Negative experience: Female changing rooms filthiest I’ve ever seen in my life. Floors were terribly flooded, dirty and muddy. Not a wet floor sign in sight. Doesn’t look like there’s been a cleaner in there in God knows how long. Very off putting.

Negative experience: I wanted to wait until one month to make a review of the gym but today a review has to be done due to health and safety matters. Today 18/01/25 I came to the gym and the female changing rooms was flooded with water. The wet floor sign was only outside the door not on the inside. Water was everywhere, it could cause a serious accident and it was a safety hazard. I went out to quickly look for a staff on the floor, no staff was there and the office was locked and empty. I looked for a good 10 mins before I started my workout. I have attached a picture for proof. When I go to this gym I hardly see any staff. No cleaners were around. The changing room should of been closed until it was clean. I was in the gym for over an hour and nothing was done. This is dangerous and it should never happen again. The gym is not free and people are paying for a service. Safety and cleanliness should be a priority.

Positive experience: Great layout of equipment and 24hours! Would love to see the pull up bars in a space where you can do muscle ups as the ceiling is too low. Changing rooms could do with a refresh but overall a great gym and community.

Positive experience: aka “The Dungeon” with controversial staff that supports LGBTQ+ Members are blamed for blocking toilets with blue paper towels and women’s sanitary products. Leading to monthly subscription increases to cover costs of repairing faulty equipment.

Positive experience: Lockers broken into regularly by low life's hanging around changing rooms so I use lockers in the gym but most of those lockers are used by illegal storing overnight

Negative experience: Great gym and easy access - however toilets are pretty grim and could do with regular cleans and topping up the hand soap and toilet paper.

Fantastic experience: i’ve been to a few puregyms and this one is my favourite. The layout of the equipment is just so convenient and easy to use. However, the hot water issue is a recurring one and something I’ve seen mentioned in former reviews too. Should be looked into by Puregym with greater haste and efficiency as some people genuinely need it. Other than that, locker rooms are always very clean and accessible and there are a generous number of cable attachments throughout the gym for users.

Positive experience: People, look at this. I was on holiday for five weeks. I go back to London to the Lewisham gym and there is still no hot water. Can someone explain this to everyone. Because in my opinion there is no explanation for this situation...

Positive experience: As at 18 Feb 2024. Positives: - good selection of equipment and functional fitness area - a selection of good personal trainers - friendly and helpful management team. Negatives: - lack of cleanliness, especially in the showers (significant decline since 2021/22 when standard was quite good) - since December, frequently no hot water in the showers (despite boilers being replaced barely one year ago in Feb-March 2023) - gents toilets occasionally blocked (by a few infantile members who find it amusing to stuff excess toilet paper and blue hand towels down the WC's). Difficult to stop infantile members blocking the toilets, but please fix the boilers so members (and PT's) can enjoy a warm shower after training and make sure changing / showering facilities are properly cleaned daily.

Negative experience: - both urinals in men's changing room - out of action for several weeks now - handsoap dispenser in men's washroom frequently out of soap - the other handsoap dispenser is broken - changing rooms not checked - someone just walks in and signs the 'checked' sheet and walks out without looking at the state of the washrooms (or checking the soap levels for example!) - air conditioning in the free weights area has been inactive for several weeks now in the height of summer A surprisingly bad gym overall. And don't even bother contacting PureGym va email - they'll just tell you to sort it out yourself (I've already informed staff there about the issues that they weren't previously aware of)

Positive experience: Lots of dust on the machines and also the cleaning liquid that is available for visitors to clean benches etc with is often very low or empty. Other than that a great variety of equipment and a good temperature too.

Negative experience: Pure Gym Lewisham, has its ups and downs, mostly down! I have been a member at this gym for a while. It was much better when it was run by Fitness First, but then Pure Gym took it over. Since then things just seem to go from bad to worse. If it wasn't for the personal trainers who are friendly and professional I would have left this gym a long time ago. The men's changing room and toilets tend to have an awful smell with leaks in the toilets on a regular basis. The hot water, as another member had pointed out, had been out of service for months. Last year the bench in the changing room was not fixed down properly causing me injury and now just a few days ago my locker was broken into. All of my belongings were tipped out in the locker and the cash I had in my wallet was gone. My cards were all still there but as a precaution I cancelled them just in case they had been skimmed. I reported it to staff who seemed to play it down and that a locker theft was rare and that it was the fault of a poor quality padlock. My padlock is of excellent quality! I went to the police and reported the theft. The police said there wasn't much they could do but did state that thefts from this gym was quite regular and they have had a lot of members complaining to them. They said that Pure Gym needs to enforce their security but don't. When I went back in to the gym the next day I had to ask for a locker theft form, which I then completed. I was a bit surprised that this was not offered to me when I reported the theft to the staff that day. Another member of staff then heard me talking about the break in and said not another one! Personally I don't think Pure Gym care as long as members keep paying membership. I now need to seriously think of finding another gym. Just because this gym is convenient and close to my home is no longer a good excuse the remain a member here

Negative experience: The rules say keep your shoes on. Everybody in this gymTake their shoes off and the staff just let them use the equipment without shoes. So they spreading their toe fungus everywhere...

Negative experience: PureGym made it difficult to cancel my membership and the gym is dark with no windows. A few machines have been out of service for months

Fantastic experience: Back to Lewisham gym there was a problem with boiler a more detailed reason for the long wait on the repair was given by fitness staff and boiler is now repaired,while the boiler was out of action tried other local Pure gyms Bromley,Catford and there was slight differences. Bromley if you like a lot of open space split over two floors. Catford has similar layout but smaller and all on one floor. Lewisham(my taste)a more compact layout video screens on treadmills and cycles for virtual cardio,plus bag corner. All gyms well equipped and helpful staff but choice will be personal taste.

Positive experience: always there is something broke or out of service buts so far its okay not the best but its okay

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Negative experience: I was very happy with this gym, until they cancelled my favourite class without notice or explanation, just an email cancelling the next class and never offered again. Second time that happened this, in September they did it with step classes and in January with Zumba. A class that was always fully booked and with waiting list. This is not a way to treat your members, bot everyone likes work out some of us like keeping fit dancing, and we don't have option anymore with this gym. Please, put it back our favourite weekly zumba class.

Positive experience: Very clean, airy and spacious with lots of facilities. The staff and gym members are friendly and helpful. I must take this opportunity to congratulate the cleaners who seem to work tirelessly to keep the whole place exceptionally spotless and fresh. A lovely, lively gym with a great atmosphere. It's the kind of place one would travel to, even if they lived a distance away. It's one of the best gyms I've been to.

Don't expect the dumbbells to be sorted more than once a month; a couple of treadmills have been out of use for probably 2 years, and so has the second, much needed leg extension machine. Oh, and there's no heating in the changing room. Other than that, it's a gym, it's local and you don't need shoes to train. The staff is really good at replying to feedback, but they have so far failed to address any of the endemic issues this gym suffers from. 16 March 2023 update: there has been no hot water since 24 February. 11 July 2023 update: all machines are currently working really well. The layout has been greatly improved and new much needed machines have been added. The only thing that still needs sorting, and this has been a problem for a while, is the lockers. Many are broken and at busy times it’s difficult to find an empty functioning one. 27 November 2023 update: all lockers have now been replaced. And the current manager deserves a shout out for his bonhomie. Well done guys. 12 January 2024 update: Unfortunately, the ongoing issue with the gym's hot water persists. Once again, the facility is without hot water. Moreover, the lack of heating in the changing room in inexcusable. Changing in sub-zero temperatures is far from enjoyable.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Negative experience: Good value gym but by far the messiest gym I’ve ever been to. Clients rarely re-rack weights and staff couldn’t care less.

Negative experience: There’s always problems in this gym. I find it quite silly that not only have I upgraded my membership but even to have the Yanga sports water as a bonus the machine barely works. Can’t even use the fountain as I’ve witnessed gym goers wrapping their lips around the faucet as well as using it as a spit pot. The machines are always broken and if that’s not broken something else is, like the ceiling. They randomly take out certain equipment and change it for something new yet what they’ve exchanged it for tends to be poor equipment and have the audacity to want to charge an additional £2 in December, that’s a vio and a literal slap in the face. Taking the absolute mick, please make it make sense. Absolutely appalled.

Negative experience: The gym is to small and can hardly breath in there, only about 5 benches having saying that weights are all over the place no body puts them back!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym before lockdown, since then I whent back again this year. Amazing they are still the same very good environment the whole team is always friendly, the trainers are doing great job with the classes. I love taking the the Circuits classes the trainers they support you they are very good. A trainer named Kevin is doing a great job, I love your classes keep it up, you are a great trainer. I recommend this gym

Fantastic experience: go to this gym for almost 2 years now and had never anything to complain. The whole staff is always friendly and caring. The trainers are are doing a great job with classes and being available to help you out. One trainer in particular Petya who helped me out get fitter and recover from my back injury. She listened and created a program unique just for my given circumstances and abilities and I cannot thank her enough. The pain is getting less and I can move and do more. Highly recommend this gym!

Fantastic experience: Booked the "get started" class and had Tanner show me around the gym. Tanner was incredibly diligent during the session, he showed me the facilities and explained what the purpose were for each area and confidently answered any question that I had. He even asked what my personal goals were to better aid me by recommending relevant classes and directing me to specific area of the gym. I definitely had a pleasant experience . Thanks Tanner

Fantastic experience: I really like this gym and would strongly recommend it. It is quite a busy gym, but there is enough equipment that you don't have to wait for someone else to finish to get on with your own workout. It has decent facilities for wiping things down, and the members seem polite and friendly. There is also an exercise room for classes that is always open if a class isn't on, so if you need some space you can do something in there -- I've practised karate in there a few times. They also have a weighing scale in the changing rooms that will do BMI, body fat percentage etc for about £1. The shower facilities are some of the best I've seen in a large gym.

Positive experience: The personal trainers are crazy helpful, even when you don't hire them, they will help you out if you ask a question of how to you the equipment, or if they see you using it incorrectly. The gym had a very good variety of weights and cardio equipment. Also the workouts look really good, although I am yet to try one out, but will very soon.
Positive experience: I have a membership to all pure gyms and I would say that this would be the worst. Not to say it's bad I just have ahead better experiences elsewhere. First of all the layout is abhorrent, there are no locks where you have showers. The facilities feel cheap, the membership here costs £15 per month so I would say you get what you pay for they have the machines I need so for that I would give it four stars as it cant really improve as it bought cheaper equipment and has less space so it would benefit some people.

Staff do regular cleaning checks in the gym and we have dedicated cleaning teams who come each night to carry out and comply with internal and external audits. Of course, during peak times it can be difficult for us to compete all cleaning routines, however as soon as it is possible our staff will complete all procedures and checks. If you have concerns with the cleanliness in your gym we can check the cleaning rotas and ensure all procedures are being followed.
