficient parking. Basically, unless you go at night, good luck finding any parking spot. And even at night, you still get parking fines which PureGym will absolutely not bother assisting their paying customers with. They simply shrug their shoulders, say that they don't own the car park and that's about it. This is the worst level of customer service I've ever witnessed, of all gyms I've been with in this country.

Fantastic experience: I tend to use this gym during off peak hours. The gym itself and the changing rooms are consistently clean with antibacterial and blue roll points dotted around. All the lockers are large. The ladies changing rooms lock from 11pm and you can only enter with your pin. The building is quite secure too, when you scan the app to enter the doors prevent you from being followed. The app tells you how many people are currently in the building. The machines seem to have a good variance and quality. There are places to fill your water bottle. Gym users keep to themselves but on the two occasions that I needed help which was to do with working out how to get through the entrance (it was dark and I had a break due to a knee injury), each time people were friendly. I am yet to try the classes. Park on the left within the blue lines for the gym and validate with your license on the tablet near the entrance.

Positive experience: Not too busy on a sat evening. Equipment is well kept and clean. Only downside is people don't re rack their dumbbells properly and they're scattered everywhere. If you go here definitely try the bicep machine, allows legendary ROM and you can get a nasty pump.

Positive experience: This gym could be so good but somewhat lacking in selection of weights. Need two lots of the pre weighted bars and also more 2.5kgs and 1.25kgs which I can never find. We aren't all meatheads and it's a slow increase for us ladies

Positive experience: Decent gym - fairly small, machines/weights are clean, friendly atmosphere - can be busy peak hours but avoidable using the app, I stopped using the changing rooms as they were often unclean, I wish there was a bit more machine variety (hack squat)

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible service from puregym. I visited the gym twice and one month later received two parking charges of £60 each. When entering the gym I was doing so in the evening so not able to read any signs to say you need to enter registration. Contacted both puregym and Smart parking who are horrendous. I'll be taking this to court

Fantastic experience: a beautiful salon with quality equipment. but the previous comments made me a little nervous. the biggest problem is the parking lot, and you can never get there on foot. therefore, the salon management needs to find a solution to this nonsense.

Negative experience: Good gym, friendly staff and clean premises, though only 2 squat racks and 2 bench press benches. Would be a 4 star review if not for the terrible 3rd party company that manages the onsite parking 'Smart Parking'. If you ever forget to enter your car registration number when parking, they will issue you a £60 charge. Even when proving that you did not overstay the members 2 hours free and that you are a Billericay PureGym member, Smart Parking will reject the appeal in the hopes that you will succumb and pay anyway, or force you to make an appeal to the independent POPLA organisation. In the middle of a cost of living crisis, the opportunistic Smart Parking company leech money from paying gym members who make a simple mistake of forgetting to enter car registration. There is no incentive for them to install a more honest system as they benefit from the current broken one. Will probably move to a different gym due to this.

Fantastic experience: I go here often and I think it's a great gym. Well priced and there are showers. Parking seems an issue from what I've read, although I haven't had an issue with parking so far in the two months of being a member.

Negative experience: The gym itself is average and staff is friendly. However the parking is a disaster! I got hit with a smart parking fine even though I am a member with puregym and put in my reg number at the gym as requested. I’m genuinely confused to how I deserved this fine. The car park is operated by a third party company in which we do not have any affiliation with. Therefore, we are unfortunately unable to cancel such tickets. Information regarding parking is available on the home page of any PureGym which offers parking. The correct parking procedures must be followed, to avoid a parking ticket. We would always advise that you appeal the fine and explain the circumstances. If you get in touch with Member Services, we can also provide you with an appeal document which will be an official letter from PureGym Head Office, stating that you are a member of PureGym and your attendance log for the date in question, will also be provided as proof to show you were in the gym. Fantastic experience: Great gym shame about the private firm that runs the carpark. Currently disputing my 4th penalty ticket even though i register my car on every visit. Very annoying and considering looking for another gym

Negative experience: Have now left the gym and gone elsewhere. Parking an absolute nightmare. Crowded and full of people who just want to pose and chat, hogging equipment whilst others wait. No space to actually do any planned workout for the day. Members of staff disinterested and unapproachable.

Negative experience: Been going PureGym Billericay for past two months. Great gym, small membership fee, I go 4-5 times a week. I’ve just been hit with a £100 fine for using their car park without validating. I go 4-5 times a week for two months, this one fine is over 4 times the membership fee. I was parked in the blue designated space, and believed I validated on the way in, even have proof I was in the gym at the allotted time, the appeal has still been rejected. If your gym is going to offer parking for members, they need to make sure we are not getting charged for parking there. I suggest including vehicle registration on your membership, so is automatically done when you swipe in and out, whilst still assuring members aren’t taking liberties with the parking area. I’m now not only considering leaving the gym, but regretting joining it in the first place.

Negative experience: The gym is fairly good. The parking however is terrible - barely any spaces even outside of peak hours and they're tiny. Even somewhere to chain up a bike would be a appreciated to compensate.

Positive experience: Found the gym compact but very well equipped. If cardio is your thing, you have unlimited options with rows of treadmills and ellipticals. There are 2 stair masters, although for me the ceilings are a bit low so at the top of the Stairmaster, there is a lack of head room. Two vending machines selling padlocks, water, towels, protein shakes, pre work out shots and protein bars. The Womens changing room were clean plenty of space to change, available lockers and 3 seperate cubicles of toilets. There was hand soap and the hand dryers were both in working order. Dumbell selections were good with a variety of weights from 4kgs to 20kgs that were located near the barbell selections from 10kgs up to 40kgs. The free weight area was packed but equipped. Good variety of weight machines. Overall I would recommend thus gym, has everything you need and more.

Negative experience: Awful Service from PureGym and Smart Parking: It's 50 50 if PureGym's one and only registration terminal is working and if it isnt then Smart Park fine you and despite having video evidence showing the registratrion pad wasn't working this isnt enough proof. 4 Months now of emails and call to PureGym with Noone offering any support! Avoid this place!

PureGym do not own this location situated at PureGym Billericay and the car park is run by an external third party company, therefore we have no jurisdiction over whether tickets are issued or cancelled. All information about the parking procedure is clearly displayed outside and throughout the gym, as well as being directly communicated to members. If there is an issue with the tablet it is best to speak to the Gym Manager directly, you can speak to them in person, use the feedback box available in the gym or use the different contact options on the gyms home page on the website to contact them. They can look into issues and may be able to provide further information on this, following GDPR. We advise including a log of your attendance in any appeals, this can be found in the Members Area on the website. If the appeal is rejected you do have the option of appealing further with POPLA. POPLA are an independent appeals process which works with the Ombudsman Service. Should an appeal be rejected by the parking company, there should be a 10 digit verification code and you will then be able to submit an appeal with POPLA via their website: http://www.popla.co.uk/poplaappealprocess.

Negative experience: Come 4 o'clock all the year 7's from the local school come in and treat it as a youth club. Far too small for the amount of people they let in. You Get groups of up to 10 school kids all just standing around the machines not training, very frustrating if you are trying to follow a programme as you just end up using what ever equipment is available. Oh and had £200 of parking fines in the last 6 months. When you appeal and tell them it was an honest mistake and can prove you was at the gym on that day they dont wanna know. Definitely profit over everything at this gym. Staff are all friendly and polite though

Please be aware due to the situation of our gyms it isn't always possible to extend the site itself, however, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities where possible, so please keep an eye out for updates. Negative experience: Avoid, sneaky car park system. 3 parking tickets costing 300 quid, within the first week. They took over 2 weeks to come through, lucky I didn't go any more or it would have been more expensive. Obviously they delay the process of sending them so you can accumulate more fines. Very vague, hard to spot signs about the porking and if you were unaware of the parking situation you wouldn't notice them, nothing in the gym on main entrance either stating you have to out your number plate in a system. Absolutely disgusting. Canceled membership and it's happened to so many other people, it's all over the internet and was in the newspaper since I checked. Terrible

Negative experience: Was a member of the gym for a few months. Was an OK gym. Clean but small. Great if you like a treadmill because the majority of the gym is full of them. Lack of other machines/equipment. Reason I quit was due to the parking. You're okay if you get the train or walk. But there's probably about 10 spaces max for the whole of the gym. Even these look like they just about fit a bike. Capacity is usually at about 50/60 people, so getting a space is like winning the lottery. If you're happy to pay for a space in the car park next door, you're all good.

Negative experience: Don’t bother with this gym. The parking is a joke, I paid for a weeks pass as I was visiting family. The website says free parking and there is hardly any signs as you enter the gym or around the car park to inform you that you need to register your reg. I am now being sent parking tickets of £100 for each visit. £700 because of the lack of comms and signs. Unbelievable.

Negative experience: Dimly lit car park which apparently has signs telling you to enter car registration inside gym. Signage not clear inside gym which has resulted in 3 parking fines of £300 just before Christmas. Even if you prove you're in gym at time you still have to pay, also know of others have entered reg and still got tickets. Will be cancelling membership for this reason.

Negative experience: I got three tickets in a row which I did not get help to contest in at all. I truly love the gym but they put me in an awkward position to suspend my membership, I usually get there at night and it's unmanned but surely you should help out customers in cases like these!

Negative experience: Misinformation on website. They claim to give members free car parking and than slap them with a fine of 100 pounds every time you park there. I am a returning member and since I go there after work. That is when it's dark I didn't notice that they have changed the process of parking to registering your car every time you go, as I was busy navigating my car into a very tight and tricky car park rather than paying attention to signage. I was ensured by the 'free car park' message on their website so it didn't cross my mind. They should ask members to register their vehicles at the time of start of membership rather than catching them out unawares and fining them. This is quite clearly a con to swindle money out of member's ignorance. I am really surprised that they are getting away with this.

Positive experience: The gym itself was fine but the car park is really small and only half the spaces are for Pure Gym members. Also there aren't many cleaning stations to wipe down machines after use and I didn't see a single member of staff the whole time I was in there

Negative experience: Pure gym should make it more noticeable that you MUST enter car reg details as you will receive parking tickets. I was a member a year ago and never had an issue with the parking. I joined on the 5th and am only getting tickets arrive in the post from parking 3 weeks ago. This means I will now be receiving over £1000 worth of tickets with no support from Pure what so ever. I will never rejoin this gym, they lack of customer care and sympathy.

Negative experience: Could be 5 star but sorry going to deal with 15 pcn go there 3:30-4 o’clock can’t see signs not enough light at that time even though it says 2 hours free been there only 1hour and 30 mins average cheap for reason I guess used pure gym before others area never had something like that hope someone will help on this ( and I know Electrition working up stairs in the bar he got 30 ticket people upstairs helped him by contacting parking company)

PureGym don’t have control over parking because the car park is owned by an external company. Luckily some branches can offer free parking, others offer paid-for parking, others offer no parking at all. I am sorry if the parking limit is not ideal for your workouts but this would be out of our control given we do not own the car park. Negative experience: Antibacterial wipes hasn't been replaced 2 workstations have not been emptying regularly. I saw a puregym personal trainer training a member without a face covering and not keeping distance members of staff are wearing Masks but they are not regularly walking around checking. The cleanness of machines are poor yet they are suppose to be deep cleaned every night. Due to the covid 19 standards this is poor standards.

Positive experience: Gym is ok. Reasonably clean but a lot of rubbish, bottles and cans of drink in the changing rooms its a shame members can't be bothered to walk 5 metres to the bin but also shows cleaning isnt happening as expected in current situation.

Negative experience: My visit was ok, took a few minutes to figure out the parking arrangements with the casino upstairs. As always the parking firm that manages the outside areas have cameras , ready to pounce on the unaware that fail to register their vehicle for their stay.

Negative experience: It's hard to cancel the membership. After I cancelled my membership they were still taking money out of my account unauthorised. They made excuses to say it was my responsibility, even though I called to confirm it was cancelled; they refused to issue a refund of £27.65. I am hugely disappointed, and somewhat feel like my money was stolen from this company. DON'T START A MEMBERSHIP WITH PURE GYM, you won't be able to cancel it without them finding a way into your pockets again.

If you sign up on a monthly direct debit membership, we do advise the only way to cancel this membership outside of the 14 day cool off period is to cancel the direct debit with the bank directly. This ensures that it is nice and easy to cancel your membership and you do not need to contact us directly to do so! Negative experience: If you're thinking about joining here, Don't! Theres already enough people that go. It's very busy for a little gym and you have to wait quite a long time to use certain machines and equipment. Also the stickers attached to the weights have fallen off so i don't know what weight i'm lifting. They haven't re attached the stickers because its been like that for over 6 months. And the People who go to this gym obviously failed maths and cannot count because they place the weights in the wrong place or they don't bother putting it back at all...

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. If you have any concerns about equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can. It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this, especially if members are putting them back in the wrong place. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this. Thanks, PureGym

Negative experience: Terrible I go all the time to this gym. Its over subscribed, the equipment takes ages to be fixed, the front doors only work half the time. You go in the evening it's full of groups of kids and impossible to get on the equipment Coz they just chat, And an older female pt takes up all the equipment with her clients even tho there not using that equipment and then is rude when you ask to use it. One of the worest gyms around here

Also in my own experience, members are often happy to let you jump in and share equipment especially at peak times. On top of this, staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and sometimes need to wait on engineers to ensure equipment is in proper working condition, but will always do repairs as quickly as is safely possible. If you have any concerns about particular pieces of equipment or anything else the best way to pass them on for practical action is always to get in touch directly with the Gym Manager.
