Welcome to PureGym Sutton Coldfield, a fitness center dedicated to providing an exceptional workout experience. Our facility boasts a wide range of equipment suitable for all fitness levels, ensuring members can get great workouts in a clean and welcoming environment.
Highlights:
- Variety of cardio and weightlifting equipment available
- Friendly and helpful staff always ready to assist
- Regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure a pleasant atmosphere

However, we acknowledge some areas for improvement:
- The gym can get quite busy, especially during peak hours, making it challenging to access equipment.
- Some members have noted that our equipment maintenance could be more frequent.
- Feedback regarding the temperature and cleanliness in certain areas, especially the changing rooms, has been taken into consideration and will be addressed.

Negative experience: It is not gym it is a horror movie! I all these years never update to new equipment. There are so many new models of resistance machines, but of course why to bother, most important to get money from people and who cares that half of equipment rusted, out of order or 15 years old. Classes became to rubbish as well, because no self respecting, qualified PT wants to work in such stone age gym. Honestly disgusting and disappointing. Pure Gym reply is a joke, your equipments need replacement not repair, they are beyond repair.
Hi JD, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are equally as disappointed when, from time to time, things go wrong and equipment has to be placed out of order. Regular maintenance checks are undertaken, and any issues identified are escalated to engineers straight away. Sometimes, there may be a small wait whilst engineers attend to fix any issues, but we endeavour to resolve these as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about specific pieces of equipment in your gym, please notify staff on site as soon as you can. Thanks, PureGym

Negative experience: I don’t have a problem with the gym at all . But the ladies changing rooms have been stinking so bad for months now . Every day I come in same disgusting smells . It’s absolutely horrible,Awful, revolting . It absolutely reeks so badly . I want to be able to come to my local gym feeling motivated . But going to the changing room makes u wanna go back home . IT STINKS SO BAD ITS HORRIFIC !!!! Sort it out ! Feels like there’s a lack of cleanliness! Same stinking smell everyday single day without fail !

Negative experience: This gym is freaking cold and there’s no heating system to control the temperature
Hi Mahrooz, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Negative experience: You need to make this open 24 hours theres never any machines open and closes at such bad times like 10pm some people want to hit a late night workout after work or school but can even because the time it's open is ridiculous

Fantastic experience: The gym has everything that we need to train and the staff from Manager down are brilliant . We have a personal trainer Marjiec Slimak and he is brilliant. So kind and understanding to our requirements but still pushes us further. Couldn't wish for a better trainer.
Fantastic experience: Lovely establishment, they need to work more on getting more weights in the lower section of the building.
Fantastic experience: Really enjoying the gym bit gutted that my membership only covers a few other gyms the 24hr one local to us it doesn't cover so I have to wait till 8 am in a weekend no good when I finish nights and want to go straight from work

Positive experience: Great gym, lots of equipment, friendly staff. But why do people go and just sit there on the machines on their mobiles!!!??? Stay at home on your comfy settee n chat or txt, very annoying if you want to use a particular piece of equipment, too many doing it now.

Fantastic experience: Have been training all my life, even when this gym was "la fitness", but Puregym for the day i started 2 yrs ago, has been my faourite EVER gym - im 57, so i reckon i know about training, by now. Theyve got 4 or 5 machines, which make all the difference, as well as smiths machines, normal benches, lots of stuff. Brilliant. You can always get on something, even when its busy, but if you go at quiet times, there is too much to choose form. Soemtimes i jsut go in for 15 or 20 miutes, if i can get on the right machines and burn out on them, then i just go home, satisfied. A brilliant place.

Positive experience: The only real issue is idiots slamming the weights down and breaking the machines. Literally had a guy today doing upward rows, he was touching the weight down every lift but then on his last rep would drop it from halfway and you could hear him from upstairs. I’m not wearing headphones because working out with a friend and it bangs my eardrums out. There’s no need and no one thinks you good when doing that, it just looks like your ego lifting but staff don’t say anything ♂️

Negative experience: High heating on in the gym. About as helpful as a porcupine in a condom factory.

Fantastic experience: I love the gym but can you guys atleast extend the time maybe for the gym to operate till maybe 00:00 or to be 24 hours.It is always packed and 1 might even go home without working out

Positive experience: Great gym love the equipment and different areas. My main issue is the opening times, and it would be great if it could open earlier in the mornings especially for people going to work afterwards

Positive experience: The reason I gave 3 stars is because of the loud music. I normally visit around 8am and the music feels extremely loud and painful to the ears at that time. It should be in the background rather than overwhelmingly high. Would highly appreciate if management can consdier this please.

Positive experience: The gym is average by most standards. I only attended for a week because my local gym closed for the festive season and I won't be going back. Pros: - Lots of cardio equipment which is great for people like me who just want to primarily lose weight. - Plenty of free weights and benches. - Plenty of variety in weight equipment but only 1 machine in most cases like for example only 1 fly. - Plenty of parking space. - Plenty of lockers. - Good ambience - not too hot or cold. - Easy access, just using a pin or scanning the app. - App is good, gives a lot of information and provides booking options for classes. - Plenty of classes. - Cleaners always there, every day I was there cleaners were doing their job. Cons: - Joining fee, in 2023 is this necessary? My regular gym didn't need one. - Price for occassional users. I had to pay £18 for just 1 week. £15 + £10 joining fee was the alternative. - Lack of cleaning towels and spray. I never had this issue with my current gym, which always stocks up on both. This of course leads to the next equipment. - Despite cleaners in regularly, there is no cleaning station upstairs to wipe down equipment. Basically you'll need to bring your own. - Busy - it's busy busy busy. It's always busy and the worst part about it is that they are all crammed in either the free weight or weight equipment section. - Showers are mouldy and look dirty. Again - no issue at my current gym. So to summarise, it's a gym with plenty of equipment, parking and lockers - but is pricey and lacks in the hygiene department.

Fantastic experience: lovely gym that has a relaxed workout environment it has everything you need for a good cardio and strength workout with lots of different areas to use. Compered to other gyms im not naming that are chaotic loud and full of idiots this gym is a little gem if you want a workout without distractions.

Negative experience: The gym is way oversubscribed. Impossible to get a good run at a routine as spend half the time waiting for equipment, a rack or a bench.

Positive experience: Got a day pass to come here with 02 priority. Infuriating that the code didn't work, had to ask for help every time I wanted to go in and out. Codes for everything, which for me with the day pass, didn't make it easy. But the gym, equipment was great. Lots of equipment, nice vibe and kept clean. Friendly atmosphere too.

Negative experience: Attracts some undesirable rude people. I’ve seen visitors being rude to others and today it happened to me. I couldn’t even say anything because the guy looks like he sniffed cocaine and causes riots at football matches as his main profession. Equipment is old and rusty. The gym has various different sections which I like. But could be zoned better. For instance an area upstairs has arm machines, but randomly has 2 (the only 2) hip abductor machines. Functional area if you can call it that, has poor selection of weights, Dumbbells up to 10kg. They definitely could make more use of that space. The have plenty cardio machines, more than I’ve seen at other pure gyms. Doubt I’ll be going back to this gym, due to the attitude of some visitors and the way they hog the machines. Staff are virtually non existent and I’ve been going between 3-5pm, so surprised not to see staff there.

Negative experience: I’d been with PureGym for 5 years and this branch steered me clear of the brand for good. The gym’s culture from the bottom to the top is rotten and it really shows every time you visit. From weights not tidied away to “which piece of equipment will be broken ,and take several weeks to be repaired or replaced this time?”. Members often don’t return weights or equipment to the correct place, leaving you to go searching or clean up after them. This lack of regard is mirrored by staff and management, who do nothing to combat this culture and when issues are raised, offer nothing but empty promises. The last time I visited the AC wasn’t even on in the area I was training in and of course a piece of equipment had developed a fault! The gym also suffers from overcrowding due to its limited size and available equipment. I would suggest avoiding this gym unless you would like and underwhelming, unreliable and unbearable experience. P.s. take a look at the images I snapped before leaving for the final time.

Positive experience: Very popular Gym which means it's difficult to get on equipment. Some of the CV machines wobble as you use them and need levelling. The gym was also recently closed due to flooding (the car park is often a huge puddle after rain). The equipment is set out in a weird way as well over 2 floors. There was a much better layout when it was an LA fitness. I'm not going back!

Negative experience: I've been going almost everyday for nearly 2 years so this gives me licence to comment and review this gym accordingly. Facilities do not meet demand, equipment like ropes goes missing for weeks and is full of broken machines. Was not always this bad but in last month or so it's really gone downhill Really concerning, sad to see. Good luck getting a good weight based here, not a place for anyone who takes it seriously due to lack of proper working equipment and overcrowding. Staff will respond to this review no doubt with same copy paste comment about "app times" but I attend this gym in the week at various times Today I just hit boiling point with how shoddy it is here

Fantastic experience: This is the best PureGym I've been too. There is loads of equipment and it is new and well maintained. The Aircon is very good for the summer and the car park is easy to get to and has plenty of spaces.

Negative experience: Used to like coming to this gym now most of the machines are constantly broken and not serviced properly and regularly. Most of the treadmills are malfunctioning and now they also stopped cleaning sprays and towels, its so unhygienic. The antibacterial spray pumps are useless and nothing comes out after 20 pumps. The manager dont seem to care about any issues. The gym is always rammed out now a days, If these issues are not resolved im moving to another gym.

Negative experience: The quality of this gym has dropped dramatically recently. No decent PTs, amount of the classes has dropped massively and quality of the classes is really poor. No soap available in the ladies changing room. No manager available to help.

Negative experience: Absolute disaster, if you want to do a workout to build muscle you have better chances in park on free equipment. Every single machine and bench is taken. If you have 5h a day you can go there and do one muscle group at a time. Sutton PureGym, please limit members at one time, or do not accept memberships you can not handle. Will look for another gym ASAP

Negative experience: There isn't enough equipment in comparison to the number of members who attend this gym. It's really busy all of the time and most of the equipment you can't use because of it. The place is clearly over subscribed, they also do classes on the gym floor which takes up 50% of the running machines etc which makes equipment even more scarce. The gym is clean and the staff seem nice enough but there's far better gyms out there for the same price so I wouldn't recommend.

Negative experience: Do not bother with this gym its by far the worst PureGym its never got no staff always have problems getting in or out the place. Absolutely waste of space and time. The lateral shoulder machine is not properly serviced got more resistance on the one side and both large and small cable machines there's more resistance from the cable/belt than the weight itself. Cable machines are the bread and butter of anyone trying to build a good physique and by far the best to engage through the full range of motion there is no excuse for dragging on cables/guide rods or on seated machine especially on one side. It literally takes 2 minutes to spray abit of lube on the guide rods problem solved.

Positive experience: Relatively tidy and not too busy if you avoid peak times. Fairly well equipped with a good selection of classes. Could do with there being more variety of classes at the same time on different days though.

Negative experience: Recently had my wing mirror stolen on the car park, near the entrance. Told a staff member so they could check the cctv. The staff member took my details to pass on to the manager. I've not heard anything since. It has been 10 days. Not good enough. The car park is poorly lit. Doesn't feel particularly safe in the evenings.

Negative experience: Given up with this gym after more than a year of going. There is a serious flooding problem. Pic was taken following 5 DRY days. When it rains heavily you can't get from the available spots in the car park to the front door without getting wet feet. Raised with management and staff multiple times but seems to fall on deaf ears

Fantastic experience: Great place to work out, lots of different, good quality equipment, clean, lots of hygiene stations and always equipped. New manager Dave has worked very hard by listening to members and over time resolved a lot of issues with showers, air temperature and ensuring all members have a great gym experience.

Negative experience: The gym is too small and to busy,i tried to train legs they only have one leg press machine and one leg extension machine .Which means standing around waiting .it was my first visit so will wait and see but will be looking at other gyms locally.

Positive experience: Good gym overall but its the small things that have me looking an alternative gym. Opens 6.30 but no claases until 7am. A lot of gyms offer way earlier gym workouts. The signing in for classes is a pain, if there is no register I get an email I have missed class with the threaten of A strike. Im sending emails twice a week explaining. Its getting exhausting. Too much admin. Im not a member of staff. Then cut off time for cancelling a class 4 hours, i mean who knows whats going to happsn within 4 hours in day to day life. Coming from Bannatyne wherr it was two Hours this is annoying They have good members of staff and good classes but the experience of the gym is lacking

Positive experience: First time back at this gym in a few years. From what I could observe I only saw one water fountain which was located near to the lat pulldown machines. The tap could do with being seen to, it would’ve been quicker for me to have gone to the gents toilets and filled my bottle this way which would be neither convenient or hygienic. I was too conscious of standing there and filling all the way knowing someone else was waiting. Choice of music could be better. Although I like to listen to my own music, there have been instances whereby I’ve left my AirPods at home and relied on the gym music to give me that push. Even something like kiss story would make the world of difference. Only seen one wide grip lat pull down bar which I had to wait for despite being two machines. Another gym goer there also commented on this. Perhaps add a couple of bench presses where the benches are for dumbbell workouts and a weight stack if the legs area is busy.

Negative experience: Dissapointing for people that want to lift properly. Only one deadlift platform and one bench... Loads of Smyth machines and cardio Equipment so suits people into that type of training I guess.

Positive experience: Good large car parking at rear.some lighting in car park. Clean gym.but upper level low ceiling when on treadmill. if your tall. lots of levels in building .maze.Good gym though.

Positive experience: Longer opening times and changing the water fountains wouldn't go a miss .. apart from that is has all you need!
Negative experience: Where to start. People left free weights on the floor , none of the barbell weights were in the correct place or just on the floor too. A group were using 4 piece of machine and not using one piece, they just kepted a sweaty top on to keep ppl from using it. There was barely any cleaning solution had liquid spray and I only seen two members of staff. one was teaching, the other just scold the entiretime I seen him. First and last visit to this branch. This place needs a lower number of capacity for the members when classes are not on, due to the equipment and health and safety issues.

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this. There are always personal trainers in the gym between 6am and 10pm, but especially at peak times they are often occupied with classes or clients. However, if one is available they will always be happy to help. If they're not immediately visible, you can try knocking on the office door or pressing the button to call for assistance. Positive experience: Disappointed that there are limited machines and attachments to use. Unless you get the timings right it's a challenge to have a good session without constantly being interrupted. Saturday opening timing of 8am is way too late, it needs to be at least 7am. Constantly have to travel to other gyms to suit timings and equipment issues it's frustrating.

Positive experience: Good but like many other pure gyms there is no seated calf machine or seated barbell shoulder bench. Only westbromwich have these two machines. Birmingham city centre have the seated calf machine, all the other westmidlands gyms don't have either of them

Fantastic experience: Pleasantly surprised with this gym. Loads of equipment, really helpful. Definitely a gym I would recommend.
Negative experience: Used to love coming here but it gets too packed out think I have to cancel my gym membership checked the app the other day 130 + people in the gym in evening they need to atleast open up untill 11pm like previously so I can come at 10pm when its quiet & get my workout done.
