Everyone Active: Opinions
Positive experience: Thursday night Zumba. So much fun you forget you're exercising
Positive experience: **“The sports center itself is great, and most of the staff are fantastic! However, a few staff members in the gym could really benefit from customer service training. Professionalism matters, especially in a customer-focused environment. They should learn how to communicate effectively, approach paying customers with respect, and de-escalate situations rather than make them worse. I’ve personally had multiple negative experiences with one particular gym staff member. Whenever I addressed it with gym management, my concerns were dismissed and twisted to make it seem like I was the problem. This staff member has received several complaints, and I know of customers who have left the gym permanently because of them. It’s disappointing to see issues like this go unresolved.”**
Fantastic experience: Gym is great. Everything you need and never too busy. Calisthenics frame is a nice touch
Positive experience: Parking can be a nightmare especially at weekend and not many spaces and some people don't aways park in the right places
Negative experience: £7.30 for a single pay as you lane swimming. Absolutely extortionate.
Negative experience: Went to view for a membership, parking was awful, the receptionist was unbelievably rude and the membership lady was lazy, didn't seem bothered to show me round properly. Won't be joining!
Negative experience: General managers: PLEASE READ. Train your reception staff to be able to 1.speak to people 2. Carry out basic tasks This could be a great facility for the community if anyone customer facing knew how to work with and help the people wanting to utilise this sports centre
Negative experience: Overcrowded, Wattbikes in pieces, with parts hanging off(they were supposed to be replaced 2 years ago). Friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: We went to the lego exhibition really nice
Fantastic experience: Pools
Fantastic experience: 5 stars to Julie who does the aqua classes. Julie is amazing at what she does and generally cares for her clients who have bad backs and other issues. She also plays her own music which is brilliant music!! She is very popular and you can see the smiles on people’s faces during her classes. I always feel a spring in my step when I have done her class. She is one in a million. Thank you Julie.
Fantastic experience: Lovely leisure centre, good facilities, nice pool. Parking limited to 2 hours unless you scan the qr code in the centre. Plenty of spaces but was very busy parking wise when we were there
Fantastic experience: I go here regularly for badminton. Courts are good, rackets are (mostly) fine, shuttlecocks can be bad but I bring my own. Bookings, reschedules, checking in, all of that is really quick and straightforward, would highly recommend it
Negative experience: Thank you reception at Hemel Hempstead for cutting me off twice this evening after listening through the long rambling options ! Poor
Positive experience: The gym itself is of a good standard with Technogym and life fitness machines. Broken ones get fixed quickly. The swimming pool is a let down you can see the grime on the tiles. Changing rooms are not the cleanest and some of the showers have temp issues which I have logged with maintenance many times. Classes get busy and limited spaces on a normal membership. No spa or sauna at Hemel. Customer team are good and helpful and do their best to solve any issues, although the app handles the majority of these. You will pay a higher price for the first month and the day you sign up, but this does cover you for your month when and if you cancel. There has now been a new cleaning team added so maybe the above will change in time.
Positive experience: I found staff here very rude unhelpful and clueless in different parts now there moving.
Fantastic experience: The main pool is quieter now that the outside pool is open. The general hygiene has significantly improved and the showers are warm! Pool staff are always very friendly and helpful. The only improvement would be the closer monitoring of what constitutes "a fast" lane swimmer.
Negative experience: Poorly run Everyone Active, staff are rude/clueless at the front desk, the gym needs some attention, the indoors pool could do with a good clean, the changing room could do with a deep clean (have you not heard of bleach or a steamer) How can the management team walk around and think it's a good standard. It's time to review the management: out with the current team and in with a new team that actually care.
Fantastic experience: Always a good place to visit and enjoy the sporting life !
Positive experience: Good local leisure centre with decent size swimming pools that also provide family sessions.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service, oppressive booking system, no care for customers over a ridiculous amount of swimming lessons, I'm cancelling my membership
Negative experience: "Question for the Management Team: Are you happy to see someone in danger or breaking instructions?” I had such a bad experience at Everyone Active Leisure Harpenden Centre. I attended the last swimming session at 20:00 on Tuesday evening with my two young daughters, who are beginner swimmers. During this session, the pool was not busy, with only two other people in the slow lane. My daughters stayed in the shallow end of the pool, where they felt comfortable and safe, and did not disrupt any other swimmers. The lifeguard and manager, Adrian, were very rude and insisted my girls swim from the shallow end to the deep end in a circular pattern. I explained that my girls can't swim in the deep end, but Adrian still demanded we follow the instructions or leave the pool. It felt more like a military camp than a leisure centre. While I understand the importance of following pool rules, there should be some flexibility, especially when the pool is not crowded, and safety is not compromised. My daughters were merely practicing in a safe corner and posed no inconvenience to others. Adrian’s lack of empathy and rigid enforcement of rules ruined our experience and left my daughters feeling unwelcome and upset. They have expressed that they do not want to return to the centre because of this encounter. ^^^ NOT recommend.
Positive experience: Surely there's something provided for most sports ✔️
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff, especially Amber.
Fantastic experience: Amazing classes, everyone can find something for themselves!
Positive experience: Good gym, nice swimming pool and outside pool. Not too busy. Day passes aren’t too pricey. Toilets are gross, whole centre isnt overly clean. Staff are lovely and helpful
Negative experience: I go here twice a week, once with my baby and once for just myself. The pools themselves are clean, but you can tell they are starting to age, it's still good for what it is though. The children's pool is only a bit warmer than the main pool which I found disappointing, it's taken a while for my baby to get used to the water. The showers are freezing!! (And no, I'm not being dramatic here) This needs fixing asap! It's lost a star for me based on the temperature of the showers and the children's pool. The toilets could be better too, I noticed last week there was no soap in the changing room toilets. Something I'd to see would be more public swimming sessions outside of work hours (after 6pm would be ideal, as I'd like to swim during the week rather than the weekend)
Fantastic experience: Staff are all nice and friendly and whoever is in charge of the music does an amazing job. Easy listening dnb which is perfect for working out, never bring my earphones anymore. Negatives would be the entry system to the gym is the worst entry system to anywhere I’ve ever come across. Didn’t work for me for my first 3 months and constantly see people stuck at the gate with no one on the desk to let them in. Other negatives would be people parking in non existent spaces in the car park and too many children but overall it’s a great gym
Negative experience: Between the hours of 3.45 till 6 Monday to Friday the gym is a youth club, staff let them run wild. Sitting down on the machine just playing games on their phones. I even seen them using the Exercise Balls as space hoppers and staff just laughing Sort it out Everyone Active
Negative experience: My kids have swimming lesson here. Staff is really nice and helpful, teachers are amazing too however I am deeply disappointed with the care of the place always dirty everywhere , cold showers or very hot sometimes. No soap and taps working properly in the toilets no toilet paper i mean £43 a lesson per child if I could afford would definitely go somewhere else unfortunately. Very disappointed
Negative experience: Warning.. please think twice about signing up with this gym or swimming. They rely on an app for any cancellations etc. I cancelled my membership on the app and deleted the app as I left.Knowing I hadn't entered the building. The manager is useless and responding took weeks to reply and basically told me tough! Admin is very poor customer service. Avoid this sport center changing rooms are filthy and dirty...Lockers take 20p and swallow it. You'd think with the money you could clean once in a while. I do have a Learning Disability and Autism and management did not care one bit or helped me with my needs...... but I say the Gym Instructors staff are more helpful and kind then the membership team or Reception staff.....
Fantastic experience: Super slimming lessons ❤️
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Negative experience: Warning.. please think twice about signing up with this gym. They rely on an app for any cancellations etc. I cancelled my membership on the app and deleted the app as I left. They continued taking money out my account for 6 months!!! Knowing I hadn't entered the building. I had no proof as I deleted the app, and they refuse to give me my money back. The manager is useless and responding and took weeks to reply and basically told me tough!
Fantastic experience: Swimming instructor very nice and polite
Positive experience: Ok
Positive experience: all good
Negative experience: Only good thing is location Admin is very poor I would remove the one star if I could as manager demonstrated little client caring skill to me
Fantastic experience: Lovely place
Positive experience: The name is slightly misleading. When I walked in there were a lot of bored looking people staring at phones. Upon further investigation it transpires these were parents of children involved in one of the many activities on offer. I think it must be good because everyone I saw leaving looked close to crying.....
Negative experience: asked within 24 hours of signing up to change from premium to normal membership £50 to £35 which was ignored asked again a few weeks later which they agreed then took another £100 out of my bank and now wont offer any sort of refund or let me cancel my membership. Scammers do not sign up for this company
Fantastic experience: As an overweight, unfit, 50 year old, menopausal women I feel very comfortable. Becoming slimmer and fitter
Fantastic experience: That's where I burn my calories and do my stretching... Love this place. Just avoid the parents' rush hour collecting their kids if you want to park your car...
Negative experience: Not nice now! They doesn't let children's play before or after the lessons!! Children are heart breaking when the lifeguard told them to leave the pool. No fun anymore for the children! I wish there are some other centers around here.
Fantastic experience: Superb facility. Well run. Excellent life guards in the pool. Great coffee shop.
Positive experience: Since I moved to the area I’ve been to almost all the gyms here and it’s one of the best options. Good stuff, clean space, good amount of machines, fair price.
Positive experience: Classes seem oversized and cleaning of changing rooms needs improvement We have moved to a new class, and for this class at least the class size is great. As for the changing rooms, no improvement, need better cleaning and locks on the changing room did have been broken for weeks. . ,........ Update Jan 2024, they have now solved a number of their issues, changing room locks now working, hair dryers replaced.
Fantastic experience: Great place to go, clean and very friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: I would like to say how well the lifeguards reacted to my work colleague falling ill. They responded so quickly and efficiently. They were very professional and made everyone feel at ease with their brilliant first aid knowledge.
Positive experience: Great pilates lesson, instructor very patient and adjusts class to different levels of ability, try and go every week
Fantastic experience: Great to see soo many younger people starting early for their fitness
Positive experience: Ok when court is set up , frustrating when it’s not!!
Positive experience: Nightmare to find parking, especially when I have a child with SEND. Not enough children's spaces.
Positive experience: The overall facilities of the gym are good. Staff are friendly and polite however the male changing rooms lacks attention and cleanliness. Shower are mouldy and dirty. Bins rarely gets changed and cleaned, floor always dirty.
Positive experience: I am only leaving this as part of Comic con which was being held here, fab experience helpful staff and friendly venue my only reason for four stars is a feel parking was busy
Fantastic experience: That's my gym, nice and clean and not too busy at the times I am usually going. UPDATE : They have just changed the equipment and the new equipment is really nice! Time for a workout!
Fantastic experience: Great. Apart from shower rooms not being cleaned well.
Negative experience: Great classes but the changing rooms are filthy! Actual blood on the walls?! Lockers take 20p and swallow it. You'd think with the money you could clean once in a while. And whoever is leaving the changing rooms in this state, grow up
Positive experience: Needs an update, but otherwise fine.
Positive experience: Price hikes, no nets setup for pre-booked badminton court, what're we paying for?
Negative experience: Final straw. This place closes way too early. Today I was told it was due to close - it was 20.30 on a Friday. It supposed to be open until 21.00 which is still early. £50 a month and they close even earlier at the weekend.
Positive experience: Had a great swim here. Bought back memories of when it first opened as Dacorum Sports Centre in the 1970s. But it has changed a lot since then, and is well presented. The changing rooms still smell though!
Positive experience: The pool is clean, but it is showing its age. The changing rooms need some serious attention to. The staff are friendly and very helpful, the swimming lessons are good but can be problematic sometimes.
Negative experience: Everyone inactive, well the staff on the front desk, the pool cleaners and plumbers in charge of hot showers.
Positive experience: Clean, seemed to be well run.
