Negative experience: Filthy changing rooms, a few inches of hair and lots of mud. Raised with reception who said they don’t have a cleaner and haven’t for months. Wow not coming back.

Fantastic experience: Needs a bit of renovation, but plenty of equipment, shower water hot and staff friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Went with a view to join, it's dirty and very outdated. Sauna was bearly warm and the steam and juccuzi were out of order. Changing room was grubby with lockers broken. Showers were very dirty. Was a member back when it was Dragons, then La Fitness, and it doesn't look like it has had any money spent on it since then and has really gone down hill.

Fantastic experience: I went in to see what they offer and the lovely lady on reception was extremely helpful, I can't praise her enough. I will definitely be taking up one of their payment options. Many thanks

Negative experience: First time there. Found the place dirty and ramshackled whilst charging David Lloyd prices. Clay courts are the worse I’ve ever played on and it just seems the tennis player pays through the nose, and that’s if you can get a court. I’m a tennis coach with years of experience and I won’t be going back.

Positive experience: The place doesn’t look bad at all, customer care is very low , tried to call them 2 times no answer.

Negative experience: Awfull place, so dirty and dated. Changing rooms smells, floor dirty, showers broken, discusting curtains. Pool is so dirty, green patches around it, made me fell sick taking my baby for swimming lesson, would never go back, shocking is still open!!! Avoid!!

Negative experience: Attended an open day with a view to joining, only to find sauna, hot tub and steam room have all been broken and not repaired since before covid according to reception.

Negative experience: Disgusting place I don’t think the pool has ever been cleaned, the past year I’ve been here there has been piles of dirt build up in the corner of the pool under water. Shower are all broken and covered in mould. Changing rooms the ceiling is falling in never cleaned. The whole place is an embarrassment and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Positive experience: Needs more explanation as to what is and isn't running or available for use when go, went swimming and no access to dive boards no waves yet all advertised... Charge same price though

Negative experience: I joined this gym not really looking closely at how dirty and filthy this gym is,the actual gym I didn’t mind and understand but the changing rooms and showers are disgusting,beyond filthy and when I asked if their going to be cleaned I was laughed at by a member of staff and was then told by another that their done every day,went in the next day nothing had changed the whole place needs a deep deep clean and you have to tippie toe back from the only one shower that works and smells of sewage because the drains for the showers haven’t been cleaned out in a very long time,I have received my money back for my membership which is a shame as this could be a really good gym if it was just cleaned and maintained better

Positive experience: Would have liked it better if the place was updated. Price is cheaper for 1 day pass but I would have paid more if the place was updated because it's generally a nice place. Wet room was not working which was disappointing but the sauna was there. Pool was nice and warm. Jacuzzi was not available either so was disappointing...

Positive experience: A bit worn but the staff are lovely and really friendly members .. Pool and sauna are very rarely crowded so good for peaceful swimming and relaxation But really needs a make over on certain facilities ..

Fantastic experience: Some of the machines are a little outdated, but do what you need them to. The jacuzzi has been shut for a while, along with the steam room. However, the friendly staff, who always greet you with a smile, pool, and sauna, make up for it. The membership is not bad for a facility with a pool and sauna and tennis courts and food bar. They just need the jacuzzi back on in good working order . It has a nice atmosphere with very little overcrowding, and not many youngsters who sit at the machines texting. Parking is free and right outside the facility. A little cash injection to update the machines wouldn't go a miss. But overall, I really enjoy this club. Well done, guys.

Positive experience: I visited to see if I wanted to rejoin this gym. I previously was a member when it was Dragons gym, and then LA fitness. I was surprised and disappointed that it looked grubby in the changing room and showers. There was a very rusty post in the swimming pool area - it's like nothing had been updated for years. But, a big but, staff were very friendly and helpful. The cafe area inviting, and the gym well equipped. The pool was warm as was the sauna. Other spa areas were turned off due to high energy costs (same as another local gym) but after visiting the other local facilities, I will be returning to Freedom for a swim each week as it was very welcoming and affordable.

Negative experience: The facilities could do with upgrading . The jacuzzi wasn't working the steam room wasn't working the shower men's showers are in need of repair .

Negative experience: Needs an update. Come for the kids swim classes but the facilities are lacking and temp is always too cold in the pool. Showers too hot. Spa facilities are under maintenance since covid. The sauna and steam are working at time of review but the hot tub is empty and yellow and therfore needs a good clean. Fine for a kids class but I wouldn't be a member unless I'm an avid tennis player.

Positive experience: New member, don't like the whole gym ethos. But needs must, I have a very bad back and wanted a gym with a sensible pool. So 1st day today did 20 minutes on x trainer and 660 meters in the pool and found everything great. Staff very good, equipment good pool and changing facilities as you would expect. No complaints for the price.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, soft play with ice slides included. Our daughter loves it so much that we have booked her birthday party there for later this year. If like us you book on an open day, you will often get a discount. Highly recommended leisure centre.

Fantastic experience: Amazed at some of the negative reviews on here. Some people love a moan. I joined after trugym shut and I love the place. Very good value and equipment is of a good standard. Also not usually too busy. Friendly atmosphere. Im finding im training more as a result I also take my little girl swimming there most Sundays.

Positive experience: Great place to have a tennis practice but unsure about how its synthetic clay surface stands up to the real thing. I've played on actual clay courts in Carlsbad Ca, but is been a while. With that said. This club has great amenities like a quaint but nice bar/Cafe with a pool and full fitness club. This is the home of Maidstone Tennis Academy and features indoor tennis courts as well.

Negative experience: How is this gym is business! Ex trugym members they are offering a 4 day pass at first you think pool sauna hot tub what could go wrong. Filthy I have never seen such a dirty gym mould on walls showers look like you’ll catch a disease no shower gel in showers rotten Never seen a cleaner Do not join!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Good relax in Swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi

Negative experience: Very disappointed with this place, especially because of the lack of communication and interest from the swimming pool management / team. My son was attending swimming lessons since September 2021. Everything was fine till February this year. Classes were constantly cancelled for different reasons, long weeks waiting for refunds (if any), very poor customer service and communication. I had to chase them to get my money back for the lessons I've paid, but never took place - of course, no response or silly explanations that "it takes time and I have to wait"..... It's May and I'm still waiting for couple of refunds from February!!! If you are looking for nice place to send your child to learn how to swim and if you don't want to loose your money (and your temper) choose different leisure centre to avoid disappointment. Extremely unprofessional!!!! For me, very unpleasant experience... Strongly not recommended

Negative experience: Moja ocena dotyczy jedynie basenu. Woda zimna, brudna. Nikt nie kontroluje tego co się tam dzieje. Ludzie nie przestrzegają podstawowych zasad higieny - nie biorą prysznica przed wejściem do basenu, ale najgorsze, że nikt z obsługi tego nie pilnuje. Pełno włosów pływa w wodzie, dzieci wchodzą do wody z plastrami, które później pływają po całym basenie. Porozrzucane papierki, bardzo brudna podloga- na boso nie da rady tam przejść. Po prostu przeobrzydliwe prysznice, całe w pleśni i brudzie. Steam room śmierdzi kanalizacja, a w saunie drzazgi wbijają się w ciało. Toaleta na obszarze basenu strasznie brudna i nawet drzwi się nie zamykają. W szatniach to samo- śmieci wysypują się ze śmietników, brudna podłoga. Obsługa w ogóle nie dba o czystość, przez 2 miesiące ani razu nie widziałam, żeby ktokolwiek myl tam podłogę. W dodatku niby są wyznaczone godziny na szkole pływania, niestety trenerzy nie pilnują terminarza i często nauki odbywają się w czasie wolnym od zajęć. Radzę trzymać się z dala od tego brudnego miejsca.

Negative experience: Booked for aqua class in advance and on the day my name was not on the list of those who had booked. Staff at reception turned out incredibly rude. After about 10 minutes of being bullied I must have done something wrong, they let me in still they did not pass my name to the swimming instructor who was then shouting there were too many people in the class! I thought I was going to have a relaxing time instead I experienced distress! Facilities are basic and ok.

Negative experience: My wife and I take our children swimming to Freedom Leisure Maidstone. The staff are always lovely, the lady at the Cafe is funny and helpful, however the mens changing rooms are horrible and freezing. The showers don't often have hot water, the best you can hope for is mildly warm. Our two children are often so cold when leaving the swimming pool that they no longer enjoy going swimming. The dads each week have given up complaining and he just have a joke at how bad it is with a few dads opting to take their children swimming lessons elsewhere despite having a great swimming program here. If the management would be as kind to put some heating in the changing rooms that would be an amazing start.

Fantastic experience: A super leisure centre - pool and spa really nice. I often get the pool to myself if I go around lunchtime. Good value and pay as you go option - no membership tie ins!

Fantastic experience: Love this place. Joined two months ago and the lack of gym posers is highly refreshing. If you want to get on with working out with decent equipment, have a swim or play tennis this an ideal club, although is a bit tucked away so you may not even know it exists. But its really central and located right next to Whatman Park making it even more perfect if you have kids to keep occupied

Positive experience: I have gone with 3 stars as I only used the swimming pool which was very nice and well maintained, but the changing rooms could do with refurbishing. The staff were friendly, the gym facilities looked in good condition with plenty of machines. If I was local I would consider this an option to be my regular gym, and not just for the gym but also for the nice view from the car park.

Negative experience: When I first started out at this gym I informed them I was a serving soldier and may need to cancel the contract at short notice which They said was fine. Luckily I didn’t need to go away for the two years my contract was signed for with no mention of it changing in anyway after the contract ends. My contract ended in April 18 in April 18 I also deployed to the Falklands islands, because this was a bit of a short notice deployment (I found out two weekend before I was meant to go) and with my gym contract ending that month I thought it was perfect timing. Until May and then June when freedom fitness proceeded to take money from my account. When I got back this week I went to freedom fitness to see what had gone on. “Oh when contracts end they turn into a rolling month contract” the useless receptionist replied. I asked if that was written in to the contract (he didn’t know), I also didn’t receive an email about my contract ending and it going on to a rolling on. So I cancelled it then and there and the ordasity of this place, he then tells me that it’s a months notice to cancel (even though it was now a months rolling contract) but he was happy to inform me that I could use the gym up until 31/7 I don’t think I will be.

Positive experience: We take the kids to swimming classes here. They are doing some renovations here. The showers are bit grotty.

Positive experience: I like the pay as you go options and it’s good value but seems pretty run down now and the staff are disengaged. The PT in the gym seems professional and friendly. Timetable good and classes I have attended I have enjoyed. Just needs some tidying up and staff training.

Negative experience: Last year January I joined this gym. I was offered a £31/month for 12 month and £26 for an 18 month contract. I said to the lady offering me these options I join if I can have the 1 year contract for £26 per month. She said yes. They took £31 for the first payment. I called in and was promised everything will be fine and they will refund £5 to me. Payments were £26 for a year and now, one year later I wanted to cancel and been told that my contract is 18months long. Asked for manager will see how it goes, but as far as I see now this is a rip-off, don't go there!

Negative experience: Absolutely awful gym and pool! It is totally filthy and been run into the ground to the point where as a long standing member I feel no choice but to leave. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: Used facilities for children's tennis recently, well organised and indoor courts are a blessing in winter. Then had misfortune of £100 parking fine for using their parking! One phone call and staff resolved which was appreciated. Snack bar available too if you wish to undo fitness benefits.
