Negative experience: My girlfriend and I visited this spa in Sutton Coldfield for a massage, facial, and some relaxation in the spa facilities. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. Upon arrival, we were left standing awkwardly at reception for some time while two staff members carried on a conversation, seemingly oblivious to our presence. This felt rude and unwelcoming. I had to prompt them to let us through the electric doors and ask where the spa was, or we might have been late for our treatment. The layout of the facility was also inconvenient. The massage and treatment rooms were upstairs, separate from the main spa facilities, which were located down a carpeted corridor. This meant you couldn’t seamlessly transition between treatments and relaxation areas in your robe without feeling out of place. Most spas offer a relaxation area with refreshments, but this was not the case here. It felt more like a leisure center with a massage room tacked on rather than a cohesive spa experience. The receptionist’s attitude further compounded the poor first impression. He was curt and unhelpful, especially when we asked about renting robes and flip-flops. It wasn’t until the end of our awkward exchange that he even bothered to ask if we’d been there before, which could have saved us some confusion earlier. We chose to visit on a Sunday, expecting a quieter atmosphere, but the pool area was chaotic. It was packed with children, and there was nowhere to sit or relax comfortably. The chairs were cheap and uninviting, the sauna and steam rooms were overcrowded, and one of the jacuzzis was out of order. The noise level was overwhelming, with echoes and screaming making it impossible to relax. We found it awkward to even hold a conversation without raising our voices and were frequently splashed by swimmers that weren't swimming even swimming in the lanes to mitigate this, no staff was enforcing this, it was abit chaotic. We decided to leave early as the environment was far from relaxing. On returning the spa bags, robes, and wristbands, I had to ask about the £10 deposit, which wasn’t refunded immediately but instead promised to be returned within five working days. This wasn’t explained beforehand, nor was I informed when handing the items back. I also had to request a receipt as proof of return, which the receptionist provided reluctantly and without clarity. His dismissive manner left a poor impression. The treatment itself was a mixed bag. I booked a Swedish massage and mini facial for both of us. However, despite disclosing my nut allergy on the pre-treatment form, I was told on arrival that the facial products contained nut-based ingredients and I couldn’t proceed with the treatment I had paid for. Instead, I was forced to choose an alternative, which was frustrating. If I had known this in advance, I wouldn’t have booked the Although, the massage itself was brilliant and the staff inside the massage facilities were polite and professional. Ultimately, this facility is better described as a leisure center with an overpriced massage parlor upstairs, rather than a true spa. While the massage was decent, the overall experience was disorganized, unwelcoming, and far from relaxing. I wouldn’t recommend it and certainly won’t be returning.

Fantastic experience: Perfect
Thankyou for your great feedback. Kind regards Cat Athersmith General Manager
Positive experience: Staff were lovely and really helpful, facilities were clean and I liked the fact all wet facilities were in the same area. Only negative is one hot tub was out of order and they’re not big, threes a crowd type thing if you don’t know the other people in it and one sauna and one steam wasn’t fully heated until around 11. Also could hear the gym classes while getting my spa treatment, didn’t really bother me too much but any longer than 25 minutes and I’d probably get headache, but I suppose this can’t be helped.
Good afternoon, Thankyou for your recent feedback. We appreciate all feedback to help us improve our services. I apologise that the jacuzzi was out of order at the time of your visit this is now fixed, The sauna and steam i would need to investigate further for you. If you wish to contact me via email i can look into this for you. [email protected] Kind regards Cat Athersmith General Manager
Negative experience: Pretty crap gym for the prices inadequate space, poor range of equipment. Changing rooms from the last century that stink of urine and air con is always on full blast even when zero degrees outside. One positive is classes and staff.
Good Afternoon, Thankyou for your feedback, we appreciate all feedback in order to improve our services to our members. If you wish to contact me directly my email address is [email protected] and I can discuss this further with you. Kind Regards Cat Athersmith General Manager
Positive experience: Attended for a 'spa-day' with a friend. The spa treatment was exceptional, cannot fault the massage & the Elemis staff were extremely professional. However it was highly difficult to truly relax with the sound of the gym classes & music going on. This was very off-putting. The facilities for a 'spa-day' were very basic. It was also very noisy in the pool area due to an aqua aerobics class going on which made it difficult to relax in the jacuzzi/sauna. It was also extremely busy which added to the difficulty in relaxing as you would expect to be able to do during a spa day. The relaxation room wasn't very relaxing either due to the temperature in the room (cold!) & the noise that can be heard from outside. The loungers weren't the most comfortable & no options for a blanket or pillow. There was some water in the relaxation room but nowhere to get a hot drink as the hot drink machine in reception was out of order. Having to pay £20 (part deposit) to hire a towel, robe & flip flops is extortionate. The towel was far too small, myself & my friend are average size & we struggled to get the towel to cover the essentials so imagine this would be even more difficult for someone larger. Luckily the spa-day was a gift as I would have been extremely disappointed if this was something I'd have paid for with my own money. This really shouldn't be sold as a place to visit for a spa-day, not relaxing or accommodating enough for spa users at all. The only highlight of the spa-day was the treatment but as mentioned that was hindered due to the overwhelming noise of the gym studios. Overall disappointing day. The 3 stars are purely for the massage/treatment.
Hello Julia, we are sorry that your experience did not match your expectations at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Sutton Coldfield, should you wish to discuss in further detail please email [email protected]. We appreciate your honest review. We set a high standard for ourselves, so we are disappointed to hear that your experience with us was not a positive one. All feedback, whether it be positive or negative allows us to improve as a business, thank you. Katie Maund Senior Spa Therapist Bannatyne Sutton Coldfield
Fantastic experience: I used the spa only. I had an amazing hot stone massage from Shereen who really made me feel relaxed and absolutely serene. One of the best massages I've ever had! Usually massage therapists don't get the pressure that I want right, but Shereen did a fantastic job! She set up the room with a high attention to detail. With small things like how she arranged the towels that surround the face section of the massage table perfectly. Thank you!
Good afternoon, Thank you so much for the positive feedback! We will be sure to pass this onto the therapist and hope to see you again soon. Regards Abi Turner General Manager
Negative experience: Very rude front desk manager
Good afternoon, I'm sorry to hear you've had a bad experience at the club. If you wish to contact me directly on [email protected] ill be happy to investigate the incident. Regards Abi Turner General Manager
Positive experience: Nice spa area, but the hot tubs are personal size making for awkward encounters with others. Two saunas and two steam rooms, although one of each seems always out of order. Full length indoor pool. Small gym space with an awful number of cardio equipment. There is only one squat rack/power station, and that doesn't help people who want to perform squats and deadlifts and other such exercises. It's just a very tight space for this many machines and weightlifting equipment. Nice staff and good-sized social area. I've been to other Bannatynes such as the Shirley one, and it's more spacious although nowhere as spacious as, for example, the Birmingham David Lloyds, and that's not the best of david Lloyds (for about £30-40 more a month). The membership seems very uneven with a disproportionate number of Asians, but this is likely a Birmingham issue not specific to Bannatyne as such. Free guest passes only for new members first month, and not renewed monthly like it is at david lloyd. Overall a nice leisure club but not a top tier or 5 star one anyway.
Good afternoon, Thank you for your feedback, if there is anything you would like to discuss with us directly please do get in touch. Regards Abi Turner General Manager
Fantastic experience: Very clean gym and nice environment.
Good evening, Thank you for the fantastic feedback! Regards Abi Turner General Manager
Fantastic experience: Had the most relaxing spa date. Sherryn and Charmaine were amazing to us... They gave the best massage ever!!!! They were kind, professional and excellent.
Good morning Victoria, Thank you for the positive feedback! We hope to see you again soon. Regards Abi Turner General Manager
Fantastic experience: Lovely ladys great gym and kind place
Good afternoon, Thank you for the positive feedback! Regards Abi Turner General Manager
Negative experience: Been here with my partner for spa treatments which was booked through a gift card online. On arrival the lady on front desk was arrogant when I politely asked where it was that we needed to put the car reg into, as we have never been here before. We then gave details of booking and she said we was 20mins late but the booking time I had wasn't the same but I said no problem we shall lose that off one of our treatments. We was told where to go for treatments, the lady who done our treatments was lovely not sure of her name but was friendly. Once finished we went back down to front desk to ask where to go for swimming facilities once again the lady on front desk huffing and puffing told us where to go but once we got changed and to put stuff into lockers we noticed that we it wasn't keys or a pound coin It was something else which we needed to go back to reception for as wasn't made aware. For people who haven't attended before she wasn't any help and very rude. Wouldn't go back again due to this first impressions.
Good morning, Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback, its a vital part of improving our service. I can only apologize if our front of house team left a less than ideal impression, and will address this with the team member on duty to prevent it occurring again. Regards Abi Turner General Manager
Negative experience: When I first started coming here which was about 4 years ago and before COVID my experience was amazing I have stopped going to Banatyne this is based on the few massages and facial I have had. I am always kept waiting past my time even when I arrive 5 to 8 minutes early. My rushed 30 minute massage was more like 20 minutes and not effective at all. And don't forget they kept me waiting past my booked time. I thought I'd try their facial it just wasn't good. They have 1 or 2 ladies and the Manager I can't remember her name who really know their job and the proper technique to use when doing a massage and a facial. Shame I have a different person every time I go. I go elsewhere now for my massages.
Negative experience: I received a gift voucher for a spa day with a 55 minute treatment. I decided to go with a friend and booked through head office in writing. When we arrived at the spa, the therapist did not even look up to greet us, she only asked who had completed the medical form and then failed to consult on things that were highlighted on the form. We were kept waiting for more than 5 minutes while they prepared the treatment room and then, she announced that I would be receiving a 35 minute treatment. When I corrected her that my voucher was for 55 minutes, she blamed head office for the booking but refused to acknowledge that I was being short-changed. She then told me that I was unhelpful by continuing to discuss the issue and completely disregarded my request to receive what had been paid for. In the end I only received a half-a*sed massage which was rushed. DO NOT BUY a spa day at this establishment. You have to bring your own towels and robes of pay £15. The relaxation room only has plastic garden loungers which are not comfortable. It's basically a local authority health club with a pound shop spa. Fairlawns is the best local spa with great facilities, staff with friendly professionalism that actually care about their clients needs. Bannatyne's ruined a gift that I had saved until now to enjoy. Buy-a-gift should not partner with them.
Fantastic experience: Lovely brilliant went for my 60th birthday
Fantastic experience: One of the best Bannatyne spa's I have visited as a guest. Full body massage was excellent. Although, the therapist was quite talkative.
Negative experience: Where do I start. Dirty Pool, Sauna and Steam Room rarely open. Mens showers filthy and over crowding in the Gym Area. The pool has been out of action several times because visitors have decided to take a glass bottle poolside which broke. The pool was shut for several days and when i spoke to management about our monthly subs should be reduced I was told that these things happen. This Gym needs a complete overhaul and head office should get involved.
Positive experience: Staff are really nice, and this centre is average, but compared to my original club in Solihull, this club is not of the same standard but is charged at a higher rate. Entertainment on gym equipment such as TV, radio screens and audio, etc. did not work on a lot of them. Also, I could not log onto the Wellness App on some equipment in the gym as there was no signal. There's no café, changing rooms could do with modernising. I informed the club of these comments and whilst I understand about the changing rooms and the lack of a café. My comments about the gym equipment screens, signal, audio, and not being able to log into the Wellness App on the screens weren't even acknowledged. It would have been nice to receive an explanation about when the equipment such as screens etc. would be repaired, but clearly, they are not maintained enough. Instead, I was told that Sutton is at a higher price due to its location. However, Solihull is on its own grounds next to a golf course! I only swapped because I've moved to the area, and this club is less than 5 minutes away. If not, I would not be paying more for receiving less. What happened to ensuring your customers get the best experience each time they use your service?
Negative experience: I haven’t used this gym for probably about 8-9 months but I was still in a year contact and paid £60 per month until the contact was meant to be over. I then get a call whilst I am on holiday after believing I had cancelled my membership saying I owe another £60 and that is because I “didn’t put it in writing/ send an email” so it “automatically” kept rolling. As a company you should email your customers reminding them their contract is almost up and give them the option to proceed. I kept checking for when my contract was up and then cancelled after the year, and for them to charge me again when I’d spent £720 over the year haven’t used it is completely a joke. Absolute scam of a company. Better off using pure gym.
Negative experience: Services never in full use. Jaquzzis always out of action Carpark not run by cctv, I know if a few instances whereby people have had an accident or got their car broken into and the Health Club did nothing, although they have cctv showing as 'in operation', it doesn't actually work. Classes are good, gym is good with decent equipment although does have a tendancy to have out of order machines too. Always putting the prices up but you never see any improvements. Just had the shower rooms refurbed but they look worse than the previous ones and smell.
Positive experience: First time ever for me ,really like the whole set up
Negative experience: We booked a couples spa treatment using a red letter voucher that was given to us at Christmas. We decided to use it here and travel from Manchester. Firstly we had to pay £14 to rent a towel and a robe. I have never been to a spa which doesn't give you a towel, robe and slippers. The gym was terrible. One weight machine so I had to wait or move onto something else. The swimming pool was like a council leisure centre. The decor was outdated. The best thing was the spa. I wish I only went to the spa and didn't use extra facilities. I had Leah on the day she was kind, calming and went above and beyond. She is an asset to the company.
Fantastic experience: Bannatyne' Sutton Coldfield offers excellent equipment, facilities, and spa options, all of which are well-maintained. As this is classed as a "higher tier" health club if joining from here, this enables multi-access to various clubs across the UK. The staff are always very helpful especially Katie Maund who has provided exceptional service. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure a great experience. Overall, this is a fantastic gym, spa, and club to join, highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: Came today for a spa treatment and it was a pleasant experience from the moment we entered. Debbie on reception was really helpful and super accommodating. And the ladies in the spa were all amazing too
Negative experience: Couldn't join in the water activitys and was told l need a green wrist band...also paid 6 pounds for 3 lockers.. l was told l would get my money back within a day or two..but still waiting for it...phoned up but no ones got back to me...no good
Positive experience: I would not go for a massage here again it was so mediocre, waste of money for me
Positive experience: Staff very helpful. Lovely day spent in SPA. Will definitely be returning.
Positive experience: Came here for a spa day with treatments, the place is clean and it was quiet before 4pm . Facilities were pretty clean and the massages are okay. Would probably visit again if there was an offer on
Negative experience: Visited as a prospective member. Staff disinterested, no enthusiasm at all. Prices far to high for a low to mid range gym
Negative experience: Not impressed. Staff seemed not to care and the massage was poor and less time than expected. Wouldn’t return, very dissapointed
Positive experience: Very relaxing. Quite busy on a Saturday. My masseuse was not happy to be at work.
Fantastic experience: Clean, friendly staff and not very busy. Love the facilities and specially relax room
Negative experience: It's just PureGym rolled in glitter. It has little bits that make it seem alright but you scratch the surface in your first month and see it's not in the slightest a premium product. Nobody treats it with respect, people leave stuff everywhere and don't unrack weight from bars, the gym staff are nonexistent and never say hello let alone see if anyone could do with a spot or make sure the free weights area is tidy. There's one squat rack so if two people want to squat or deadlift then good luck. They play adverts over the broken speakers which is so anti-luxury and just screams "budget gym". If you want to just do some cardio and be one of the combined 10 lucky people who can awkwardly fit in the sauna at one time it might work for you, but if you actually want to do free weights and 7 other people also want to then yeah...good luck with that. My contract can't end soon enough.
Positive experience: Booking a spa day at Bannatyne was straightforward, facilitated by a voucher. The venue and treatment rooms created a pleasant atmosphere, contributing to a positive experience. However, I'm withholding a full 5 stars due to a couple of reasons. Firstly, the extra charges were a bit of a letdown. The £10 deposit and £8 gown hire payment felt unnecessary and somewhat inconvenient. It would have been more enjoyable without these unexpected additional costs. Moreover, the spa day didn't turn out to be as serene as I hoped. The pool area was quite lively, with people being chatty, affecting the relaxation factor. Once my treatments were done, I opted to leave rather than return to the pool area. It’s also a bit expensive to park nearby in Brindley Place. I did get a discount but still £2.50 per hour meant I spent £10 on parking whilst there too
Fantastic experience: I was here today with my cousin, we had an amazing day. Wonderful spa treatments and the gym. Excellent customer service 10/10 ✨
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted with how I’ve been treated at bannatyne I’ve been overcharged on my monthly gym membership with bannatyne £100 that I do not owe and they have not decided to get to the bottom of it. no one has helped me with my complaint and it has been 3 days. They do not have any manners and patience when it comes to customers.
Negative experience: Very disappointing service!!!!!! Booked a full body Swedish massage for my mom and on getting there paid for a spa bag which I thought was ridiculous. Wondering why a spa won’t provide basic amenities to their clients is mind boggling. She was then assigned an inexperienced therapist who was not very accommodating to her needs while on the table. She was then led to a relaxation room which was cold and not relaxing at all Something that was meant to be a very relaxing experience turned out to be a nightmare. We only chose this place due to proximity but it turned out to be a complete waste of money. Will not book again
Negative experience: Expensive and very small isnt worth the price
Negative experience: I'm a member however will not keep contract dirty! Female locker room appalling showers poor dirty! Very dated!
Positive experience: Could be a lot better. Summing pool small, gym small and only a coffee machine in the entry area.. for how much per month?!
Positive experience: Friendly staff. Sometimes are busy so use the app to find quiet times.
Fantastic experience: Had a spa day as a gift. My friend and I had lovely day. We relaxed in a dimly lit room, had swim, used jacuzzi and sauna and steam rooms. Best of all three treatments back and scal massage and a facial. Not time restricted , easy to park. Only downside no cafe, although we could have ordered food in.
Negative experience: The Shrewsbury branch is ignoring my emails so I’m leaving a one star review on every Bannatynes in the country
Positive experience: The facilities are ok. Much needed is a separate disabled changing area, which would give access to the carer of the opposite gender!
Negative experience: Just to clarify i intended to visit here for my mother's belated birthday present and i had a couple of questions as this would have been the first time for both of us attending a spa, the receptionist said she would get one of their other members of staff to call me back but were all in sessions at that time, but nearly a month later still no call.
Fantastic experience: I'd like to say a massive thank you to Katie at Sutton Coldfield Spa. She helped sort an outstanding issue I had quickly, & effectively and was very professional. She explained all products throughly and was knowledgeable. She is a credit to your spa
Negative experience: I paid £157 for treatments, when I arrived we were greeted to be told we have to pay for a towel. Now paying £157 for treatments you expect to be given a towel at least. Once in the spa area the girls proceeded to finish off their conversation before greeting us, told us they didn’t know where the changing rooms were and that the receptionist should have told them. When asked questions about towels their immediate reaction was to say that’s not our area and you need to ask reception. They were very unhelpful, did not care about our experience. I walked away feeling annoyed, deflated and will never return again. What a waste of money!
Positive experience: I had a full body Swedish massage, followed by a body scrub. My therapist, Evelyn was first class. I felt really comfortable with her, able to request my preferences and she kept me informed throughout the experience. Both treatments were excellent and I came away feeling lovely. Five stars for Evelyn. Thank you! Four stars for Bannatyne with two recommendations to improve spa ambience: 1) Spa music volume too loud which was to overcome gym class noise/music; 2) Add scented diffusers/candles in spa reception and spa treatment rooms so as not to feel gym/pool vibe.
Positive experience: Great facilities, clean, friendly staff
Negative experience: Filth! , Just one filthy place. The showers are in such unsanitary and stinking place it should shut down for health reasons
Negative experience: Disappointing Facilities and Maintenance at Bannatyne Health Club And Spa I recently visited Bannatyne Health Club And Spa for the second time, accompanying a friend who is a full-time member. Unfortunately, my experience at this gym left much to be desired. To begin with, I was taken aback by the high cost of their day pass, which was priced at £15. Considering what I encountered, I felt it was rather steep. Upon entering the gym, I was met with a sense of disbelief. The facilities were in a poor state, with cramped machines and an overall appearance of neglect. It seemed as though the gym hadn't been updated in ages, and I was left disappointed by the lack of care put into its maintenance. The showers were a particular area of concern. The unpleasant smell and apparent lack of cleanliness suggested that they had not been properly attended to for quite some time. This was not the pleasant experience I was expecting. Furthermore, the outdated steam rooms were in need of a complete revamp. It was astonishing to think that my friend was paying £58 per month for a membership at a gym with such subpar and outdated facilities. Understandably, my friend has chosen to cancel their membership, and I, too, will likely refrain from returning. On a personal note, I pay £30 a month for a leisure center in Ladywood, where the facilities are like night and day in comparison. I had higher expectations from a company like Bannatyne Health Club And Spa
Positive experience: First visit to the club today. First impressions - very good - pleasantly surprised. The duty manager whom greeted me was friendly and personable. She promptly issued my magnetic wrist band - no hassle and there was a choice of size, depending upon ones wrist size. This wristband worked well getting past the turnstiles and you use the same band to operate the lockers - there is also a handy device just inside the changing room where you can tap your band to be reminded which locker your stuff is in. I only used the wet area today - two saunas, two steam, two Jacuzzis and the pool which also has a 'cold tub' section with seats and bubbles. I paid extra for towel hire (£20 more per month) and a clean towel was provided as expected, upon my request. I viewed the three studios (two general purpose and one spin with virtual spin installed also) - gym area and studios appeared well equipped and clean. The showers you can adjust the temperature which I like and there is a handy shelf inside the door of each shower with a partition so you can hang your towel and place your belongings without them getting wet in the shower. Shower gel available in the showers and hand-wash in the toilets. The whole facility seemed very clean and I observed a staff member checking temperatures and chlorine levels of pool appliances. I also saw someone hoovering the gym area. Yes the actual building is a bit dated, but I actually sort of like it - not quite so clinical as other newer gyms. Cleaning materials seemed available throughout. One star deducted because: 1) Temperature of 'hot tubs' rather low. 2) Temperature of steam rooms a little low. (reading a previous review, it would seem the temperatures were reduced to save money on energy - I understand this, but it is an expensive gym, so I wouldn't expect such sacrifices to be being made - if really necessary, I'd rather pay a few pounds more per month and them operate at the right temperature, seeing as I'm already paying over £90 because of only selecting a 3 month term and due to adding towel hire). Saunas were plenty hot enough though - they could maybe get away with turning the sauna down a few degrees and the steam up. 3) There is a swimwear dryer but no wet kit bags provided - I do support the reduction of single-use plastics, but I feel bags to put wet kit in is justifiable (the dryer is a spin dryer not a tumble dryer!). Naturally I can't even wrap it in a towel, unless they want me to take a towel each visit - obviously not. Basically either I provide the bag or they do - for the money charged, I'd rather they provide it! 4) I'd like a one month commitment option and an option for multi-club on the three month commitment option (or 1 month if they offered it). 5) I'd like to receive one or two free guest passes monthly - appreciate this could compromise the usability of facilities for members, but other similar gyms offer it. I appreciate I can take a guest for £15 though - about a similar cost as day passes at similar gyms - obviously I'd rather it were £10 or less though! That said, if giving out free passes means I can't use anything due to too many guests, obviously I would rather it not be offered. The reviews were mixed and I was hesitant about joining, so I thought I would try and provide a balanced review for other perspective members. Overall so far so good, but will update if they do anything to upset me - hopefully not!
Fantastic experience: Love it. Classes are brilliant. well done Helen. . Pool, sauna,
Negative experience: The Spa that isn’t! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Was so excited to receive the gift of a spa day, what a huge disappointment. On checking in £18 for a robe towel and slippers in a bag. Give the robe back and you get £10 back. So we need to pay £8 to use a robe and towel!! Alternative is wonder round the public corridors in a swimsuit!! Never had that on a spa day before. The pool is grotty with two poolside chairs, so nowhere to sit & chill. No coffee facilities we could find, recommended Costa over the road. It is a health club, but seriously this place should not be advertised for spa days. Customer service non existent. Like others, if I could do no stars I would. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
Positive experience: Very small gym and pool car park is not the best other than that facilities are good and staff are great
Negative experience: Booked a spa day for my wife, mother and mother in law. With the treatments the cost was circa £180 for the day. They had an array of problems and posted a complaint via spa seekers and never got any feedback. AVOID!
Positive experience: Nice day out with friend for her birthday. Seemed pretty clean. 2 saunas and 2 steam rooms plus jacuzzi. Nice relaxation area which was a good extra. Had a treatment which okay. Would have been nice to have had a cafe for a snack.
Positive experience: Very relaxing experience Wonderful back massage and facial treatments Staff very friendly
Negative experience: Not sure where to start with this!! Awful customer service. Took my friend there for her birthday 1st time at a spa before. They Tried to cancel on the morning of the spa due to staffing issues. I refused to reschedule so they somehow still allowed us to go. Treatments were rushed therapist's too busy to make your experience relaxed. Made a complaint and the customer service was awful. Will never waste my time or money with bannayte spa again!!!
Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my treatments and service
Negative experience: Paid for a 3month member all the money was paid upfront however they told me they needed my direct debit so I'm on the system and the to cancel my direct debit as soon as which I did. My membership is expired and thought my experience I kept getting messages saying I owed money which I did not. I received a call from them asking if I'd like to continue I said no then they said please sent a cancellation email which I did. Then today get a text saying i owed money called up spoke to some girl called Emily the rudest most arrogant staff member I've ever spoke to trying to threaten me saying if I don't pay they'll take things further the decides to put the phone down because I was fuming then I spoke to the manager she was very good apologised saying it was a fault on their behalf it's ashame staff like Emily can't do their job in a professional act trying to belittle customers who pay her wages.
Fantastic experience: Great, friendly environment to train in the gym - with a great range of equipment.
Negative experience: If I could give it no stars I would, absolutely terrible. More like a leisure centre than a spa. Everything's all over the place, it's not quiet or relaxing anywhere in the building at all. We arrived at 10am and there was an aqua class going on in the pool but said there was a lane we could swim in... really? We had to pay for robes slippers and towel £36 for both with a £20 refundable deposit. No food or drinks available apart from a vending machine. The relaxation room is more like a dorm from a kids school trip, no calming music. Basically a few sun loungers with a blanket. Also Flickering lights in the relaxation room, the heater sparks when you try and turn it on. Would not recommend at all it's rammed and extremely loud. Wouldn't come again if they paid me. Can't stress enough how.much it's more like a leisure centre than a spa, not relaxing at all.
Negative experience: Rubbish gym only thing good is the swimming pool n sauna and steam room. Not enough gym equipment don’t matter what time you go it’s always packed in the little gym section they have. Got my self in a year contract which I can’t get out which they won’t let me and was paying n wasn’t even going. End up freezing my membership and was being charged 10 pound a month for 6 months just todo that. And now it’s started back up which I only knew from my bank statement not from them. Broad day robbery. Pay so much and they don’t even fix’s the place. Wouldn’t recommend.
Negative experience: Had a spa day treatments were OK £16 for robe and towel for 2. I have never had to do this before. No hot drinks available, no food. Wouldn't use again too expensive for medicore service/facilities
Negative experience: Do not join this gym they are thieves. I cancelled the direct debit according to the staff member the way she told me. Then 2 months later I get letter have to pay £168 then week later Arc solicitor and debt collection are bullying and harassing me in paying over £300. I am going through a difficult period. Am disabled. If you check the net they are doing this with many people. They harass and threaten to make payment which they don’t owe. People should stand up for there right. Please do not join this gym. SHAME ON YOU FOR STEAKING PEOPLES MONEY
Positive experience: Went as a Wowcher deal, the spa treatments were amazing and the grils were super lovely! The receptionist although busy was very thorough. My only gripe, really is that its cashless (i only had cash) its 18.00 for a bag of flipflops, towel and robe tou get 10.00 back though. The lockers hace zero instruments and work via a bracelet you wear...im old i need instructions! The bedd around the pool are ild, sunken and had no soft topping so it was our own towel only. The quiet room/meditation was freezing so we left immediately. Shame there isnt a cafe inside as it would have been nice to have a coffee and lunch, although there is a coffee machine but that's harfly luxury. Overall good.
Negative experience: Terrible club. Only concerned about one thing and that is money! Poor investment into facilities, many faulty workout machines and equipment. Changing rooms smell of mould, many areas haven’t had a touch of paint in years. Shocking they have the audacity to call themselves a health club and spa. Stay well away!
Negative experience: Mate dead gym. Dead atmosphere, the music is so low its like a gym for deaf people. Ac off in the showers, might aswel not even shower
Negative experience: I had a spa booked an my day was completely ruined by unnecessarily rude staff. The elderly woman at the front desk was very condescending and was very cold. A younger member of staff was also very rude and blunt in there when asked a simple question. The staff clearly have poor customer service here bringing down what otherwise would have been a pleasant experience.
Positive experience: It's ok more of a sports centre so spa people share it with the public ( swimming pool and 2 Jacuzzis) the spa is nice but the ladies are young and inexperienced, nice massage but some treatments rushed and not talked thru what they are doing we had a facial and about 10 different things put on your face with explanation. The girls were polite thou and friendly. Not really a relaxing environment in the pool and jacuzzi area people bring babies and lane swim most of sutton Coldfield was in the jacuzzi
Fantastic experience: Spa day with the wife... Professional and friendly from the moment we walked through the door, the icing on the cake was the back massage, scalp massage and the Swedish leg massage... the wife had a back massage, scalp massage and a facial... the two ladies were fantastic and we feel totally relaxed.. sipping prosecco and and Bud now In The chill out room.. highly recomend
Negative experience: A disappointing Spa Day. First I must say the Staff were very friendly, helpful and the treatments were very good. Unfortunately the music was very load in the treatment room. Not relaxing, but had to drown out the noise from the excerice classes. We had to pay for robes and towels £16.00, which I have never had to pay before. Also the carpark was for 3 hours max. Was not worth over £100 paid by my son as a treat.
Negative experience: Sounds like it needs an up great to what I am used to
Fantastic experience: We have been visiting Bannatyne in Sutton Coldfield for the last two years, and there are two other bannatynes closer ! Absolutely excellent full body Swedish massage every time no matter which masseuse we have. Excellent pre-New Year treat, and seriously relaxing. Thanks again all the team! So friendly and helpful
Negative experience: Travelled from Bridgnorth to a, spa, day with treatments Staff illness, so no treatments, Pool cold No towels Offered us to use gym etc. But not gym people explained with we were for spa, treatment. As compensation offered us a free coffee. Staff didn't seem to care. 2 unhappy ladies .would not recommend
Negative experience: I booked a pamper day for myself and my friend . We arrived couldn’t have treatment as therapist off .no one seemed interested that my friend had travelled 2 hrs to get there . Pool was freezing cold . All we got offered was a free hot drink . Very disappointed would not recommend at all . The voucher cost a lot of money . My advise if your thinking of booking is don’t waste your money avoid !
Negative experience: 25 pounds for a day pass robbing the public. Do you get a glass of champagne with that cost ? I was all set to come buy a day pass not a chance. Daylight robbery...
Negative experience: 1 star for customer service: my partner wanted to cancel his monthly membership, he called them via phone to cancel days before they deducting direct debit monthly, they told it will be cancelled no issues, no further deductions will be made. Then 2 weeks later got a phone call from reception saying they were not able to cancel and he still needs to pay that month despite he let them no in time. They also asked card details via phone to pay for the last month… unprofessional and unbelievable that they not able to sort out a cancellation properly…
Fantastic experience: Recently joined and it a lovely health club , had massage today too which was amazing
Positive experience: Booked a spa day here, so was able to use the facilities. Changing rooms nice and spacious, very clean, good amenities and even a TV in there. Large pool with a separate seated pool area next to the jacuzzis. Two jacuzzis, two sauna/steam rooms. Lots of seating, a lovely spa overall. The relaxation room is large, comfortable and relaxing. I had some treatments which were fantastic! I've re-booked as they were so good. Only downsides were, no water in the relaxation room, and as the treatment rooms are opposite the gym you can hear music, and there was some loud equipment being used which was a shame. Minor things that are easily fixed. Pleasantly surprised, will definitely be back.
Fantastic experience: Very clean, staff very friendly. Facial was professionally done and whole experience so relaxed! Definitely will come back
Positive experience: My wife and I had a good relaxing time
Negative experience: Can never get through? Do you have customer service? I’m not sure you do. 5th day of ringing no answer!!!!!
Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful spa experience today. Unfortunately we don’t know the names of our therapists but they were amazing and most helpful. We totally recommend the spa. Thank you xx
Negative experience: Awful - would not recommend. Many classes don't start on time. LBT instructor does not even work out in the class and walks around with socks on, the least motivating class I have ever attended. Body Pump and Body Combat and Spin however are good. When I tried to cancel my membership they made a big deal about not being able to do it over the phone or email. When I went into the gym to do it, I never received any confirmation, paperwork or email to confirm it had been cancelled and I since called up to double check (shouldn't have to chase) - I was told it had been processed. I guess confirmation emails aren't a thing now. Then surprise surprise, I received an outstanding bill payment email today as of course I had an inkling they wouldn't actually cancel my membership and would try to take payment. This is just one of a few "admin" errors I've experienced here. When booking my one and only spa treatment - i was overcharged and the refund took over 3 weeks to settle. Overpriced, dated looking gym with admin errors all over the shop.
Negative experience: I have been a member of this gym for over 20 years, from the very start of the old days of the LivingWell. I haven't seen such a bad state of it until these last few weeks. If you are thinking of joining, you should note that although your contract will say that there are 2 saunas, 2 steam rooms and 2 Jacuzzis in operation, they have now closed off 50% of them, on the account of ..."we are saving energy". Most of memers are flabagasted. It begs questions such as: a) if "saving energy" is why the 50% of the facilities are closed off, then on who's account and on who's expense is this done? Us, the members for sure! b) if "saving energy" is not in the contract as a term or condition, are the contracts we have signed, paying over £60 a month, still valid, or they have been breached? c) is "saving energy" and closure of the 50% of the facilities safe and healthy way to force 22 men into a small confine of a steam room where arguments over the "time spent in" regularly insue? d) what is the maximum number they can have in any of the 2 open facilities? Most women do not even dream of entering a room of 22 men, so there is gender discrimination which insues etc, etc, etc. If you want to be stressed and have your money taken away without you being given access to what you have signed for, then go ahead an join this "gym" which is quickly turning into a bit of a torture chamber. The same is true with the machines and equipment up on the gym floor. I would actively discourage anyone joining this facility - its simply no longer safe or relaxing.
Positive experience: Wonderful spa day thank you. Staff were helpful and friendly. First class massage and super facilities. Only 2 moans...the relaxation room music was uncomfortably loud and not relaxing and there was no water available to drink. Blankets would help too.
Fantastic experience: SPA. Chest wax treatment: Triumphantly pleased with Laila's professionalism. Thank you
Negative experience: They turned off a steam and sauna room tody, turned down temperature in the jacuzzi and pool, as well as turned off 1 in 3 of running machines to save electricity! No warning, no consultation! They simply don’t care about members opinions! Many members talking about cancelling their memberships, some even talking about breach of contract as they were sold these facilities on sales walk arounds! disgusting treatment of members!
Negative experience: Dealt with a argumentative women so I spoke to the manager they didn’t care did nothing so I cancelled my membership wouldn’t recommend , problems may occur and there’s no security around
Fantastic experience: Chanelle in the Spa was so accommodating. Been to several other branches in the past but 11/10 will be coming back to Sutton again!
Negative experience: There are some nice facilities in there but the people who use the gym make it a bad experience. They don't put their weights away, they throw used tissues all over the place & leave rubbish around.
Negative experience: not the best place for a bannTynes it was dirty, place comes under Sutton but it's actually kingstanding and full of falcon Lodge and kingstanding riff raff
Positive experience: Recently if you want to swim in the evenings it is virtually impossible. Too many people are in the pool preventing a decent swim. The lane set aside for laps is also too full and relies on everyone swimming at the same pace. I am lucky to be able to go in the daytime too, but I know some people who are working and are considering cancelling their memberships. They gym also gets very busy meaning you cannot get access to much of the equipment.
Positive experience: Superb friendly helpful staff.
