Altrincham Leisure Centre

Negative experience: Changing rooms are filthy, toilets smell awful, pool isn't clean, lockers are not secure and the temperature was absolutely freezing in the children's pool. The pool staff prioritised their comfort above the welfare of children and paying customers; insisting they were warm and needed to have the fire exit wide open on a rainy windy day, right next to a cold pool, so the swimming experience was unbearably cold and when my child got out soaking wet he was immediately met by cold wind, to waddle back to the cold/dirty changing rooms with cold showers. His lips were turning blue by the time we were getting dressed to leave. I never went back after that. I used to come every weekend as a child but it's gone so far down hill. My friends/family have always refused to take their children here and I can absolutely see why.

Fantastic experience: A beautiful old building in the heart of the community, good prices and comfortable feeling

Positive experience: Good place for badminton. It has a swimming pool, table tennis and other activities too.

Negative experience: The lady was rude and the lockers are smashed and people try to steal your stuff. Worst Leisure centre ever

Negative experience: Filthy condition, none of the changing room stalls lock and only a couple of them even have doors, the urinal had a bucket under to catch all the dripping water. The lockers were torn apart most didn't have doors and a lot had out of service signs on them, I did not feel that my stuff was safe. Some of the lifeguards are terrible, I saw a kid struggling to swim and they didn't even try to help that same lifeguard even called me and my friends "tapped in the head", also when the lane floats came off and were just floating round the pool she didn't do anything. This place is atrocious and I would never recommend going to it.

Negative experience: Really run down and filthy. Stalls in the changing rooms are mostly missing doors, floors and grout are grimy, lockers only take old pound coins. Definitely will not be going again.

Positive experience: A bit old, facilities are kept in OK condition, usually quite crowded. Good for swimming and racket sports, not good for gym. Would recommend if you can't find better options.

Positive experience: Great Pilates and Yoga classes

Negative experience: It’s not terrible, but it definitely needs some money putting into renovating it. The grout on the swimming pool is very noticeably worn away, the benches in the changing rooms are all paint chipped, it just looks very run down and dilapidated all over really. It’s adequate for a swim, although be careful taking a small child in the larger pool, our son was shivering after 30mins! The staff are all very nice and the lifeguard was very observant and watching everyone carefully.

Negative experience: There no cleanness in the pool changing area for kids. It's always stinking and toilets blocked..ceiling roof is coming down. It's a health and safety hazard. Just because the swimming instructors are good I have to take my daughter. I have been generous to give it 1star. They should complete rip the building out and put a new one there.

Negative experience: Sadly the place is outdated and in need of repair, the good news is it is going to happen soon.

Negative experience: We took our 2 little boys for a swim and I can’t believe the disgusting state this place is in. My children were freezing, the pool was cold and the whole place need a good clean!!. There weren’t any signs stating that the lockers only take old pound coins and we weren’t informed by reception of this so we only found this out when our new pound coin became jammed in the locker which meant we had to mess around taking the whole families clothing and valuables out of the locker and were told to leave them at the side of the pool. I never write reviews but this place needs closing as there’s nothing pleasant it at all.

Positive experience: I have been loving the bubble swim. The process and ease of booking has been wonderful. Some money spent on the toilets would improve the facilities greatly.

Positive experience: Had a game of squash here. Courts pretty tired and floors old with dead bounces.

Positive experience: I've been a member here for about 4 years now. I only use the gym. Have missed it greatly during lockdown. Now its back open, I can lose the Covid Kilos. Fully Covid compliant with all equipment to be sanitised before and after use. A little 1970ish, but staff friendly and helpful. Membership prices are reasonable.

Fantastic experience: My son has recently started swimming lessons with Joe on a Saturday, perfect number of children in the class, Joe is a fantastic teacher and so good with the children in his class. He makes it fun while teaching such an amazing life lesson. My son loves going to his lessons with Joe and looks forward to each class. His confidence is growing to and not afraid of the water thanks to Joe. I would recommend contacting Nicky for list of classes and times and book in with Joe.

Positive experience: The pool was nice warm. Aqua aerobics was the bomb

Fantastic experience: Great the lane swimming is back, the social distancing works. The staff at the desk where great while they tried to help me sort out payment which is online. The facilities are clean but it is an older building. One thing Trafford needs to bring back payment at each of the Liesure centres not everybody has access to online payment. Card payment would be fine. Apart from that it's great the Liesure centres are back.

Positive experience: A little bit run down alas, a very depressing brown/beige colour and there was some kind of air con or fan running in the sports hall near the badminton court which caused a bit of a draught which isn't ideal. Lots of potential but needs a bit of TLC in the sports hall. Can't comment on the other facilities but pool looked decent.

Fantastic experience: The children's swimming lessons at altrincham leisure centre are fantastic, I have 2 children in different levels, both my children have been going for 2 years, the swimming instructors are amazing with the children and have done a fantastic Job at teaching them and getting them through there swimming levels, the place is spotless and everything is sanitized after each lesson, it's very well managed through covid, and they are being very strict with it, lovely friendly staff, my children love it there Would highly recommend altrincham leisure centre .

Positive experience: Swimming lessons always fun for the kids

Fantastic experience: First time I've attended swimming lessons since the covid measures have been put in place and I was really impressed with how the staff are coping with the new rules. Everything was explained well and no problems getting children in and out of the pool making sure social distancing was always maintained.

Positive experience: They have done a great job with adhering to government guidelines, which makes you feel safe.

Fantastic experience: The safety level is excellent. Equipment is well spaced and plenty of clean down materials. Classes are well spaced and safe. I feel a good effort has been made to give customers a service I feel lucky to have use of the facility at such a difficult time.

Positive experience: What they do is is very good. But the council seriously needs to sort the building out and quickly. It is the most disgusting place I've ever set foot in swimming wise, the changing rooms are NEVER clean. My son has lessons here which are very good, but it makes me feel sick getting him dressed and undressed here, it's just so filthy .

Fantastic experience: This review is only for family swimming pool. It is great place to have your family specially small children there. Pool is clean and water temperature is not cold for children.

Negative experience: This centre is in a terrible state and greatly in need of a refurbishment. You will not find a clean chair to sit on. The changing rooms are run down. You will need an all terrain vehicle to get on the car park. I have never been to such a run down leisure centre. The council should really sort this out.

Negative experience: Awful to visit, changing rooms overcrowded for swimming lessons, whilst the miserable male cleaner is moaning everyone is in his way, female swimming instructor that shows favouritism.weekly. Stressful place to visit and brings a new meaning to the word ' Leisure Activity'

Fantastic experience: Why spend a fortune on an under utilised gym package when you can get all of your exercise at modest cost? If you fancy a game of badminton join the agile old gimmers on a Thursday morning - we play to a good standard and it only costs £2!!!

Negative experience: Bitter experience. Horrible cancellation policy. Deducted 3 months worth of my family membership after I formally filled up a form for cancelling membership.

Fantastic experience: It is a very well equipped place with competent instructors. We have tried swimming lessons and gymnastics and liked both. Helpful staff too.

Negative experience: £17.50 for 35 mins! Absolutely devastated with the swimming setup. I decided to come for a swim with the family (18/8/19), only to get kicked out after 35 mins of being in the pool. As a family it took us 10 mins to get into the pool as we all needed to get changed. If I had known there was a strict 50 min changeover (it wasn't even mentioned). I wouldn't have paid the £12 entrance + £5.50 on a swimming product. we were trying to teach my daughter how to swim, but how is 35 mins enough time for a swim let alone lessons? When I approached the 2 ladies on reception , they we all defensive and just kept quoting protocol. They were not interested or sympathetic what so ever. As I was discussing this with the staff another lady who had been for a swim felt the same way and expressed she felt let down too. I've been a regular squash player for years here and I feel truly let down by this community establishment. There are many pro's and cons with this place, however this single episode is enough for me to say I won't be visiting again. I hope they change their policy as this clearly isn't right.

Negative experience: Disgustingly dirty pool - sand all over the bottom; lots of broken tiles, filthy walls, grim changing rooms. Avoid - I certainly won’t be going back.

Positive experience: Value for money. £28 a month for swimming, TT, badminton, gym, squash, etc.. Worth for money. Could have given 5 with a badminton wooden court.

Positive experience: Staff/Reception pleasant, having been built 40/50-ish(?) years ago, it is very tired, changing rooms clean but in desperate need if updating. A good range of activities and sports on offer. The modern gym is well equipped but gets busy however membership is reasonable. 2 swimming pools - the main with lanes, school lessons & private lessons, can get very crowded; the 'small' pool is suitable for babies, young children and non-swimmers, this pool is very shallow. There used to be a great cafe selling basic food & drinks which was always a part of my sons' swimming lessons. There also was a good sized room for hire suitable for children's parties, adult celebrations, christenings etc. Not sure whether these have been reopened or repurposed. Part of the local community.

Fantastic experience: Friendly helpful staff doing their best with an ageing facility. Massively cheaper than private gyms especially for families. The gym and classes are really good. Use it or lose it. The more people use this facility the better the chance of getting a great replacement in a few years.

Positive experience: Has pretty good facilities other than gym. Gym lacks modern equipments. If you're looking for general fitness then this gym has a decent kit but not for advanced level

Positive experience: All round decent facilities. Aging and dilapidated look to the place - but it's functional, and the price is fair. If we lost leisure facilities like this around the country, it would be a real disappointment.

Positive experience: Not good for gym only. If you want to do gym and any other activity like swimming, badminton, table tennis, yoga, zumba, aerobics then it's a good deal. It has many activities, some of them has limited seats so you need to book it in advance

Fantastic experience: I love this place! I use to go as a kid and it's barely changed a bit. But sad they no longer use the shallow shallow baby bit anymore as my kid would love it. But they little pool is still good and warm and the big pool is well bigger than the small pool and less warm haha x

Positive experience: It's a big leisure centre with lots to offer. The baby group they hold each day is really popular so would advice to go early or you won't get in. There should be a limit on how many children people can take as it's not fair in those who can't get in when people take 4-7 children. It's £2.50 For 1 1/2 hours .

Positive experience: Enjoyed the swim, but the floor in the changing room was dirty afterwards and I nearly got scalded in the shower. The receptionist was lovely and very helpful.
