Our comment from FitFit UK about Cameron Toll Shopping Centre:
Cameron Toll Shopping Centre is a vibrant hub in Edinburgh, offering a diverse range of shops and services that cater to the local community. Visitors appreciate the extensive selection of retail outlets, including popular supermarkets such as Sainsbury's and Aldi, along with a variety of other shops from clothing to specialty stores.
Highlights of the Centre:
- Wide range of shops and restaurants, ideal for all shopping needs.
- Clean, well-maintained environment that feels safe and welcoming.
- Ample free parking space and easy access via public transport.
- Family-friendly atmosphere with designated areas for children.
- Multiple dining options including coffee shops for a quick break.
Despite its many strengths, some users have pointed out a few drawbacks, such as the challenge of navigating the parking area and limited options for dining inside the centre. Others feel that the centre could benefit from some modernization and an expanded variety of shops. Nevertheless, for casual shopping and everyday essentials, Cameron Toll Shopping Centre remains a convenient and popular choice among locals.
Cameron Toll Shopping Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Busy and vibrant part of the community with good shops giving a wide and varied choice.
Positive experience: Nightmare to get out the parking
Fantastic experience: Great place to shop
Fantastic experience: Wholesaler of undies and night wear in ABA ariaaria international Market
Fantastic experience: Go often can get everything under one roof. Will be avoiding it for next 8wks due to traffic jams because of gas repairs
Negative experience: Went to pick up some razor blades. The entire shop appears to have a 30% tax if you don't have a nectar card. Needless to say I'm not going back
Fantastic experience: Managed to get a few bargains. Nice shopping Centre. Clean & tidy. Good selection of shops & also places to eat. Would recommend to others. Plenty of parking spaces too
Positive experience: A good amount of different shops in it also somewhere to grab a quick bite to eat
Fantastic experience: Easy access. Easy parking. Good variety of mid- level shops. Supermarkets - Aldi and Sainsbury’s
Fantastic experience: Looks very strange from the outside, like a location you would see on Star Trek. Nice variety of shops, supermarkets and coffee shops
Positive experience: Like anywhere else has a variety of shops and stalls to tempt you to buy their produce not a place I visit very often I shop locally in Musselburgh where I live
Positive experience: I like Cameron Toll Shopping Centre because of all of the different shops, and my family do their weekly shopping there. It is also a good place to have a coffee ☕☕ or some lunch with family or friends.
Positive experience: It's a small shopping centre but there are a good variety of shops. The toilets were clean and modern and there were a good amount of benches to sit down to rest your feet for a minute. It's small, you wouldn't go out of your way to visit but if you are in the area it's nice to browse the shops or buy groceries.
Fantastic experience: had an amazing time just chilling and going shopping with my bsf/cousin and also getting our nails done
Positive experience: This shopping mall is a pretty small place to be honest. The only reason you come here is when you need to go to the big Sainsbury's. There are some restaurants, clothing shops, toy shops, but if you want to go to a big shopping mall, this isn't the place to go.
Positive experience: A lot of good shops. Free parking.
Positive experience: The place is tiny: there are grocery stores, souvenir stores, fitness, and that's it. I've been there three times this year and never bought anything no matter how hard I've tried.
Positive experience: A very dull, dated, uninspiring, shopping centre, badly needing to be demolished, and started anew again, as it was done very successfully at old St James Centre in central Edinburgh. Same owners too.
Negative experience: Not my kind of shopping centre. I only go there for the big Sainsbury's if close by. At least the public toilets were half decent and clean when I went in. Not sure why Boots was shutting at 3pm?
Fantastic experience: I use it several times a week. It's my favourite shopping centre.
Positive experience: Google wants me to review this. Not sure what can be said other than the place often feeling sterile and dystopian.
Positive experience: my mum used to always love coming here as a child as it was new and all the good shops were there, but now i would rather go anywhere else for a clothing shopping day because all they have are some cheap knock off brands and the basic other shops. Otherwise it is a very normal place to be they have two supermarkets, opticians, boots and a gym. But they really do need to renovate even redo some of the 80s décor for Halloween and maybe partner for some Halloween movie promo would be cool for the newer teenage age group.
Positive experience: To be honest it's more a glorified shopping tunnel than a shopping centre but it's close to my work
Positive experience: Good shopping centre, can find everything you need. Kid friendly since there are couple of small rides. Also they decorate it very nicely
Fantastic experience: I like this shopping centre, though small in comparison to a few, it has a lot to offer and different shops. It's well kept and clean. I feel safe walking around and browsing which is important.
Positive experience: Fine wee shopping centre with good food outlets. Clean and vibrant
Fantastic experience: Lots off different shops in this place its amazing
Fantastic experience: Small shopping centre but with a good selection of shops. I think it's very good for the local community.
Fantastic experience: Great affordable gym with friendly staff and an inclusive atmosphere, could do with a Seated Hamstring Curl.
Fantastic experience: Was late at night when I went. Sainsbury's was still open untill 10 pm. Absolutely massive inside . Wow.
Positive experience: Go most weeks to shop nice shops gym upstairs nice coffee shop Greg's there to clothes shops
Positive experience: Had a nice stay, the staff was lovely (Pawel was very reactive and made our stay pleasant). However, I would just notice that our sheets were stained and the bathroom had puff + cars take the parking as a shortcut. Breakfast was enough.
Fantastic experience: Nice place for shopping planty of different brands are available to shop all kind of things. many food points also available so you can ha a cup of coffee after hectic shopping seasion.
Fantastic experience: Big massive shout out to cam toll, i have a massive dog that needed to be hooked up outside, now i can walk him through and never had a negative response even the security guards know and acknowledge Pablo (Picasso by the way, not the other one) so if you see him (black rottie x corso x lab, please come and pet him, you'll be a pack mate for life
Positive experience: If your in need of a quick gift, you need to come here, many places where you can spend money
Positive experience: It's an okay shopping centre with a range of essential shops. My main reason to give 3 stars is that it lacks restaurants. The building also looks very old on the outside. There are essential shops like a pharmacy, opticians etc with a massive Sainsbury's and Aldi. The big supermarkets are at the centre. Overall, it's a good place that has a lot of potential and if you need something, you'll most likely find it here.
Positive experience: Good array of shops, well kept clean mall. Recommended.
Positive experience: This is just a basic Shopping Center with Two Banks, a couple of Supermarkets Aldi and Sainsbury's.Pound shop usual high street shops and eateries. Ideal for quick shopping and free parking.
Positive experience: Nice shopping centre in general, but nothing super fancy. I like that it has the gym inside it and a sainsbury’s.
Fantastic experience: It's a bit like a smaller version of the Livingston centre with many of the same shops. I like the bid are shop ,shoezone etc plus the alldi there is quiet big. Plus a Sainsbury's a.greggs etc. There are some Seats and a couple of coffee shops...I do like this centre for choice.
Negative experience: Average mall. But staff at Optical Express are hedious. The "wide" lady with glasses is the most horrid person you will encounter ever. Nasty arrogant attitude and harsh manners.
Fantastic experience: Exterior looks pretty amazing late 1980s ! We can get almost all stores.
Fantastic experience: The staff are very helpful and do their best to find exactly what you require from your holiday. We have known Paul the Manager for many years, he in the past spent over 2 hours sorting out a problem that we ourselves created. More like a friend to us than travel agent staff. Would highly recommend this travel company to anyone.
Positive experience: Its an ok shopping centre, although there isn't a wide variety of shops - you have several phone shops and several opticians but the rest of the centre is a bit lacking
Fantastic experience: It's a place where dreams are made. They also have a CeX so you can sell your dreams when you no longer want them and buy some Blu Rays instead.
Positive experience: The centre is laid out nicely for customers, a few customers don't pay attention to the walking order of the centre, ie walking on the right side either way from end to end, slightly frustrating seeing social distancing should be adhered to..
Fantastic experience: It is great having a small shopping centre a short distance from our house. The Sainburys supermarket offers a great selection but I also love that there is an Aldi. The fresh fruit & veg is great value. There is a chemist, 2 banks, clothes shops, toy store, book store, gym & cafes. There is free parking, a taxi rank, bus stops on the main road outside the centre. Also the bus that goes to the airport stops there. There are public toilets and the centre is clean. The two things I would ask the management to review.......ask the charity collectors & utility sellers to stop shouting to everyone as they approach them & stop people smoking at the entrance! . **Edit** Great of the owner to reply but have you addressed the problems in the review. Where is the reply to that???
Thanks for your review, we are happy to hear you enjoy a visit to the centre
Positive experience: Access is good and inclusive with many retail outlets plus 2 supermarkets - Sainsbury's and Aldi.
Fantastic experience: Banks, chemists, food, clothing and cafes tick all the shopping basics. Travel agents, book, toy and phone shops as well as video game and opticians add that bit extra. It's a descent size for its location, has ample parking and good bus and taxi links. It's clean, well maintained and staff are pleasant and helpful on the whole, across all the shops. Don't expect an out of town monster mall. It's somewhere that local people shop regularly, securely and confidently.
Thanks Andy, that's a really great review, we will let the staff know
Positive experience: Hi, can you please increase some security inside the mall? Smoking is so rampant inside the mall. Its really disappointing. People smoke so freely inside the mall. Is that how it is supposed to be?
Thanks Ravi, thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we presently allow the use of vapes in the mall, however the smoking of cigarettes/Cigars/pipes is not allowed. Our security teams are always around on site so should you ever spot someone smoking please do raise this with them.
Negative experience: Worst shopping center I have seen. Just few shops, all of them low quality. Shops closed early, nothing expert mac Donald's that allows you to eat there. (Costa caffe' is not a restaurant, but a place that sells dirty water called "espresso").
Hi Davide, We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit to Cameron Toll, we also have a Greggs and Subway for cafe style food, and Sainsbury's have a cafe in store should you visit again. Our core mall hours are 10am to 6pm so you will find most stores closed in the evening, Sainsbury's and Aldi are both open until 10pm.
Fantastic experience: After transforming the upper cafe level in the center into a Gym there is a little more activity in the evenings with the super markets open till 8 & 10pm currently.
Positive experience: Love this shopping centre everything u really need in one place only others thing they need is a post office there should be one here as it's always packed
Fantastic experience: Not been on this place 4 a lo g time but I must say that I enjoyed my self very much and the shops r much better that what they used 2 b yes I would deco go back again
Fantastic experience: Decent shopping centre in Edinburgh. A little supermarket heavy for my tastes but other than that, not a bad place to go.
Positive experience: A few good shops although some going out of business security in the center are a bit of a joke they ate to busy trying to get dates than doing security avoid here make the extra journey and go to the gyle or the fort
Positive experience: Good sized shopping centre with lots of parking. Has your usual shops (Sainsbury's, Aldi,Travel agent's Opticians and a Bank) also independent retailers. Has a useful food area to grab quick lunch. Overall a nice clean centre with facilities.
Fantastic experience: A great centre where you can find almost anything you want. Convenient parking and bus travel and with an airy and pleasant ambience.
Positive experience: Got everything you would really need in a small shopping centre , just need the long awaited gym opened up now
Fantastic experience: Pretty good shopping centre. Has a variety of shops, including a big sainsbury's and an Aldi
Negative experience: My kifs were playing and the men who was in there came up and told them to shut it then in newlook the kids where looking at stuff amd one of the staff said to my son she was going to snap his fingers not happy he was in tears.
Negative experience: A traditionally dull mall with almost nowhere to eat. Simply not a place you'd enjoy visiting.
Positive experience: It's a perfectly adequate Shopping Centre, refurbished within living memory. I can see no point in reviewing this kind of thing.
Fantastic experience: I’ve only visited here at 6:30 in the morning due to their being a 24hr McDonald’s and a Costa coffee drive thru open, ideal for those who start work early.
Positive experience: Went into the centre womens toilet but i had to walk straight back out because they were absolutely stinking and i was boacing. You can smell the mens toilets even with the door closed as you're passing. Disgusting. But the shopping centre itself is clean and fresh.
Positive experience: Nice shopping mall with a selection of shops from cheap to expensive, with Aldi and Sainsburys for groceries and Costa, Subway, Greggs and McDonald's (which is not directly inside). The mall has a good connection to city center by buses and taxis waiting in the stop most of the working day hours
Positive experience: An average shopping centre. You will find the standard shops in here. The architecture and the atmosphere in Cameron Toll is compared to other shopping centres really good.
Fantastic experience: didn't go beyond the car park because I was that fed up of the assault course I just encountered to get to centre all those road speed bumps erroded surfaces big bumps bangs etc just wore me out with anger as I've got a sore back and hate my car being beaten up by our roads .
Positive experience: All shops inside are nice and varied although the building itself is horrendous to look at in 2018. With the addition of a ‘Drive Thru’ Costa and McDonald’s added to the the small car park makes it nightmare to park at the front anymore. Aldi opened a store inside not long back, I think it balances out the prices with Sainsbury’s being the only supermarket there. From New Look to toy shops, Barbers, Gym can’t forget the usual Greggs plus lots more it’s definitely handy for me as a local ‘all in one’ place for shopping!
Positive experience: Really nice environment friendly shops/staff sainsbury is really good for alot of essentials
Positive experience: This is an average shopping centre. There are a few shops but not a lot to choose from and the products are not in a big variety. There are a few supermarkets where you can buy food from. It is accessible by bus, car or foot so that is a good thing. There are sales once in a while but not a lot. The Works- it is a good shop, very organised and with nice staff.
Fantastic experience: Great place to go to plenty of shops taxi rank outside even has times of buses at main door there is a Gregg's & a Subway and a cafe for food and drink an Aldi store and seats to sit on
Positive experience: Containing Aldis, Sainsburys, bank of Scotland, subway, couple clothes stores and glasses places. Kept pretty clean as well. Protip: Aldis is cheaper for just about everything, but its a smaller selection and their fruit and peanut butter are terrible.
Positive experience: Nice little shopping centre. Not alot of shops but still good .coffee shops aswell for having a break. Plenty of spaces for parking also
Fantastic experience: Yes Great place to shop even go up stairs for something eat love the place now plenty of shops even sports shop o2 shop POUNDLAND Boots shop lots of shops
Positive experience: Range of shops. Something there to cater to everyone. Pleasant environment. Good location and parking
Fantastic experience: An interesting shopping centre with some of the usual suspects and a couple of oddities. It's very handy to have a Sainsbury's and an Aldi in the same place.
Positive experience: A small array of standard shopping centre type shops. Somewhat let down however by the presence of two supermarkets and two pound bargain style shops all in such a small space
Fantastic experience: With a number of stores to choose from, this shopping center is an awesome place to shop. It's also clean and has nice coffee shops to take a break at.
Positive experience: Fine, Sainsbury’s is massive but the choice of other shops is slightly lacking
Fantastic experience: I just love going to this centre. It's not got a lot of units but Sainsburys is large with a cafe. It's got the right mix of retail units and you can still get what you want, in a budget.
Positive experience: Central shopping centre for the Newington area of Edinburgh dominated by a large Sainsburys usually plenty of parking but parking will be busy if you go at the weekend during the day.
Positive experience: Always clean and tidy. Security staff are very nice. Good variety of stores.
Positive experience: Good Shopping centre with some good stores.. with the recent addition of a McDonald's & Costa coffee drive thru restaurants
Positive experience: Not bad - has a few good shops inside and a McDonald's and Costa outside. It lost its food court a few years ago, but it was struggling anyway so probably inevitable. The Sainsbury's is an impressive size. Only annoying thing is the sales people with stands in the middle of the centre who try to get your attention - it puts me off staying there a while.
Positive experience: Good shops and free parking. Although it's great to have a 24hr mcdonalds... its got pretty poor service. But the centre is great!
Fantastic experience: Good range of shops, free parking, food outlets and opening hours.
Fantastic experience: Always nice. Budget shops to costa coffee. Stalls and banks tsb and bank of scotland. Thornton lovely icecream. To outside mcdonalds plenty of parking.
Negative experience: I used to enjoy a good wander around Cameron toll but the shops are disappointing these days and I don't enjoy being bothered by all the sellers down the middle of the centre. 1 or 2 are fine but there are now around 6 and they can be rather pushy.
Negative experience: Terrible place old and antiquated . Cheap tacky shops and your usual greasy , fatty, unhealthy food shops . Now got a cheap Aldi store . Only place worth visiting is Sainsburys.
Fantastic experience: Entertainer was Wonderful, short man with a beard wasn't very pleased to see customers but the short girl with the glasses was lovely!
Positive experience: Ok basic shops, better now it has a Aldi. Can be a bit chilly walking or sitting anywhere in the centre.
Positive experience: Great selection of stores plus new McDonald's and Costa.Gym still not open though
Positive experience: Like a look around Cameron Toll. Not too many top end clothes stores but good for every day clothes and Sainsbury's always good for food shopping. Boots always handy and of course large Aldi store too.
Fantastic experience: A great shopping centre good quality and quality of shops, banks , even a gym very clean and plenty free parking has a petrol station as well and coffee shops
Positive experience: In the end stage of a refit, but it has a decent choice of shops - Waterstones, Game, Sainsburys and Aldi being the main draws, but there's plenty of clothes and accessories stores Food court upstairs is gone, being slowly replaced with a gym, but there's still decent food options - mostly takeaway now, like Gregg' s or Subway - and parking is free!
Positive experience: It's getting better, a few empty units for a while but now got businesses in. It's got Sainsbury's, Aldi, Card factory, Boots, Warren James, Waterstones, WH Smith, Costa, Subway, Thorntons, TSB, Few Phone Shops, Cex, Entertainment Toy Shop, Claire's Opticians.
Fantastic experience: Plenty places to eat, easy for busses good shops, banks, you can even book your holiday here what more can you ask for
Positive experience: There are a pretty good variety of shops for a small shopping centre. Having two supermarkets (Sainsbury's and Aldi) is also pretty convenient. It would be better if more shops had longer opening hours in the evening and if the gym was ever going to be completed (it's been "opening soon" for over a year).
Fantastic experience: I love this centre. It has the variety of clothes, homewear and food , travel shops and banking facilities. Very convenient.
