Positive experience: Here's my poem for this branch that's closed today with only three days notice and no alternatives given to it's users. Pure Gym, oh Pure Gym, how swift you depart, Three days’ notice given, and it breaks the heart. No warning, no care, just locked-up doors, Leaving your members abandoned, ignored. To the new owners, Fitness First, we plea— Will you grant us signal? Set the WiFi free? This dungeon of darkness, a cage without bars, Where we scrambled for service, like wishing on stars. Safety ignored, as we crammed in one place, Just to load up online content—what a crowded disgrace! We beg for more machines, to calm the machine hogs, The snobs, who linger and turn sets into slogs. And trainers, oh trainers, we’ve felt the sting, Pushed out of the studio for your personal thing. Will the new reign be fair, will we reclaim our space, Or be sidelined again with a dismissive face? And let’s not forget the lurking cleaner— A presence that’s… well, let’s say it’s leaner and meaner. So Fitness First, we leave this note in your hands— Restore what was lost, and meet our demands. Negative experience: Been a member here for two years as it’s the only gym in the area and I can safely say that this is the worst of many gyms I’ve been to in my life. The vending machines have had problems for the last 7 months. The flavored water machine which I pay extra for has also been broken for the last 7 months. The gym is damaged and staff cannot be bothered to fix small issues. Staff are miserable and stuck up despite having barely enough knowledge to perform their roles. Members are a bunch of entitled prats who pretty much come just to waste time and hog the machines. I look forward for the day I move houses so that I do not have to step foot in this hellhole again.
Positive experience: Full of entitled snobs, yet ironically they’re in a cheap gym, who know very little to nothing about working out. When I joined, the concept of sharing the machine and someone else doing a set in between was foreign concept to most. However, the staff were top people and the facilities weren’t too bad.
Fantastic experience: I joined the gym to try to get to a basic level of fitness, having realised I couldn't get up a flight of stairs without creaking. The classes at this gym have been really helpful and the staff are very accommodating. It's such a good price for a central London location too.
Fantastic experience: Nice gym, compact and in a great location. Feels a bit of a throwback in a good way, no pounding techno/house - people try to actually exercise
Positive experience: Small but decent gym, never too busy. Yanga water machine has been out of service for over 3 months - don't think they'll fix it.
Positive experience: There’s always an issue here. If it’s not the air conditioner, it’s the water!
Negative experience: Gym opening times at 06:30 It is now 06:35, and Gym is still closed... On top of that, in the last few days no water available both the water fountain and the water flavoured machine broken, so you need water you need to pay 1,90 for a small bottle. Hot gym in the gym area, no AC and AC super strong on the locker rooms. Not sure what is going on in this place, but if wasn't the location, I would never put my feet in here again. Worst puregym where I ever have been.
Negative experience: I arrived at the gym and there is no customer service. I clicked on help and there was no response from the gym staff
Positive experience: Great value for money. Very busy at rush hour. Often no soap or toilet paper at busy times.
Negative experience: It's too much scattered all over. Bad design.
Fantastic experience: This place is fantastic. Excellent place to get a pump and pick up beautiful women. The PT Mobs is the best (slightly racist tho).
Fantastic experience: Great gym and wonderful staff.
Positive experience: The gym itself is fine - clean and nowhere near as busy as other PureGyms. That said, it would be too small for me to use all the time, with it missing some relatively basic equipment. Came a second time and the WiFi was down, there were no staff to rectify, and no music or semblance of atmosphere. Given that it’s all underground with zero windows, it was probably one of the lead inspiring gym visits I’ve had.
Fantastic experience: Great and friendly staff members and management (especially Susana, John and Harold). The gym is always clean and tidy which makes you enjoy your workout. I would recommend anyone to join this gym if they're local.
Negative experience: Staff have little regard for social distancing and respond rudely and bullishly when interacting with customers. Small gym area is in a cramped basement that is poorly ventilated and always hot. Avoid at all costs and use the array of professional facilities in the area that have a higher standard of service and management expected to find in Central London.

On the size of the gym, as we do not own the buildings for our gyms it is not always possible to extend the site itself. Fantastic experience: Odie is fab, have had classes with him and he always has enough time to come over and talk you through the moves and your form. Booking every class he does!!
Positive experience: The place is a little small but cozy. Personally there aren't enough benches
Negative experience: Nobody answers the call bell. Can't upgrade existing PLUS membership to use gym. When eventually getting access there is minimal equipment for legs.

Negative experience: It's an ok gym if your passing through town, but in my opinion could never be considered as one's 'home gym' due to the limited space, lack of equipment and peak times being pandemonium It's former guise as LA fitness was far more functional, even with the pool and sauna taking up 33% of overall space Puregym need to improve their smaller sites if they want to attract a consistent member base
Negative experience: Very disappointed with this gym. It's located in a basement which gets super hot this time of the year and there's no AC. I've tried a class in the studio and it was impossible to keep going because it's so hot. The gym is also hard to navigate and the instructors who run the classes act as if they don't want to be there. The classes I've joined felt like they were just improvising. The instructor running cycle didn't even wear a mic so it was impossible to hear him. I was looking forward to using this gym since it's so close to work, even signed for plus membership so I could do so but will downgrade back to using the gym closer to my home only. Can't believe a gym in central London runs like this one!

Fantastic experience: Great for what you pay
Fantastic experience: This is a lovely place and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Two suggestions: ask people who've put on loads of perfume to shower before using the gym, and ban spray deodorants in the changing rooms. The man who does the cleaning at 5pm during the week does a great job!

Negative experience: The gym is quite small but sufficient, but it is impossible to take a shower, the water is too warm or cold. When you complain, nobody really cares...

Fantastic experience: Beyond happy to have found this gym, I have joined and left so many gyms in the past due to the high volume of people and being constantly interrupted by personal trainers trying to sign you up (or chat you up) this gym is not like that at all and all of the Personal trainers/ staff and members are polite, professional and friendly… I have finally found a personal trainer (Martin Filani) who is working with me to help me achieve my goals, he is highly knowledgeable, gives me daily expert advice, friendly, professional at all times and it’s been an absolute pleasure working with him over the last few months! So thank you Martin! The gym overall has a family vibe and it is such a breath of fresh air to find a personal trainer/ gym who knows their stuff, doesn’t let you quit (even if you beg), and who doesn't try to chat you up or make you feel uncomfortable - finally I can sweat in peace !! Would recommend to everyone and anyone and would be happy to share my review on other platforms if that would be helpful. Thank you Martin/ pure gym - always a pleasure!
Negative experience: Staff are extremely friendly and helpful but the free weight section, you can't even call that a section just call it and add on you, what a waste of pre-workout ♀️
Negative experience: I visited this gym for the first time and I have to say, I was disappointed.The gym itself is quite small. One of the most frustrating things was the lack of clear directions. I had to ask staff members for help, which added to my frustration. It would have been nice to have clear signs pointing to different areas of the gym. While the equipment was decent, the small size and lack of clear directions made it difficult to enjoy my workout
Positive experience: Nice gym but really small, also you have to walk through a corridor to go from free weights to machines, it makes it hard to superset
Fantastic experience: An amazing experience finding this gem randomly during business travel. Self service sign up, walk in and walk out with a code. The revolving entrance/exit door mechanism gives one a feeling of superman telephone booth transformation. All machines are proportionally situated across the floor including group classes.

Negative experience: Waited 15 minutes after pressing the visitor buzzer numerous times and not one member of staff came. I then had the exact same experience in the Marleybone branch. I’m a PureGym member and disgusted by this, maybe focus your time on hiring less lazy road men and people with empathy.
Positive experience: Lovely gym which doesn’t get too busy even at peak hours but it’s very disjointed. The free weights area is in a different section to everything else and the actual free weights training area is very small. The gym is clean and staff are helpful so overall good experience!

Positive experience: A small but functional gym with lots of facilities. Doesn't generally get that busy even at peak times. Plenty of space and machines etc to do your workout around others. Edit: been here for nearly a year now. Gets busy during evenings on weekdays between 5-7pm. The caretaker who comes in the evenings does an excellent job.

Fantastic experience: Amazing Gym, Helpful and welcoming staff. I did the learn to run class today with Odie and I managed to run for 30 minutes (I never have done this and get really tried after 5 min of running). I would recommend this gym and the ‘learn to run’ class for everyone :).

Positive experience: It's fine. Has everything an average person who simply wants to improve their general fitness might need. The negatives are that the entire gym always smells awful (especially the women's changing room) and it gets VERY hot as there is poor ventilation and AC.

Negative experience: I think you misunderstand I didn’t complain about the cleaning The gym so gym always is super clean . but the complaint is about returning the weight and tidy the complain was fro weights it’s not my job to return back if anyone els used the leave there also I think they shouldn’t expect me a member or costumer to tidy up the weight In the attitude of the member of the staff asking me to do that was my complain

Negative experience: Foul smell of gas I have been a member of Pure gym (Great Portland Street) for many years and I am using the gym frequently. The gym is clean and the staff friendly. However, the TV’s have not been working for more than six months. They were working fine beforehand. The staff provides conflicting answers to the solution such as a chip is missing and very difficult to find or the residential building, where the gym is based, is interfering with the signal. I visited the gym last week for the first time in a month and there is now a foul smell of gas near the exercise mats. Both my husband and I raised with the staff last week and they reported it to management. They said that the smell is coming from the sewage vent. Like the TV’s nothing is being done about it and the smell today was unbearable. Fellow gym goers are all commenting on the foul stench. The monthly membership has just increased which I do not have a problem with if the gym is working properly however, I cannot envisage that we will continue as members for much longer due to the polluted air.

Staff do regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers and facilities team to ensure that if there are any issues they are resolved as soon as possible. We are equally disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers or specific resources to resolve the issue but will have everything back up-and-running as soon as it’s safely possible. Staff also do regular cleaning checks in the gym and we have dedicated cleaning teams who come each day to carry out. Of course, during peak times it can be difficult for us to compete all cleaning routines, however as soon as it is possible our staff will complete all procedures and checks. Negative experience: the place is now closed. why bother telling its customers?! UPD the gym has now asked for more details. what is not clear here? I paid for parking, turned up for the class at this gym and faced a closed gym. why was I not informed? a notification of a class cancellation came in 30mins prior to the class.

Fantastic experience: A good place to get your muscles done, have separate rooms for yoga, cardio and free weights. It would be nicer if the cardio room (main space) can cool down a bit. I mean it can be fairly hot when there are a bunch of people running and sweating.

Negative experience: The staff is unbelievable, I ve left shocked how rude the staff member guy was rude. Thats unacceptable regarding the fact that you're in the hub of London and you're representing yourself like that! Not worth the 1 star!

Negative experience: I would rate this gym more if it wasn’t for the very loud music . Gym music are rubbish hence people bring their headphones . But it’s worse when you can’t hear your own music cause the gym one is so loud please . Especially in the mornings thank you

Positive experience: Using this gym because the TCR one is closed for repair. So obviously having extra traffic from there doesn't help the experience especially at peak times. Leg Machine room is tiny and doesn't feel safe at times when 5 people are in there. Spacing of equipment is silly at times, almost on top of one another. Cable machine in the free weights room has a bench right infront of it so can't be used to its full potential. Spend most of the time navigating the maze!
Positive experience: I prefer Marylebone and Tottenham Court Road gyms, I'm not that keen on the layout of this one. Last time I was there I felt like a lost lamb walking through a maze, finding the exit was challenging too
Negative experience: Extremely poorly equipped. Everything is very old and misses a lot of crucial equipment. Only 1 bench press c’mon...
Positive experience: Visit this gym several times a week after work. Convenient location. Waiting for them to re-open so I can get back to it!
Negative experience: Purchased an 3-month PLUS fixed-term membership when I recently moved to London because I didn't know where I'd live and the PLUS membership gives you access to 261+ gyms. When I finally found an apartment, a couple of week after signing up, it turns out my pin wouldn't work in the gym near me. Not only that, customer service refuses to either allow me to pay an up-charge to add this gym, or switch gyms altogether. Not even asking for a refund or charge-free way of switching gyms. Just asking for a solution, and I'll pay for it. They continue to refuse and are asking me to purchase another 3-month PLUS fixed-term membership even though I will be leaving London in 3 weeks.

Negative experience: The place is filthy, cleaner sits on phone all day. Showers and toilets are always blocked n overflowing.
Positive experience: Been going here for 5 months now. It was quieter towards the end of the year and is quite busy now but there’s not too much queuing for gear. When I first started here it would have been nice to ask a staff member but I didn’t see anyone for my first few visits, by this time I’d figured everything out. Still not really sure if anyone works there other than the trainers and cleaners. I like the crowd, never feel that it’s full of meatheads, and it’s a good mix of girls and guys.

Positive experience: Good gym / location for me. A few points for the managers to consider with regards to improvement. 1. The men’s loo’s always stink. There is always a strong smell of urine. Please use Bleach!! 2. There needs to be more mirrors in the changing rooms. 3. Fix the aircon in the studio - although I believe this has recently been resolved.
Positive experience: Great, quality classes offered. Always clean and never too busy.
Negative experience: The class is always packed and overtook people in one room. Late update of the class and not allow to cancel after. Sometimes no notifications if get on the class. Awful management

Positive experience: Love the gym and the space in the changing rooms. My only issue is the studios could be bigger and the air con really needs some work as it can get quite hot, especially in the changing rooms and studios.

Negative experience: Gym is quite small but doesnt have many users in the mornings. Rarely do i wait for apparatus to be free to use. The changing room is very spacious which is nice. The showers though are terrible - on a timer, changes from hot to cold and also many showers have the locks removed.

Fantastic experience: Small intimate gym tucked away on the back streets of central London. Perfect and affordable if you work on Central and want somewhere to workout on your lunch break
Negative experience: Quite small but staff are good and the gym is not too busy. The real issue is that is like a sauna in there. I have been a member for around 9 months and the air conditioning has been consistently broken throughout that time meaning it becomes an absolute sweatbox and a really unpleasant experience

I’m glad to hear there are certain aspects of the gym you enjoy but sad to hear of the heating issue. Fantastic experience: I'm coming very often. Alt least 2/3 times a week... What can I say... The gym is placed in a good location (I'm working for Harris and Hoole the coffee shop down the road) .. Staff is simply amazing thanks to Dana, Samuel, Ash and Andrew..

Negative experience: My locker got broken in to while I was at the gym, despite using the puregym lock. No one to report this to, no manager listed online, no contact number, no response to multiple emails. It appears from reading online that locker theft is common across their gyms, and it doesn’t seem to bother any of the staff Cheap and cheerful gym otherwise but unfortunately with a dark twist

At peak times especially, staff may be occupied leading classes or with their clients and so can't come right away, but whenever they are free they will be more than happy to come welcome you and show you around. Fantastic experience: Small gym but complet nice place to training and good PT
Negative experience: Its a shame that LA Fitness was a better gym than this is at the time. I wouldn’t reccomend this gym. I use it out of convenience but now I will be moving to EasyGym as it’s the same distance from where I am located. It’s been 3months now and the trx in the gym still hasent been fixed even after mentioning this already to puregym. Some of the weights that are under 10kg are pretty battered up and the protection material for your hands has come off making it really unpleasant. The battle rope is ripped up.. There is also one “instructor” that walks all around and over you while he is cleaning the weights, literally, stepping over the bench that I am sat on........ LITERALLY. There’s not enough space in the freeweights area to move around. No real space to deadlift, let alone do any Olympic lifting.

Regarding the TRX, there is a knot in it but it is still securely fastened and operates exactly the same without any faults. As for some of the equipment, we are looking to bring in new dumbbells in the functional area to maintain a high standard. However the battle rope is fine and is not ‘ripped up’. Also, we can raise your thoughts with the staff member in question and speak about how other members are still training and maybe using the equipment. Negative experience: Urine smell in male changing room. Equipment is below average and not in the best condition, but still more or less acceptable. Lazy instructors with very limited knowledge. Anyway for its price the place is ok. Just could be a bit cleaner and better maintained.

Positive experience: Well equipped gym that is conveniently located for any one working in central London. Not overly busy at lunch time but I would consider alternatives for after work at 6pm as it can get very busy.
