Fantastic experience: I recently went back to Harborne Pool & Fitness Centre after a year at another gym (I shall not name any names), and I was really impressed with the changes they've made. The gym has been totally revamped, and they've added new cardio and weight machines, making the place feel more spacious and modern. The gym is clean, which is always a plus, and I usually go in the mornings when it's not too crowded. This way, I can use the treadmill or elliptical without waiting, which is really convenient for my routine. One of the best things about this gym is how close it is to my house. It's so easy to fit it into my daily schedule. I've seen some reviews say that the gym is too expensive and that they wish it solely had a gym membership option, but I think Harborne Pool & Fitness Centre is really a swimming pool with gym facilities, and that fits with their pricing. What really makes this place special is the sense of community. It's not just a gym; it's a welcoming place where people come together to stay healthy. The atmosphere is really friendly and relaxed, almost like a big family. It's a nice change from many gyms I've been to. The receptionists really set the tone for this warm and welcoming place. Whenever I leave, they give me a friendly smile and a cheerful goodbye. It's those small things that make you feel valued and like you're part of the community. Their genuine warmth makes each visit end on a positive note, and I always look forward to coming back.

Positive experience: Good gym but should have some newer and more machines because 7 is not enough they should add a machine like a chest fly machine for example. But for the gym they need to atleast extend its opening time, 9pm on a weekday is too little and it should be extended by 2 or more hours and 5pm on a weekend is too early especially for someone who is busy and can't go that early. so the gym should increase the opening times by a few more hours.

Fantastic experience: I like Harborne Pool because it's comfortable clean and close to my home.

Negative experience: The yoga class with Hubert is marvellous. The gym leaves something to be desired. The machines are new, but they should have more than one of the most popular machines (leg press, smith, extension chair). There are no calf machines, which makes the leg press even more popular. They also don't have repeated dumbbells for the most commonly used ones. The only time I've identified as being possible to train without having to wait too long for the machines and disrupting the whole workout is 6.30am and then 11am. The other times are very busy and having to wait cools the body down and puts a stop to the workout.

Positive experience: Great place , parking is terrible and it doesn't help with silly people who park on places there not spost to and makes ot very difficult for others to get out of space and or get into them.

Fantastic experience: Group swimming lessons are fantastic here for our daughter from 4-6yrs in the kids pool. Keiran and Alex are both really good instructors. Keiran has been brilliant and a credit to the instructor team. He's coached and encouraged my daughter(NK) throughout giving tips and advice, motivation where needed. They are both very personable for all the kids. Direct with them when necessary. It's a good place, parking can be difficult but if your organised not so much of an issue.

Fantastic experience: Warm welcome by reception and General Manager. Amazing pool, gym, and classes. Extremely clean and lovely members.

Positive experience: Is nice inside, but the system for the parking is just disappointing.Is always full and also the system to checkin is slow is taking a bit.Also toilets are dirty and no toilet paper.

Negative experience: I was constantly grabbed by my swimming instructor because I was afraid of deep water.

Negative experience: Our child has swimming lessons on a Saturday. Every single week the swimming teacher is late. We pay for a 30min lesson and get a 20min lesson

Positive experience: Small but reasonably well equipped gym that gets very busy in the afternoon but is quite manageable first thing in the morning. Nice swimming pool and pleasant staff. They need to sort out the check in system which is slow and frequently malfunctions. Lately staff have been late to open the building in the morning which is frustrating for people who have a tight schedule e.g. with getting to work. Overall adequate with the potential to be good.

Positive experience: All clean Big minus for me, no hairdryers in changing room. There are dryers in separate room after you leaving changing rooms and they like hand dryers, without tube, where you bend over and then stand on a bridge to dry your wet hair. Styling is impossible here. Ladies changing and shower are on one space with mens. Also what don’t like there’s no training kickboards in pool, so for trainee some elements you need to buy yours, and bring it all the time with you (with hairdryer ) what is uncomfortable. In other pools it’s just in free access. Gym is not big. Not too much machines for the upper muscle group, dumbbells instead. + is that you can book gym and pool for 6-8£ before you will buy membership. Thanks for cleaning

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the gym and swimming pool for years. I enjoy going in and always welcomed with a smile, I enjoy talking to staff and members. Love the smiles in the gym and now my son comes with me and loves it because he feels confident in the gym.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love the aqua fit sessions and the swimming facilities. Instructors are very good, in fact excellent. All different styles of delivery but the work out is fierce! Aqua zumba is also great. Wish there were aqua fit sessions at the weekends as well. Great value and lovely reception and fitness staff.

Negative experience: It has rly bad access for under 16 as u can only go select times me and 6 of my friends stopped going there due to just this and now we now go northfield gym as it’s open all day for under 16. Even though I prefer harbornes equipment I think they need to make the times more adjustable as they would get more people

Positive experience: I only go to establishment to latch my phone to the WiFi

Negative experience: Boasts of its amenities but very bad behaved reception staff members, does not respond to requests quickly. Kept charging me every month even after I requested for cancellation. One of swimming teachers shouted inappropriate words to my 5 year old kid. In total, not a friendly place.

Positive experience: I’ve been going to Harborne Pool since it was the ‘old’ pool and the ‘new’ pool. I have to say that the new centre is beautiful. Always clean, friendly staff. Sue on reception is lovely and the other reception staff. Never had any issues. The company who run the memberships are a pain to deal with they are called Harlands so beware if you get a membership. The only things I would criticise and for not giving a five star review would be; 1. The lack of normal swim time. I don’t want to swim in a queue at lane swimming. There aren’t many slots for adults free swim. 2. Nora who does the aqua fit classes has no empathy. She shouts at people. Singles people out and tells you to kick or hit other people. Plus does not do the exercises with you. Just sits and drinks her smoothie!! These are the only faults I find otherwise I’m happy with the centre and will continue to use.

Negative experience: Bad place, they don't found parking spaces need to oark outside BUT no parking space available outside....so... see people parking and go to shopping....need to remove my kids from this place, manager lady on 08.07.23 speak inappropriate words... Because I told her is not ok... she put some one to remove until I waited my kids to finish swimming lesson... is crazy... bad place bad people...

Positive experience: The swiming baths are relatively clean. i like the celing windows makes the room bright and uplifting. i gotta say that changing rooms can be a little rank sometimes but thats the peoples fault... dont shave your bits in the changing stalls and dont pee on the floor. So wear flip flops just incase.

Negative experience: It’s terrible for under 16’s.Your only allowed between 4-5pm or 5-6pm and there can only be 10 people per session. The gym is small, always busy and overpriced. They don’t have a lot of equipment which limits your exercise. Wouldn’t recommend this gym (I only went because it was close)because I missed many sessions.

Positive experience: The only problem is the smell in the dressing room.

Negative experience: Not happy with this place, after being recommended by a friend I decided to apply for my son to have swimming lessons, before agreeing I explained my son is AUTISTIC and non verbal he will need help they said that shouldn’t be a problem, the 1st time attended the lady tried really hard to engage with my child hence the me putting any starts in this review, however from the second lesson onwards was a nightmare, there was only one Instructor meaning my son could not go into the pool because there was no assisting teacher, then the 3rd time a very nice lady suggested I go into the pool with him which I did but that’s didn’t work either, so I cancelled my membership but I still have 1 months and a week left so i called and asked If if could I go with my baby instead to baby classes so I don’t waste my money but I was told to speak with the manager and he wasn’t available so I emailed instead, a week later no reply I called again and he said I could but there is only one available slot which classes with picking up my son from school and I felt like he didn’t even care anyway about my situation, no consideration what so ever, I will be telling my friends who go there how bad I was treated

Negative experience: Pre-booked lifeguard course only to find out on the day (29th May 2023) it had been cancelled. Had no notification the course was not running & is still being advertised on the 4th of May on Facebook. Can't even get a refund until it has gone to head office for processing. Completely disgusted with the incomptence and lack of communication. If there was an option for -5 stars they would have it.

Negative experience: Dissapointing customer service with a poor interest in helping or supporting any need or request. Although the teachers are good, this is completely ruined with their lack of empathy and listening capacity.

Negative experience: They don’t care if no space for your kids in swimming lesson , They have one answer we will charge you until we have space !!!!!

Fantastic experience: I'm loving coming here. Other users of facilities and instructors are so friendly. Class quality is great. Changing rooms are cleaned regularly. I'm recovering from major surgery and this place has been such a joy to me in difficult times. :)

Fantastic experience: Very clean pool and place, timing agenda well-organized, not crowded, good size of lockers and changing kiosks, friendly staff and safeguards, not overly warm pool water temperature, nice warm showers for afterwards. We had a nice family time just before Sunday lunch. We're really thinking about becoming members. Recommended!

Positive experience: Timings for gym are constrained till 9 pm and till 5pm on weekend causing to miss most of weekends..otherwise facilities are good..

Positive experience: Take my little one swimming classes here . The facilities are clean and staff are welcoming which is rare to find with gym receptionist. Parking however is shambolic. Although you can advise on street parking it doesn’t seem practical with a baby after swimming ! If this is seen to then no complaints

Fantastic experience: I love this gym so much. I always dread going to the gym but as soon as I step foot I’m greeted with a smile and it instantly pumps me up for a good session. I started here last summer and then stopped ( nothing to do with the gym I just had education in the way) but I’m now back full time in the new year and I’ve been building my confidence and it’s so reassuring to have friendly staff there on hand if you need them. There’s also a all round nice environment non judgmental people in the gym I never feel insecure and in fact have been boosted with confidence by other members multiple times. The facilities are always clean and the lockers have a good amount of space. They do offer classes throughout the day as well as swimming in the memberships however I never opt for those personally. All round a great experience every time and recommend this place to everyone whose thinking about joining a gym.

Negative experience: Very humiliated leisure centre, they are stealing money from my account and saying that is the policy, they don t care if you complain and are not responsible on the problems they are causing to their customer. They want just to take money from you to use your money and charge with stupid fees if you don t pay on time. They are so mean and so evil staff especially their manager who doesn't t care to communicate and understand . Their understanding is 00000. Very very bed leisure place

Negative experience: General manager that allowed parking a skip in the middle of the car park when it could have been put in the coach area corner needs firing or a disciplinary. Surely lots of general managers are looking for work out there but have common sense.

Fantastic experience: I want to say a big thank you. As a Ukrainian , I was given a free subscription for three months. I am very grateful. Thanks for your generosity. The staff here is very pleasant. Conditions are wonderful. The gym is always clean and fresh air. A very large selection of trainers. There is a shower, lockers that close, fresh cool drinking water.

Negative experience: Swimming pool is cold and I mean very cold. Can not be anywhere near the recommended temperature that a public pool should be. Not good at all

Positive experience: The swimming is nice and good, but the gym is absolutely terrible. Not enough equipment. Only one lat pull down machine. There’s at times a queue, and I’m not even going at peak times. Gym also closes before 9. Small gym. I had a monthly membership for both, so it isn’t worth it for the money. The girl that works there took a picture of a member too and was laughing. Should have help him as your a trainer. I could’ve helped him but felt awkward after realising that. I didn’t remove a star for it as it’s not the gym fault but the staff

Negative experience: Extremely bad customer service, with no willingness to listen and help. Supervisor just doesn't care. Front desk staff hang up calls with no interest in helping customers. I'm just tired of this service.

Negative experience: Small, overpriced gym with incompetent staff and no facilities

Negative experience: Nice swimming pool however the changing rooms are mixed which can be very uncomfortable, no mirrors not a great place to get ready after a workout. Only about ten parking spaces for the whole site

Negative experience: They are not at all professional, my daughter has been there for more than a year, she is still at the same level, because she told me at the reception that they do not have a place on level 3, I do not understand how they can work like that

Negative experience: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST ! We had cancelled our son's swimming lesson because the instructor kept ignoring him and my husband during lessons, but that's not all. When we cancelled we were also waiting for a refund for one of the lessons however it's been over 2 months and still no refund. Called today after I was assured by the manager that I would receive my refund by now however when I called today trying to chase it up the lady at reception ( Sue) cut me off in the middle of me speaking, borderline shouting that I was going to receive it in 1 to 2 months without even letting mw finish to say that I already waited that long. Unimaginably rude staff and completely unprofessional. You would be better off signing elsewhere as these people simply don't care about customers or how they treat them !

Negative experience: bad experience I will not advise parents to waste their time and take their children to this pool because they are not going to learn anything, waste of time my two daughters have been there for three years one of them is still at level 1 since she was three years old and the other at level 2 but they gave him level 3 but there is no gap. Waste of time and money. and when we talk to the person in charge, they told us that she is going to call us and give the girls another level but no, and she has not called, unprofessional to be the person in charge. I do not recommend it. and another thing, they bring in new people while the children who have been there for a while don't have a place, they don't have a place, it's rediculous

Fantastic experience: We used.it while we were living near by but .we have moved out of the area .But we highly recommend to use this facility .

Positive experience: Went for a aquafit class and it was very refreshing and all the people in the pool doing aquafit were very helpful and friendly.

Positive experience: The studio pool was really good for the little one as the water temperature was appropriate. However, I find the temperature become lower and lower. The changing room is a little too cold as always.

Negative experience: Not very good any more actually, booked fun swim main pool but there were two private swimming lessons on and instructors were giving dirty looks out to anyone who got in there way and kind of rude receptionist.... big difference to last years service we received. Negative experience: First time coming here and wouldn't again, brought my niece to her swimming lesson Parking is beyond a joke ... for the size of the centre there is no where near enough spaces You can't park on any of the side roads drove around for over 20 minutes and she was then late had no choice to partk in the motorcycle bay which I was then told to move which I understand but I'm not sure what else you can do when you leave with enough time for the lesson but due to the ridiculous lack of spaces your left with no choice .. they really need to sort this out cause it would put me off using this centre

Negative experience: Unannounced fire drill at 4h30pm on 30/01/2022 kicked out every last soul 30min before closing time. A joke, without even an apology! Email, the app SMS, were not used to give customers any sort of notice. 10 min into the fire drill time, staff were still happily scrolling away at their computers. What a waste of time! It it was not bad enough the facility only opens when most people are not available… It’s very kind to open at 7am on weekends but to close at 5pm completely beats the purpose.

Negative experience: I switched my children's swimming membership (after over 10 years of being with the centre) to a gym membership. I did this over the phone. At the time of doing this, I reminded the lady at the reception that my children already had a running direct debit for their swimming lessons and asked her if I needed to cancel their swimming memberships and the direct debits first before starting the gym memberships. She advised me that it wasn't necessary and advised me to let my direct debit run as usual and said that the money will be taken off my direct debit (as it was close to the collection date) but would be refunded and that I should go ahead and pay for the gym memberships separately, which I did. Since then, it's been impossible to get my refund. I spoke severally with a senior member of the management team and he acknowledged that I was given a wrong information about switching memberships but reassured me that he was going to resolve the matter and that I would be refunded. Then followed a series of telephone calls and each time I spoke to him, he pretended that he was hearing of the issue for the first time and provided the same reassurance that they would refund my money. After about 5 meaningless conversations with him, he finally did a 360 and told me that since I didn't give notice of cancellation I would not be getting any refund and directed me to the manager who told me very rudely that she was the boss, and would not authorise a refund. When I asked about their complaint process, she told me in a nutshell that she was in charge and nothing would happen differently as far as complaints went! I feel that the management of this centre has acted in a dishonest, deceitful and callous manner and this is no way to conduct business and to treat one's customers! I feel that their behaviour is hugely deplorable! Once again it felt like the demigods wielding their sledgehammers over the ethnic minority!

Negative experience: Be cautious and do not trust what staff tells you about memberships. They either do not understand how Harlands operate, or intentionally deceive. In my case I've lost nearly 100 pounds and lots of nerves because of mistakes made by staff, which I naively supposed would be easy to solve. Whether it was intention or they were just anomalously stupid, staff failed to provide me with correct information on multiple occasions and it is absolutely impossible to explain anything to Harlands because they disappear every time you try to establish communication. But they are there to take money from you! So, horrible. Never ever again.

Negative experience: I have recently joined from anytime fitness, unfortunately this gym has limited opening times and closes at 9pm weekdays and 5pm on weekends. It is restrictive if you work full time or on weekends. There is always a faulty piece of equipment and very limited parking. I am inclined to join another gym should these early closing times remain.

Negative experience: After using gym facilities for over 6 months now I'm quite confident I can give my honest opinion on things. Let's start with positives: -really relaxed environment (especially for someone not feeling comfortable in big high street gyms) -fairly clean equipment -decent air-conditioning Things I'm not a fan of (in no particular order) -members of staff not doing much in the gym. usually bored and sitting on their phones or chatting at the reception for hours where they could look after the equipment, general hygiene on the floor or simply engage with other people. Especially when you see inexperienced folks that can harm themselves not knowing how to perform exercises properly. -various machines breaking all the time and nobody there to fix them (leg extension broken for almost 3 weeks at some point, lat pulldown broken almost daily, numerous treadmills out of order) - older members regularly running naked in the changing rooms. Changing cabins are there for a reason. No one ever said anything because people are embarrassed to say anything. It's DISGUSTING. -often there's strong urine smell in the showers and toilets. I've seen far worse gyms with much cleaner facilities. Never seen anyone doing tours there to make sure everything looks at least fairly clean. -showers tend to be really hot and you can't adjust water temperature. So if you have sensitive scalp/skin like I do, then I feel sorry for you. The gym is expensive for what it is and should be looked after more by the staff and management. I can't speak for parking as I don't drive, but it usually seems packed. Strong points for convenient location.

Positive experience: A nice leisure centre, with great facilities for both the gym and pool. Only letdown is parking (although the street opposite is available if you're lucky to find a spot), and the poor app you need to use (which isn't a representation of the staff, rather the company that manages the centre).

Negative experience: I've cancelled my membership after 2 months still haven't given me my money back I ring them up every week they say the same thing Amy manager says there a backlog liars

Fantastic experience: Lovely swim session here. Good, clean facilities with hot showers. Pool size perfect and not packed. Very accessible from multiple bus routes.

Negative experience: There is not enough parking there , My daughter is five years old and she became a member to learn to swim, but the level of education and behavior of the teacher. It was not good at all and I was not satisfied

Fantastic experience: My favourite spot for getting in shape the stuff is superb and I honestly don't have any issues to write about.

Negative experience: Preface: Beware of handing over your GPS location & personal health data, the data controller is foreign and shady. Called up for booking and time table information, was deferred to the website and advised to download an app. How do people without internet connection, a smart phone or IT literacy gain access to the pools? "Our app is free" well I should bloody well hope so, I'm not paying you to harvest my data. The app "tracks all your activity in the centre and out, including GPS data" - and why would I want my activity inside the centre tracked and why would I consent to you tracking me outside of the centre exactly? Seems absurd. Looking at the app reviews it is far from user friendly and full of bugs - 97%of reviews are 1 star, all complaining about a lack of UI & UX design. Sounds like the developers (both web & app) need sacked. EDIT: After reviewing the privacy and data handling notices of the data controllers (Technogym based in Italy) it's safe to say, NO I am not handing over my photo, GPS, or health details to be sold on to market researchers and various third parties, including those outside of EU jurisdiction. Imagine making my health data (including my body weight and height) a mandatory condition LOL. Get it together!! Soon parallel systems will emerge to combat these shady practises, our data is NOT yours to have.

Fantastic experience: Went swimming with my daughter. Really well organised, very clean and great, attentive staff. Small car park but we got a space. My daughter loved every second of it!

Fantastic experience: Our local swimming centre. Booking for lanes swimming regularly. Take their covid safety seriously, which made us feel secure yet able to have our swim sessions. There is also a small gym in the centre.

Negative experience: Very busy ,never find a place to park and this is why I didn't sign up to the gym,perfect for anyone livng close by.

Negative experience: Re the pool, the main problem is persistent overcrowding of Lane Swim sessions. Lane Swim sessions are usually very busy and sometimes too crowded to swim without stopping or taking evasive action. Three lanes with 30+ people in the pool is not working well; some of the fast crowd can be quite aggressive towards slower swimmers. Lifeguards are reluctant to get involved with lane discipline, which can sometimes get chaotic. The Gym is excellent; modern machines in a light airy space with huge windows looking out onto the street below. Staff are generally helpful. Car park is small and best avoided, there is plenty of space on nearby side streets if you can walk a few hundred metres.. There are sheltered cycle stands well positioned by the entrance. It's not ideal, but is cheap. The new Sandwell Aquatic Centre, or the University pool look to be the best alternatives, certainly less crowded. Harborne is a 25m pool three lanes, with 45+ places per session; mathematical expertise is not needed to see that won't work well. Update May 2022. Lane sessions even more overcrowded. There are too few sessions for demand.

Negative experience: This fitness center is a theif. Before first lock down I ring them for cancelation of my two daughters account. On the system only one of my daughter been canceled only. Be aware anyone want to cancel their account.

Negative experience: Poor service. Not enough parking. Very few instructors only swim with children. Children progress very slowly.

Positive experience: Nice modern pool. Went for lane swimming. Covid measures in place were good. Car park is a bit small.

Negative experience: Parking is a nightmare. The actual car park is tiny and it’s the wild Wild West of parking. Local area has a few spaces but my major annoyance is how they don’t care how other people park. There’s a large carpark gated off but that’s for staff and another business. That car park is always empty. As a gym it’s got a pool and usual stuff.

Negative experience: To expensive, joined fitness 24/7 on Hagley Road. Paid membership £110 for 1 year on Black Friday sale. Great staff and equipment. Great parking too.

Positive experience: This place is slightly better than it used to be, i.e. staff seems nicer.
