Our comment from FitFit UK about Trent Park Golf Club:

Trent Park Golf Club is a lovely establishment located in North London, offering a picturesque setting and an array of activities for all ages. While some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with the course's maintenance, many appreciate the beautiful scenery and value for money.

Highlights:

  • Fantastic value at £17 for 18 holes, making it accessible for many golf enthusiasts.
  • A great venue for children's parties and diverse activities including horse riding lessons and hockey coaching.
  • Beautiful surroundings and a layout with interesting holes that challenge players of all levels.
  • Friendly and helpful staff who enhance the overall experience.
  • Facilities for parties and events, making it suitable for celebrations.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Course maintenance has been criticized, with reports of long grass, especially on fairways, affecting play.
  • Inconsistent green conditions can detract from the golfing experience.
  • Some issues with the driving range's upkeep have been noted, particularly with the ball cleaning and availability.

Overall, while Trent Park Golf Club holds potential and has received a mixed bag of reviews, it remains an affordable option for leisure golfing with something for everyone.

Trent Park Golf Club: Opinions

Negative experience: Not very great, I’m pretty sure Victoria gave me a single instead of a double when I paid for it but great golf course 10/10!!!

David Klein 10 months ago

Positive experience: Decent course, challenging enough, condition was ok.

Fantastic experience: Trent park is an ideal place for children's birthday parties, a golfing hub, horse riding lessons, hockey and football lessons, just a gorgeous walk in the woods, and so much more! The country club has a facility to hire the facility for parties. Has it's own parking. Really it has something for everyone. Even the little ones have Dinosaur golf and can be booked for the kids parties. We have used so many facilities at this club since ny children were born.

Fantastic experience: Amazing course, for £17 you cannot go wrong. Great scenery and friendly staff who work hard to keep the course playable with such low fees

Fantastic experience: Go here all the time By far and away the best value for money of any course in north London George the greenskeeper is a top bloke too

Negative experience: Used to play Trent Park years ago and enjoyed it. Played it this week and was sadly surprised how awful it is. A shadow of the course it used to be.

Negative experience: No refund policy for a reason, unplayable.

Fantastic experience: Simple Public course with some really interesting elevated tee shots and a fun layout. Fairways and rough were fine but Jesus the length of the greens. Didn’t look like they’d been cut for a week and putts bounced around everywhere. EDIT: played here a week later and everything was perfect. Greens were cut well

Adam Anderson 1 year ago

Negative experience: I'm just a beginner but this course is awful. The fairway grass is too long and even when they cut it they leave all the old dead grass on the fairway so your balls just get lost in clumps of straw. The green conditions are poor, there are ravines on nearly every hole, no signs to show you where next tee is and not even a map on the scorecard. My friend and I will never play there again. Currently we are enjoying Chingford. It's a lovely course and £64 on Saturday for two of us and a buggy, Trent park is £84 and for me on a poor course is extortionate

tom nearney 1 year ago

Positive experience: I'm a long time Trent lover/sufferer, haven't been for a good while but played yest and I was really surprised at the level of grass cutting etc that had been going on. No lost balls in fairways! Don't expect tip top greens or anything, but in general "most improved" category is all but sewn up on the groundskeeping front. Viva Trent.

Thanks Tom. By the way the price is still £17 for 18 holes and not £18 as you stated.

Negative experience: I went to a wake there this week and ordered a pint of Guinness. As soon as I tasted it I knew it was off so I took it back to the bar and the lady agreed that it was. I then asked for a glass of white wine which was poured into a glass with lipstick on the rim. I pointed this out and she then poured it into another glass again with lipstick. This happened a third time again a glass with lipstick. She then obtained a clean glass and wanted to pour the same wine into that after it had been recycled 3 times into dirty glasses. I had to insist on her pouring it from a bottle which she eventually did reluctantly. What does it tell you to have 4 dirty glasses in a row.

Positive experience: Played 9 holes earlier this week in an evening, and I have to admit I was slightly apprehensive about the state of the course given recent reviews but was pleasantly surprised in that it was pretty playable. Fairways and rough are in decent shape, bit wet in places but that's after a day of super heavy rain so was to be expected. Greens were slow and a not in the best shape, but certainly not the worst I've played on. If you go here expecting a pay & play course that could do with a bit of love but is playable throughout you won't go far wrong. Decent value for an £11 twilight round, generally not in as good condition as Chingford I've found but course layout is pretty decent. Fingers crossed the owners invest some money into drainage at some point, because it's got the location to be a great course but seems to be pretty unplayable outside of Jun/July - Sept/Oct

simon thornber 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: cheap golf for London. Easy to book. Trees become serious obstacles on this course. However fairways are pretty bad especially how they don't lead to the green meaning you'd never make the green if it rolls.

Dennis Bauszus 1 year ago

Positive experience: I am giving this a 4 star since it is fairly cheap at £12 after 6pm which beats going to a pitch and put for exercise. The maintenance of the greens and fairway is poor but so is my stroke play and putting anyways. I like the hilly views and challenging drives.

Hayden s 1 year ago

Negative experience: Horrible course. It feels like the greens keepers are paid to make the course as bad as possible, or they are non existent. If your ball lands in the rough, you may aswell play it as OB and take a penalty. While putting, rather than reading the slope and pace of the green, you have to account for unrepaired pitch marks and the bobble factor due to weeds. The pace of play is outrageously slow, was stuck behind two carts that took 5hrs to finish. 28 quid green fees are better spent elsewhere.

ryan mcardle 1 year ago

Negative experience: This is actually the worst conditioned course I've ever played. Absolutely abysmal avoid at all costs.

George Love 1 year ago

Negative experience: Shambolic maintenance of this course! The fairways are rough and the rough is a jungle. For £28 it's utterly ridiculous to be playing this. The location of the course is the only redeeming factor.

Hayden Yee 1 year ago

Negative experience: Playing at Trent Park is probably what experiencing a mirage in the desert is like. From afar the course looks nice. Big complex, driving range, pro shop etc. when you get to the course, lovely scenery and interesting hole design. It's only when you get close enough you are fully let down. There is no water in this desert, only poorly maintained fairways, terrible greens, and rough that you could lose a small child in. There is no redeeming quality to this course, and the state of it seems to rub off onto the clientele that actually play here. Pace of play is shambolic, people were running up and down fairways for no apparent reason to and from their trundler, and from observing the greens it must be illegal to repair pitch marks. Honestly this place is a zero out of 5, and at £28 your money would be better spent in the bin. SHAME ON YOU TRENT PARK

Taiki Miki 1 year ago

Negative experience: Genuinely unplayable golf course — probably the most poorly maintained public course in London. In the summer, it’s not bad, but right now, every fairway is overgrown like the rough at Winged Foot. The greens are bumpy — you can tell that they don’t take the pin out when they cut the grass because the grass around the pin are slightly longer. It will generally be quite muddy unless it hasn’t rained for quite a while. The driving range is also expensive relative to other ranges in London. Today, the payment machine was broken, so you could only buy buckets of 25 for £8. If you have the option, Chingford is in much better condition (and cheaper).

Arthur Wellesley 1 year ago

Negative experience: As long as you’re not interested in actually playing any golf then this course is quite pleasant. However, the state of the course is abysmal, and in its current condition has to be one of the worst courses in London. Fairways haven’t been mowed at all and you can lose your ball in the middle of the fairway. Play somewhere else, there are plenty of options that will be more enjoyable.

Kudzai Makopa 1 year ago

Negative experience: Don’t do it. Course is not maintained. Pay the extra £10 and go elsewhere. Or just hit a ball around your local field, it would be better condition. Attached photos were the ‘fairway’

Sahil Dewan 1 year ago

Negative experience: Worst golf course in London. There are literally no fairways and straight drives get lost. Has not been maintained and every employee and the owner are scam artists who should be ashamed at the robbery taking place here. Do not play here.

Michael Caraglia 1 year ago

Negative experience: Unplayable

Tom Waterhouse 1 year ago

Negative experience: I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to after playing this course. I've played here plenty of times before and enjoyed it - but currently it is unplayable. On most holes, there is no discernable fairway on. Even a straight tee shot will be very difficult to find given how long the grass is and how boggy the ground is. Please shut the course until it's in playable condition. There should at least be signs up and notices on the website to give some indication of the really poor condition. Also, similar to what other reviews have said, management were not giving refunds (despite the fact I abandoned my round)

Andy Benson 1 year ago

Negative experience: Get some new balls for God's sake! About a fifth are unusable and this is an expensive driving range.

David Tait 1 year ago

Negative experience: Do not play at this course, IT IS UNPLAYABLE!! As for the club it self, how can you allow people to book for 18 holes and only when they arrive they find out they cant play. And when you ask about a refund " sorry we cant do that". Absolute dishonesty. Steer clear and go and play at a better course.

Matthew Thomson 1 year ago

Negative experience: Horrendous golfing experience, the fairways looked like they hadn't been mowed in weeks, to the point that any ball landing on the fairway (or anywhere, for that matter) is practically lost. Grass 6-8 inches deep in some places - never seen anything like it before. Management need to up their game in terms of course maintenance, as the course itself has potential.

James Thomas 1 year ago

Negative experience: Dont waste your time! Extremely let down, gollf day ruined. Greens were shocking, fairways were unplayable and balls instantly lost. Looks like the greenkeepers haven't turned up in weeks. Won't be coming back!

Craig T 1 year ago

Positive experience: Giving the stars due to helpful and friendliness of the staff. Really, right now, the course should be closed. I went and was told its "boggy" and to play and then come back and pay if I finish. Played the first, par 3, and I drove to just short of the green. Omg, every step was a squelch, even on the green. Anyway, I chipped up and 2 putt so scored a 4. Moved on to the 2nd, I think, as the holes aren't numbered. Par 4. I drove off short and in the heavy rough as I didn't reach the fairway. Lost ball, as the grass was ankle deep and I gave up looking. Played a dropped ball then hit it to where the fairway should be, not really realising until I'd hit it, no fairway. That's right, ankle deep boggy grass the whole way up until the green. At this point I gave up and went back. I asked, are there no fairways? No, was the reply. They haven't cut the grass yet. CLOSE THE COURSE, reopen when it's playable and ill come back and try again.

Peter Ford 1 year ago

Negative experience: Wow, what an utter disgrace. They should not call this place a golf course...a sinking swamp would be a better description. Beware, there are no fairways... every single shot lands in very long grass. Almost ever shot I lost a ball due to severe plugging. it is so bad the ball would just vanish into the ground. When you stand to take a shot you are actually sinking down. Bring with you a compass, a pair of wellies, a shovel and a broom.

John Ford 1 year ago

Negative experience: To call this a golf course is a real stretch of the imagination. The course has not seen a mower in months. 8 inches of thick grass around the greens. I say greens. My back yard has better grass..you have been warned.

Nazole Okemakinde 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I came over with my work colleagues and our tables were well presented, deco was lovely. We started with lovely drinks, amazing starters and fabulous main. The meat was so well seasoned… the background music gave us the correct vibe to relax. We are having so much fun and are so impressed with the service that we are already planning our return. Trent park is ideal for reunions, parties, offices get together.

Negative experience: Worst course conditions I've ever seen! £28 is ridiculous for the state of it

Steven Champion 1 year ago

Negative experience: Clearly being run into the ground so the land can be sold off. Looks abandoned. Used to be alright, but those days are long gone. Sad to say this place is best avoided.

Michael Smith 2 years ago

Negative experience: Sad reflection of its former self. Owners have let it go to the dogs

Alexander Trollope 2 years ago

Positive experience: Enjoyed the round of golf here but the playing conditions could be much improved. Greens were boggy, despite 30 degrees heat the past week, and to echo what others have said, it's possible to lose balls on the fairway let alone in the rough.

Will McAuley 2 years ago

Negative experience: Between the course condition being generally pretty terrible (long grass on fairways, scruffy greens, deep rough as a 'first cut' making losing balls from good shots incredibly common, photos below are from a 'fairway' on 11th May this year), not being allowed to book as a single online, my golf coach's company leaving the driving range, and the range's ball machine not being turned on regularly, I'm probably never going to come back here, which is a shame as the place has great potential and is so convenient. Looking at photos of the course and range from years ago it looks like a great facility, and it's clearly been let go over the past few years.

Negative experience: THIS GOLF CLUB STOLE MY MONEY - They refused to return my £40 back on my driving range card despite countless times emailing, phoning at the start of lockdown. The Golf shop say they cant help, give me the number of someone in the golf club accounts who never returns my calls. In the end, a golf pro at the club sympathised but told me the club decided not to offer refunds but credit on their new card system which got installed during lockdown. I moved away from London during lockdown and left emails and voice messages explaining this but nobody but 1 golf shop pro got back to me saying it was out of their control to sort out.

Trent Park Golf Club
Trent Park Golf Club

I’m sorry if no one was able to satisfactorily explain the position to you. When a customer loads £40 credit on their range card they enjoy a discount off the normal price of a bucket of balls when they redeem this credit for range balls and this credit on their range card is sold to them on a non refundable basis. In other words it must be redeemed as range balls only and balances cannot be refunded if people change their minds or move away from London etc as you have done. We are not a savings bank after all. You still have your range ball credit and can use it if you ever wish to visit again. I understand this may be frustrating for you but lots of companies have policies like this as you must know. Your money has therefore not been stolen by us in any way and any suggestion that it has been is refuted and potentially slanderous.

Glad you enjoyed. Yes it has improved over the summer as the weather improved. It was so wet in March and April that we ha d problems cutting the grass as the machinery could not get on the course. We try to offer a reasonable standard of golf at an outstanding price and we appreciate your comment

Harry Rees 2 years ago

Negative experience: Writing this is a real shame. Arguably the coolest golf course design in terms of layout I've played in London, there's so many interesting holes that really make you think and work the ball off the tee. However, the course conditions are an absolute shambles (worst I've ever seen by a mile) and it completely ruins the experience. Losing balls in the fairway is inexcusable any time of year, but especially in the summer. Rumour has it they have barely any greenkeepers which makes sense. I really hope someone puts some thought and money into getting this course back on its feet as it COULD be fantastic. But right now, despite the cheap price I would not recommend anyone turns up. I have less sympathy for the driving range however which is just a complete embarrassment. They may as well advertise it as 'bring your own balls' as on 3 out of my last 4 visits the ball machine has been broken. This would be awful if the visits were clumped together... the fact the visits were spread out across 9 months is outrageous and just shows how common of an occurrence this is likely to be. Not to mention the mats are generally in pretty bad conditions and the balls are seemingly never cleaned. Turning up here after a 25 minute tube journey is usually a disappointment even IF the ball machine is working. Trent Park if you read this (and the numerous other 1* reviews left) please pay attention to your golf course and give some motivated people the resources they need to restore and maintain it. You're sitting on what could be one of the best courses in London and it's rotting like a corpse.

Matt 2 years ago

Negative experience: The course has so much potential but the upkeep is appalling. The rough is so poorly maintained it destroys your enjoyment of the round. Any ball that rolls into the rough cannot be found unless you walk over the top of it. The greens are average at best.

Jeremy Wilson 2 years ago

Negative experience: We’ve been coming to Trent Park for ~3 years but the quality of track keeps getting worse and worse, so our days are likely numbered. Grass was not cut for a number of days so lost countless balls in the fairway / general state of tee boxes poor. It’s a massive shame given its proximity to north London and its potential.

Stephen Gregg 2 years ago

Negative experience: Not great. Course has declined massively since playing last summer. Rough needs to be cut. Will be avoiding

Neil Stephens 2 years ago

Negative experience: Have played this course on and off for over 20 years. Played it today and it was in terrible condition - probably the worst of the 100s of courses I've played. Greens long and scruffy, 4 inch long grass on tees, loads of grass cuttings everywhere for balls to get lost in or under, no first cut of rough so balls being lost just 3ft off fairway. Round was cheap but my advice would be pay more and go somewhere else. Photos show fairway and a tee box.

Les Berry 2 years ago

Negative experience: It's a lovely setting. However the golf course is far from lovely. Played about 5 weeks ago and it was clear that very limited work had been possible following the wet March. However, 5 weeks later and the situation has barely changed. Greens were generally OK (but all need trimming). Fairways ok. But the rough is appalling. Even if your ball lands a short distance off the fairway there is a good chance of a lost ball. Apparently there are only two groundsmen (we are told 5 is a bare minimum for an 18 hole course). The management should be ashamed that they have allowed the course to get into such a state and they are continuing to charge to play on this excuse for a course. Shame on you. Get your finger out, invest more and get this course back on track.

Semper 2 years ago

Negative experience: Waste of time. Nothing has been mowed, buggies were not allowed on the course despite being bone dry, tees with long grass on them. Better pay a bit more and have a proper course to play on. Not even worth the cheap rate.

Steven Dawson 2 years ago

Negative experience: The coaching staff are friendly and I’ve had some good lessons. I’m giving 2 stars for the set up of the driving range. Today is the third time I’ve been when they have run out of balls in the machine so another wasted trip. There are very few distance markers, which are essential if you want to know your club distance. The cost is the same as the A1 practice range but the A1 range has computer aids and distance markers. I do not understand why, at minimal cost, they can’t at least have adequate range distance markers here.

Jack Barker 2 years ago

Negative experience: Fairways water logged and rough far too long. Grass clippings for fairway/ light rough not picked up so difficult to find the ball a lot of the time. Not worth the green fee, better courses around.

Mark Cruise 2 years ago

Negative experience: The course was saturated, and about half the fairways were unplayable as the grass hadn't been cut. It was basically all rough and impossible to find your ball even if you drove it dead straight. It looks like it might be a v nice course when properly maintained, but really they should just close it in the winter and spring.

Regan Lyden 2 years ago

Negative experience: Don't even bother playing if it's been raining. Everything is water logged, grass on the fairways is not cut. You will have to search for your ball after every shot. Just go somewhere else until we get good weather and the course dries out.

Marc Citron 2 years ago

Negative experience: Nice course, but today the ground was very wet and compounded with the fact that fairways were not mowed with 3 inch high grass made for many lost balls and difficulty playing a fairway shot out of what was essentially the rough. Gave up after 3 holes and got a credit.

Jack B 2 years ago

Negative experience: Despite being cheap the condition of the fairways is unacceptable. Grass on the fairways has not been cut and would be considered long rough, means you’re loosing balls on the fairway regularly and play is constantly slowed down by every group looking for balls. Would have thought it was just due to the rain but they’ve been this way for over a year. A bit of effort in maintenance would make this course enjoyable, but otherwise would never come back

Freddy Gardner 2 years ago

Negative experience: This used to be a good course but now it is so poorly maintained I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I lost about 5 balls in the middle of the fairway - terrible experience

J Ch 2 years ago

Negative experience: Driving range is too run down and not maintained at all. Golf balls are not washed, dirty, driving mats are nearly all torn up, ripped bald patches. Safety net between bays flapping in the wind, no lighting on stairs. The range needs re-turfing and distance marked out properly. Some golf balls are cracked. It's becoming too expensive for a rundown golf range and disappointing where other facilities like football, crazy golf, golf shop are pretty well maintained. I now rather drive further out to go to a nicer range like A1 or metro.

James Wood 2 years ago

Negative experience: The driving range is tired and neglected, the heaters don't work, the mats are old and worn out, in some cases ripped and the ball machine doesn't always work, (vouchers and loyalty cards are pointless) and the balls are not cleaned. Nobody on site seems to care or be able to assist. Save your money and go to A1 or Waltham Cross ranges which are much nicer.

Axel Moore 2 years ago

Positive experience: Great price for golf if you don’t mind walking 18 holes. It is very walkable though. The greens were recently punched so not the best putting surface. Also, the grass trimmings were not picked up following mowing so it is surprisingly easy to loose a ball light rough.

Simon Swift 2 years ago

Negative experience: Honestly you might as well play in a field or a park, there's no fairway . But it's a public course so you can't expect much really.

Mark Greenhalgh 3 years ago

Negative experience: The course is not in great condition and clearly doesn’t drain well. Despite at least three weeks of no rain the fairway were waterlogged. The grass on fairways has not been cut for some time, probably because it is so wet; consequently several balls were lost during the round which were plum in the middle of the fairway. Everything plugged, you’d have to almost stand on the ball to find it. It could be so much better because it does have some interesting hole.

Anjum Bashir 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very good golf course with much improved facilities

Douglas Murch 3 years ago

Negative experience: Terrible condition, would avoid in the winter months. The grass is incredibly long so you’ll easily lose your ball on the fairway or what should be the first cut. Negative experience: We went here for our Christmas do and what a disappointment. We'd been here 2 years ago for Christmas and it was fantastic: 3 course meal, great music and good service. But unfortunately this year, it was the complete opposite. Instead of 3 courses, platters of food was served but the food was terrible. Type of food you get in Iceland (finger food) which I don't expect for £50 a head. Drinks were free until 9.30pm which was a plus although the wine wasn't great. Everyone was packed in one half whilst the other half remained unused. 20 tables of 8 so very cramped. No dance floor as such and as a result people either danced by their table or at the front by the DJ so everyone was on top of eachother. Staff were okay, not much of a service as such. Platters were put on the table and that was it. We had to get our own drinks at the bar. Music was okay; different variety for different tastes but very loud so you couldn't really talk if you didn't want to dance. So to conclude we won't be going back sadly.

Diamante Mama 3 years ago

Positive experience: The venue itself is really beautiful, nicely decorated. Great space, inside and out. Has a massive marquee. I have been on a few occasions for different events, and each time a different space has been used. The only thing I would say that let's it down are the bar staff. They never have enough staff for the crowd. Then they really take their time serving, one lady was literally in slow motion, everything she did was sooooo ridiculously delayed, even opening a carton of juice took her over a minute! Then she kept stopping and chatting with her colleague. I spent an nearly an hour in total just to get some soft drinks to go with the bottles we had previously brought, waited 45 mins to get served! Then she even took long to come back and get the payment As much as I appreciate it's not their direct fault if they are understaffed & under pressure, I feel they could make more of an effort to try to go a little bit quicker knowing they have queues of customers, & maybe be a bit more friendlier, I don't think I even got a smile. I am always polite & try to make the effort to be understanding of others situation. The food is tasty, and it came fresh and hot. Toilets are clean and always have toilet roll...which is a big plus ➕

Positive experience: Nice course visually but poor Greens and fairways.

Negative experience: Very bad customer service. They are so busy, that they cannot say happy birthday to my daughter. But when I started complaining, they had 30 minutes to discuss about it! But I give 5 stars for the facility.

Positive experience: Never played trent park in the summer season and I left having had a great time. Yeah the greens could have been better, the tees should have been cut blah blah but for £17 a round there is nothing to complain about. For that price the course is in perfect condition. Some really interesting holes surrounded by beautiful mature trees. Definitely coming back soon!

Positive experience: Good test of golf , hilly , undulating and playing it from the back of the yellows long , Well kept and looked after , for £17 a round , can't be beaten. The one small thing was the greens , even though in good condition , they bobbled a lot and hard to compensate for but that said a terrific course for the money ,

Positive experience: Went for the Crazy Golf, nice activity out in the sun, shame the waterfall wasn't working.

Positive experience: Fun crazy golf experience, some of the holes were a bit too easy and very over priced at £15 per person but a nice way to spend an hour in the sun

Positive experience: Had a really good time with my son. The only reason I'm not going 5 star is that the country club was hired out so playing inappropriate music in front of my 12 year old

Positive experience: Great Value for money but what let it down was the length of the first cut off the fairway. I lost three balls just off the fairway and found two other unlucky people's balls in a similar position. If they can cut the first cut properly, it would have been five stars. It's not fair to penalise and lose balls just off the fairway. This isn't the US open. Other than that, satisfied!

Thanks Robert. Cart hire is £30. If you were charged £35 please advise date and time and we will take up with the member of staff

Negative experience: Course in poor condition. Grass on second cut far to long as you have to hunt for every ball that rolls off the fairway as though it was the long rough

G J 4 years ago

Positive experience: The fairways and first cut of rough are too long, I lost several balls on the fairway that were probably just hidden under clumps of grass. If the fairways were better this would be a 5* course for the price.
