The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Very good
Positive experience: I am a member of another centre of the Better group so visited this one as a one off. The pool is lovely. Perfect temperature, nice and big with great piped music (easy listening) The showers were hot and clean, the changing cubicles clean. The pool seemed clean but once in, it looked liked the sides need a good scrub. Parking is plentiful and free for 3 hours but you have to enter your reg details at reception. The staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't visit gym so can't comment
Negative experience: Pay for a single use before you sign up. It’s disgusting in there. Some bleach and some new sealant will go along way in that place.
Negative experience: Over priced for less than an hours swim not that you can get a swim as there's always a competition or event on in the tiny pool. it seems to be more of a business than a public leisure centre these days.
Fantastic experience: Very good value for money leisure centre. Awesome place. Must take a membership
Positive experience: Changing facilities used by all, open showers to water down before entering pool, and only 2 closed for privacy. Very busy fitness club. Coins are required for lockers (wristband keys). Pre bookings are essential.
Fantastic experience: Great facility
Fantastic experience: My daughter goes here for swimming and clean pool good faculty highly recommend this facility
Fantastic experience: I like it
Fantastic experience: Nice. Fresh. Clean. looks still new. very clean soft play.
Negative experience: Terrible Customer Treatment – Stay Away! I used to be a regular paying customer at Queens Diamond Jubilee Centre, but after my recent experience, I will never set foot there again. They’ve chosen to work with a predatory parking company that seems to exist solely to fine honest customers. I received a parking fine in the mail despite being a customer, and the appeal process was a joke. They asked me to send proof via post, which I did, using first-class postage. Conveniently, they claim to have never received it and are now charging me £100 instead of £60. It’s outrageous that management allows these vultures to prey on hard-working people like this. To the decision-makers: do you sleep well knowing you’re treating your customers like this? Absolute scum. Avoid this place if you value your time and money!
Positive experience: Very clean, plenty of amenities, staff very friendly & helpful. Plenty of parking. Visited specifically for the children's soft play area, it's one of the best soft plays we've been too, only reason I've knocked one star off is that the under 3's bit could do with being a bit bigger but the variety of activities in it were spot on.
Fantastic experience: Customer service great. Eleanor is very funny and super helpful and patients she got me all set up and sorted in seconds. Felt like speaking to a friend rather than an employee. Lovely stuff
Fantastic experience: Good swiming pool, sauna and steam, membership no needed (book online)
Fantastic experience: My son is having private 1-2-1 swimming lessons with Emma and wow she is absolutely fantastic. He’s only had 3 lessons so far but wow the improvement he’s made already is incredible. She is so good with him and he is really loving his lessons with her! Would definitely recommend x
Positive experience: Very expensive for just a swim.
Fantastic experience: Gyereknap lehetett, sok programmal. Tetszett a gyerekeknek. Aztán eleredt az eső. Lehetne pár darab mind két oldalon olyan pavilon ahol be tudnánk az esőben szaladni. Pár padot is kitehetnének a szülőknek. Mindenkinek ajánlom ezt a szép gondozott helyet.
Positive experience: mid gym
Fantastic experience: Good atmosphere and friendly service. Great place for a swim
Fantastic experience: Polite staff and good customer service over all good
Fantastic experience: Decent gym and swimming place
Fantastic experience: Childrens party in the play area. Great fun, the kids loved being busy having fun.
Fantastic experience: Had a 3rd birthday party in the soft play area. Perfectly safe, separate area for food. Food boxes included contained the things kids like to eat, so no waste. Staff very helpful and attentive, making sure we had jugs of drinks througgout the time we were there. A great value for money hassle free party. Would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Good gym, pool, sauna and steam room facilities. Exercise classes there too. Decent vibes. It's pretty much next to a giant park
Fantastic experience: The staff are extremely helpful, the facilities are well maintained. Regulars are a lovely bunch. My visits are their own reward!
Fantastic experience: Took the Grandkids to the soft play area was really good kids enjoyed it
Fantastic experience: A really great leisure centre, with fantastic swimming pools and nice, clean changing areas.
Negative experience: Alright facilities, it’s my mother’s gym, but the guys behind the desk are clueless. Took a while to figure out how much everything cost, then after paying for swimming and gym, pool wasn’t available due to swimming lessons, so I told the other guy, who seemed to think it’s acceptable to tell me to go read their booking policy online. Wasted £7.50.
Fantastic experience: Great place clean and staff happy to help.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities for swim events!
Positive experience: We went to a family swim session. The children's pool was cool, not over crowded and a bit dull.
Fantastic experience: Great place to go for a swim. There are swimming lessons available. Kids pool with an adjustable floor and heater. Adults pool that can have lanes at times. There is a free swim session and at this time a single swim lane is also offered if you want to practice properly. Seats up stairs so you can spectate the swimmers below. Changing rooms aren't always clean but you are guaranteed to find one! Showers are also available although sometimes you might wait a while. There is a cafe to grab a quick drink and snack! There is also a gym and a sports hall which is available to rent out for parties or to play badminton.
Fantastic experience: Nice place for workout.
Negative experience: Been here 3 times to soft play and first time I got a refund as my toddler got trampled on by older children that shouldn't have been in the toddler section. Unfortunately some parents don't bother watching their children at all. Second time was fine in term time. 3rd time today lots of larger children again in toddler section. Sat onto of blocks 3ft high just hovering precariously over babies and toddlers. Then a larger boy aged 6-8 started jumping off the top of the slide in the toddler section. The parents don't care and the staff in the centre are not ever in there to police it. Im writing this review in the hope they start at least having a member of staff in there. They should say to parents that they cannot go in the toddler section. Unfortunately if you have toddlers or babies don't go at the weekend or out of term time as its downright dangerous as it is. Shame as its nice
Positive experience: Pool is lovely, soft play a tad expensive, but what soft play isn't these days?
Fantastic experience: Smart, clean and tidy centre. Great facilities lots of classes. Had a coffee in the excellent cafe
Negative experience: Dead
Fantastic experience: It the best Jim I have been to the induction is very good
Fantastic experience: Great leisure cemtre, fantastic facilities. Friendly staff
Fantastic experience: I've been a member since last year. Great facilities and fitness classes. Always clean and very affordable. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: They have a really good soft play here . I'd recommend looking at the booking slots before you go just to judge how many people will be there . It can get busy .
Negative experience: Was charged £10 for 50 mins gym session... scandalous and daylight robbery...seen more free weights in Lidl Avoid Avoid Avoid
Fantastic experience: The gym has a varied amount of different exercise machines and weights. Sometimes have to wait to get on certain ones. Overall its very clean and tidy. Phil the guy that deals with referrals from the gp is lovely and very helpful. I was really anxious about going and he really helped me to continue the pool downstairs looks clean and tidy too. Personally I prefer the old children's pool before it was refurbished. The staff on re option are also lovely. My only grumble would be the mirrors in the changing room are to high for me to use. So if your a short person I'd take one with you
Positive experience: My daughters attend the swimming class and they both enjoy it. The groups are a bit too big. Like 10 children per group
Fantastic experience: Best leisure centre I've ever been to, will recommend
Positive experience: Walked in today and it looked closed . All chairs up on tables. No Christmas decorations up even though it was the 27th of December. Part from that was a good session
Negative experience: Don't come here for new years resolution because the gym is heaving with school kids and very busy, apart from that it is an ok gym.
Negative experience: Bad gym, dont come for new years resolution
Fantastic experience: Used the new soft play area and it was lovely. Clean and safe with a good sized separate area for 0-3 year olds, with lots of things to keep them occupied.
Fantastic experience: Recent Arena League west midlands finals. Nice venue and good facilities, shame there are no touch pads for the timing board to work.
Positive experience: A good gym, with 2 swimming pools. Water is a bit on the cold side ( management says it is to meet competition criteria). But the kids seems to always shiver when out of the water. A newish softplay and again no heating (on a he cold side of the gym).
Positive experience: Great place overall, friendly staff, good facilities. But pool is sooooo cold, it takes 20mins to warm up, would be helpful if an area of the pool was warm and they put the temperature displays back on would have been 4* otherwise…
Fantastic experience: The soft play area is great for multiple age groups. It was clean and tidy. It was great to see staff around cleaning and they were also friendly.
Fantastic experience: I love it
Fantastic experience: Nice place where one can exercise and relax in the cafe afterwards. Affordable prices of food and drinks
Fantastic experience: Good place to go with kids. Has two swimming pools and sauna.
Fantastic experience: Dobry basen, przez ostatnie juz kilkanaście lat, przeplynolem tam setki kometrow
Negative experience: Card only establishment which I totally disagree with. I won't be back. Went in the new soft play. Ok for under 6s really and not under 11 as stated. People were not leaving at the end of their time slots and the seating was benches and long tables and families were taking over the whole area so very limited seating!
Fantastic experience: Spacious, open and bright. There are leg machines for every muscle, numerous cardio machines, and plenty of upper-body machines. There are many fitness classes to choose from. If you plan well, you can have the gym to yourself. The staff are always helpful, especially a boy named Jordan. He checked me in and was always helpful, humble and smiling.
Positive experience: The first time I have been here since it was the Ken Marriott many moons ago. It was very clean and not over crowded, although it would have been nice if they had something more fun for the kids, it's certainly not the same as when they had the Screamer water slide, but saying that the kids still had a fun time
Fantastic experience: The drop in badminton session was well attended with a variety of levels. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.
Negative experience: Not the best facilities a little dated and lacking in quality. The gym weights area is very limited and cramped. Pool times are restricted, although i had an anytime pass? The pool and gym need to be prebooked via app, although they seem very quiet, No luxury is very basic. a shame for a building like that was expecting more. Somewhat disappointed
Positive experience: It's not like the old days anymore... Used to turn up at the baths, give the man at the kiosk a couple quid, go swim for an hour. These days there are memberships and apps and booking a set 50 minute time slot and booking is online only and then when you get there, speaking to a person anyway who books you in on their computer and then opens the gate. Infuriating compared to the simplicity of the before times when people and businesses could function without apps and the internet. They do at least just have free WiFi in the centre.... but guess what.. you need a membership and an account with sky cloud or some nonsense and then to open the WiFi setting and sign into both to access the WiFi. Ugh. I just want to go back to the 90s "I'd like to go swimming please." "That'll be £2.50" "Thanks" As for the center itself. It's fine. Clean enough. Small cafe, slightly over priced, but not outrageous. (£2 for a small bottle of Coke though, £1.25 in the Co-Op that's 5 mk Ute's up the road...)
Fantastic experience: Just been for a family swim with my husband and granddaughter (5) she accidentally caught her earring in her life jacket and was a little upset. The lifeguard Erin was a superstar and managed to cut her free so we could enjoy the rest of the session. Thanks for your quick work Erin you certainly saved the day!
Negative experience: I rarely leave reviews, even for disgruntled experiences elsewhere, as I am so aware of how the post pandemic work has affected staff availability and general customer service. However, when it’s so simple to do things correctly and leave a great impression I felt the need to pass the feedback on. I brought my boys here for swimming after having seen online that there was an inflatable swim session on. The receptionist told me there was no swimming available when we arrived. I asked whether they could access the session I knew was occurring and she then said yes, checked their ages, advised that they needed to go and get changed and then make themselves known for a swimming test. Safety is priority so I completely understand the need for this - although why would I put my children at risk if they weren’t confident swimmers. They got to poolside and sat for a good 10 minutes waiting. I got the attention of a lifeguard (one of 4!!) and asked how long they were expected to wait. She very abruptly said that the session started 30 minutes prior and therefore there would be a wait. I said that I had paid for the session and she continued to just be rude in her responses - I’m sure from her point of view it’s annoying for me to be questioning something she has the information about, but I didn’t! The receptionist didn’t advise this. One of 4 lifeguards could have watched them swim the length of the pool. The lack of sufficient information here began the frustrations. At one point the boys jumped off the inflatable in a way that others had been doing and/or falling off in a similar manner, to a whistle blow. Not sure how a jump is putting anyone at risk on a session that’s designed to be fun…? All staff seem very bored to be there and not interested in conducting their roles with any excellence.
Positive experience: Took our grandchildren to a lesson on the climbing wall, all four children thoroughly enjoyed the lessons. It is such a great shame that we don't live in Rugby or we would definitely be booking lessons there !!!
Positive experience: In the gym, there is often out of order
Positive experience: Good
Fantastic experience: Very good sports centre with many things to do
Fantastic experience: I only use the swimming pool/sauna but it’s always kept clean. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Positive experience: The pools are nice, but the soft play area is really small.
Positive experience: Bit disappointed with the organisation, the staff are friendly but the management could direct them better. Difficult to get through to them on the phone, not that easy on email either. We had staff members chatting to each other resolving a postage issue rather than providing the required safety supervision!
Fantastic experience: Great place for swimming and all other activities... Also a park across...
Fantastic experience: Good gym and facilities!! lovely staff!!
Fantastic experience: Very neat and clean facility, I enjoyed swimming.
Positive experience: Main pool is a bit chilly for play swim but perfect for exercise. Decent cafe and always clean. Staff are friendly and approachable. Studio pool is good for young children and is warmer.
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool with sessions for both adults and kids
Fantastic experience: Clean and efficiently run centre
Positive experience: Fun fitness lessons.
Fantastic experience: Decent place , nothing to complain about. Big enought place for a parking facility.
Negative experience: Probably the worst gym I ever went to, machine broken for 6-7 months, opening hours changed and prices went up. Staff very rude time to time. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Negative experience: Very poor schedule published littered with mistakes, leading to poor public access. Staff ignorantly made out that it was the users error , until I insisted on a manager and asked they looked at their website. After two attempts to access returned home with an upset autistic kid. Having programs is understandable, but public access in various degrees should be available at all times.
Negative experience: Poorly managed despite the teams best efforts. The same equipment they had 2 years ago but double the price. 12 month membership price is simply 1 months membership fee times 12? Miss the Ken marriot, these jokers haven't a clue how to run a facility catering to a declining market town
Fantastic experience: Great place great staff.
Negative experience: the worst team the most worst place for children! I had a very bad situation with them ! I will try to be very brief… my children were members of swimming classes the day has come to go swimming with my 3-year-old child and I took my daughter of 7 years and 11 months with me because she was on holiday from school we have nowhere to leave and I thought that she would be waiting for me in the hall I could see her ! they did not allow me to enter in the water with the child because the girl is not eight years old and is not allowed to be alone ! Really!!!! She is nearly 8 !!! why ? why ? you have to pay for swimming lessons but you can't use it because you have another child it is your problem what you are doing with your kids!!! mainly to pay !!! this is our rules!!! The manager was very rude , crude by name Zak!!! I was thinking of canceling membership a long time ago because it is waist of money too much kids in groups 0 potential for kids very cold water! the changing rooms smell horrible!!! if you have children, think many times before taking them there!!!
Negative experience: Don't take your kids to the soft play area unless you want them to get a stomach bug like my one year old did. The place is very dirty and doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned. The mattresses and all the toys are just put back in the storage area at the end of the day- without anything being cleaned, including the inflatable castle. Shocking, as this is for small kids and not for dogs! Never taking my child to this place ever again. Management, sort this out as kids are getting sick!! Edit- after complaining at the centre about the lack of hygiene, the manager kindly explained that they clean the soft play area once a month as that's their policy. ONCE A MONTH!!! How is this supposed to be enough??!! It's for kids from 6 months onwards!!! This must change. Management, review your policy and update me on what's been done to improve this issue.
Positive experience: I really miss the staff on the front desk, it feels much more impersonal now.
Negative experience: Lessons were repetitive and unproductive. Almost 1year on and hardly any progress. Different swim teacher nearly every other week mu
Fantastic experience: Great customers service
Hi Nawar, thank you for your great review!
Negative experience: staff kept lying to me about membership and wasted so much of my time and money
Hi Sandra, I'm sorry to see you are not happy with your experience at centre. Please could you provide me with further details on this via email at [email protected] and i will do my best to help you further.
Negative experience: Good swimming but since COVID you can't book a family ticket so now it's almost £7 more expensive. Really not very family oriented and if you ring it says they are a charitable company
Negative experience: Extremely rude unprofessional staff. No phones to reach them and they don't take any responsibility for their faults! Keep away, they are not trust worthy especially with kids. Update: how could I discuss this further with you if you don't have telephone number or any other way of communication?! If you are really interested and willing to resolve the issue, you have my contact information!
Hi Shymaa. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I understand you were disappointed with your child's progress in swimming lessons and we are more than happy to discuss this with you further, however, to achieve the best possible outcome from the swimming lessons we do recommend the children attend lessons each week. Our swimming lessons run 50 weeks a year. As the largest leisure provider in the UK, we take the safety of all of our pupils very seriously and have strict procedures in place, however, we are happy to discuss any concerns you have. Kind regards, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Centre.
Negative experience: Lost yet another customer as customer service is dismal and head office staff are rude as anything
Hello Arraby. I am sorry to hear you were dissapointed with your experience here. If you'd like to give more details of your issues i would be more than happy to help. Thanks, QDJC team.
Negative experience: Difficult place, no service and impossible. Staff have attitude issues. Check the reviews
Hi Imran, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear you chose to go elsewhere. If you change your mind, you can always join us online at better.org.uk. Thanks, QDJC
Negative experience: The actual swimming centre is okay if you go at weekends. During the weekdays they have the lines up as if it's a fitness gym swim and not just a swim for all even though it says it was on the booking information. And if you book and cancel that booking 5 days in advance they still take your money. Not going again just in case another emergency happens and they take another £20.
Hi Amy. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We have lanes in when it is a Swim for Fitness session. During Swim for All, we just have one double lane and the rest of the pool is open space. Regarding cancellation, if you cancel your booking more than 4 hours in advance you will receive a credit on your account to use against a future booking. I hope this helps. Regards, QDJC
Fantastic experience: Big, open and bright. There is a leg machine for every muscle, plenty of cardio machines and plenty of upper body equipment. Lots of fitness classes to choose from. If you time it well you can have the gym to yourself. Staff are always helpful especially a lad called Jordan. He helped me sign up and is always helpful, humble and smiling.
Negative experience: Staff are horrible. It was our first time and they were rude especially the lifeguards. Disappointing
Hello. Thank you for leaving a review. I am sorry to hear you were dissapointed on your visit here. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and if you would like to provide me with more details of the service you received i would be happy to look into this. Thanks, QDJC
Negative experience: Think it's extremely unfair that you're cashless due to the fact that a lot of people will not be able to use your facilities due either not having a card to pay with or the Internet. Its very unfair on those people
Negative experience: The booking system is a shambles left three. online messages for a call back Telephoned and an operator could not help me book 2 adults and 2 children on my account I hah to get someone else to book one adult and I booked for myself. I was told that the Centre would telephone me but they didn’t. It took several days for me to get a booking. The contact system is no use and the online booking has got serious faults Pauline
Positive experience: Uau
