Negative experience: Extremely Disappointed with Service at Barton Leisure Centre I am truly disappointed with my experience at Barton Leisure Centre. From the start, the service was far below expectations, and I encountered several issues that have left a very negative impression of the facility. One of the most upsetting experiences occurred when my partner and I arrived late—around 10 to 15 minutes—for an aqua class. We were eager to join the class, but when we approached the swimming pool, the coach refused to let us in. Instead of explaining the policy or offering a helpful solution, the coach spoke to us in a rude and dismissive manner. This was not only unprofessional but completely unnecessary. Since that incident, we have not returned to the gym. We even made an effort to give it another chance by trying to use the swimming pool again, but we left almost immediately due to the negative atmosphere. The overall environment at the gym felt unwelcoming, with staff attitudes that lacked basic courtesy. The customer service is absolutely terrible, and the gym itself isn’t as clean as it should be. We have been so put off by the experience that we tried calling them on the 21st of this month to cancel our membership as we are not going anyway. However, we were told that we had to give a one-month notice period and that we would still be charged for the next month. This feels incredibly unfair, especially since we have no intention of ever returning. I’ve never experienced such poor service in my life, and it’s frustrating to know they will take our money for a service we don’t want. In all my years of using gyms in London and Oxfordshire, I have never encountered such a negative experience. I would not recommend Barton Leisure Centre to anyone based on my experience, and I hope this feedback encourages them to improve their customer service and cleanliness. PS: I should’ve checked the ratings and read the reviews before signing up for the membership. If I had, I would have avoided this frustrating experience altogether.

Fantastic experience: Renovated and looks great. I wish people with gym and swim membership will be offered discounted swimming teaching classes or increase the classes per week to 2.

Fantastic experience: Clean and tidy gym area with friendly staff. Rarely busy which makes for a quick workout. Basic spread of free weights and machines. Patrons need to learn to put their plates back but no complaints with the facility itself. Never used the pool or change rooms.

Negative experience: Trying to get a temp membership for my Japanese student was a bit hellish and very time consuming. We are a very international group of people in Oxford but the payments are made very difficult no cash no cards without a sort code accepted but think we are the only country that does sort codes pleased somebody look into this and make it user friendly. Staff were fab but hindered by archaic system

Negative experience: Today come to gym around 7.20 pm and waited 15 minutes in disk to someone to let me in. At the gym 8pm someone come and told me that gym closes at 8pm . Have seen in front door sign Monday to Friday closes at 10.30 pm not only that the old men in frond disk being so nasty and asked me to leave promptly. I have asked for manager and said he's assistant manager But my suggestion please don't use this gym not only the personal matter also the fact roundness of that gentleman who shouldn't be working there . I have paid for whole month plus deposit and only used the gym 2 times . I tried to contact the manager but no luck . Only one way is to cancel my membership.

Negative experience: i removed my memembership last year and they start charging me 3 months ago again for a service i did not ask. staff in Barton has been completely useless and they could not fix the problem. so, at the moment i lost 100£ scammed from that oxford city council facility.

Positive experience: We have used the centre several times for family members, especially the swimming pool. It's a clean and friendly centre conveniently located in Barton. The swimming pool is understaffed though which is a bit of a shame.

Negative experience: Fine but overpriced. Some of the staff are lovely and on the ball but a lot are dozey. Had been offered some months off free when signing up in person, which they then rescinded on when it finally came to those months. They refused to give a refund even though several other members were offered the same incentive to join. Extremely poor customer service on this behalf. Gym is small, old but useable. Pool is small but the lifeguard is a great guy. Very overpriced for what it is. £30 a month is for a good gym and pool, which this is not. Still, if you want to spend more money than it's worth for location or convenience, it does the job.

Negative experience: A little bit small but still pleasant, the staff are nice. I was supposed to get two months free as a signing up incentive and when the time came, they refused to give it to me and cancelled my membership without telling me when I complained.

Negative experience: I have just started to swim at Barton pool again, after a long illness. I find that the water temperature is quite low and my swim is not 100 p/c enjoyable. Also the change of staff is very different the present staff are polite they are not as the friendly as they could be.The ones I knew became friends as it should be and welcoming .for instance I arrived for my lunchtime swim I was allowed in I changed and the found that he pool was not open .No reason was given and I had to leave with OUT an explanation. I WAS Not Best PlEASED. Staff cordially is MOST Important..

Negative experience: I do not recommend it. There are so many other and better gyms. Many of the equipment do not work, multifunction, and very old. They close relatively early 8pm during the week and 4pm on weekends. Fusion tries to make money from you in every possible way. Do you want to freeze your membership, please pay £10/month. Do you want to join the gym, please pay £30 in addition to the monthly membership fees. Do you want to cancel, you will have to pay for an additional month before they cancel your direct debit. Such a money oriented institution. And they call themselves a charity.

Negative experience: Avoid the SCAMMERS. Should be zero stars. I booked a yoga class through their website for the first time. Money taken from my account. Showed up, was told that the teacher was on A/L and I shouldn't be able to book online as it was supposed to be blocked (it wasn't). I asked for a refund. After several emails was told refund will go to my membership account rather thank back to the bank acc. I asked for my money to be refunded back to my bank (had no intention to return to this place after the initial experience). Eventually they agreed and said it would take 21 days. More than 21 days passed and I still have not received my money. They stopped replying to my emails. I have just reported them to the Trading Standards. Shameful practices!

Negative experience: Very rude staff. Called them today to enquire about the membership. First of all a person who answered the phone was not clear what he is saying and when I asked if I can cancel my membership by coming to the counter he refused it. And now I am calling them from last one hour and no one it answering. This is totally unprofessional. Will never suggest anyone to go here. The customer service is bad. The pools are not clean. Not a good environment to workout.

Fantastic experience: My local leisure centre. Has been very responsible during the pandemic, and is surprisingly busy and well equipped for a small centre. Very glad it is here.

Negative experience: Absolutly awful staff they over charged me and it was a free swim for kids so they charged me 12 pound something when it should be free with slice/fushion card. I payed cash and they refused to give me my cash back

Positive experience: Pool rating: Good if you have kids and you want them to practice swimming ’not a place for toys and fun’, with a safe pool depth, also adults can swim solo or with their kids; however, beware of the overloaded schedule as there is only one pool thus check online or over the phone for availability, check for other activities around, ask how long you can stay and when the shift is gonna change ’you will have to leave at that point.’ The water temperature is a bit cold for kids body low fat, that's why the minus one star, as they couldn't stand more than 30 minutes or might need to keep on the move. otherwise very kind, polite and flexible staff with good price and a spacey free car park. For fun and warm water for younger kids, I would prefer the blackbird leys; although the latter is more expensive and overcrowded.

Negative experience: My pictures say it all, extremely dirty in the changing rooms. Myself and my friend where utterly disgusted this week at the level of dirt in the swimming area, it was not just mud but weeks and weeks of dirt, hair and much more? The pictures speak for themselves.

Negative experience: First of all the alley next to the centre should be lit, where are the lights for public use, it is hazardous, with uneven ground and terrifying in the dark? Once I came out and someone was hidden in a bush scaring passers by, get some lights and make it safe! Some of the classes are good, however the place is filthy, dirty! I hate going, I go for one lesson and that is all I can withstand! I have been many times and it is not improving but getting worse? Never, ever have I seen changing rooms or showers with so much grimy dirt everywhere, in every corner, the mixed facilities is a silly idea, the toilets and general changing area, stink to high heaven and the staff think that getting water from the swimming pool in watering cans is sufficient to clean the area with. It really is bad. I have attached pictures and hope they address the situation
