Fantastic experience: Great gym! The staff are always friendly and helpful. I don't do the glasses but they are always varied and very popular and the PT's make them fun. Plenty of equipment available and if you don't want to use the free weights there are plenty of excellent machines. The Manager is also very enthusiastic and works hard to keep the place running well!

Negative experience: No hot water in a shower. Horrible Experience
Hi Tomasz, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. Our showers are now set at a temperature of 36C and have a flow rate of 5 litres per minute. These parameters are regularly monitored and we also have regular checks carried out on boilers and associated equipment to ensure the units are operating as they should be across all of our gyms. On occasion, we can get faults on our water system which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate, and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner. If you believe there may be an issue, please speak to a member of the gym team who will be able to assist further. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Negative experience: There is always a bad smell in the changing room, because of dirty toilets which is very close to lockers..

Negative experience: Today I’m being on Gym, I realised the car park now changed, not yellow coin, but by my surprise don’t have any indications on gym and still there a banner mentioned yellow coins and nobody from gym there to inform , so a lose more than half hours going to sunsbury , of course they don’t have nothing to do with gym after looking for security on shopping center ,but he don’t known how to solve problem and after few stressful moments take risk and try to get out from car park and speaking with assistance on press button I sorted out , seems no dignity and respect from the pure gym for the members (Im member for more than 4 years without interruption) I will give up for that reason from this gym

Fantastic experience: Tuesday morning sweat45 classes with Anais are truly the best! She runs the class so smoothly and motivates us all to work at our full potential. Each week she brings in new challenges. She uses a range of different exercises and is happy to alter or modify for injury. Tuesday mornings are the best part of my weekly workouts!

Fantastic experience: It’s been more than a month in this gym as I moved into the town recently. It’s great gym with welcoming staff and brand new devices. Members are polite and helpful. Highly recommended. Manager Mazrek brings huge positive energy for sure.

Fantastic experience: I've been to most of the local gyms and if your looking to be able to train outside normal hours this is the best by far. Always clean, always good kit and just getting an upgrade too. Best in the area for most gym goers!

The busyness of the gym does fluctuate throughout the day, or depending on the day of the week and you can check how busy the gym is before attending on your PureGym app. Thanks, PureGym
Fantastic experience: nice little gym. some of the adjustable benches are a little unstable. but apart from that I really enjoy it.
Negative experience: Most expensive Pure Gym Membership. Very small for the volume of members. Should consider expanding. Very crowded.
Negative experience: Firstly this is not to fault the staff and trainers. They are great and the few classes I do attend they are friendly, inviting and I always leave feeling I have had a good workout. Overall it is a very clean and tidy gym. Unfortunately where my problem lies is with the facilities. I travel up and down the UK for work so I have a plus membership that allows me to go to multiple gyms in the country which is a great option Pure Gym provide and makes the cost worth it. I am disappointed with that a lot of the time the water is turned off or there is no hot water due to problems, it does seem to be weekly problem. Another disappointing factor is the variety of classes. For example; I am away for work currently and I have the option of Cycle, Pilates, LBT, Yoga and many more. At the gym in Walton-On-Thames, there is no cycle studio which I find disappointing, wherever I travel those classes are great and always full. The variety just isn't there. I enjoy a mixture of types of workouts and I do not think that is necessarily offered there. Not because of the staff (they are great), it's because of the facilities.
Positive experience: It's fine and cheap. Going after work is pointless as So many people in a small gym. Early morning is better.

Fantastic experience: All the staff are so kind and friendly! Absolutely love the classes :) Paul is brill and really focuses on form and technique which I think is great! :D love Anise's music choices for the classes also and always enjoy them with her!
Negative experience: The cost doesn’t align well with what you receive. The gym’s limited space makes peak times inconvenient, leading to extended waits for machines. The refurbishment appears subpar, with unappealing chipboard. Hoping a nearby competitor’s gym opens up soon.
Fantastic experience: I just get music going in my head phones and away I go, Great it's open 24/7 as I worked nights so it does not bother me going late at night.
Fantastic experience: The classes and app are great! Very friendly atmosphere and it’s never overly busy (apart from Monday).
Negative experience: Contracted a virus in my hand from one of the machines. Disgusting gym saw a rat there yesturday, all the machines are broken would not recommend to any beginners

Fantastic experience: I visited the gym recently. The new manager, Jo, is brilliant. She is always around in the gym and on hand if you’ve got a question. She’s friendly, approachable and always getting stuck in where she can. She is an asset to Walton.

Fantastic experience: I just had a problem trying to get a padlock that fits the lockers. They don't sell them on site. I found one Everlast that fit. The music in the gym is way too, unnecessarily, loud. And isn't good. I have to put my own music on so loud to drown it out that it hurts my ears. The problem with the hot water in the showers late seems to have been resolved and I'm happy to say is extra hot. Lovely. Thank you. Back to 5 stars.
Fantastic experience: Pretty good for a gym. Nice selection of equipment, people are friendly and share equipment.
Positive experience: Very hot, no calf machine? Very small.... about the size of a sainsburys local. No free parking. £33 a month plus parking...... around £53 a month. Or David Lloyd for £70 a month! Easy choice.
Negative experience: Never been there. It's next door to a supermarket.

Fantastic experience: Great place to chill out and get a stress relief amazing place to workout and even better its 24 hour.
Positive experience: I enjoy the gym, the layout is good and there is plenty of equipment to choose from. But the aircon is non-existent it’s like working out at the beach and the is only 1 drinking point to refill from sometimes which you have to queue. This is not the gyms fault but there is no gym etiquette, the amount of times someone has come up to me mid-set to ask how long I’m going to be or if they can jump in between my sets. ( I’ve never had this before PureGym) Equipment hogging as well in front of management, 3-4 guys standing around one machine talking and playing on their phones it’s becoming a joke. The changing room is always clean but I don’t use it no more, like the other reviews it’s full of topless boys taking pictures of each other. It’s a really uncomfortable experience so I avoid. I think management maybe should clamp down on what is a few group of 3-4 lads ruining a lot of other peoples experience. Oh and also stop people taking their shoes off to train in their socks and stinking the place up!
Negative experience: Pros. Good selection of equipment. Spacious stretching area. Cons. Rampant steroid use. Black mould in showers. "Influencers" film themselves across the gym with no regard for other people privacy. Conclusion. Not newbie friendly. Good value for money for high street location. Avoid at peak times and do not shower on site.
Fantastic experience: I honestly don't understand all the nagging and whining in the reviews section, grown up men complaining about not having soap in the bathroom..pathetic. Came here after 6 months at The Gym Group Sunbury followed by a short spell at Everyone Fitness. This one is slightly pricier than the others (£8-9) but provides some extra value. There is never broken kit laying around for ages, waiting to be repaired. The kit doesn't look like it belongs in Jane Fonda's old garage, quite decent and various machines and a reasonable amount of free weights. As long as you don't train chest on Monday, back on Tuesday and legs of Wednesday you'll be fine and won't have to wait long for others. The layout is quite smart and ergonomic despite the relatively small size of the venue. There's plenty of cardio machines if you're into that. Staff are very friendly and helpful and respond to requests timely. The atmosphere in the gym is quite intense and lively. The downsides are the lack of free parking (but it's available for £0.80-1.50 in the shopping center. The "no grunts" sign on the wall could be irritating if you take your training seriously and might give some Planet Fitness vibes but if you don't bother reading it at all you'll be just fine. Also, the gym tends to get quite hot and the locker rooms very cold-some adjustment of that would be great( or at least open some windows in the gym!)
Negative experience: 1. It's tiny 2. The aircon is severely lacklustre rendering this already overcrowded space an intolerable sweatbox 3. The ceiling leaks 4. Hand washing facilities in the men's toilets haven't been functional over my past several visits. There is no liquid soap and the hand dryer is not working. I use alcohol gel as a backup but I have yet to see anyone else do this. I suspect this is in breach of health and safety regulations. So much for being a "safe space" that we hear about every 10 minutes on the tannoy. 5. Gym etiquette or rather lack thereof is the worst I have ever witnessed. Continual hogging of equipment whilst gimpscrolling tiktok seems to the norm for a disappointing number of these gym "users". 6. The staff are generally pleasant though, they deserve better as do the patrons
Negative experience: 2024 update... no change and obnoxious music from instructors. Gym is as you expect but music makes it unbearable to work out here. If you like headaches and tinnitus this might be the gym for you Update: Moving to 1 star as it's getting worse! Especially when classes are on blasting music while the regular gym music is going

Positive experience: I’ve been a member of PureGym several times and I’d several different towns/cities, and it astonishes me how much the price and differ, when you are pretty much getting the same thing. I’m now a member of PureGym Walton-on-Thames and the gym is nice, not as big as other PureGym but it’s got everything you need. The only disappointment was that the male changing room was tiny!

Negative experience: Ridiculous gym. Overpriced given the small space and limited machines available. Paid less for premium membership at TheGym and got more than i do at this puregym. The only scale available you have to pay for and paying for premium membership without even access to a body comp machine or scale is just pathetic. All they must have done with the upgrade is put some led lights in their studio which doesn’t even have floor reaching mirrors. Disappointed

Negative experience: Never any staff and constant issues with the main door entry and the buddy system. Won’t let my partner in despite the fact that I pay to have her as buddy. Also water machine is always broken. Generally poor compared to other PureGym sites I have visited.

Positive experience: Quite small and for the price compared to other puregyms you would expect some better looking equipment. Different size and stye benches makes it look like the equipment is secondhand from other gyms. No free parking . Apart from that it is clean and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: The gym has improved a lot. They need to get a calf machine urgently. Thats the only excercise machine they do not have.
Positive experience: I think it's a very decent gym, but some reorganising would make it more spacious, especially by the free weights

Positive experience: Good gym, good staff, clean But seriously only one set of 5kg plates..... GET MORE 5KG PLATES! It's always awkward if you have them too, everyone keeps eyeing you like you stole them If I didn't have to wait for smaller weights for my chicken arms then would be 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Great local gym with helpful and knowledgeable staff. Just completed a burnit class by Chris Jeffries who kept us motivated through out and adjusted the exercises to match our ability. Highly recommend if you want a gym reasonably priced

Fantastic experience: Good gym in a great location - staff all very friendly. However could be improved by having a few more 5kg and 10kg plates in the weights room as they can be hard to come by. Other than that, all good.

Negative experience: I been going to this gym since 2019 was absolutely fine then. But now at evening there is no Wifi connection or any music on radio. I don’t know what is going on ?

Fantastic experience: Amazing place puts you in a great mood
Negative experience: Limited equipment, for me that’s a big part of what you pay for in a gym so it’s a bit disappointing to have such a small weights section & only 1 proper squat rack. Considering the lack of equipment this is much more expensive than a PureGym in more popular locations so I would say really not worth the money.
Fantastic experience: Great gym with good equipment and nice staff. It'll be even better when classes are allowed to start up again.
Fantastic experience: I visited the gym yesterday just to have a look around and I had a very warm welcome from the manager Darren who was happy to show me around, answered all my questions and more. It was about 3pm andonly about 20 odd people in the gym. It's a roomy layout, well set up for not a huge space, didn't feel cramped at all, it looked very clean with social distancing set up around the machines and cleaning sprays readily available. I thought Darren was excellent, very positive and friendly and not salesy at all. I have now joined the gym online and downloaded their app which I think is excellent and a really nice addition giving a lot of extra value for your money. I can definitely see me doing some of the routines which seem really easy to follow. Love that it's 24 hr access too and lots of machines, airy space, can't wait to get in there and get stuck into training again. Thank you! :)
Fantastic experience: The PureGym is always amazing! The gym is really clean and now with all this situation (covid) PureGym has found the way to keep everyone save, has a lot of clean station, hands sanitaser, and only one person per machine. Everyone is conscious about clean the machines before and after use it.
Negative experience: The Walton on Thames puregym it is the worst ever gym what I was in my life !!! Very dirty, in middle of the pandemic!! The changing room is like a freezer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very, very cold. No heating at all !! The warm water is working 0.3 second, you cannot wash your hands properly, whit out constantly pushing the tap. The manegment wasn't be helpfull,they are very rude. If you have a car go to different puregym!!! Or different gym.

Staff do regular cleaning checks in the gym and we have dedicated cleaning teams who come each night to carry out and comply with internal and external audits. Of course, during peak times it can be difficult for us to compete all cleaning routines, however as soon as it is possible our staff will complete all procedures and checks. If you have concerns with the cleanliness in your gym we can check the cleaning rotas and ensure all procedures are being followed. Please speak to your Gym Manger for more information on your experiences. Temperature/Air con in our gyms is automatically regulated by smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff can report this to the external company to be looked into by engineers should it be required. Positive experience: Good gym clean and generally not to busy so I am able to get my workout done without delay. I never go weekdays between 5pm and 8pm.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgraceful customer service. I had a full months membership taken out during lockdown when the gym was closed and then I received email to let me know it would be credited. However, I received a week or two credit and then was denied access, instead saying I owe £22. Its about time you treat your customers with respect Puregym as they are your business but don't worry you will be losing yet another customer in me as I will be getting home equipment, bravo!

Negative experience: I waited for 25 minutes at the door for any staff member to show me round before I joined. I rang the bell and called the 369 assistance number. Not a single sole came to my need. Shocking! You lost membership.

We advise a weekday between 9am - 5pm as this is when most staff are around but even then they can be busy with clients or taking classes. We have online tours and day passes that can be purchased and we do operate differently to other branches by not having receptions. Fantastic experience: Epic Staff
Negative experience: This gym is ok, not great. Machines are old fashioned models. Lack of cleanliness towards them from everyone after used. There is no antibacterial sprays or wipes and the signs do not obligate members to wipe their sweat after use. Some members are quite arrogants and quite annoying. Staff are a bit grumpy and seemed to ignore eye contact with everyone to avoid a simple greeting "hello"... But, in walton and surrounds there are not much choice, and even this is not exactly the cheapest one, is better than nothing. It could be better though. There are no free parking around it either.

Staff do undertake regular cleaning checks and we have dedicated cleaning teams come each night to carry out and comply with internal and external audits. But we can of course check the cleaning rotas so if you let the Gym Manager know when you’ve visited they can properly investigate. It is in the rules that members should bring their own towels as a courtesy to other members. We made a conscious decision as a company to not provide wipes so we could reduce waste from all our gyms. If there any instances of members or staff being rude to you, we would need to investigate further. I would advise approaching the Gym Manager or Member Services so we may look into this further. Fantastic experience: Everything are clean, the PT staff are very friendly and helpful
Negative experience: NOTE: Original post was OVER 2 years ago.... The Walton on Thames pure gym is in serious need of an upgrade. This was mentioned at the beginning on the year that a renovation would happen but still nothing yet. Weight section is too small, too few key equipment and too many people for a small gym. The cycle studio needs to be enclosed. All this gym has going for it is the location and some of staff are pretty cool.

Negative experience: If you only want CV and a couple of machines then this gym may work for you, but if you want free weights and heavy machines I suggest looking for a real gym. First time in a pure gym and will be the last.

Negative experience: I have been to around 50 gyms all over the world and congratulations Walton on Thames you have acheived the award for the least friendly staff in all the world. Ways you might improve: 1) Make it a rule to say good morning, good afternoon, good evening to every customer who enters the gym. Not occasionally look up and grunt, snort or attempt to avert your eyes at the earliest opportunity. I appreciate you may find this difficult to begin with but it will soon catch on. Fake it to make it guys. 2) While you may think you own the gym actually you don`t and you are in fact dependent on the customers for your livelihood. That includes all the customers not just the ones you fancy or pay you directly so please be repectful and I know it`s crazy but how about starting a conversation with one or two of us. Soon you`ll realize we can be quite nice and actually we are not so far beneath you, some of us might even be your equals. Sarcasm aside: We all feel a little nervous in such surroundings but really the onus is on you to make people feel a little more comfortable in what is essentially your environment. It`s easy if you know how; smile, say hello, and ask people what training they are doing today - break the ice, you can do it if you really try. 3) I know this is a big one and I wouldn`t expect anyone in the south of England to lower themselves to such menial work but in all of the humble but better gyms I have been to around the world the staff/PTs respect the equipment and the environment they work in and I sorry to have to break this to you but that means actually cleaning up and yes even after other people. Bad news for you guys is that the customers in the Walton (England as a whole) are equally lazy about putting equipment away when they`ve finished and this means extra work for you. But once again I think if you start to pick up the customer`s weights and put them back as well as making sure all the dumbells etc are in their correct order, customers will actually see a sense of pride you are taking in your work and start to help out a bit by putting things back themselves eventually you will in fact have less work to do. Show some humility to your customers, be friendly, and take pride in all areas of what you do and who knows what extra business might just come your way. All this aside: the facilities are more than adequate considering the price.

Negative experience: Previously a really good gym but with the mix of youngsters sharing pin numbers, incompetent PTs and car park changes, it's now very poor. Recently cancelled my membership here. Also other Pure gyms are much better value for money, Epsom is half the price. I was asked to review this gym recently by PureGym but apparently this review goes against their guidelines despite other similar reviews saying the same as I've put.

Please be aware we have a CCTV team that monitors all PIN entry. If a member is found to be using someones else PIN, or entering together, they will be blocked. There is a process which after warnings can result in the cancellation of a membership. In regards to the review, our online website reviews are monitored by an external company. They check all reviews and reject/ accept reviews for multiple different reasons. If they are accepted we have access to them at which point we are able to response. Negative experience: Your PTs are literally terrible, so rude. Expect nothing from them. We were just doing our own thing in the gym and were approached several times by them, making comments (clearly displeased by the fact we were doing our own thing and weren't requiring their PT services). Felt so unwelcome at this gym. Please sack them and get new staff who at least know something about customer service!!!!
