Rayleigh Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: First time here for the basketball session. Plenty of parking, clean facility and overall accessible venue! Never even knew this place existed.
Positive experience: Pleasant staff, clean and lots of facilities.
Positive experience: Good leisure centre with friendly staff
Negative experience: Overcharged after i had cancelled my membership, 2 months on and still not received my refund. My emails are now being ignored and every time I phone, I get the same excuse every time, promised a call back which never comes. This is the second time in my membership that I have been charged twice.
Fantastic experience: Nice and calm place.
Negative experience: No crèche, no swimming pool and staff didn’t have any info on why either is listed
Fantastic experience: Good selection of weights, went today and the staff member was really polite and had a nice smile, one thing I will say is that people need to use lockers, I'd have a no bag on the gym floor policy, also would make more of the space on the gym floor. I live opposite the centre and If I didn't run a gym myself I would defo join.
Positive experience: Popped in for a snack and coffee, wasn’t even aware it existed. I have lived less than a couple of miles away for over 30 years, seems very community based could do with being promoted and advertised.
Negative experience: Fusion gym and Rayleigh leisure centre just goes from bad to worse. I went to cancel my membership due to being far too busy, never be able to get badminton courts or personal training sessions. Gym is always packed and struggle to get on certain equipment. So asked the desk if I can cancel my membership and they just said you have to go online. Me thinking it will be obvious but they couldn't make more it any more difficult. Couldn't find a cancel membership anywhere, even went into the search bar but still nothing. I cancelled my direct debit as I thought maybe that's the best way. Had a phonecall a couple weeks later saying I have to give one months notice to cancel and I still owe them this month's membership. Couldn't see anything on their website or app about this and even speaking to the member of staff when asking about cancelling also failed to mention that.
Positive experience: Pros: - The amount of machinery availalble is decent - The Gym looks modern and clean - Price for membership is fair and reasonable and gives access to Clements Hall - This gym does not have narcisstic females with tripods trying to attention seek Cons: - Alot of the younger adults treat the place like a social gathering. Hogging machines whilst chatting, even during peak times
Positive experience: Only 4 rinks. No club house General cafe do your own drinks
Negative experience: 2 months since my cycle class was cancelled by Rayleigh Leisure Centre and I still haven't received my refund
Positive experience: Good dance fit class. Cafe was cold.
Fantastic experience: First time there very friendly
Fantastic experience: Good gym, nice equipment and not too busy even in peak times. Decent hot showers too. Also have access to other gyms within their company that have pool, sauna, more classes ect
Negative experience: They have a lot of activities in door bowls, keep fit a cafe and lots more
Positive experience: Friendly gym with reasonable number of classes.
Positive experience: It's quite nice with the new gym which has new equipment. Can get a hit crowded during busy times so limited to what you can do. However there are showers and a cafe where you can have a coffee. Asda is round the corner so you can pop in for bits after.
Positive experience: Love the gym, could do with a few more machines like a little peckdeck & EZ BAR, but the most annoying thing is, is where it’s a small gym, they’re not limiting to members and it’s become so busy over the last few months. (There’s two exercise machines that could go that no one uses to replace for something a lot of people will use for chest days) I think a limit needs to be put on the place personally, just so it doesn’t become like every other gym where you can’t get on machines.
Negative experience: We are a small group of badminton players and hire a court on a Friday 7pm till 8pm. There are 4 courts in the hall, however two courts are hired out to a Kendo group and unfortunately this group causes badminton players a noise distraction at intermittent times. As the group scream, shout while bashing their sticks at each other. The noise is extremely loud and unbearable. Rayleigh Leisure should warn badminton players before allowing them to hire the remaining courts and compensate them accordingly, as this noise distraction does spoil our play.
Fantastic experience: There are plenty of options inside this fitness center. Gym, Basketball, Table Tennis, Badminton and many more.
Positive experience: Seems like a nice place. Staff are fully invested in their clients
Fantastic experience: Lovely gym, helpful staff and very clean
Positive experience: Not the best gym in the area, especially for the price but have been to worse
Fantastic experience: Amazing leisure centre with wonderful amenities for Rayleigh people
Fantastic experience: Amazing leisure centre local to Rayleigh people and a wide variety of amenities
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, very clean and staff are very friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Very clean and well maintained
Positive experience: Typical council owned leisure with indoor bowls club, fitness gym, ect.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, also happy not to have to pay for parking
Positive experience: Cannot get through via telephone ever.Having said that app works very well & very welcoming staff, when you see them!
Positive experience: They've just invested £300k in the gym, so the equipment is great. The staff are always frienfly and there's plenty on offer.
Fantastic experience: They just had a whole new gym installed here, they have spent over £300,000 in there and it shows. Top of the range lifefittness treadmills that connect to your phone. Great upgrade. Give them a call and you can get a free pass to try it out.
Fantastic experience: Great staff, fantastic facilities and very clean.
Positive experience: Great price but several pieces of equipment is out if order and been like that for months. Due to this, more waiting around on other people to finish their workout.
Negative experience: (Rayleigh Branch) Would have been ready to give a good rating until realised I had been scammed by the staff after signing up to a membership. Arrived for a pre paid class; whilst waiting a staff member was trying to get me to sign up to membership. I said no because I didn’t want to pay monthly costs to which she said the first month was only £1 and as long as I cancelled before the end of the month I wouldn’t be charged anything more. So signed up on that basis. Next day went to cancel and after I double checked to make sure I wouldn’t be charged the following month the receptionist said that I would be charged as had to give a full month’s notice. I tried to explain what I had been told but she just shrugged it off saying I would still be charged for another month. Total scammers. Be aware if you are ever approached with a to good to be true offer from this company! All is not as it seems.
Negative experience: The membership price and the standard of gym equipment is not matched fairly, in my opinion. I had a gym trial day here recently and all of the equipment is very worn and old. Most of the equipment was either broken or parts were missing so you couldn’t use it properly to it’s fullest potential. You can sign up to much cheaper gyms and the standards are a lot better. I found it a shame as this is my local gym but I’m finding I’m having to branch out further to Basildon area for a gym in order to gain good value for money.
Fantastic experience: B Good for lunch, friendly staff
Positive experience: Limited amount of equipment but well organised. Felt totally safe.
Negative experience: Told me I could cancel anytime before the end of the month. Cancelled 2 days before but they took my money anyway and are now ignoring my emails. Having to get my money back through the bank.
Positive experience: Great staff
Fantastic experience: This is a nice, quiet gym without the poser factor. Reasonably priced and lots of parking.
Positive experience: Take leisure seriously at the centre
Negative experience: Generally full of inconsistency From the staff, right through to the facilities. Would not recommend this centre
Positive experience: Clean well equipped facilities.
Positive experience: Keep playing tennis without a proper tennis net, and the keep promising to get it fixed... last time the tennis court had a tennis net haniging from two badminton net posts and held up in the middle with a piece of metal, so it was shaped like a UU a droop at each side and a rise in the middle.
Negative experience: Gym is way too small for amount of equipment it could really use a sepperate room for weights and one for cardio.
Positive experience: Staff are great here but completely let down by unfortunately a dysfunctional management organisation! It's a hotel California, you can join but difficult to leave! A company with promise of better communications to members but for now as useful as a chocolate teapot!! Shame really!
Fantastic experience: Fab gym
Positive experience: As a gym, it's fine. Lots of different machines and gym staff are happy to help advise on technique and routine. There are bowls and squash courts, plus a studio for classes. Class instructors are a mixed bag of enthusiastic and bored. Reception staff have been incredibly unhelpful to me, struggling to answer basic questions, know what courses are on or how the website works. Be warned the website is very confusing and bounces between two different systems. Decent if limited facilities, poor customer service.
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Positive experience: Wonderful local gym. Modern, bright and packed with facilities. Squash courts, badminton, basketball, studios, indoor bowls, gym facilities, cafe, outdoor football ... Staff are friendly and helpful. Membership fees are modest. The gym is a little on the small side which can feel cramped with the machines on top of each other but it does not tend to get too crowded too often. Free parking. Clean and spacious changing rooms with showers. There is no swimming pool but you can become a group member and gain access to the pool at nearby Rochford.
Fantastic experience: I enjoy going to the gym. Few machines to workout and they have classes, aerobics, yoga, tai chi, badminton. They also have a bowls room. There is a cafe, sometimes it's closed due to staff shortages.
Fantastic experience: Lovely big building and I had a fantastic time during my first kendo session. Thanks for hosting the club.
Negative experience: It's a big field with a shopping container as a toilet. Bizarre
Positive experience: Friendly and well equipped. Doesn't beg too busy
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities, friendly staff, and cheap to go to
Fantastic experience: Fairly small gym but local and has good parking.
Fantastic experience: Good leisure centre
