Rothwell Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: The leisure centre itself is great but the road network surrounding it is not for for purpose. I have just spent 40 minutes queueing for the roundabout from 17.10 to 17.50. My son only had the last 10 minutes of his swimming lesson which started at 17.30. Leeds city council really needs to address this problem
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. Pool super Nice to go back after a long time
Positive experience: Good gym apart from the annoying music.
Fantastic experience: The new refurbished gym ️♂️ is excellent, very interactive, and improves motivation.
Fantastic experience: Great swim, lovely staff.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant centre. Has everything
Fantastic experience: Excellent Gym and lovely newly refined Swimming Pool. Staff are polite, friendly and supportive…. what’s not to like. A feel good place. ♂️♀️
Negative experience: A decent pool, bit too hot upstairs, toilets are very dirty, I had a group off little kids peaking into my stall when I had no clothes on and they stole my shoe, tell you if assault was legal I would have come out and battered them. But the worst part about this place is the pool decks. They are so dirty, overall look like you could get hepatitis from stepping on top of the Drains to keep water in, and we had the fire alarm go off halfway during regular swimming.
Negative experience: Shocking place
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, fast service, cleanliness.
Fantastic experience: I visit here twice a week as I have a couple of properties I take care of near Garforth. Facilities are clean and plentiful. Swimming baths are spot on and never been closed due to malfunction. Mostly the staff are informative and courteous
Fantastic experience: Gret place really helpful staff
Negative experience: The pool is so cold you get out and lips are blue… this has been mentioned to staff there and nothing gets done about it… there’s hardly any times you can go for a leisurely swim as it’s mainly swimming lessons.. or lane swim complete waste of money
Fantastic experience: Great slot meeting place
Positive experience: It's quite a while since I've been in actually. We used to play Badminton on a Tuesday evening and was then told Roller Disco or something would take place, so we couldn't have a court anymore. We had to take our business elsewhere. I just use the bottle banks in the car park now for my recycling. They are much better now you don't have to separate your colours and deal with any tops separately. Recycletastic!
Fantastic experience: Always good to swim
Fantastic experience: Great place to play badminton. Very Spacious.
Fantastic experience: Had my daughters 10th birthday party at Rothwell swimming pool, and the guy who looked after me from start to finish was extremely helpful! He made the whole party worth it, he helped set up the room ensuring that we had everything we needed, and was polite about it. He was helpful through out the whole party he made it really easy. Thanks ☺️ Vid ! Honestly I would recommend this for kids, the float was great and I (mum) got in the pool to help the kids. Did a little swim test or not if the kids didn’t want to see how well they swam to ensure their safety. Plenty of staff watching aswell make sure they are ok, Vid was great tho thank you.
Positive experience: not bad, seems to be busy even outside of peak times & a decent section of the gym is closed for classes quite often which can be annoying
Positive experience: I was in the Gym, Great customer Service, Need to have more information about the place in Desk.
Positive experience: Went for a swim. Pleasant enough experience. Thank you.
Negative experience: Disappointed in tonight's circuit session warm up was shorter than what I would hope and instructions not explained clearly enough still a good workout tho.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant aqua aerobics on a Monday morning and great gym
Positive experience: Always thought it could be a bit better great location though
Fantastic experience: Lovely clean swimming pool
Negative experience: I had swimming lessons here when I was at school in the 90s and it hasn’t changed at all since then! Really needs updating and it just feels dirty now and old. The floors were dirty when I went so it isn’t cleaned enough. Also the pool is not big enough and you end up knocking into the people either side of you with your legs and arms as there isn’t enough space. Wakefield council swimming pools are much more modern and cleaner!
Positive experience: 70s dream, changing rooms are grim with rotted ceiling panels. Has seen a bit of paint in recent years. It does its job.
Positive experience: Needs hack squat machine
Fantastic experience: Reception staff lovely, Andy in the gym polite, professional and informative
Positive experience: Very nice and welcoming baths
Fantastic experience: Good to be back after 2 Years out of the gym
Fantastic experience: Brilliant sports centre staff amazing Aqua on a monday especially good and the gym xx
Positive experience: Lovely staff, as clean as you'd expect despite being told not to wear outdoor shoes in changing room people clearly do. The pool, showers and changing rooms were all extremely cold.
Positive experience: Good swim
Positive experience: Decent leisure center apart from the total drip of a fun police lifeguard that walks in his sliders around the edge of the pool like he's actually got some sort of authority. Wears the float on his back like some sort of military bandolier. He's chubby, wears glasses and takes his minimum wage job far too seriously. Verging on mildly intimidating.
Negative experience: Needs an update especially the pool very run down scum round the large pool.( from the outside it looks good until you get in the water ) Toilets not clean and showers dirty. Nice staff
Fantastic experience: Great classes and fantastic teachers in the class
Fantastic experience: Welcoming staff, well organised swim.
Fantastic experience: I'm have a Leeds active card and visit the leasure centre 5 times a week. Always a warm welcome from the Reception team, really well organised with Covid restrictions. Gym has opened more equipment which is an improvement but I love the prebook lane swimming. Makes a great start to the day.
Fantastic experience: Nice leisure centre. I’ve only used the gym so far. A good variety of equipment and not too crowded.
Fantastic experience: Good parking, large baths and good gym. Friendly staff and clean changing rooms and facilities.
Fantastic experience: Felt very clean and safe. Great to have gyms open again.
Fantastic experience: Great to be back well after a year +, well organised & friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Another great session, friendly staff and very covid safe
Fantastic experience: Love this building. Learned to swim here 30 years ago and still swim here as much as possible. Lovely friendly staff also. We give it 5 stars.
Positive experience: Classes and public swimming have recommenced. The car park has been modernised and now includes electrical charging points. At times it can be quite difficult to leave the car park and turn right, as the road can be very busy. Swimming, gym, sports rooms and fields are usually available here. Some Covid restrictions are still in place until the summer. A cafe would be a welcome addition.
Fantastic experience: Back to it again. Nice to get the gyms open again. All machines cleaned regularly. All good.
Positive experience: Is okay for swimming but there's noot enough time for going as family and even when it is family/kids time half the pool is full of people doing laps.
Fantastic experience: Great instructors and great classes
Fantastic experience: Good distancing measures in place. Very clean. Helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Negative experience: The pool is always freezing changing rooms good but shower not great.
Negative experience: It's cheap... However, the front desk staff are incompetent to the highest order. When you walk in, there is generally two people sitting at the desk who both do their upmost to try and avoid eye contact and actually serving you. When they do serve you, it's like a chore for them. Other than that, the gym equipment is ok, the changing rooms need a serious visit from Kim and Aggie, the smell of wee is sometimes too much. The whole place could do with a good scrub and revamp to be fair.
Negative experience: Staff friendly and helpfull but the place is very run down and dirty. Changing rooms in badley need of a revamp, hair dryer (1) good if you are 7ft tall. Awfull smell in changing rooms. Tiles in the pool are grimmy to the touch. The place needs a good makeover.
Positive experience: 02/02/22 - before the pandemic I was swimming three times a week on an evening - now I'm lucky to get two swims in. The Lane Swim times are too late, not everyone can come and go in their swimming trunks. You either need to alter all Lane swim times to allow time for getting changed or stay open later. Changing rooms could do with a refit and you need to have a chatter's lane by the edge of the pool on lane swims as these dim bints just get in every buggers way. I'll also add of 14/11/21 - evening lane swims are too late most nights through the week. Not everybody can come down 'beach ready', some of us actuakky have to drive and so therefore need to dry and change.
Negative experience: Website is absolute garbage and has been for a long time.If you want to find out what's on,use a crystal ball.
Positive experience: It really needs the whole place refurbishing , large gym with lots of strength and cardio equipment but all this needs updating
Negative experience: Car park not lit very well on a night due to two thirds of the lights being turned off. My Wife tripped and fell over an unlit kerb damaging her face, wrist, hand & knee. I wonder if anyone else has suffered due to these cost cutting exercises? Also it is not good for security of you or your car in this dark car park.
Negative experience: Got told wrong times of swimming session. Then told to get out ten minutes before end of said session cos the lifeguards using different clock to the one on the wall. 50 mins swimming time in the end. Total and utter rip off. Kids wanting to stay longer but no chance. Why such short sessions these days??? And grumpy staff no help. At least 5 of them hanging round reception area talking as we were leaving. Council get your act together!! !!!!!!'''':@
Negative experience: Our daughter has been coming here for swimming lessons for 2 years and barely progressed no consistency with the lessons not good communication and no consistency with the teachers how can u build confidence in children when every week it's someone different waste of money and my time bringing her to these lessons
Fantastic experience: Clean and very well priced
Negative experience: Called 4 times this morning for general lane adult swim as the site isn't very well done and no answer, always to voicemail. Every time I call this place no one is ever in hand to answer and when you go in there rude! Do you just hire anyone if anyone for that matter. South Leeds it is for us from now on.
Negative experience: Swimming pool changing area not good if you have a small child to get ready it certainly needs vast improvement especially the male side the small pool rather cool for a 6 month and 2 year old. Various other pools in Leeds much better why not Rothwell will be visiting other pools in future unless improvement are made why are Rothwell residents left out?final point when ringing the switch board no one answered but when we arrived two people at desk why not answering the phone!
Positive experience: Dated but ok.
Positive experience: Clean changing rooms and nice pool
Fantastic experience: Large gym with plenty of modern equipment both machines and loose weights. Free wifi.
Positive experience: Facilities are alright, somewhat cheap. Booked one badminton court for ~£6 for an hour.
