Fantastic experience: To be able to park for free and use this leisure centre is so uplifting. I attended and aqua aerobics session run by Carmen it was a great workout with fantastic beats. Lovely welcome from reception what's not to like !

Positive experience: I've been a member of this gym for 11 years (on and off but always paid for it...like most!) and I do like it. I also did my childhood swimming lessons here for years, over 20 years ago now, and I loved them at the time. Some of the staff from then are still there, especially the main lady who is on reception. The centre has a comfortable and warm feel to it. The gym staff seem friendly if you want to speak to them. I have seen some comments about the receptionists on here and I can see how it might come across to new members, but I have personally always found them helpful if I've needed anything. The only issue I have is the weekend closing times- I don't know if this is a Better thing across the board but 5pm is so disappointingly early. I would love to do a Saturday or Sunday night workout so that's a shame. Otherwise, a good, simple gym with swimming and classes included if you don't want to break the bank. It's not Virgin Active or David Lloyd, but it does the job. I think the £32/mo membership is well worth the price if you're on a fitness routine!

Fantastic experience: I recently join this gym as is near my home. The facilities are new and the cleanliness is amazing, as well as the staff very friendly and professional, in particular Stella, I personally think she is a great mentor. I really enjoyed her classes and the motivation I get from her and from her classes is incredible. I highly recommend to everyone new to this club to try attending the classes with Stella, I’m sure you will not be disappointed! She is a star! That’s why her name is Stella which in Italian means star. Thank you again! Looking forward to more classes!

Negative experience: Went in to enquire about certain facilities they offer and the two receptionists were leaning back on there chairs like I was bothering there peace and quiet...they need training on customer service and reception duties...who hired them.??? Rude and Disrespectful attitude and no people skills and very bad attitudes...they need challenging on their behaviour or do they get away with it due to political correctness I wonder???...why are they there getting paid a wage?...is it just in case the barrier doesn't work for the self serve app for entrance???

Negative experience: Firstly, I play squash here, I have noticed that the courts need some attention, some patches on the front wall make the ball bounce oddly & also courts are generally untidy. Secondly, a major let down as mentioned by others, the staff at this center (specially at reception) are in need of significant improvement. Their behavior often is bad/uncivil. In my opinion the staff at the center must get proper training to learn how to treat customers with respect and professionalism.

Negative experience: I am expressing my disappointment with the Canons Leisure Centre in Mitcham due to the staff's repeated rude and dismissive behavior, particularly towards customers who identify as certain groups. I have personally experienced and witnessed this discriminatory treatment, where staff members make sarcastic and condescending remarks, creating a hostile environment. This behavior makes me and others feel unwelcome at the Cannon Center, where they should be able to enjoy their time without fear of discrimination or racism.

Positive experience: Canons leisure centre is a lovely community centre for the community and so therefore isn’t perfect

Negative experience: Extremely rude person behind that desk appalling customer service shouting and being rude for no reason whatsoever ridiculous.

Negative experience: The 2 stars are for the facilities, I’ve been here a few years and my kids use this centre for swimming classes too. It would be nice if staff could say hello more, as prices are increasing the quality in customer service is not getting better. Staff are very cliquey and seem to only talk to their ‘mates’ which is quite unfair and not inclusive practice!

Negative experience: Reception staffers are racisms & they are very rude talk . They are lying with our bookings. They think we are stupid because she said you can scan the barcode for the times you booking but how they doing gym there isn’t any time restrictions.

Negative experience: I have been playing football at Canons Leisure centre since 2018 but unfortunately in the last year or so patches of the artificial turf have deteriorated to the point that the base is completely exposed. This makes the football bobble during games and may cause serious injuries to players. One of the two pitches has now been permanently closed due to its poor state and the other one is getting just as bad. The pattern of deterioration is the same as if someone is riding a vehicle over the turf. I suspect that this is a result of poor management as the gates to the pitches are often left unlocked meaning anyone can wander on to them, regardless of whether they have a booking or not. Litter is often found all over the pitches, especially at the beginning of the day. It's a real shame as Canons used to have the best pitches in the area but it seems like management of the leisure centre no longer cares.

Negative experience: The cleaning woman dose not care you are trying to workout or running, she mop the floor where you actually exercising. So unprofessional and disturbing

Positive experience: Good gym for the area. Spacious and with a good pool and lots of fitness classes. Worth a membership. I can use 3 of them in Merton and I book classes here when I don't get a place in Morden gym. Classes are great and teachers also,reason classes are fully booked very quickly.

Fantastic experience: Took my canon here to fire at will, absolutely loved it.

Negative experience: Workers are proper b1tches, mostly just the ones of a certain demographic, you’d think it’s just the female ones but NO the men are sassy as well, some are nice, I appreciate these people trying to do their job but they’re not really good at it and rude, don’t come here, overpriced much better options

Negative experience: Dirty changing rooms, showers and toilets. Machines in the gym don't work and pools are dirty. Receptionist staff just eat at the desk and play on their phones - not helpful at all! The blonde lady at receptionist called Claire is very rude and exhibited disgusting behaviour towards members.

Positive experience: has been good for my son so he is more active,the disable change room is fine the shower head can be improved the water goes everywhere so i do not use it the staff are friendly.

Negative experience: The lady in reception with the blonde long hair is very roud. I have asked her to take my around the building and she refused. I also asked her how can I be a member and her reply it was only go online. I explained to her that I am not familiar with electronic media and she she ask your friends. She was more busy to discuss with her colleagues rather than help me how to be a member. After that I come back another time, a month later to speak to another staff and she was there the same lady. She saw me. I was waiting for so long and even didn't ask me if I was OK. Compered to Streatham Ice Leisure Centre these people here are very roud and rough. I used the toilets too and was discussed I'm very disappointed.

Negative experience: Originally I gave this place 4 stars. However , through time I have realised this place is below par to some degree. The staff are somewhat attentive, and try to help out where they can. I must say I did see one staff member diluting antibacterial spray with water, which I found really off putting . Don’t they know that diluting antibacterial spray removes its antibacterial properties ? The gym is spacious and not crowded, which is a huge plus. I’ve never had to wait for any of the machines. However the showers and the changing rooms are a big let down, as they stink and look somewhat neglected, or more so not cleaned properly. I had an issue with the stair master machine not working for weeks on end. It was not fixed. The Wi-Fi was also not working for weeks which meant I had to use my data. This was a huge disappointment. The lift is always broken which restricts disabled or handicapped members from coming regularly. The gym also closes very early which is frustrating. If this gym was 24 hrs it would be unbeatable. The gym membership includes access to the pool which is handy, and there is a locker available for 20p. The equipment in the gym is varied and clean. Staff at reception have a reputation for having an attitude and being dismissive. This is somewhat true. One last thing to note is that the centre is in a secluded area and can be very scary at night if you are walking alone. It’s not very well lit besides the car park, and there is no CCTV operation either.

Negative experience: The ladies changing room smell so bad, before I used to go at Wadon purly one , I just started at canon from 1 week but very dis appointed as it need to improve cleanliness.

Negative experience: Clean and tidy facilities. However, the children pool is too cold for my child.

Negative experience: Poor sevice and Pool facilities - Paid for a membership mainly to use the pool. Found that at sessions no lane enforcement in place so you have kids and people who cant swim in the assigned full length lanes. Also consider it very dangerous as they allow anyone into the deep side of the pool and just put a wrist band on them even when clearly struggling to stay afloat in that side of the pool. Pool is very unclean - sand, plasters, rubbish floating in it and they always over subscribed how many people are in the pools leading to a claustrophobic and dangerous environment with no enforced booking times. Also people allowed to bring in and throw around anything they want in the pool - No manager available on site to speak too regarding concerns - have raised a complaint and asked for a full refund on my membership

Positive experience: Woman at the front desk is clearly miserable in her job (really short grey curly hair) no hello, didn't make eye contact or anything. She shouldn't be working with the public. No concession prices!?!? How are you going to encourage people to get fit if they can't afford it. Lifeguards were friendly - said hello Pool is a nice temperature. It's a nice leisure centre.

Positive experience: Canons Leisure centre for has made me so welcome, especially Ella at the reception. The staff are helpful and encouraging, the centre facilities and equipment are in good condition and easy to access. I enjoy each session that I attend and is always looking forward to return.

Negative experience: Price is so ridiculously high for such dated venue. Some staff are rather rude and careless. When customers are still using the facilities, they were there tidying up, making enormous loud noises that made everybody jump, repeatedly! And even worse, used it right before closing of business for the day , a male member of staff just casually walked into female changing room without even knocking. I understand you are desperate to go home, but it is basic manner and common sense to knock before entering the opposite sex’s changing room!

Positive experience: Good facilities. Place kept very tidy. Has swimming pool, badminton, squash. All for very good prices. Only thing it doesn't have is a sauna!

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym - came here to use my better membership as Streatham no longer on it. Great kit and loads of racks. Excellent gym for lifting. Kept tidy and plenty of weights for everyone. Free parking too.

Negative experience: Impossible to book anything because they never answer the phone. They stopped doing family sessions. Shame.

Negative experience: If you were playing badminton the lighting isn’t very good and the water fountain near the hall is terrible as it takes about 5 minutes to fill up a 2l water bottle. The staff are not very kind and don’t acknowledge you when you try to get through the entrance gates. The changing rooms are filthy and pools have so much rubbish in them it makes u ill to swim in there.

Positive experience: Play 5 a side here. Pitches are covered so no fence climbing to retrieve balls and pitches are in good condition. Change over times could be better supervised....

Positive experience: Very family orientated leisure centre. Heated swimming pool, toddlers and parents provision. Indoor tennis court and babington court available. Free parking and free disable parking spaces.

Negative experience: Reading the reviews here and I’m laughing! It’s true the old lady at reception is horrific. The changing rooms are poor and for the showers…. Well I won’t be returning. Oh and there is no changing tables in the males changing rooms. In this day and age this should be corrected.

Negative experience: Not a bad gym but room for a lot of improvement, especially given the price increase since I last joined. The opening times could be much better. 4pm closing between 28th-30th December? Why? It's ridiculous and means those of us still working can't go. Usual weekend times are also poor (6pm on Sundays isn't good enough). Some things haven't changed: there are still a bunch of flies and insects in one of the mens changing rooms.

Negative experience: Squash courts extremely dirty with balls of dust in every corner. Gym is ok but not enough plates and very poor closing times for a gym, toilets sometimes are closed an hour before closing time.

Positive experience: Really lovely place. The 4 stars are only because there are no family changing rooms which I didn't know before coming. I was coming with my husband and 6 months old and 3 year old. I couldn't leave my 6 months old whilst helping my 3 year old for swimming so it made changing very stressful for us but other than that very nice place. We will be coming again. I love summer outdoor activities centre organised and soft play on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Negative experience: Today on 19th September 2022, They have written on the website that the gym is open but when I reached here after a long distance, it was closed. They don't even update their website

Fantastic experience: Very clean pool areas and excellent reception staff. This was our first visit and we were very happy with it. We will be back.

Negative experience: Extremely rude, ill-mannered and racist staff. I have booked swim season online after constantly being rejected face to face information at leisure centre and kept saying 'everything is online'. Not enough information on website but when we turned up they refused to allow us in pool due to not correct session booked. Racist staff were not willing to change session and being extremely unhelpful and loud. They were unwilling to refund my money and this is day light robbery. ***IF YOU WANT PLEASANT EXPERIENCE SO AVOID THIS LEISURE CENTRE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE***

Positive experience: After having to navigate the infuriating Better website to book a swimming session for the training pool upon arrival we were told by the rude and unhelpful receptionist that we couldn't use it (not told why, just that we couldn't) When we were changed and at the pool I read the notices and there were clearly less than 30 people in the training pool so I used it with my youngest while my husband and son used the main pool. The smell in the femal changing room was awful. Everyone that entered commented on it and described it as either a urinal or a dirty nappy. The nappy bin was actually overflowing, grim! The pool itself wasn't too bad but with the smell of the changing room and the very unwelcoming and rude receptionist I think I'd rather swim in the Wandle

Fantastic experience: Very clean and nice place for swimming. Kids had a good time

Negative experience: I went to the leisure centre today to enquire about swimming lessons for my child. I have honestly never met such a rude receptionist in my life. She asked if she could help so I said I wanted to ask about swimming lessons and she looked at me like something she had trodden in and didn't even speak to me before looking at the next person and asking if she could help them. Absolutely unreal! I do not recommend this place at all and I certainly would not want my child going there if rude staff like that work there. Never again!

Positive experience: Not bad, daughter goes swimming there, not too sure about the layout. They have a baby pool and an adult pool. Its decent sized pool. Tennis courts and a gym, I will take some pictures next time i go.

Negative experience: It would be ok if it weren't for the extremely rude receptionist who doesn't have any customer service skills at all. Hmm great for a receptionist eh? The pools are good though but I might have to change my membership to another location as that woman on reception is awful and has ruined my enjoyment of the centre.

Fantastic experience: Nice sports venue...most of the staff very friendly . Beware of one. Who is older. And not very friendly at all. If your not careful you will end up wanting to run for the hills. Only because of this persons scariness. But "stay strong" , you will get through it.

Positive experience: Strange layout for changing/lockers/showers that is not easy for parents sharing care of a baby. Dirty around the pool with dust and dead flies and dirty in the pool with plasters and fluff etc round the grates. Steps into the training pool are helpful for carrying babies/children in. Nice staff at the front desk.

Positive experience: Good size area for indoor sports. The gym area upstairs is quite large and full of equipment you would expect. Nice area of CrossFit equipment, 3 concept 2 rowers and a ski erg (which there were some more). But yes overall a good centre.

Positive experience: Pros Parking always available at the times I go Very good circuit class with Yvonnethurs daytime and great strength class just started Cons Ladies swim side showers just has 4 showers of which two are only in cubicle and water flows weakly. Its so difficult during swim school time with kids to shower Bin is exposed in there too. Needs more classes particularly in afternoon on weekends. None run. Would really love a boxing and spinning in day time week days. This makes me consider other places. Tissue missing from gym and studio many times There is no step machine. Also need some s equipment like step level in gym ifn stretching room. Needs some cooler a/c or fans in that room.

Negative experience: Male showers have lots of small flies it seems to be a ongoing issue not good

Positive experience: A nice place which is clean and tidy. Can't write for the gym as I stopped using years ago. Swimming pool nice and ease of parking . Nice little park for the kids to play in, that is well recommended.

Negative experience: Terrible attendance. Reception person very rude. I went with my disabled son and when I arrived to ask about swimming and she just left us talking to ourselves. I felt prejudice on her part. I do not recommend you so as not to go through the embarrassment I went through.

Fantastic experience: Booking a swim for fitness makes so much sense! Cordoned off to swim freely without bumping in to anyone! Always limited spaces too so no overcrowding.

Positive experience: It's a really basic lesuire centre , the gym is missing a lot of equipment that other gyms have , Closing early on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays Staff are very good , Rather expensive for what it offers

Negative experience: I take my baby to swim classes. Teacher is good, but price is too high for level of service. ALSO... The customer service from BETTER is probably one of the worst I have experienced. Tried to call as the app is faulty, they do not have a direct line to Canons, only to main office, which is ridiculous! On the automated phone line I was on hold for 20mins being told “there’s one person in the queue ahead of me” then I get some automated apology and the LINE GOES DEAD... I tried every option through the automated service, every time going straight on hold, sometimes being told there are 2 or 3 callers ahead in the queue, and every time NOBODY ANSWERS and the line goes dead! If you publicise opening hours then you should provide adequate customer service during those hours. Also “Covid” is not an excuse for having no direct line to specific venues. I will be requesting some level of compensation as today I have spent almost 2 hours on hold to just be cut off.

Positive experience: The Gym is good, spacious with good equipment, good badmington courts but changing rooms and shower rooms for the swimming pool needs updating(there are only 4 showers and 1 doesn't work properly), having the showers inside the changing room would make more sense as well. And the receptionist is never a pleasure to encounter, very rude lady.

Positive experience: Generally okay place for a swim or gym. The issues are cleanliness and maintanance - for example in mens shower, there was a missing section in ceiling for a couple of weeks. In regards to cleaning, dressing rooms could cleaner, there are splash marks everywhere on doors, walls etc

Negative experience: The gym is closed on 22nd Dec, no information was shared through email or there wasn’t any note left at reception. I traveled 15min to get to your club, then went to Mitcham Club where I found the note left on door (closed on 22nd for annual stuff training day). Then I went to Sutton to find out I can’t use my club card there any more, and need to pay for my session. I thought I paid already through my memebership, are you allowed to take my days off and request money for using the gym in another club which is open? Telephone service is rubbish too, recorded message saying the club is closed until 5th of January lol

Fantastic experience: Over 50 club and leisure centre .with swimming and exercise classes . Nice to be a member very welcoming .

Positive experience: I like this gym, nice atmosphere, spacious and good equipment. My only complaint is the price has gone up but it closes earlier. I now have to pay for swimming and fitness classes both of which I'll never use. Closing at 5 on a Saturday and Sunday is slightly unfair given the rise in monthly cost. Maybe consider keeping it open until 8 on those days.

Fantastic experience: Spend a lot of time here gym and Mt favourite swimming ‍♂️

Negative experience: Horrible reception. Some younger lady with a guy on the reception did not really want to work over the weekend. Ignoring my calls and treating me very badly when I arrived. I must say, there is a lady that was nice and helpful but those two on the weekend made me stop coming.

Positive experience: Went to watch grandson at tennis club. Didn’t want to sit down. Must of got wet in some flooding.
