We've recently invested in a brand new gym floor, powered by state-of-the-art Technogym™ kit, as well as a new outdoor kids play area and NuKitchen café. With us, everything is built around you. Positive experience: What can I say after reading some of the reviews I was really shocked, I love this gym was previously a member at anytime fitness Bradley Stoke but recently changed back in April to Nuffield. The staff are extremely friendly, the classes are fun and enjoyable pool sauna and stream room are Abit small but still Great, I do go on less busy times so can’t say about how it gets during the busy times but overall I find the gym and lovely place and enjoy coming here!

Negative experience: Member Bristol North two years Pros large Centre with good access and free parking, friendly staff , cleaning good, Cons Gym too hot AHU’s constantly broken, Jacuzzi closed post Covid & boarded up cited energy costs despite expensive upgrade a real shame for us older ones recommended for mobility and health issues, Sauna constantly trips out, Steam room often closed recently for several weeks cited new door frame required only for a new hinge was sourced as a temporary repair & also drains very smelly , pool temperature fluctuates & feels cold definitely not heated IMO and cleaning is undertaken when in use. Paul the manager is only at the Centre part of the week but always responds to complaints but hides behind T&C’s & when both Pool and Steam room closed offered free weeks pass and free use of Clifton facilities which is not practical and expensive instead of reducing membership fees which are excessive even with corporate discounts. Centre requires large investment and revamp to bring it up to standard and in no way can it be called Health and Wellbeing Centre. Avoid as there are better and more cost effective Centres in the area .

Fantastic experience: 5* service from Hector at the front desk - appreciate it! Steam room was out of service though which was slightly irritating however the gym seemed to be in good condition. Good quality changing rooms and sauna.

Negative experience: Poor service, staff are forced to keep repeating same fake stories until customer gives up and stop complaining. Zero common sense. Write to head office or CEO but they don't have balls to face customers, happy to hide under their desk

Negative experience: Jacuzzi still not returned !!! Membership cost is still rising

We have, as you have stated, also had to unfortunately also increase membership fees to cover our increased operational costs. Negative experience: It is an overall good gym, but the WiFi is really poor and is my main issue with this gym. There is no signal with Vodafone, and I therefore rely on the wifi, which, however, randomly stops working. Which means i constantly need to disconnect and reconnect. Wifi has several dead zones, and there has been no improvement after having contacted customer service multiple times. I've been told to update my phone, but I get no issues with the WiFi in other establishments, so the issue is not with my phone. Even whatsapp doesn't work properly at this gym.

Negative experience: The gym is ok but the swimming pool is not clean, you see people coming in with their shoes walking around the pool, the changing rooms are freezing cold. You spend a lot of money for not much really.

Negative experience: Really disappointed to have just found out that other Nuffield clubs have reopened their jacuzzis yet this one is still closed citing heating costs as the reason back in 2022. This was a company wide decision affecting ALL clubs. Well apparently not. We've had no discount on membership, in fact, fees have gone up. I also know that other clubs have had full refurbs of their facilities whilst this club has a list of repairs as long as my arm!!

Any sites that still have them will have these phased out in the coming years, at the end of their service life. I am afraid we are not in the position to discount membership, due to this closure, any savings made have been used towards our increased operational costs. Negative experience: Let me start by saying that my Nuffield PT is brilliant and deserves to work somewhere way better than this. But that aside, the gym is shabby, the showers are grim, the pool area is awful its overpriced compared to elsewhere and customer service is awful. I enquired about adding my husband to my membership but they clearly aren't interested in additional business so we'll be moving to somewhere that is better value for money with nicer staff (although I will miss my PT!)

Negative experience: Overall it's a lovely health centre but they should take more care of the pool area. Swimming caps are not compulsory, you can imagine the amount of hair in the water that is not particularly clean also because people use the steam room or sauna and then go straight in the water. Also screaming and jumping in the pool shouldn't be allowed but there is always a bunch of kids who do it.

Hi Ilaria, thank you for this critical feedback. In line with most leisure locations we can't enforce a pool cap rule, as this is not considered to be normal practice. For this reason, we do make sure the cleaning schedule is aligned to minimise debris (including hair) in the pool. If you do witness any poor poll etiquette, please do speak to a lifeguard or duty manager, who will take further action, if needed. Negative experience: Went today have been going for over 20 years. Where do I start; the showers - most not working and doors left open with just pipes out the wall. The costume drier gone and just missing again pipes out the wall. The changing rooms freezing. The jacuzzi shut. Just poor for a private gym.

Negative experience: I've been coming to this gym for years and it gets worse and worse, granted the gym and equipment is brilliant except 1 working water fountian that produces luke warm pond water. If you want to train at peak times then be prepared to train with groups of school children in there school uniform. The most disappointing part of the club is the changing rooms and pool area.... it is terrible. The hot tub is permanently off, showers are always broken and dirty, pool is freezing these facilities are in awful condition and issues need to be addressed as there are cheaper fitness clubs in the area.

Negative experience: I have been with Nuffield for over 3 years now, firstly had my membership in Wimbledon (London) but I have never received such a bad customer service as in the Stoke Gifford one and by only just one person (a lady that wears a white shirt and has black hair and sits at the reception sometimes). I have firstly been questioned in not a friendly manner why I had 2 cards and they were both valid and used them for the past 2 years but didn’t remove them out of my keys so she made me remove one saying that only one works - however I’ve never been pointed by any of the staff member before and I must say all of them are very friendly but her. Then yesterday I walked into the gym at 7PM after work given the change of the weekend schedule to 8PM and I’ve been told even before welcomed to the building that they are closing at 7:30 and asked how come if the schedule says 7:30? And said gym floor and sauna facilities close at 7:30 and the building shuts at 8? What’s the point then changing the schedule to 8 then? I worked in hospitality for many years and if the schedule said a certain hour, we wouldn’t close the facilities 30 mins earlier. In Wimbledon they would close sauna facilities 30 mins before the closing time but gym floor would be still open. Honestly the rudeness and the facilities been broken all the time make me consider actually leaving Nuffield - spa pool was closed over a year ago, there are 2 non functional women toilets for weeks, showers have mould and smell like it, steam room smells mouldy too, what’s the point on paying +80 pounds a month, to get some diseases or what?

Members should only have one access card (to prevent access by multiple people on one membership) and, due to the size of the centre, we do need to begin closure procedure earlier than the smaller locations. Negative experience: This is a leisure centre, not a gym. Subscribed members are limited to one single lane for hours in the evening in favour of swimming lessons and ‘family swim’. You can only swim at the crack of dawn or late at night.

Fantastic experience: I can’t fault the gym or the staff here! Everyone is super friendly and helpful (Brad, Pedro, Callum, Tyler and all other team members) Brad (at reception) went above and beyond to help the other day when I mentioned I had left my card at home (and perhaps misplaced it). As I was walking out after my workout, he had gone to the effort of making a new membership card for me to use without me even asking. Super helpful! Pedro is always smiling and super friendly. His spin classes are amazing (and brutal haha) Highly recommend this gym!

Negative experience: Incredibly disappointed with the customer service. Called to enquire about joining the gym at 10am. They answered then hung up straight away. Called back 15 mins later, they did the same. Called back at 1pm, after a long ring, they hung up again. As annoyed as I was, I called straight back and a guy finally picked up sounding incredibly annoyed. Asked him about the services and swimming facilities in the gym and received blunt answers and incredibly long pauses between my questions. Why would you hire people that aren't trained in customer service? If you employ trainers to work in the gym, why would you make them in charge of answering phones if all they do is hang up the phone? Makes no sense to me. It's a real shame because the pictures of the gym look good, but I won't pay all this money just to be treated like this. Hire people that have experience facing customers.

Negative experience: I went to the swimming pool with my sister earlier this week for the first time. Being disabled I asked where the disabled changing was and was told at the reception she didn't know and to ask the lifeguard. He showed me to a family room and said this was it.There was no disability equipment at all save for a disabled seat fixed far too high on the wall by the shower. I wasn't tall enough to be able to sit on it comfortably. I am a member attending Clifton Bristol club where every attention is paid to disabled members with all the equipment they need and believe that everyone, disabled or not, should be able to access everything. You say there's wheel chair access but what about when you get into the club. There's nothing there!

Fantastic experience: This is a well-equipped gym with excellent facilities. There is a large free weight area, a lot of weight stations, squat racks and a bodyweight training area with two punch bags. It is clean, busy without being overcrowded, and has a good atmosphere - no attitude. Benefits from a cafe area and pool/sauna.

Negative experience: Went to find out details for joining. The doors were not opening,was unsure if they were not working or were locked.There were 5 staff at the front desk nobody made eye contact coz they would have to come.a young ladies walked up later to say closed,but was extremely rude. By this time someone else joined at the door too.There is no timing at the front neither do they say closed. You have lost a member already at least the active centre staff at bradley stoke are pleasant, not arrogant and rude and care for people who come to join. It does not take much to walk up with a smile and say we are closed when you see someone at ur front door, diabolical.

Negative experience: I brought a guest to the gym today. The pool was really cold and she tells me that not only were there only two showers working in the ladies changing room it it was also very cold in there. Very embarrassing as I was hoping she would join.

Positive experience: Great Gym Equipment , Staff are really friendly, Opening hours could be better 7.30pm close on a weekend is pretty poor for a premium gym, and maybe a extra hour till 10.30pm in the week would be much better , male toilets are falling apart a bit as well need Refurbishment.

Negative experience: Spa pool all turned off to save money and in the spin classes both projectors are now broke one for 6 months place is falling to bits

Negative experience: Absolute shambles. Facilities often closed due to broken down plant and equipment. Recently, the showers and pool were closed due to broken boilers. The building fabric is especially dilapidated in the pool, with paint flaking and corroded metal. The gym needs to be closed for extensive refurbishment, but I can’t see that happening anytime soon.

Negative experience: Was a 4 when I joined but it's coming apart at the seems. Today the jacuzzi, steam room and a few showers were out of service. In the gym the AC was out and it was hot no paper towels in any of the racks and too many pieces of equipment out of order.. needs some tdc to bring it back up again and definitely needs a water fountain in the pool area

Negative experience: Having been a member for over a year and a half I’ve to say it’s not worth a penny, the staff at reception it’s very rude and abusive unless it’s to collect money. Never again. Edit: so 11 months to respond. Have you change anything that may change my opinion? I don’t think so. I am happy with my actual gym

Fantastic experience: Clean pool, sauna and changing rooms. Very friendly staff and good food. Shallow pool for the kids. Life guard always by poolside. Very clean changing rooms and showers. If you are planning to use the lockers, bring ur own lock or borrow one from the reception.

Negative experience: The gym used to be amazing pre covid. Since then though then changed from 12 month contract to rolling contract which has increased the number of members. It’s great more people working out but it’s always so busy now to the point of I’ve walked in and then straight back out. My membership will be getting cancelled and I’ll be going back to my old council gym at quarter of the price and less busy

Negative experience: It's ok. The jacuzzi goes off every 20 minutes for 5 minutes or so and it's only like warm. Great if you like a cold bath with a stranger. Bannatynes one is much better. You just turn it on with a button and it cleans itself when no on presses the button for so long. Only one bench press in the gym which is really annoying. One of the main exercises and you can never do it as it is always in use buy some guy in a skin tight vest on his phone. I would change to Bannatynes if I lived closer as the facilities are all much better. Smaller gym buy it's quiet so not a problem.

Positive experience: Lovely gym we have used for years, but we are finding the hours keep changing but not sure why or how long they will stay that way, either you are open or closed with covid. What is written on Google maps says updated by buisiness one week ago but does not match what we were told on telephone. Getting through on telephone is not always easy. Opening hours not on website, and never have been, but staff sound surprised when I tell them that and when I ask where can I check the hours with out phoning. Feels like trying to phone a oversubscribed public service, not a gym which we pay a large sum for monthly.

Negative experience: It's got great equipment in the gym but its usually very busy and you normally have to wait to use some machines during busy hours. Also the pool is fairly small and the swimming lanes are too narrow. Therefore I do not believe it's great value for the price. Its expensive for the number of equipment that the gym has to offer and the size of the pool. Edit: They got rid of the jacuzzi to save money, showers are out of order for weeks and the changing rooms are dirty! Yet they have the audacity to jack up the price! Absolutely price gouging

Negative experience: I joined this gym after doing a 1 day free pass, which at the time I couldn’t fault. I was a member at the gym for 7 months and ended up having my money refunded due to rude staff and lack of professionalism over the last few months. I tried talking to the manger about the incidents but he was not interested and persisted to be rude himself.

Negative experience: Staff are very polite until they have taken your money, from then on they are rude, ignorant and patronising. You will get stared at by personal trainers as if you are unwelcome. If u are brave enough to complain to the manager about these incidents and have some form of deal you will be told ‘you only pay £37’ as if this makes a difference to the level of service that you should expect. overall very disappointed

Fantastic experience: The staff were all really friendly. Helpful and professional. I attended a workshop ran here and had travelled many miles. The staff allowed me to use the gym while i waited and i couldn't fault that either! Lots up to date great easy to use equipment and help in hand if needed. The studio we were in was good size and everything was clean and tidy. All in all a great place to visit or be a member of

Fantastic experience: It's a lovely gym with a friendly vibe. Very spacious with a great range of modern gym equipment, large changing rooms and shower area, a 25m pool, sauna, steam room and cafe. And it's half price if you are a VitalityLife member, which is excellent value.

Fantastic experience: As a member of this gym for the past 5 years I can say that it is a fantastic gym to attend. It combines quality equipment with a wide range of classes available for you to enjoy. On top of this, the bar area is very good to have a drink after a session or attend for a meal while the sport is on! The pool is very good and the accompanying sauna and hot tub are great additions. The staff are very friendly and always say hello and goodbye upon entering/leaving the premises. The car park has plenty of space a available so parking is rarely an issue. However, the main issue I have with the gym is the price, at the time of writing the price is £64 for an anytime 12 month membership. This can be very steep for some, especially considering other gym rivals. Overall it is a very good gym where the price is the only negative!

Fantastic experience: Good gym with a wide range of classes. Cycle class is great fun! Downside is sometimes classes get full quickly. So be prepared to book 7 days in advance (especially for yoga on a Sunday). Really good facilities for changing. With an adult only area. Cafe on site. Lots of parking!

Fantastic experience: Large equipped gym and lots of classes to try. I attend 3-4 cycle/spin classes and 2-3 aqua aerobics. all the cycle classes are great, and each tutor puts a different spin (like what I did there lol) Mark plays my kind of music with loads to sing along to he is really structured and even if the speedometer isn't working you can follow. Lynda's spins are just 30 minutes and is different as in a lot of the class you peddling in the higher gears great for the legs. Ellie's is Intense intervals of work, followed by short recovery sets. Aqua doesn't feel like you’re working too hard because of the water having said that Linda works you very hard and I like structure which she gives, and Victoria’s is very dance influenced both great tutors. I looked around other gyms including the new villager, but this has real tutors not virtual and I need humans to correct me. I have used the MOTs all with Pedro who is very experienced in health and fitness and before some classes I use strength programme Pedro has designed. Facilities are maintained and of course some stuff goes out of action while being updated. I recently bought vitality medical insurance so get full membership half price. I had been paying the full price and was still worth it full price but lovely getting it for £37!! If you have feedback tell them and if you have suggestions and solutions, they are approachable because they do care. My only suggestions to improve is tutors project their voice not use heads sets, Mark is the only spin tutor I can hear clearly or get better quality head sets. everything else is great

Positive experience: Could be improved. Needs another Jacuzzi so women could relax. Shame in the evenigs you see same people occupying it over and over again. Steamer room could be larger and lights a bit dimmed to achieve more chilled atmosfere. Staff is lovely though.

Negative experience: Very poorly run club. All the staff are leaving due to poor managment and dont appear to be replaced. Corners are cut left right and centre. They have replaced items like shower gels and toilet roll dispensers for very cheap replacements which continuously break. The spa is always broken along with most of the machines in the gym despite continuous complaints. As a healthcare proffesional i have noticed a huge lack of customer care. The nursery staff are very rude to the children and often seem to leave then alone and unattended. It is not worth the money in any respect. You are paying a high price yet you are getting a very poor standard of service. You would get a better service from a budget gym and with all the corners that are being cut. This is basicaly a budget gym with a dirty pool. The last time i was there. I entered the gym saturday 3rd november 2018. The bar area looked like a farm yard. Under staffed. Unproffesional .dirty and what appeared to be untrained staff everywhere. Summed the place up to be honest. Please think twice before signing up here there are better gyms with better atmospheres in the local area.

Fantastic experience: I go here for the Les Mills classes and you can rely on them being great instructors. The group floor classes seem popular in the gym and the facilities are clean and tidy. Bring your own padlock for the lockers. Plenty of parking and helpful staff. Don't forget to remember the parking exit gate code for when you leave Edit: The cafe has a fair food selection on their menu (which I missed last time, so I've increased my score!)

Positive experience: The administration here is somewhat abysmal. Completely got my contract incorrect (put onto a 12 month contract even though agreed at beginning to be on a one month rolling contract). Then charged me a set up fee when agreed not to. Then advised that any monies paid would be added as credit and wouldn't pay any membership fee until month after next... Then told that my direct debit was cancelled (which I had done because they got me to sign a new direct debit form) and questioned how I was going to pay next month's fee (which was supposed to be free?!?). The facilities might be good, a staff friendly, but please make sure you're on top of any contractual stuff before you walk out that door!
