Our comment from FitFit UK about North Herts Leisure Centre:

North Herts Leisure Centre, located in Letchworth Garden City, offers a variety of facilities for families and individuals looking to enjoy a day of fun and fitness. The leisure pool is a highlight, featuring both a wave machine and a thrilling slide, perfect for children and adults alike. Visitors have consistently praised the pool's temperature and the attentive lifeguards who are dedicated to customer safety.

Many families appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, particularly during peak times when they strive to accommodate everyone. With a great atmosphere and a range of activities, this centre is ideal for swimming lessons, family swims, and more.

However, there are several areas needing improvement. Despite the positives, many users have reported cleanliness issues in the changing rooms, with frequent complaints about dirty floors and showers. The introduction of time slots for swimming sessions has also disappointed regular visitors, who feel that the limits on swim time have detracted from their overall experience. Parking is often described as a nightmare, especially during weekends, and some have noted the lack of a straightforward booking system, leading to frustration.

Pros:

  • Fun and engaging leisure pool with waves and slides.
  • Friendly and attentive staff.
  • Great for families and children.

Cons:

  • Cleanliness issues in changing rooms.
  • Limitation on swimming times due to new management policies.
  • Poor parking situation during peak times.
  • Complicated booking procedures and long wait times.

North Herts Leisure Centre: Opinions

Negative experience: Didn't realise there was a new system that meant only an hour for a swim, I was so disappointed! An hour just isn't enough! Plus it means there are more people coming and going which makes the small changing rooms almost impossible. Parking is a nightmare as well. You could end up losing the already small slot trying to park your car.

Negative experience: Turned up for a swim with my family after being on the website and viewing the time table to suit us, however we wasn't allowed in because we didn't book ? And was told they have been this way for about a year, me and my family have been in the past few months and was never told we need to book also not at any point on the website or posters at the at the pool does it say you can't just turn up you have to book jist bombarded with how to get a membership and spend money, was told every pool run by the company is the same but this is not the case as we went to stevenage and got straight in ! Was a little expensive for the small hour sold you are allowed, very disappointed

Positive experience: Ok, but run down/grubby but good swimming pools with slide & baby pool

Rebecca Flaherty 8 months ago

Negative experience: While the pool is ok, and life guards are attentive and seem to care about customers( hence 2 stars). The public changing rooms are disgusting. There is dirt all over the floor. There bits of broken metal and broken plastic. My child stood on some plastic and cut her toe, it was only minor (antiseptic wipe and a plaster) but when you are asking people to go barefoot it needs to be clean and free of debris. Complained at reception, to be told its cleaned overnight and before opening bit they'll get someone to clean it. A lifeguard ended up running the rubber squeegee round the floor. But the cleaner wasn't in there until we were leaving an hour later. And they were just pushing the dirty mop round the floor, not even rinsing it in between, and they did the bathroom floor first before the changing area . I had put my towel on the floor to clean my feet/stand on to keep feet dry, after picking it up floor looked a bit cleaner, couldn't see any debris on the floor(towel straight in the wash when got home) cleaner came through to clean with mop, and there were black bits (lint, fluff, God knows what) left behind. The cleaner was telling people off for either wearing or putting outdoor shoes on the floor, fair play. But (and a big but) they were wearing outdoor shoes themselves, in the form of boots. They didn't even have any plastic booties/overshoes on. So just came across as a hypocrite. The only saving grace was the lifeguards/poolside staff, one overheard me talking about the state of the changing rooms to someone I was with and they instantly engaged and got a colleague to go and check it out. On top of this parking is an absolute nightmare, people were double parking and causing obstructions. And the football wasn't even on. They've spent millions on a makeover for the gym, but can't keep the public changing rooms sufficiently clean. Also the ceiling above the pool looks grim with multiple loose tiles/ squares. Surprised some haven't come down yet. The new stuff in the toddler pool looks good though.

Negative experience: Emailed multiple times regarding membership with no response

Negative experience: Changing rooms are dirty most of the time, many gym lockers not working, gym toilets absolutely stink, can’t get parked when football or rugby on, then they reduce hours at weekends so can’t go in evenings. It’s not like it’s cheap, yet after complaining many times to staff nothing changes. Disappointing.

Negative experience: Changing rooms dirty, they keep reducing swimming times, staff rude. Under new management. Not impressed.

Fantastic experience: I popped in for a free pass day. I used the sauna, steam rooms and swimming pool. I may also try Pickleball when I join. Great experience!

Positive experience: My kids come here for their swimming lessons and we also enjoy the family swim. Staff are helpful and friendly and changing room is clean.

Fantastic experience: I just had a drink here whilst I waited for family to finish swimming.

Kelly Galvin 10 months ago

Positive experience: Had a fantastic swim session here with the children - great for all ages - clean and plenty of space to swim not too many people all at once.

Dave Carruth 10 months ago

Positive experience: The pool is clean and well staffed but having to take your socks and shoes off prior to entering the changing rooms means that you end up with dirty/muddy feet in the corridor. Some mats would be useful.

Fantastic experience: Review for food. DELICIOUS Bacon sandwich. Every bit including bread very tasty and great service! Thank you

Joanna Skrzypinska 11 months ago

Negative experience: The changing rooms are always filthy, showers full of hair and floor never cleaned. Unfortunately poor management made this place very unattractive hence cancelling my membership.

Robert Bennett 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool for families, the sloped beach style pool is brilliant for little ones.

Marian Turner 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Really lovely sports centre. Excellent leisure pool with intermittent waves and large slide. Baby pool with slide and spray. Plus a learner pool. Lovely changing room. Cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks. Numerous other activities judo badminton etc. There is also a soft play area which my grandchildren love.

Positive experience: Visited to swim with my 3yr old. Pool is great, son had a blast. The facilities are starting to look tired and in need of some maintenance. Changing rooms were fine, not great. No warm /hot water in the showers

Negative experience: This was my best place to go with kids, but since new company take over they have started band system, only can stay 1 hour 15 minutes. And its expensive then previous. So no m not going again

charlotte burgon 1 year ago

Negative experience: Unfortunately I have decided to terminate my gym & swim membership here after receiving an email that my monthly payment will be going up to £42.99 a month! The members changing facilities are rarely cleaned and you can spot the rubbish that is left in the same spot multiple days in a row. Not once have I seen a member of staff cleaning in there. The showers are never cleaned and if you go later in the day there is so much hair in the shower cubicles. The air conditioning may as well not be there as it is never on and is always boiling in there. I don’t see why there should be a price increase if the service doesn’t change or improve. The corridor from the sauna to the pool is basically a slip & slide and never have I seen someone cleaning there and you’d be lucky to see a wet floor sign. Paying a membership for staff to not do their job is why I’m cancelling my membership.

Annette Catling 1 year ago

Positive experience: I use to be a member however since the new owners took over I found the water to cold. Though I have been back to check out the booking system for swimming in half term. I absolutely love it, just like the old days. We managed to have a great time with family which was free slide included. For family fun I think is this the best as they also do waves. Not one child was unhappy.

james warner 1 year ago

Negative experience: My son attends a swimming lesson and I used to swim for the 30 mins. Couple of weeks ago after I paid £750 for a 30 mins swim and I was told by a receptionist full of cold/flu I can't go through the gate until 8.15 as my son's lesson not till 8.30 I explained I have paid to swim but not let through gate till I again challenged the receptionist. The place is filthy the showers run hot and cold all of them. Pictures taken 830 on a Sunday so a sports center should be fresh and clean then as far as I'm concerned never been near closing time but can only imagine how it looks then. I won't be using the pool while my son learns to swim again. You would think a large company like everybody active would care but the reply I received after I sent an internal complaint to the manager proves we are just money tickets not looked at as individual members. Shocked

jenny field 1 year ago

Negative experience: The cage has gone hugely downhill. Over £17.00 for three chips and drinks. The chips were at least a third of the size they used to be and you are limited to two sachets if ketchup with the chips or had to pay more. Very disappointed. I don't mind paying but like to feel I have some value for money which I totally do not feel and will not be eating here any more. Shame because it used to be part of our visit that the children looked forward to.

Will Moran 1 year ago

Negative experience: Always dirty because staff dont care. I go late at night and its always young teenagers who do the "cleaning" by chucking buckets of water on the floor even though they have outdoor shoes on and screaming and joking around. Showers never work and just an overall low standard at the centre.

Daniel Davies 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Swimming with the family. Had a great time. Pool is a perfect temp, waves, slide and kids pool. Everything you need for a fun swimming day.

Danny Milroy 1 year ago

Positive experience: Had a nice time at the pool itself needs a new Internal roof so don't look up when swimming . The water slides and wave machine are only part time , so check in advance- what's that all about , lack of staffing ? car park was free

Negative experience: As a father of a little girl it was very disconcerting to be in an open male changing room with grown men walking around in front of children absolutely naked. I can't believe in this day and age grown men still think it's acceptable to behave in this way. On top of that there are only 2 cubicles to change in and 1 doesn't have a door. I put my daughter in the closed cubicle to be confronted by a 10 year old boy with no parents who despite my efforts to calm him, insisted on kicking the door and shouting at my daughter to get out because he wanted the changing room. He then kicked me and tried to climb under the gap in-between the cubicles whilst my daughter was changing. I finally managed to get him to leave her to change in peace, only for him to fly at her from across the changing room after she left the cubicle stating "now I will punch her in the face!" At that point I had to raise my voice and tell this boy to get his parents immediately (which never happened) there were 10-15 other witnesses in the changing room at the time including 2 members of staff which I spoke to, after explaining the situation one of your employees told me that they had no idea the door was missing from the cubicle and this was the first they had heard of it. (how a door vanishes from a changing room without anyone knowing about it is beyond me) I write all that to say that I think the standards of your facilities are far below par and you need to take serious action to prevent any such issues in the future. For my 8 y/o daughter to be subjected to nudity and violence in your centre is completely unacceptable.

Krisztina Nyilas-Cseh 1 year ago

Negative experience: Swimming pool is good, good the deep water area and have waves hourly. Good swimming area for little ones. Nice dayout. But last time the water was too chlorinated. That’s why i give only 2*. I haven't gone into the water yet, but the chlorine in the air is already stinging my eyes. the following hours after the swimming, both of my husband's eyes were inflamed from the chlorine and our swimsuits were white, I don't think such an amount of chlorine is healthy. The changing cabins and toilet need more cleaning during the day it was hairy and rubbish was inside.

Negative experience: Access to the gym for disabled customers is difficult. No prior warning from staff about the lift being out of service, and when asked, staff don’t know when it will be repaired…

Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic time. Played "Pickleball" and loved it. Will go again. Also went swimming. Very clean. Met lovely staff on reception.

Fantastic experience: Not too busy for a Sunday, though it wasn't as hot out like it has been all week. Lots of space for the 3 boys to play, and Mum's could still see them while taking a few laps. The wave machine was ok. It would have been good if it lasted longer. The boys enjoyed the slide as well. Plenty to keep them entertained for the hour.

Michael Barnett 1 year ago

Negative experience: Used to love swimming here with my daughter but the timed slots introduced by the new management have ruined it. It's nowhere near long enough and I expect a lot of families will decide it's no longer worth going. The old scheme was a bit chaotic, but I'd rather wait in the cafe for half an hour with a band and then spend as long as we like in the pool.

Mark Cooper 1 year ago

Positive experience: Given how children orientated the pool is, they could really do with some family-changing rooms

Octavio Viñoly 1 year ago

Negative experience: Their website says it is open at 7 am on Saturday, but when I arrived at 7:05 am the reception was empty. I went through and found a member of the staff who informed me that the reception is empty until 7:45 and the gym will open at 8 am! So frustrating!!

Daisy Wiseman 1 year ago

Positive experience: Very nice swimming pool but saw a plaster in the pool and and in changing room lots of hair on the floor only one slide and now have to book and only get an hour. In march when I went to this swimming pool it was at max people in the pool and we were eating in the cafe for about 2 hours or so just to get in the pool and lots of people. When this problem happened, a man was giving wrist bands with a number on and was calling about 3 numbers every half an hour and we where number 26.It’s a shame it is a nice pool but as I said there is like hair and bits under the seats in the centre and once when my daughter was drowning in the deep end and there was literally a lifeguard above her and they done nothing!! A lot of the lifeguards look like teens and when I called this pool today a lot of times they didn’t pickup when there are about 2 people sitting in reception and all the sessions online where full so I wanted to ask if we could get a space for 5 as we booked oasis but there was a problem in the pool and they cancelled all there sessions for the day and went to multiple pools but this pool didn’t pickup fix it.

andie herron 1 year ago

Positive experience: i’m not impressed with this place because me and my family had to spend a lot of money to pay for our petrol and as we were driving towards the swimming centre we got a phone call and got told our session is cancelled, my gorgeous royal children were so sad and cried and i had to buy them a big fat mcdonald’s order to calm them down!! We thought of letchworth swimming centre as a backup place to go, UNTILL we went to book a session and unpleasantly saw that all the spaces were booked out!! i was fuming so i decided to ring but no you did not answer. I thought nothing of it and rang again but again no answer, i was so outraged i called multiple times and you never answered!! maybe you guys need to get some hearing aids and listen to the phone calls instead of chatting !! i will be barging in next time i come to complain…

Negative experience: Good I would give it 4 stars except the slide The first person on the slide said okay go through and beloved me when I had not got the band. Hover the other called me you are lying no no. I was super angry phisicly pushed him out of the way. When I reached the bottom lifeguard blew the whistle and got very aggressive. I am 12 I have autism and hdhd and find this hard 1 star

Jonathan Cushing 1 year ago

Negative experience: This pool has gone downhill since the change of management Loved taking the children down to Letchworth for this pool as it’s a lot more fun for the kids and it was never timed hourly sessions like our local one. Prices have increased, and buying entry is a drawn out ordeal, for some reason they want to register you onto their system. Needless to say there was only one person on the reception, and a massive queue. Swimming is now in timed sessions, of only 1hr 15 mins, which wasn't the case before despite the receptionist claiming it was. Once in the pool over 1/2 of it was roped off for swimming classes severely limiting use. Will be going elsewhere in future

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would! See my comment on their Facebook page today following swimming lesson today with my grandson: North Herts Leusurr Centre. The areas around the pools, particularly around the edges of the teaching pool, are filthy! My daughter and I have been attending swimming lessons for my 2 and a half year old grandson for the last 2 years and complained about it to a duty manager 2 weeks ago. We did not attend last week. However today (8th May) the surrounding areas of pools, particularly the teaching pool, have filth that clearly has been there for many, many days. Clean your act up, or it will next be featuring in The Comet! We have never seen this issue until Everyone Active took over!"

Oksana Sologub 1 year ago

Negative experience: I left one start review mainly because: 1. Unwelcoming and rude staff. There was a young lifeguard girl, in her 20s, light hair who told me that I am not allowed to take pictures in the swimming pool which is fine, however when I approached her again to clarify this point (as I could not see any specific signages around the swimming pool area, or maybe I was blind?) she then looked around herself to check for them but could not point to any specific one, she then said that her words should be enough for me to understand that I can't take pictures). Seriously? How on earth this is a professional communication and customer service? In no way you can speak to customers like that. So I have told her that she is being extremely rude and that she should think how she speaks being on duty. I told her I don't understand what she is doing in this job with this kind of attitude and then she looked at me with that kind of nasty face expression saying "whaaaaat?"!. I then met her in the reception area again, where I explained to her how her words made me feel and then her in response being polite and calm next to her management when talking however she did not say sorry or anything like that at all. Disappointing. 2. The changing rooms and toilets in there are dirty. People wear shoes and don't mind.

lloyd raywood 1 year ago

Negative experience: Loved this pool before the take over, they have absolutely ruined it. We always took the time to drive to letchworth for this pool as it’s a lot more fun for the kids and it was never timed hourly sessions like our local one. Looked to book today and what a palaver it is now. They’ve removed the family deals from the pricing and now it’s no longer a free swim for however long you want and is only 1 hour and 15 min time slots. Booking isn’t straight forward and now involves having to download a crappy app to do it which still isn’t the most straight forward app and doesn’t make much sense in what you’re booking. Tried to call to speak to a actual member of staff to make sense of what i needed to book but no one ever seems to answer the phone. It’s such a shame the new company couldn’t keep it as it was and a open swim for as long as you wanted, don’t think I will be bothering and maybe have to look for a new fun pool as pushing nearly £40 (family of 6) for just over a hours swim isn’t really worth it.

Jonathan James 1 year ago

Negative experience: Absolute shambles. Childs first swimming lesson was an absolute shambles. They have no idea when someone is new. All email instructions aren’t correct. Phone number to complain goes to a phone that isn’t monitored. Refunds are “impossible” and so the only way to get money back is a card chargeback. Angriest I’ve ever been having my child ignored panicking in a pool, and then left sobbing on the side.

Sheila Wearmouth 1 year ago

Negative experience: If I could award no stars I would. Since the change of management the place has gone to pot. Chairs removed round the pool so there is nowhere to sit during swimming lessons, only the floor, which is no good if one is elderly. Playpens removed so that toddlers are in danger of drowning while their mothers deal with their other child(ren). Everything that has the old logo binned and gone to landfill. Long queues to get in for lessons as the old entrance cards don’t work so you have to re register as a member, and download an app. It took my daughter 20 minutes of my grandson’s lesson to do that. All progress in lessons has been lost so swimming instructors have to test everything again and fill in the information using the company’s new points system. It’s dire! Whoever gave the contract to this useless lot?

Michail Kalogeropoulos 1 year ago

Positive experience: Been using the gym for more than 6 years now. I like this place but the new management has changed the opening time from 6 to 6:30 am. This makes it impossible for me to exercise before commuting to work and will have to look for another gym. Such a shame :-(

Paige Pratley 1 year ago

Negative experience: This morning I was pretty much drowning in the pool(it was kinda my fault because I went out of my depth)but I trying to scream and everything but all the lifeguard done was give me a dirty look.Luckily there was a very sweet boy there who which helped me to safety!

Fantastic experience: We visited this swimming pool in April 2024. Very nice pool with a wave pool and a slide. It’s got a nice little pool for the kids. The staff were friendly. But the changing facilities we didn’t like how you had to get changed with other people in one big room. Hasn’t changed much since we last went here in September 2018. But we had lots of fun here. Very clean in the changing rooms and the showers were lovely and warm too. This place is one of the best swimming pools we know. We would definitely come back here again.

Negative experience: Absolute farce. Yet again they have no space even though the pool is virtually empty. Try spending some money and hiring some compitent staff.

Renato Kuurstra 1 year ago

Negative experience: The gym is horrible. All machines are low quality and rundown. Everything is dirty, the changerooms are the worst as they have no air recycle, becoming super hot, smelly and shared with the pool(wet). Everybody slam cable weights so hard your ears will ring.. On easter Friday I checked the website, the app and it was saying it was business at usual. So I wake up, prepare went threre....and it was closed. I asked reception to close my gym membership, they can't you are supposed to get an app, create an account then you can close the membership. It just feel an unnecessary, stupid extra step. If you are looking for a gym, keep looking.

Fantastic experience: Just for swimming.. For the price, the time and the size of the pools, worth visiting. Nice cafe attached for a quick snack before you go to.

F A 1 year ago

Negative experience: A simple booking system would sort the issue of having hundreds of people crammed in a cafe (that’s after a 20 minute wait outside first!) waiting their turn to take their kids swimming. Half terms, holidays and weekends are atrocious and I can’t believe they’ve not once thought to do a booking system to prevent this. The gentleman in front of us said he had been there over two hours and the woman behind said they had tried the day before and couldn’t get in. We just went home. Shame.

Brad Evan-hart 1 year ago

Negative experience: So having qued for over an hour the staff were handing out numbered tags but all varying numbers they weren’t issued in numerical order just each person or persons were handed a random number token and written down on a clipboard. My son was desperate to swim and was patient for the hour only for me to click the woman with the clipboard was calling forward those with tokens number for example 10-25 which hold on if I have been waiting over an hour with 41 and your allowing someone who’s just arrived and been issued a token with 22 on it how is that fair Nobody wanted to listen to my point as I clearly highlighted an embarrassing issue two groups of people who had only arrived minutes before were being allowed entry and those waiting for over an hour made to wait.. The system you had in place this morning doesn’t work. It’s unfair and isn’t co-ordinated correctly. Absolute shambles of a poorly managed pool Sort out the waiting system because the one you operate isn’t right and isn’t fair on young children who are excited to go swimming

Ceri Miller 1 year ago

Negative experience: Changing rooms always so dirty I clean the floor of the changing rooms rather than paddle through it. The cafe shuts at 5pm just as kids lessons start and you might want a nice coffee.

Victoria Davies 1 year ago

Positive experience: Lovely pool and loads of activities for families. However, on weekends be prepared to wait upwards of 30 minutes for a swim, and avoid driving there if you can. There is a lot of dangerous parking and driving, especially on a Sunday morning and they could really do with some of the staff to be out in the car park ensuring that doesn't happen. The leisure centre would also do well to reintroduce booking for weekend swims; it is no fun sitting for 35 mins with a grumpy child or two. EDIT: I understand a new company are taking over North Herts soon. They'd do well to look at the reviews here, lots of them saying the same things. Customer service and experience could be hugely improved.

Negative experience: There was a 45+ queue to enter the pool. A booking system should be implemented to not waste people's time who have travelled to get there. No apology. Poor management.

Fantastic experience: Fortunately my local pool was full today, so I tried this one for the first time, and I m glad I did. The swimming pool is great. Love the beach layout and the pool waves. There's also a waterside . 30 minutes away is not a problem, I will be back.

Katerina Jenkins 1 year ago

Positive experience: Parking on a weekend is appalling, spaces taken over by those using the sports grounds next door; people parking on the drop off/pick up areas and on the grass. People go in the swimming pool changing rooms with outdoor shoes causing mud. Management is not doing anything about neither issue. Swimming teachers appear good and pools are nice.

Negative experience: Visited the pool today for the third time with my husband and four-month-old daughter. We enjoyed it as always however upon getting out of the water we found someone thought it would have been funny to steal the towel we had left by the poolside chairs for our baby (definitely not taken by mistake, as there wasn’t any similar ones and our locker key which we had wrapped in it had been left in the same spot. Plus, apparently nobody left the towel in the changing rooms or reported it to reception). Not the staffs fault and to be fair they were helpful about it, but definitely put me off visiting again.

David C 1 year ago

Negative experience: Possibly the only swimming pool in the world where you can’t book swimming. So the pool opens at 11am but if you get there at 11 there’s a queue of people (about 20 minutes long). And then it’s one in one out so God knows how long. So if you want to be guaranteed you have to get there at about 10:40. But they won’t take your payment either so you literally have to just stand there until it’s EXACTLY 11. Changing rooms are dirty and lack privacy. It’s a shame it’s my local one as I don’t really have much choice

Mandy Booth 2 years ago

Positive experience: Very busy centre, great to see it being well used, very difficult in finding a parking space. A very well laid out cafe, it's a shame the drinks server showed no interest in making the hot drinks in a timely fashion. Slow is an understatement.

Negative experience: Could be really nice if their changing rooms were cleaned regularly, and the pool was warm (am finding lots council pools Sat they are 29 degrees but are actually much lower as energy costs are high and they are saving money) not great whe you have a little one whose freezing! very dirty changing mats and floors. Shame could be busier.

Fantastic experience: Nice fun pool/beach pool with one small flume and a wave machine. Took my 11yo daughter and 12yo friend and the loved it. Point to note, there is an additional fee of £3.20pp (as at 23rd July 2023)for the flume.

Positive experience: Only use it for the swimming pool during family fun. There's one small one for children, one large one with a water slide ( pay separately for it) and one long one (10 metres approx) for lane swimming. Well maintained, clean environment, changing rooms can be busy but we'll equipped.

Fantastic experience: Attended a birthday party over the weekend and all I can say is wow! The staff were amazing, really welcoming and friendly, especially nicky/vicky (sorry can't remember name)! It was well run and they couldn't have been more helpful

Negative experience: Pool was full when arrived. Told to go away and came back and there's a big queue of people who are all getting tickets for spaces next to swim. Thanks a lot for letting us know about the tickets guys.

Negative experience: Horrible, the soft play included a ball pit , and my baby brother wanted to play ( ps he is 4 ) mind you that i was the one watching him at the time because my parents didn’t want to come in , as soon as i entered i was immediately kicked out. So was my brother, the worker who kicked us out was so horrible the my brother that he started crying , the worker pushed him aside and muttered a sentence, something get out of here , she was harsh to children and our parents are really disappointed, however when we were talking to her she denied it and told us to continue our play time , she gave me the dirtiest look and mouth some words i will not put on this review.

Positive experience: Well equipped venue with nice gym staff and personal trainers. A few of the negative aspects are that you need to sign into almost every cardio machine in the gym. Which massively slows things down or causes delays. They also have a ridiculous system where if you cancel a class within 2 hours of the class starting you get a strike. If you get 3 strikes you are then fined £4. This would make sense for booked out classes but even if the class has 15 places still available, if you have an issue come up last minute you are you still given a strike/fined. Otherwise it's a good place if you want to get a lot for your money's worth.

Positive experience: Went on a Sunday, the pool was absolutely packed, didn't stay long so felt it was a waste of money

Negative experience: Wanted to take the kids but I have a girl and 10 year old boy and would have had to send the boy into the male changing room on his own as they don’t have family changing facilities. So it’s off to Hitchin instead!

Positive experience: Great staff. Unfortunately the pool isn't open for public meaning you get a small space to swim nearly everyday is a swim club. the part that could be better is opening the deep end so swimming can be done more. Could do with better cleaning in the membership showers and spa part.

Negative experience: More of a review for the staff in the restaurant. I Finished Swimming with my daughter and we decided to get something from the restaurant (chips&latte) the staff operating the coffee machine didn't seem to know what they were doing. Two customers were served there drinks before ours, and had to be reminded that we had ordered first. When asked about the chips we had ordered they had forgotten... so asked us to wait another 20 mins on top of what we had been waiting! It seems like organised confusion with lack of training, I asked for the money back and left.

Fantastic experience: Came into the pool with my 2 boys Sunday gone and we had a great time, the wave machine is awsome as well as the slide! The pool has a fun tropical vibe with a gradual decline into the water much like a beach. There was a bright blonde haired girl on reception with a bright welcome and infectious smile, great with my boys who were unsure about the slide but she quickly changed their minds and after their first try there was no stopping them. The changing room (as im sure are hard to keep on top of with the dripping wet public) were okay. I did have to report a nappy that some gross urchintn had left on the floor but again the girl on reception quickly had it sorted. I would rate the place 8 out 10. A fun cheap afternoon out with the children, especially when taking advantage of the family ticket granting you one free child! I think we are quick to complain so wanted to leave this review for some positive feed back. We will be back!

Judith Pooni 2 years ago

Negative experience: Utterly incompetant at pool parties. They double booked an entire community FOUR TIMES....each time assuring that it wont happen again. Written assurances from upper management that there will be no issues mean NOTHING...they wont even stick to their word and prioritised those they had double booked us with instead of us who were booked first. They have treated our community disgustingly. Complaint sent to council and leisure councillor AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Negative experience: I used to like coming here with my son but unfortunately due to poor management our home ed party got cancelled YET AGAIN for the 4th time hours before the party. Absolutely appalling. No care for the childrens feelings at all or the stress this has caused the organiser of the party. I do not recommend anyone booking a party here!

Kolours of Beauty 2 years ago

Negative experience: Super bad management. A private pool party was arranged and then cancelled and rescheduled. Me and my children arrived on the new date and time just to find out they double booked and another party is in progress. Children are disappointed - its disgraceful and all you hear is “I can only apologise “ REALLY ? That’s all ? Shameful

Positive experience: The change rooms are dirty, it’s stunk of urine upon entry. The wave machine is supposed to stay on for 30mins each hour but that doesn’t happen due to lack of staffing. In the 2 hours visit, I saw 5 mins of waves. The slide was good but would have been nicer if the place was bigger enough for 2 pools and the slide would join one of the pools. Overall, the kids enjoyed and want to return.

Positive experience: Always enjoy coming here swimming with the family but unfortunately it's very dated now and the men's changing rooms need cubicles the open planned changing room is very dated lockers also broken and don't work.

John Steele 2 years ago

Positive experience: This is a wonderful swimming pool, bright and safe with so much to do with children of all ages and plenty of room to swim BUT the changing rooms are abysmal! You are asked to take your shoes off but many don’t. Why? Because the wet floors are already filthy with mud and hairs from people putting on their shoes when they leave. Why are there no places to store your shoes? There are very few changing cubicles. This is more in line with a changing room in a gym rather than a pool. My advice is to always bring flip flops and keep them on until you get to the pool.

Jupiter Hadley 2 years ago

Positive experience: Lovely swimming pool but often they just don't do the wave bit, which is the reason we come. There is always a long wait to get in as well, with no pre-booking system, and it's a like "when people leave you can come in" system instead. The baby's area is great and so is the water slide. Staff aren't very helpful when you ask if there are waves.
