Fantastic experience: My 3 year old daughter has nearly completed her first 12 week swimming lessons. She absolutely loved it . Shes had a few instructors teach her and they’ve all been brilliant. She is so confident in the water already and looks forward to it each week . Nicola has been great keeping in contact and any problems or questions she gets back to us straight away . Great communication and great swimming instructors. Would highly recommend .

Positive experience: My children have been learning swimming with Nicola at Rubery Nuffield since they are 1 year old. Nicola responds to our queries with regards go change of times or our concerns or long term illness of our children , provides quick advice snd support .Nicola is our children’s favourite swim teacher, she is very good teaching early stages through which my children gained confidence and skills.

Fantastic experience: I did 1 to 1 adult swimming lessons with Nicola, I can not recommend this enough, I had no confidence in the water, I could barely float and would never venture to the deep end. With her patience and teaching I was swimming with confidence, and have lost my fear of deep water. In just 12 weeks she has given me freedom to swim, I can now confidently do breast stroke, back stroke and front crawl. If you want to learn how to swim no matter how old you are, do the I to 1 classes, it has definitely made a difference to me.

Fantastic experience: Took my daughter for her swimming lessons. After an enquiry on the Monday she had a trial session the next day. Nicola was great and supported her well until she knew my daughters capabilities. The group was small which made for a good lesson.

Negative experience: Shocking experience . Joined this gym a few months ago , since joining may parent died in Ireland in which I had to return . I emailed letting a staff member called Lucy no in which she made it impossible for me to cancel my contract . Very inhuman of this company’s standards shame on you

Negative experience: I've been at this gym for over four months, and I've noticed a couple of key aspects that need improvement. Firstly, the gym equipments are notably outdated and poorly maintained – a prime concern for any fitness facility. An example of this is the triceps machine, which has been broken for several months with no apparent effort for repair or maintenance. Secondly, regarding the pool and sauna facilities, while the overall temperature is acceptable, the sauna consistently operates at a low temperature, rendering it ineffective. Additionally, the steam room lacks proper maintenance; users are required to manually add water to generate steam, which is inconvenient and reflects a lack of attention to facility upkeep. Note: the machines in the pictures below have been broken for ages now( still a few more).

Negative experience: When I first joined Nuffield, as a junior, it was good, there was sensible rules and a good community, not the best gym but it did exactly what I needed, until they out these restrictions into place. The new rules is no junior can use any machines or weights, unless the machines are in the cardio room, the issue is those machines are very limited and I can’t exercise properly, the staff are very strict on this and make sure that all junior members can’t go into the weight room. I would respect these decisions if they provided juniors the ability to still exercise properly, but all were able to effectively do is work legs. The staff take things far to personally and tent to talk about people to their clients, like how we overheard a pt talking about my friend to her client, despite us being juniors we feel it’s reasonable to ask that if we’re paying to be able to exercise, we should be able to. I am seriously considering changing gym as Nuffield has become insufferable with its new rules and ridiculously immature staff. I feel they should instead of basing access to the weight room off age, they could approach it how they do the pool, test capability to use the equipment, and allow access to the people who they know they can trust to use it appropriately.

Negative experience: I’m am seriously unhappy about the treatment I have received from the staff at Nuffield health Great Park. One member of staff in particular has been extremely rude and unprofessional. This is Denise Smith. On multiple occasions she has approached me and told me to leave the weight room. As a junior, fairly enough, I left and I was impolitely told to only use the landing and cardio room. I understood and went on my way using equipment on the landing. Then she approached me again( almost as if searching for me ) and told me to get off the landing and I wasn’t allowed to use this equipment despite her previous statement. I went to continue my workout and I was once again approached and was rudely remarked again as if I’m not a paying customer. She started making up new rules I hadn’t even been told and berated me to leave. She has on multiple occasions over several months been unprofessional and seems to target me specifically. Henceforth i am seriously considering leaving this gym and joining a contesting gym. Also I really think this PT should be looked into. Kind regards from your fellow patron, Louis debuse

Negative experience: Been a member of this place on and off, since it was Greens. It was once a really nice place. Sadly everything about it has gone down hill. The decor is tired and dirty, the cardio machines are old and clunky, what used to be a decent bar is now a café which is hardly ever open, the opening hours have been reduced, two of the three Jacuzzis are permanently out of order, the pool is hired out for swimming lessons so reduced availability to members, I could go on. The prices are significantly higher and I'm sure they've broken they're own terms and conditions. A premium price membership for very mediocre facilities. Nuffield seem to have pretty low standards!

Negative experience: This review has nothing to do with the staff as everyone I’ve met has been kind and easy to talk to . The problem is the price for what you get . The gym is outdated , the steam room never works . They have one jacuzzi out of 3 and it’s the cold one . Honestly these guys want like 80 pound a month . Save yourself the money and go to a regular gym for 20/25 pound as that’s all this place is now . I’d rather have a better gym than a pool . That’s just me though

Fantastic experience: My daughter attends swimming classes with Kristen. WOW! What a teacher! I came across many swimming teachers but honestly no one can beat her. My daughter had a really low confidence in the water and it only took a few months for Kristen to change her to a completely different child in the water. Her lessons are so organised, engaging and fun! My daughter absolutely loves her swimming classes and I love to see her making great progress! Very highly recommended!

Negative experience: My husband, our son and myself joined in April. Unless things change, we already know we won’t be renewing our memberships next year when our contracts run out. It has the potential to be a fantastic gym, but it’s just lacking in too many areas. The positives: The staff are exceptionally helpful and very approachable. Love the sauna and steam room (although I do wish the steam room wasn’t as noisy as it is). The whole place is pretty clean (although some areas could do with a makeover). The women’s changing rooms and showers are satisfactory. The negatives: The jacuzzi’s are now permanently closed. The pool is now often cold. Gym equipment is regularly out of order. The classes are repetitive. The cafe has closed. The opening hours aren’t as competitive as other local gyms. The spray tan facilities have been broken for months and apparently the manager is refusing for it to be repaired/replaced. I don’t mind paying what we do if I felt we were getting value for money. However, I feel that we’re now just not getting anything more than what we’d get for £25.00 at Northfield gym and pool. I think they really do need to give this place a bit of a makeover and give it something more than other local gyms in order to keep their clients. I’ve spoken to quite a few fellow Nuffield Rubery gym members when there, and they all seem to be saying the same thing - great potential, used to be good, but going downhill now.

Positive experience: This was once a top gym and health club, however in recent years the facilities and services provided have gone downhill. Membership prices have increased but several facilities have been removed. Opening hours have reduced, facilities members were told would be reopened have been permanently closed. It's still one of the better clubs in the area and some improvements have been made recently however still not really receiving the value we should for the cost of the membership. At the time of writing this edit Sauna has been closed for 2 weeks requiring repair and members have received no reimbursement or extra benefit to make up for it.

Negative experience: The staff are helpful and friendly but are being let down by a poor facility. It's generally unloved and in desperate need of updating. The membership fees went up this year only for them to close the spas. When you think they're commanding £69+ a month for a standard membership it's really not worth it! It's a shame really as it has the potential to be a good gym!

Positive experience: Went here with a Hussle pass to take my little one swimming for the day. Reception was lovely and the pool is a decent temp for little ones. Baby kids swim was 10am-12. We arrived and had the pool to ourselves the whole time. Haven’t given it 5 stars as I think the changing rooms could do with a bit of an update. Locker keys are on a grubby thick elastic band. Other than these things it’s a nice place to visit with plenty of parking.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at Rubery gym for just over a month now and I feel that it is important to put a honest review about the gym in general. Firstly I was welcomed by very friendly informative staff on reception who explained what my membership entails and the gyms facilities. I was put in contact with one of the managers Carl who was very good at understanding my needs and explained everything in detail prior to me joining the gym. I found the facilities at the gym very good especially the pool , stream room, sauna and jacuzzis and enjoy using these facilities. I haven’t used the other gym equipment yet but will soon be on the tread mill and weights in the near future. What makes the gym at Rubery good is the customer service that’s provided by all of its staff and around the pool. The staff on reception have always got a smile. One lady who I have to name is Kim who has got time to talk and understands what customer service is all about. I must say I enjoy and look forward to visiting the gym after a hard days work and can relax. Thank you to all staff Just on a different note. The gym could do with a little sprucing up in certain areas and new equipment but overall it does the job. Thank you to all

Positive experience: Really love coming to this gym, been coming since the centre was called 'greens' back a fair few years. The staff on front desk are friendly and really helpful, generally all staff are welcoming when walking around the gym. Slightly concerned about the price we pay as members and the lack of upkeep, noticed recently a lot of scruffy bits creeping in. The equipment is not very well maintained and just feel for the price we pay it is a little worse for wear. Also the opening times on the weekend are not very competitive when you look at local gyms offering 10pm closes and even 24hours in some cases. Some of us work until later times in the weekend and can't make the 8pm close. Is there a plan to freshen up the place?

Negative experience: The gym itself is fairly decent, not really worth the £60+ a month though in my opinion, and the lifeguards at the swimming pool are about as useful as a dry wet wipe. Almost impossible to get a workout in the pool, as there's too many people messing about in the swim lanes and the staff aren't interested in doing anything about it.

Negative experience: I have been a member of the gym for almost three years. In general, it is good place with helpful staff and great installations. However, terms of my contract stated that a clear month notice is required, giving notice on a 3rd of the month that left me to paying 28 days of the following month even though I am out of the country and cannot use the gym. The manager contradicted the staff member that took my notice assuring me that only the proportional part of the month was going to be paid. I find this abusive and the manager enforcing this gave me really bad last impression of the gym. It is a pity, and bad customer service.

Negative experience: Failing to understand why you chose to close at 8pm just because it’s the week between Christmas and new year. Disappointed as you pay a premium and there are no reimbursements offered. My membership states Monday to Thursday 630am till 10pm with closing times of 9pm Friday and 8pm sat sun. Yes there was a sign put up and yes I failed to read it however if you reduce the operating times surely this should reflect on the ever increasing membership fees.

Fantastic experience: having never stepped foot in a gym before I didn't really know what to expect . Carl the duty manager was excellent in answering the questions and concers that we had . The gym is very well laid out and easy to use with plenty of equipment . We signed up the very next day and have used the facility's a few times. Very happy with our decision to join Nuffield Health in Rubery.

Negative experience: Membership fees increased again, and for what? Centre is generally tatty, grubby, scuffed and tired, no care in appearance (rusty metal surfaces, scuffs on everything, paint peeling, ingrained grime). Equipment worn out and dated. Equipment frequently removed and never replaced. No significant investment in three years. Equipment and spa facilities broken for days. Pool often sectioned off for lessons. Changing rooms dirty often and gotten worse. Wipes often run out. No free passes for friends. Opening hours at weekends reduced. Clientele badly behaved and not challenged;, hogging / reserving equipment and not putting weights back. Frankly not impressed with increased price for what you get. Update - now reduced to 1* as Nuffield have closed spa pools with 3 days notice (breaking their own contract terms) yet not reduced membership fees. Final straw. Have cancelled. If you are thinking of joining AVOID.

Negative experience: My boys attended this gym for swimming lessons and although the group sizes were brilliant the attitude of some of the the staff made sending them here unbearable. Josh who is in charge of swimming lessons will not speak to you face to face only via email, when he does email he comes across very rude. At the beginning I spent the first month trying to get my son who could swim with no arm bands out of stage 1 where they placed him! The lessons often started late meaning my child did not get his full 30 minutes. One of the lifeguards walks around with a massive attitude. They would cram 6 children into a lesson but only allow a width to fit maybe 3 (as private member have priority) so they would have 3 at the front and 3 at the back. The teacher was not able to really see the 3 at the back and these were children who could not swim as they were in ducklings. On at least 2 occasions I saw a child go under the water. I did speak to the manager about all this when I left. There were a lot of unhappy parents there when I left, Its a shame as it does have potential to be a good swimming school.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, always clean, staff are friendly and approachable, pool and jacuzzis are nice, the equipment could be better but there's more than enough to do, they offer members a free MOT so you can really track your progress.

Fantastic experience: Good facilities, standard sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool. Weights section is good, the cardio bit is a bit tightknit. Overall a good experience. Toilet needs a bit of tlc.

Positive experience: Gym is generally clean and spacious. It's not often busy so you can get onto a machine easily. The staff seem pretty polite, the trainers likable and the cleaners particularly are friendly and nice. There's nowhere near enough classes in the evenings or weekends, considering how expensive the gym membership is. The swimming lessons are a rip-off, with you being trained in a pool alongside normal swimmers which means you keep getting in each other's way. I paid for lessons at Birmingham University which is much cheaper and they put you in a separate part of the pool so you learn properly. Another downside is that the cafe is always closed in the afternoon/evenings and there's nowhere to buy water, it's just bottles of pop and energy drinks.

Fantastic experience: This is a good gym. Nice and clean everywhere. Friendly staff and are very helpful and always doing there job. It's a shame that the Nuffield broadway plaza gym is not the same standard as this Nuffield gym. I had a really bad experience at broadway plaza gym as my membership allows me to use it for free. I experienced that the broadway plaza gym is very dirty and old fashioned. Staff there have a really bad attitude. Can't believe Its owned by the same company. I am so glad this Nuffields gym is closer to me. Keep up the good work guys.

Fantastic experience: Mixed feelings about this gym some members of staff are exceptional and passionate about what they do others not do. I have done spinning for many years but find the classes here under some instructors dangerous, instructing moves that should never be performed on a spinning bike and also not teaching any technique means results will not be achieved. I find the changing rooms and some areas of the gym in disrepair and dirty/old/worn.

Positive experience: Nice gym but the staff need to start getting a grip of people's lack of etiquette; not stripping bars, leaving dumbells out ect. Other than this I would recommend.
