Negative experience: Lack of Hygiene Products in Gyms One of the fundamental expectations in any gym is access to basic hygiene products to clean equipment before and after use. Unfortunately, some gyms fail in this regard, leaving members without disinfectant sprays or wipes. This is not just a minor inconvenience—it’s a serious hygiene issue. Gym equipment is used by dozens, if not hundreds, of people daily, making it a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses. Without proper cleaning supplies, members are left with no choice but to use potentially unsanitary equipment, increasing the risk of infections and skin conditions. Moreover, in a post-pandemic world, hygiene awareness has never been higher. A gym that neglects to provide disinfectant wipes or sprays appears outdated and indifferent to members’ health and safety. It also suggests poor overall maintenance, raising concerns about cleanliness in other areas, such as changing rooms and showers. A responsible gym should prioritise its members’ well-being by ensuring that cleaning stations are stocked and easily accessible. If a gym cannot provide such a basic amenity, it may be worth reconsidering your membership and finding a facility that values hygiene as much as fitness.

Fantastic experience: I’ve now been to a few PureGyms around and this one has got to be the cleanest. Members are also polite and respectful. This one feels like ‘home’. Keep it up!

Fantastic experience: Super gym, plenty of machines as its quite a busy gym . Free parking in the massive car park. Was made to feel very welcome by Renee, clean and everyone friendly. Lots of different classes to suit different workout styles and across the day cater for everyone. Just wish I joined last year.

Negative experience: This gym would be top notch but it’s absolutely filthy. No cleaning stations to wipe equipment down after use and I never see staff cleaning the machines. Dirty tissues in cup holders make me feel sick. They only seem to care out increasing their new member count but they need to focus on cleaning the gym!!!

Negative experience: It's a nice gym. One star cuz the gym bros park their BMWs on the parent & child or even disabled spots and have the people that really need them either park on a regular narrow spot or park on the other side of the car park. And no, having tesco put a stupid warning sign is not the solution

Negative experience: Overall our experience at the PureGym Peterborough serpentine Branch has been a truly positive and rewarding one From the Zumba sessions with the lovely Russell to Yoga ,Spin not forgetting Pilates sessions Lift ! Sadly it has not been all positive following an extremely disheartening experience during a class/session witnessed very recently . We appreciate given the times we all have personal challenges and sometimes feel upset and or frustrated given the times but a Pure gym session is nowhere to let off steam . (okay maybe save when using the equipment :)) A session should feel safe inclusive and non judgemental !and that not just in words but indeed! Perhaps this particular instructor taking the class at the time might benefit from anger management sessions and practice ways to keep their voice more even toned when upset or frustrated and trying to communicate ? All in all it’s been a positive experience but this untoward behaviour should be addressed

Negative experience: Pros: good size gym with a good amount of equipment. Numerous squat racks which is really nice. Cons: The gym is often over capacity. The App does not tell us the true extent of how many people are there. I have spotted on two occasions groups of FOUR cramming through the gate using one code. Usually the younger groups. There seems to be no staff overseeing this. This makes it an awful experience due to overcrowding and trying to find equipment. I question whether this becomes an issue around health and safety. This is unfair on the paying customers that have their experience diminished from people who aren't even members. I have tried to approach staff with this but there is a significant lack of staffing around in peak times. I would NOT recommend this gym to anyone looking to join only because of this.

Fantastic experience: Just finushed combat with Andrew and libby great motivators, love this class high energy, always come away feeling great, burn hundreds of calories and do thousands of steps in an hour

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to Nathan’s strength class on a Saturday morning and I really enjoy it. There’s always a mix of exercises and it pushes you to lift more. I have several injuries that Nathan tailors things to help me adapt when I need to. Over the time I have been coming I have noticed improvement on my strength and fitness exercises i previously struggled to do are now getting easier.

Positive experience: Overall the classes are good for what you pay. A few instructors simply follow an app on their phone which isn't greatly motivational and can make the flow of the classes clunky, particularly with changing of weights etc by most are enjoyable and do the job well. There is a good variety too

Fantastic experience: PureGym at Serpentine Green is a fantastic place to work out! Modern equipment, clean facilities, and plenty of space. Friendly and helpful staff, plus the app makes it easy to check when it’s less crowded. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good gym in the area!

Positive experience: I tend to go super early in the morning so I am able to get a great workout in without crowds, but sometimes go in evenings. All in all, the gym isn’t bad and you can make it work. I’m about kids wanting a healthy lifestyle, but the amount that come here and linger around is quite annoying. They don’t do anything but hand around and take up space. I keep hand sanitizer in my bag and use grips, but there really needs to be cleaning stations in the gym. It’s insane honestly that there isn’t any. It’s also a little annoying that if you go very early morning, after scanning in the outside door (or pin) you have to awkwardly wait for the outside doors are closed before the inside ones will let you in. Would be nice to fix that. All in all, it’s a CONVENIENT gym because of the hours and you can get a good workout depending on the time of day you go. Cleanliness could definitely be better especially in the studio. So much dust and hair it grosses me out. They definitely need a cleaning staff. Maybe one that comes in late at night or early morning too when no one is really there.

Negative experience: Absolutely *ZERO* cleaning stations at this gym make for a disgusting experience sometimes. There's no paper towels or anti-bac spray. Music coming from classes exceedingly loud, overpowering even headphones. Zumba class instructor blasting the likes of "cotton eyed joe" and screaming "YEEEHAAAWW" every 2 seconds is enough to completely throw you off your form and focus. These issues are making me contemplate moving gyms.

Positive experience: Good equipment

Fantastic experience: Gym manager a really nice person and always willing to have a chat,as we all know mental health is as important at physical health. Some of the personal trainers need to realise that their not above anyone else in the gym. and occasionally interact with with people other than those they are training. I know the manager is trying so hard to control under age kids and tailgating kids. As the under age humans are rising quite high now making it hard to get on equipment. But overall great gym well worth a visit.

Negative experience: Poorgym ! Male changing room should be shut down ! Urinals out of service for months now, the hand dryer is frequently non-operational, with no alternative provided for hand hygiene, sink is filthy, cleaning equipment left unattended including chemicals.. I suppose they are trying to promote clean as you go policy ‍♂️ and I won’t comment on showers or toilet cleanliness. Furthermore, my attempts to communicate these issues through feedback have gone unanswered. This lack of responsiveness is disappointing and raises questions about the management’s commitment to addressing concerns.

Negative experience: Most things are out of order. Overpacked with not enough equipment for people to share. Out of order urinals and dryers in toilet for months. Was not even open on Christmas etc when all other pure gyms are. Ac is also never on its a gym for god sake Very dirty staff do not clean properly. To further add an update today, still dirty no AC and every greedy person hogging machines I tired to go on a machine 4 times todays Got so annoyed with people Keep hogging the machine every time I went to try use I had to leave

Positive experience: I would give this gym more stars for the range of equipment but unfortunately it falls very short on cleanliness. There is no dedicated cleaning staff, the toilets often need attention, stuff left lying around and the ladies changing room sink area has wreaked of sewage smell for months. No cleaning or sanitisation facility for equipment either. It’s also a vey cold gym. Staff are nice.

Negative experience: Tragic gym. Staff is non-existent, equipment/weights are all around the place and hard to find at times. Some of the machines are poorly maintained and dusty. Water machines often are out of order. For the last couple of weeks, main entrance is fully open at all times, even when temperatures are below 0, causing the wind to directly blow on people that are using threadmills. Changing rooms and showers are filthy, smells bad in there aswell. It is better to avoid this one overall and just go to the one in brotherhood retail park. P.S. if it would be possible to give a rating below 1 star, I would.

Negative experience: Impersonal. Was hoping there would be a counter or admin to ask questions, but all I got greeted with was with turnstiles and barcides on the wall.

Negative experience: >>>>>DEAR STAFF, CLEAN THE GYM<<<<<<< There is a hair clip cleaning brush and a used dental floss on the floor, they've been there for 2 weeks now.... They're in from of the stairs climbers and near the curl up machine. It's getting ridiculous now.

Negative experience: Had a friend add me as a buddy, turns out you can only accompany them at their "home" gym, you can't just pay for a day session though because you have an "active membership" - manager's response: "there's nothing I can do about it". Dreadful experience, but at least I didn't have to use a puregym...

Negative experience: Noise, hygiene issues. The layout is a labyrinth. And some of the equipment has been out of calibration for almost a year now. I sometimes visit this place and things aren't getting any better there.

Negative experience: No customer service. You can't cancel the membership. They will tell you to cancel the direct payment and then they will just add fees and send a different payment. I want to cancel as their machines are all in very poor condition. It should be called poorgym and not puregym

Positive experience: - Most of the time changing room / toilets too dirty. The reset is Ok

Positive experience: Good price, enough room, however not a lot of options and diversification with machines , only the basic ones for each group of muscles, that makes you waiting for your turn in pic time

Negative experience: The water machine wasn't working today. There was a sign to say contact a member or staff for a refill but there was no member of staff in sight for the hour I had my workout. Very poor from the gym, If they knew the machine wasn’t working why was no staff available or put in place to help members with their water needs. Spoke to a fellow gym member who suggested maybe this was done so members have to pay to use the vending machines. Gym is also regularly full with kids in groups of 4/5. No spray bottles or paper towels available to clean equipment either. Last thing I want to mention is the unusually high placement of the mirrors in the free weight section. This means you can not see yourself when you are training chest on a bench. I have been to other gyms where the mirrors are behind the weights and go all the way down to the floor, not sure why this gym didn’t adopt the same.

Negative experience: Looks good at first. Bit reality is it is over run with 14 to 16 year old taking up equipment and preventing real gym goers from training. No where near enough equipment. The app fails regularly and prevent you from entering. FALSE ECONOMY AND HOTSPOT FOR KIDS. JOKE!!!

Positive experience: Good gym but they need to wack the AC on for real

Negative experience: Crowded af, after 6 pm during week No hack squat and only 1 leg press with free weights to add, no seated calves machine, the calves machine in there is a joke. The windows are open so some people training in there can feel like they're a specie in a zoo

Negative experience: Joined the gym but had to go to the other peterborough location due to the lack of privacy here. I don't want people watching me while they nip into tesco to grab their bread and milk. Install some window vinyl or loose customers

Fantastic experience: Great facilities and always availability!

Positive experience: The gym itself is great, the PTs are friendly and helpful and people that go there are generally helpful too. Alot of people are put off by the open window and shoppers walking by but I use it as motivation. The only negative is there has been a few instances of younger people not using the gym for its purpose and more of a social place, I consider them "tik tok" gym goers that are there for the aesthetic and not to work out and they do crowd and make it difficult to get to where you need to go. I would recommend.

Negative experience: PLEASE put paper towels with cleaning spray throughout the gym and sign post that gym goes should wipe up after each use. This is standard in other gyms and without it is just simply dirty and unhygienic. Especially after staff go off and it remains open all through the night with no cleaning whatsoever... This should be considered the bare minimum... EDIT: my friend literally got a viral skin infection from the gym. This is exactly what I was saying.

Positive experience: It's decent gym for the money. Also I like the fact that it's open 24/7. My biggest problem is the glass which allows shoppers to look in. It makes you feel like some sort of animal at the zoo with people stopping and looking in. It should be frosted or mirrored in my opinion. Also they need a seated calf raise machine. Pretty standard bit of equipment which most gyms have.

Positive experience: Well.. not a bad place as and when it was right after opening. After not even a month, one of the toilets in men's room is OUT Of Order. Showers look like they haven't been cleaned since opening. Shame.

Fantastic experience: One of my favourite classes is the Zumba class with Russell. He is a breath of fresh air. He is so inclusive and welcoming. I look forward to it every Monday and Friday

Fantastic experience: Friendly, fun gym with plenty of equipment for everyone's training schedule, spin classes and a studio for other classes like pump etc and an area to stretch and do mat workouts. Changing rooms have showers lockers and are very clean and look great.

Positive experience: Good gym, loads of equipment, decent layout. Negatives: why children are allowed in?? Windows should be covered a bit with some foil etc to allow at least a bit of privacy for the gym members

Fantastic experience: Joined because as a woman you can't really go out for a run in the middle of the night safely. The app, the equipment, the space, the access, EVERYTHING has been way better than I expected. I'm so glad I signed up and would encourage anyone thinking about it to do it tbh. Set my goal on the app and even get suggested workouts! Very excited to achieve my fitness goals with puregym serpentine!

Negative experience: Very bad layout, you have to look for a weight plate for 2 minutes as they don't have enough of them. You need to hear in the speakers the trainer as they use microphone and you can't do your workout in peace. All shopers staring at you trough the glass. It is cold inside as the entrance is not divided by another room to the gym. No WiFi available. Small gym. -small changing rooms with a horrible smell that seems to come from the sewers Definitely I will not come here from the second month.
