Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Loving aquafit class
Positive experience: Not the best changing rooms and toilets in the pool area, but the swimming pool is fine. Didn't check the rest of the facilitie, 3 starts for now.
Negative experience: Poor customer service. Safety concerns
Fantastic experience: Good place for day out with kids
Fantastic experience: Aqua Aerobics class very good. Staff on reception helpful. Thank you.
Positive experience: Poor state of disrepair needs work done on it .
Positive experience: Lovely little swimming pool, with fantastic staff, that were very helpful, in a wonderful park and sports hub,
Negative experience: Rang 5 times in 24 hours to make a booking but no pick up. Poor service. Booked elsewhere
Fantastic experience: Excellent service, used sports hall for badminton. Weekdays £5/h. Very cheap
Positive experience: Football facilities are superb but the car parking is absolutely horrific on a Saturday morning. A couple of wardens would solve the whole problem!
Fantastic experience: Yoga with Karen, I highly recommend
Positive experience: Used for various sports. Excellent all weather pitches
Positive experience: Went to children's playground. Good variety of playground items but the child gate is still not working as it stays open so if child runs they can get out of playground.
Thanks for your review, the playground isn't part of the leisure centre but we will report this to South Ribble Borough Council.
Negative experience: Awful football pitch design. For paying parents to stand behind a cage to watch there children play.
Fantastic experience: It fun and it is always warm and the life Gards are soo nice
Positive experience: New pitches are decent, just needs the cafe to open
Fantastic experience: Pool is always clean and at the right temperature for the weather. Plenty starve and changing spaces. Shower rooms are reasonably maintained. Staff are very nice and helpful.
Negative experience: Shocking situation, this website is a joke, phone services on continuous repeat, no one answering the reception, different websites give different times. Shocking
Positive experience: Great leisure centre with a nice pool we visit with our son. Great park for kids in the same grounds. Problem is good luck with parking now they've opened the football centre, it used to have free space for visiting the leisure centre or the park, but now saturday mornings consist of trying to find somewhere to park...
Fantastic experience: Good 3g pitches and after game there good park for kids to play.
Positive experience: Great gym. I've been a member since I moved to Bamber Bridge around 5 years ago. I mainly do cardio so I mostly stay upstairs. It could do with a fitness tracking machine like at South Ribble Tennis Centre, but apart from that top marks
Fantastic experience: Really had a great time. When it's really hot outside the pool is perfect
Positive experience: Was a really nice park and plenty to do. Even a nice bike ride through the woods.
Positive experience: It's okay for OAPS AND CHILDREN No good if you want to do lengths. People all over the place.
Negative experience: Told at 3.15 pm , I can’t join up and pay for a 6 month offer because there closing the computer system down !! They have 40 minutes till they close at 4 pm !! They don’t have a care in the world about customer service ! Also told no one available to show me round the gym ! There busy !
Positive experience: Good took grandchild for swimming lessons
Fantastic experience: Wonderful to be back and meeting up with group again.x
Fantastic experience: Very Friendly staff, always happy to help, make me feel so welcome and love the swim ....chills me out ...best place for me , everyone so friendly
Fantastic experience: Very good
Positive experience: Great night of table tennis.... definitely need some air con or fans in them squash courts though
Fantastic experience: Love it here. Come every friday for " this girl can" ladies swimming. Never too busy.
Positive experience: Nice park plenty for the children to do we have no parks like this in preston well done south ribble council
Positive experience: Large park area for the kids and there is a large field for football etc. Plenty of parking, and there is usually an ice cream van there. Cuffs is very cheap.
Positive experience: The pool is cold, I was told it is 28.6C today. Took me a good half hour to dip the whole body in! Not sure if it's because the pools are all joined together but usually places with a separate child's pool are much warmer. Will have to try somewhere else as that's too cold for me when I don't get to swim because I'm supervising a small child. It's exactly the same layout as Penwortham. Could do with staff cleaning the toilet regularly, puddle of water mixed with toilet paper people dropped on the floor (which I don't understand anyways, I wish people would clean up after themselves!) The changing rooms and toilets have a very faint urine smell. Some of the locker keys were damaged meaning you can't put them on your wrist. I don't know why they haven't been removed or fixed. Frustrating having to take things out of the locker and put them in another after this realisation. But it is a council pool so I know if I want nice facilities I need to pay for something private. Just my review of my first visit today. Reluctant to go back!
Fantastic experience: Busy in the afternoon.
Negative experience: I went to bamber bridge leisure centre today for a gym class body pump. The equipment was very dated, bent bars and old style weights and with clips that take forever to get off. The leisure centre could really do with a full revamp, as for £6.50 a class is a lot for what you’re paying for. Don’t get me wrong the gym instructor was great. But you could pay a lot less for a more updated gym
Positive experience: Nice leisure centre and now even better with the great new all weather football pitches.
Fantastic experience: Football training on a Saturday morning, indoors, great coach, friendly group and a really positive atmosphere for those wanting to have a go.
Negative experience: Went for a swim, at 8am so first ones in, the place was filthy. Used plasters and bits of runbish at the bench near the pool and the changing area obviously hasn't been cleaned. Disgusting.
Positive experience: Very family- friendly. Would recommend to anyone in search of an outing!
Positive experience: In need of a good clean and renovation unfortunately
Positive experience: We went to the park adjacent to the leisure centre it was brill but my little boy banged his head quite badly coming down the tunnel slide said there was metal inside so just be careful
Negative experience: Appalling customer service, never answer the phone
Negative experience: Gym contracts have a nasty term that requires you to pay an extra month when you cancel, manager was unsympathetic and quite rude to put it mildly, very greedy. Get a contract somewhere else if you have to now it's very expensive for such a small facility. They also semi-frequently ran out of anything to wipe down the equipment with and some of the equipment is quite old and wasn't always working.
Negative experience: Needs changing areas sorting!
Negative experience: Shockingly bad customer service, signed up to a 12 month membership, was turned away because they were full or having maintenance issues so many times that i made a complaint and was told if i don't like it then i should cancel my membership but was told i would still have to pay up for the year. Tried to make the most and go with my daughter and was made to wait outside in the rain while there was a staff meeting for over half an hour. Finally my 12 months came to an end so i cancelled my direct debit and received an email telling me I had to give notice to cancel my contract even though it was only a 12 month one and that i owed money and if i didn't pay they would send debt collectors to retrieve £15 from me. DISGUSTING customer service all round, DO NOT sign up to a membership once you do they don't give a damn about you
Positive experience: Good
Fantastic experience: Lovely place and staff
Negative experience: Dim, drab and none too clean. The ladies shower area is very grubby. The mat in there is full of hair, and can't be hygienic! The pool surrounds are really dirty, and what's with the sand area full of rubbish by the pool?? The changing area was lovely and warm, but the water was really cold. My little one was shivering and blue, we got out after a short time. The changing rooms we used were clean, just full of water. The ladies toilet had no toilet tissue, and the floor was full of water and bits of paper. The outside of the building is dreadful! Some serious maintenance, both inside and out, is urgently required.
Negative experience: Such a shame the amount of chavs outside which the staff seem to do nothing about ruins the look and can be intimidating for people
Negative experience: What a shame Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre has no one taking responsibility for the cleanliness and hygiene of changing area, toilets, and disability shower area. The chair in the disability shower room is rusty and black with mould and the tiles and floors and walls are dirty . Areas around the changing rooms and the floor leading to the pool were filthy from people's outside footwear today. Having showered and walking BACK to the changing room adults and children were having to walk in muck and what looked and I only describe as a dead worm. I only wish I had my phone to take a picture to post it to the management. I had to go back to the wash room for clean to water to rinse my Grandaughter feet, using her drinking bottle to collect clean water to rewashed her feet, fortunately I was wearing my swim socks. When we arrived at the swimming pool the floor was filthy and an hour later not one member of Staff cleaned the changing areas, shower, disabilty shower, and toilets, though it was clear to see entering the changing area how dirty the floor was leading to the pool, all that muck was being brought into the pool It's not the first time I've been to Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre and have used the shower area, toilets and the disabilty shower and toilet facility. 2018 the disabilty area was not nice then, the same mouldy chair and and dirty changing area . What a shame, I SAY, because Bamber Bridge has a great family pool, good size changing rooms for families with children, and people like myself whom have a disabilty, it is easy accessible to the pool at different levels and to the toilets and changing areas. My Grandaughter and I had a lovely time playing in the pool, but it was spoilt by the neglect of cleanliness and hygiene. Not sure we want to go again.
Positive experience: The staff are fantastic and the gym and showers are brilliant. My only issue is with people swimming widths!!! if a couple of lane ropes were put out it would stop all the problems of people swimming into each other. there's loads of room near the steps for people to swim short distances.
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff who are more than accommodating with great membership deals always a smiling face behind the desk and great fitness classes especially aqua aerobics Henry makes it very enjoyable, Paul is more than helpful making personal fitness programmes to suit you needs and Andy is a great to deal with regarding memberships definitely made the right choice of gym
Fantastic experience: Good local amenities
Positive experience: Swimming is mostly clean, quite warm. Clean changing. Don't know about other facilities
Positive experience: Like it
Fantastic experience: Clean and friendly
Positive experience: Nice pool for a swim
Positive experience: Need to entertain the kids for half a day. Swimming pool then Withy Grove Park and pick up a tasty Ice cream. Boom! Kids are made up!
Positive experience: Good pool, rather warm. Sometimes too busy to actually get any swimming done as it is small and round shaped combining small and big pool.
Fantastic experience: Ok
Fantastic experience: Great Gym, if you like heavy duty weights etc. I love it & the staff are great. There's a new guy just transferred from Penwortham. ANDY. He's a top geezer & will help you out with absolutely anything, except the post workout shower. Super Super Super
Positive experience: Lovely pool with a great children's play park next to it sadly the staff let it down big time even when disabled members are waiting to pay to enter they are made to wait sometimes for 5 - 10 mins while the staff chat to each other and even once you do get in often after just 10 minutes in the pool the staff throw you out so they can hold private classes which they don't bother informing you they are holding when your paying, Sadly even with the recent refurbishment which really updated the centre I still don't frequent the pool often due to the way its run
Fantastic experience: lovely park. great for all ages.!
Negative experience: The staff are utterly devoid of personality and that is being generous, I actually find them rude and dismissive in their manner! They leave you standing at reception, not a word of acknowledgement, no smile, no welcome whatsoever and totally unprofessional, all chatting to each other whilst blanking the customer. No class. The leisure center has very recently undergone a bit of a make over and it's ok, better than the very dated decor and grime of before but the facilities are still quite limited and still shared! unisex changing rooms, which I hate. The pool does seem clean and a nice temperature. It's an odd shape though, leading to an experience ruining mix of swimming paths crossing, jumping in the deep end with all the splashing and a rather congested experience. The lifeguards do not control behaviour in the pool as far as I can see, it's a free for all. Try to seek out a quiet time if you can. The lifeguards do too much standing and staring, making swimming uncomfortable, they just have no discretion and they always look thoroughly bored and miserable. Sometimes music is played but it's too loud and simply personal entertainment for the lifeguard on patrol. Some of the so called lifeguards are clearly overweight and unfit, I do not think they'd be much good in an emergency. There used to be a personable and efficient staff member there, Jake but he's left now I think and I don't blame him! On the whole it's a mediocre experience and one wonders just what goes on behind the scenes. The staff are employed by a private firm I think, whilst the pool is funded from the local authority. It is all in need of a good shake up.
Negative experience: Very dirty I found
Positive experience: it is very poor with the facilities
