Better Gym Romford

Fantastic experience: Best gym in Romford. Never busy and can always get on any piece of equipment whenever I want. Peak hours there is like max 10 ppl in the gym and it’s massive so it feels like your the only one there sometimes. Only thing I will say is the machines are like 15 years old and are due an upgrade, also both cable machines atm are broke and have been for about a month, so no idea when those are getting fixed/replaced. Definitely more suitable to people who want to do body weight and free weight exercises as, again my one critique is the machines are pretty poor. But they have a brilliant calesthenics frame and plenty of benches and squat racks. Good selection of dumbbells up to 50kg as standard. It’s just nice and quiet unlike every other gym I’ve been too.

Fantastic experience: Clean, well kept and support provided on request. Good variety and quality of machines and weights. Stretching area, boxing bags, changing rooms (with showers), disabled toilets and a studio are available.

Positive experience: Entrance is in the market square. Not very obvious, but a few feet from home bargains. Google maps did not locate.

Positive experience: This gym is always nice and empty and quite basic so good for beginners but also avid gym goers. Annoying that you have to pay 20p for lockers which are outside of the changing rooms. Otherwise I really enjoy going here :)

Positive experience: Some of the equipment is proper shabby - no no's on some of the weights on machines, big split on the seat of the leg press etc. overall like coming here as it's quiet when I go.

Positive experience: I mainly used the gym facilities of which there was a good range of equipment. The entrance was all automated, it all worked smoothly and allowed the turnstiles to work. I usually prefer the human contact but when i knocked for assistance, the staff member was really helpful and showed me how to use the cycle. I didn't realise the equipment needed to be used in order to start programming the settings as they are not plugged into any electricity. I would use the gym again. It all looked clean and maintained.

Negative experience: horrific customer service very rude employs

Positive experience: Unfortunately it was FREEZING when we visited. Not good for our baby boys. We couldn't remove coats for the short time we was there. I had to leave as my baby would have got sick

Positive experience: Great Gym but no wifi! Wifi is included in our price plan but there is no wifi. It is so bad that I had to get the gym app loaded on my phone just so I can scan myself inside. Lastly I am unable to use my YouTube work outs because there is no wifi in the gym … very annoying and may force me to move to another gym.

Fantastic experience: + very spacious + not busy, no waiting for any equipment most of the time + lots of cardio and weights machine + friendly instructors - looks a but groggy but all equipment is clean and safe - closes at 5pm on weekends and 10pm weekdays - no parking

Negative experience: I was thinking about joining this gym but after reading the reviews i am assuming i should not join this gym. At the very beginning when i started searching on Google about gyms near me to start doing some workout because i am gaining lot of weight and i saw this gym and the membership prices seemed also very reasonable. But now i get it i think because they offering this prices because they would not care if there is any complaints or anything else happening. And i am also thinking these kind of gyms puts you in a more difficult process which will be full of hassles when you try the gym and your unhappy and you want to cancel the membership.

Positive experience: It is ok,would be good to have more sanitizing stations/bins dotted around not just at the 2 ends of the gym,l spend 20 min at least sanitizing,looking for spray bottles and wipes which means there is only 40min left to get my routine done....

Fantastic experience: Fantastic space, its big! I love equipement, free wiegts, frame, track, boxing bags, machines, cardi and even group exercise classes! Love it, can not wait once reopened again!

Positive experience: For the price it's brilliant value but depends on what you want from a gym. For me it's spot on.

Negative experience: It’s not a bad gym, but it could be a lot better. It has everything you need it’s just a bit... meh. Rarely see staff, the weights are not organised, the lockers are old and antiquated, requiring 20p and giving you a chunky wristband. Everything is a bit worn and old. The opening hours are not even 24/7. For what they charge there are much better other gyms around.

Positive experience: Its an Okay Gym. That is Not a negative comment. It has lots of cardio equipment, cable machines and free weights. They open early enough to allow you to go to the gym and complete your workout without any queues for equipment or hassle. Some good staff and other gym users. There are the usual ‘unusual’ characters but No ‘roid users to speak of. Some staff will have a chat, others will smile. The equipment is mostly Technogym, and is serviced. The changing rooms and showers are large and clean. They do charge 20p to lock the locker but most users either do not lock their locker or place their bag on top of the lockers. Overall an okay gym.

Fantastic experience: Decent range of equipment , enough space to work out and no roid heads trying to bully you off the equipment. Only bad thing is you have to pay for a locker

Negative experience: Firstly staff is absolutely rude and disrespectful. Secondly They refused to let me enter with valid proof of purchase. Lastly I strongly advise you improve staff.

Positive experience: Machines are fairly good and spaced out. It's clean and fairly warm inside. However customer service concerns me.

Fantastic experience: Chose BETTER as it’s near my flat, stayed for relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, great and helpful staff, cool initiatives within the gym and awesome fitness classes included in monthly gym membership(that’s very affordable for the quality of the gym!)

Negative experience: A little outdated, aways some idiots but that's every gym you get what you pay for

Negative experience: They don't even deserve 1 star. My 15 year old signed up online without my knowledge. He never attended the gym even to pick up his membership card and then cancelled by phone a couple of months later when I found out he'd joined. They woman on the phone told him he could cancel but failed to let him know he needed to put it in writing. They carried on taking money out of his account for 22 months which he only realised when he had no money left. Now they won't refund a penny. Immoral company. Do not use

Positive experience: It's a good budget gym and for the price fulfils its purpose. There is a hell of a lot of space however so I think they could extend or make another free weights area as it gets busy sometimes and allows some more space when needed. There are some big gaps in terms of how it's laid out. Don't get me wrong it's a decent gym but with the amount of space wasted some more equipment could be fit in there

Negative experience: SHOCKING Would give zero stars if I could, went there this morning to try and get a day pass with a view to joining, pressed the buzzer for around twenty minutes and nobody came. When they did eventually turn up they helped someone else first, then even acknowledge me. In fact , I could still be there waiting now, 12 hours later. Went to fitness first instead, very accommodating, had a great workout! WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING TO ROMFORD FITNESS FIRST INSTEAD.

Positive experience: Pros - Very reasonably priced. Equipment well spaced out, lots of cardio machines, very few of the poser gym goers and well equipped for a basic gym goer. Cons - Cancelling membership is a hassle. Phone number not answered. Email address provided by staff member to cancel membership was incorrect

Fantastic experience: Very convenient, easy access, good atmosphere and I like that it’s no contract and a very good price but the equipment is still a high standard, very clean and well maintained! I’m proud to say I’m a member of better gym and I always recommend it

Negative experience: Told the staff to cancel my membership and said they did, I still ended up being charged and had to call up my bank to cancel the direct debit. Also couldn't get a refund as I couldn't get through to them on the phone after trying multiple times, dissapointed...

Fantastic experience: Fantastic value and plenty of cardio machines so never have to queue. Non refundable 20p charge to use the lockers is the only negative i can find. Highly recommended.

Positive experience: Went to the gym for nearly a year and I have to say I don't think i saw 1 machine replaced or upgraded. There's usually a que of people waiting to use the resistance machines which can be annoying, especially if you are on a time scale. It isn't a bad place to workout, considering it's only £20 a month. I suppose you do pay for what you get. The changing rooms are pretty poor and the showers are like prison showers (or how I assume they look like).

Positive experience: Cheap rolling contracts, friendly staff and pretty much all the machines and classes you would need. What brings down the ratings however is that this place doesn't have WI-FI which really sucks if you want to stream music during your work out.

Positive experience: Reasonably priced however it can be hard to get on the machine as it gets busy. Staff are very helpful.

Negative experience: Very terrible gym, lack of gym machines/equipment, no access to Wifi and worst of all there is no signal in the building which means i cant watch training videos or watch videos to see if im doing the right exercise.

Negative experience: Could be so much better. Large area but not much free weight equipment. Never enough bar bells,benches,dumbells etc. Always a que for equipment and cable machines. I have been to other "beter" branches and they have more equipment so why not this branch?

Negative experience: The gym is amazing only downfall is the PARKING . Literally i pay £2 everyday when i go to the gym , weekly that's £10 (5 times a week) times that by 4 thats £40 plus gym membership which is £60 , that's the same as david lloyd and DL has more facilities , maybe need to get some kind of free parking or discount for the gym members .
