Tooting Leisure Centre

Negative experience: Felt disgusted every moment I spent here. I used to swim here as a kid over 20 years ago. Decided to come here again, the place has never had a lick of renovation ever. It’s like walking into the 90’s. The place is dirty, smells like pee and is filled with limescale. I’m gagging thinking about it. Don’t subject yourself or your children to this filth pit.

Fantastic experience: Very well run, great value and excellent facilities. Ali the body pump instructor is the absolute best - she's so funny and makes the sessions fun. The rooms are air conditioned and we generally have enough equipment. The pool is big too. Easy booking system over the new app. I'm very grateful to have this place to keep me fit and healthy - thank you to all the staff x

Fantastic experience: Lots of parking, great staff, clean facilities and the pool being 33 meters long, with a deep end making it perfect for the Freediving session that NoTanx runs on Wednesday evenings. Highly recommend coming here for a dive, swim or even sauna ‍↔️

Positive experience: It's okay and for the money you pay you do get a lot, but the gym definitely needs some TLC as everything feels quite dusty and ran down. Would be great if they could get more Reebok Benches as well, I have only seen 2 at the gym and they are always being used

Positive experience: I have recently started using the pool facilities here and have mixed opinions. Overall I think that the pool is one of the best in the area, however I find it very hard to enjoy a swim here due to overcrowding of lanes and poor lane etiquette by the patrons. My most recent swim was a Thursday night when there was a squad in the water which is completely fine, but fitting 16 public swimmers into 2 single lanes makes this a poor experience for intermediate/advanced level swimmers. There is minimal to no policing of lane speeds despite the signs that are put at the end of the pool either. Overall I like the pool and I think it represents good value for money with a membership, however I think that a couple of things could be put in place (such as reducing booking numbers or publishing how many lanes are available to the public) to make the facility more enjoyable to swim at

Positive experience: Has everything you could need. A lovely swimming pool (book it advance if it's at a peak time), sauna, steam room, gym, badminton courts and many possible clubs/classes to join. I know for swimming you can do pay as you go

Negative experience: Run down. Like most of the leasure centres in wandsworth, nasty dirty changing room, stinky dirty showers and toilets.. Staff don't really care as the owners don't either. Avoid

Positive experience: Need better facilities!!! The showers are not so nice I haven't been there in 15 years and I can't really see any improvement to be honest. Shame

Negative experience: Great pool & instructors but the facilities are really lacking. The toilets are often blocked or out of order and the floors in the changing area's are always absolutely filthy, to a shocking state. My advice, bring flip flops.

Negative experience: Will be using the month i’ve paid for then cancelling my membership regardless of consequence for signing into a 12 month membership,employ staff who enjoy their job,not trying to shag every female that walks into the building,or that is using their race to take the piss out of an innocent person

Negative experience: My toddler usually loves to swim however the pool was far to cold. We were told the pool was 30°c but I beg to differ, my little one spent most of the session chattering her teeth and was unable to warm up. It was our first and last time here unfortunately. The amount of people per session needs to be reconsidered for sure. The teaching pool was by far overcrowded, allowing 30 guests to book per session leaves others with little space to enjoy the pool.

Negative experience: My experiences here as a relatively young female swimmer haven’t been great. Inconsiderate behavior from a certain demographic of swimmers, especially if you’re swimming in the fast lane. Wish they had more women only swimming hours. In the future I’ll likely go elsewhere, other pools in the area feel more inclusive to all

Negative experience: This review is specifically for the Badminton social that they hold on Thursdays. I am a newbie who has been going there for the event when I can. While people of varied skill levels come, a few regular players are pretty nasty to those whom they believe aren't up to their level. One of them called me "useless." I am shocked that this kind of behavior is not admonished. At least based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend the social to beginners or anyone not wanting to play a super competitive game.

Positive experience: Good facilities, always clean and staff are great. Son does swimming lessons there which are really well organised and run.

Negative experience: Due to a function at the center the (that we was not made aware of before hand) we missed a swimming lesson due to no access to parking and being trapped in the car park for over 15 minutes. The center is unwilling to compensate the lesson missed (no make up session or refund). As a customer I feel this is unreasonable and something that needs to be looked into in terms of discretionary make up lessons when incidents like this arise that are not the fault of the customer. As a service provider customer service/satisfaction is key to business.

Positive experience: It's not a bad place for small functions. Toilet facilities need some improvements. Not big enough to accommodate more than 4 people. Car park also not big enough. Very hard to find parking space. (Luckily not today). If you forget to enter the car registration number in the reception area, you will end up paying the parking charge.

Positive experience: I’m a active member , and I’m just using the gym. But I think the gym should have more equipment as a machine fly and Leg Curl Machine. I think there are some machines there useless just filling space. But the other things as staff and place is very nice !

Positive experience: Dated equipment needing repairs, nothing new in at least 4 years, other centres like Balham have newer cardio equipment such as Watt bikes, Ski erg and rowers. Would be great to see them there too!

Positive experience: The car park is a SCAM. Read the small writing on the sign carefully. Don't just think it is two hours parking. You have to register your car inside. Otherwise a private company will hound you for £100. Otherwise this is a great place. Friendly staff and good facilities.

Negative experience: I have been a regular swimmer at the gym and have always enjoyed using the swimming pool. However, I was disappointed to find out that women-only swimming sessions are scheduled on Saturdays. As someone who has only weekends available for swimming, I was looking forward to attending the Saturday evening swim sessions, but now I am unable to do so. It is outrageous in this day and age to have gender-only sessions, especially at a gym that prides itself on being inclusive and welcoming. Discrimination based on gender is not acceptable and should not be tolerated. I appreciate the reason behind the women-only sessions, but as a paying member, it is frustrating that I cannot access the facilities during my available time. It would be great if there were more opportunities for all members to use the facilities, regardless of gender. Overall, the gym is a great facility, but the women-only sessions are limiting for some members. I hope the gym can consider providing more options for all members to access the swimming pool during the weekends.

Positive experience: Adequate parking spaces and satisfactorily tidy.

Negative experience: Bring a padlock if you want to store anything. Somewhat decent leisure centre but very poor management with significantly outdated technology and an app that doesn't work half the time. Also short hours on saturdays and a lack of 24/7 gym options make other gyms a better use of your money. Only positives are good cleaning schedules for the gym and friendly and helpful staff. Do not recommend and make sure to be careful as a student when trying to cancel membership due to the 15 day notice and additional month of membership.

Positive experience: Tooting leisure centre is satisfactory for any purpose like another normal leisure centre; with a gym, a pool, a small pool for 8 years old, a Cafe, a space where the kids can have fun and play. Including with a big place where you can play basketball, football indoors and badminton.

Fantastic experience: The staff are always lovely and friendly! My little girl loves going in! Waves at everyone! The teaching pool is clean and so are the changing rooms! The showers are unfortunately cold takes a while to get some heat and my little one won't wait that long! But it's not a big issue! We just shower at home!

Fantastic experience: So easy to get in contact with Tooting Leisure Centre and they are very helpful in person and on the phone. The people at front desk are very helpful, and had welcoming faces, it really makes all the difference when people at front desk look pleased to see you. We went to a pool party and the life guard was so calm, patient, attentive, welcoming and professional. We will definitely recommend

Positive experience: I have been as a member on and off for the last 30 years.. it very helpful staff ,clean and suitable classes.. I was enjoying the water aerobics for last 8 months. Hariet the instructor knew what E xcerses suited and catered for wages in the morning class. Now she is left and a horrible instructor who is very rude runs the class . I have to stop as the E xcerses are only for very young and able people.. this is a loss for elderly who were enjoying the water..if the manager can choose a suitable instructor who can help us then it's worth it!

Positive experience: All the staff are really friendly and helpful! Facilities are good - plenty of classes and swim slots available. £30 a month for 25 and unders for gym, swim and classes which is so good for London! Classes include Les Mills and the instructors are super friendly. Great location too - definitely recommend!

Negative experience: No hot showers in girls showers beside girls changing rooms. Changing room 1’s door is broken. Still not fixed. Staff walk through boys changing rooms while they’re dressing. Changing rooms are freezing. Changing cubicles by lockers always smell of urine. Spoken to reception, completed surveys - no change.

Fantastic experience: Thank you for a fantastic day for my daughter's birthday yesterday. All reception to life guards were so lovely, friendly with big smiles. She and her 9 friends had a fun filled day with the inflatables. To anyone thinking of booking "Do" thankyou you so much

Negative experience: I am very disappointed paid £40 for the first month and regret it the first day. The toilet facilities are not working at all. There is a disgusting smell in the shower room due to toilet blockage and no one seems to care. Complain to the reception and it was still the same. Don’t waste your money and time.

Fantastic experience: Best gym in tooting. Not crowded like others and its kept clean. Good variety of machines and they are nicely spaced out, lots free weights and benches. Also the ceiling is quite high and the big windows make the space very airy and nicely iluminated with natural light.

Negative experience: The hygiene in the swimming areas (pool and the changing areas) is disgusting. Even my 12yo daughter asked me "why is so dirty here?" The management seems to be very relax about it...

Positive experience: Pros: only public squash court in area Free parking Nice , friendly and helpful team ( that’s why I have four, otherwise would be three because of the courts conditions ) Good availability Meantime, courts can be in better condition but let’s don’t be so fussy

Negative experience: Gym floor has some okay equipment but it is a bit outdated, completely understand this is a funding issue so this isn't reflective of the rating above. The rating above is for several reasons that are controllable factors. Gym floor staff don't engage with members. PTs have thrown weights around while training (both on and off shift) and been generally disrespecting of equipment, plenty of posturing for no real reason. Lifeguards at poolside are either inattentive, inept or just don't want to do their job; there is no lane management, 10:20 system doesn't tend to be in operation as the majority look bored and spaced out, not watching swimmers. Signed up on a 12 month and I do regret this, should have visited before signing up, only positive is location as it is within walking distance, otherwise would not be a member there.

Negative experience: Please don't bother going to this leisure center , the steam room is not working for over a month because the door is broken, that's an hour labour work but the management is so defectuos, now the sauna is not working as well, maybe they will fix this next year, swimming pool is always dirty, changing room is dirty. Avoid!

Negative experience: Ignoring the terrible technological setup that all leisure centers seem to be forcing upon members in a post-Covid world (they're not professional software developers judging by the booking system), I find it ludicrous that a council-subsidised leisure facility would charge £20 for an hour's badminton. It's insanity. I can afford it, but it's beyond the means of most people in the community. Plus, that £20 gets you not a luxurious, professional-grade court, but a torn, saggy net and a flickering light. Aside from that, it's great!

Fantastic experience: Been going there for years. Has everything you need Brandon is a great PT You also have to enjoy the pool. It is one of the biggest in london Classes included with full membership are also good. Most teachers have a motivational fire, which just catches on

Negative experience: Absymal customer service when speaking to Centre Manager NATHAN. Clearly untrained with an ego inflated beyond that which his position warrants, he repeatedly refused to let me speak when trying to communicate my frustration with the lack of facilities and lack of membership flexibiity during a time when the facilities are so limited. He continued speaking over me, telling me he was not going to allow me to talk. As a customer, whos been paying membership for years, to speak. I was left with no choice but to dismantle this child. In a desperate attempt to salvage his fragile ego he shouted 'now you get nothing' before hanging up. Bless him lol. Direct debit cancelled. Off to fitness first

Fantastic experience: Excellent customer service received by Samuel Clancy. I had issues trying to freeze my membership for health reasons and he was always so efficient and quick to help.

Negative experience: Everything's fine apart from their constant problem with places locker app which don't let you to book a session. Will think of finding another place if they don't fix that.

Negative experience: Hi I'm regular swimming at tooting leisure centre ,every time I book online, today I try to book online but it not letting me book, I call the centre no one answered i left voice messages I'm coming for next session of swimming, I went there , the lady says we were fully booked, , I told her why you guys not answered on phone, or left messages you were fully booked, my comment is, they have no respect for there customers, they not telling the reason why, also this centre needs to improve their customers service, I hope you understand, what I trying says, thx

Negative experience: Being a close neighbour and it’s Member since 2017 I have never had good experience visiting this gym. Often out of order machine. Steam room is breakers every second day. Unhygienic and unprofessional staff. I do not recommended this place to anyone, unless your a student with tight budget and less travel time in hand. Staff can get very rude especially (Tommy), when you ask for help.

Negative experience: They behave good only when you want to joint. Once you joint there behavior is going change. They behaving so bed when you want to leave leisure centre. Very poor services
