Negative experience: Mens changing room showers haven't worked properly for about a year and now they don't work at all, for weeks you can't shower, can't wash your hands, can't flush the toilet, on the rare occasion the taps do work people have to wash themselves under the taps throwing water all over the floor in changing rooms. Yet they keep increasing the price!! I don't get to go half as much as id like to because normally I need a shower afterwards so just don't bother. Stop saying your sorting it and actually sort it or close down!
Negative experience: Machines don’t even turn on. Tried 3 elliptical machines, cycle machine and some treadmills and it doesn’t even work. Useless why am I paying for machines that don’t even work.

Negative experience: Decent gym but I'm not sure if they're aware that some people are using the gym around the early hours 2-5am to sleep (I feel bad but proper support should be offered, this individual sleeps next to the machines on the top floor - wouldn't have really bothered me if they were in the changing rooms etc.) I find myself having to be quiet to accommodate him sleeping as I feel bad but it shouldn't be this way, it's a gym not a hotel.

Positive experience: Having had the membership for a month. Facilities are great. Location is great. But maintenance is bad. Unstaffed doesn’t mean disorganised. Meanwhile, I have to say a bulk of folks in Birmingham are nothing but trash. Smelly, drunk, dirty, loud, no class. Much worse compared to what we have back in Cardiff. Of course it is the issue irrelevant to the gym itself. Just a gentle reminder to those who plan to move to Birmingham to work.

Negative experience: There are thieves in this gym. Guys don't risk putting anything valuable in these lockers. My locker got broken and 150 pounds got stolen from my wallet. I understand I should not have kept it in a locket but the locks are not secure. Someone broke it with the padlock still on. Also, many unhygienic guys have joined recently who stink from miles away. Considering the location it is my gym of choice but they should provide a more secure locker and increase the price as the gym is getting crowded.

Fantastic experience: For a beginner, I was impressed with the spacious,clean environment and the variety of equipments to exercise with. Oh I must say there was water stations available to stay hydrated.

Negative experience: A very Small gym that is spread over 3 floors, set up is bad and spacious, could do with more equipment. The AC was not working, equipment was old and not maintained. I went as it was close to station and convenient, but not coming back. I would not recommend.
Hi Aly, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Negative experience: The music is so bad; there’s always just the same EDM/generic dance pop & it disturbs me a lot. Sometimes music is so loud that my ears pop, and I’m afraid I might need hearing aids soon.
Positive experience: It's fine. Just needs more equipment. The fact that there's space to add 5 Barbell racks (two of which are smith), yet only space for 1 leg extension, then cluttering the second floor with random cardio equipment DESPITE having a floor dedicated to exclusive cardio equipment, which to their credit is quite clean, is a bit silly. There's an extremely large space at the back of the first floor that is simply not in use where this equipment can go so there's more space in the studio for ACTUAL studio equipment. There also needs to be some sort of penalty plan in place for people who clearly misuse equipment. Free Weights and Cable areas are always shockingly cluttered. Random equipment and benches practically thrown everywhere without much care, and will still be there the following day. Granted, this is more of a people problem more than the gym's, but it's not a nice experience and makes finding the equipment you need to be an absolute nightmare. There is also homeless people and junkies that like to sleep directly into the foyer. Not a very presentable look and a safety risk if the wrong type of person sets up camp there. Other than that, this gym is just fine. It isn't anything special and doesn't do anything groundbreaking. Just enough to get a standard workout then leave. Locker rooms are also tidy for the most part.

Negative experience: The people that come to this gym leave it in a mess and have no respect for others around them. Weights are hardly ever put away and when they are, they are put in the wrong place. This leads to having to search for what you need, and if you're lucky, someone will take your spot while you look. Been coming to this gym for 6 months and I just can't stand it anymore. Not like it's a cheap gym either.

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. Fantastic experience: I couldn't recommend more the Thursday yoga sessions for PureGym members at PureGym Arcadian! I have visiting those since the start in October and the sessions are beginner friendly, about 1 hour long. The instructor Hana has been really welcoming and making sure everyone is included, explaining every detail of every move and takes time to demonstrate and break down moves. Her tips and hints contribute to a fantastic session! Today and every other day. Thank you PureGym for having that Thursday slot - its a real local gem! I have never done yoga before and i am glad I am able to attend those session.

Negative experience: Equipment needs a deep clean. Some equipment needs replacing or repairing. Advertising screen smashed. TV and music volume lack lustre. Aircon either too hot or too cold!

Negative experience: Poor customer experience. Many broken lockers. Different barrel sizes on lockers that were working so impossible to lock the locker with a padlock! Hopeless and no gym manager to be seen. Went for post work work-out and barring the walk there achieved nothing. Thanks PureGym for a plus membership that is worthless. Has to be one of the worst gyms in your estate.

Positive experience: This gym only has 1 lat pull down machine for the WHOLE gym and is constantly being used and you can rarely use it. Please invest in multiple gym machines.

Fantastic experience: So far the gym is really good nothing much to say but recently I bought a fob from wending machines and I cannot program it to gym, wondering if I can get a replacement or reprogram the fob to work in that gym please appreciate if some help

Negative experience: I genuinely cannot conceive of a worse gym experience than this. For starters, the building was clearly never intended to be used for these facilities – as such, you are constantly forced to trudge up and down the three flights of stairs in desperate, misguided hope that just one item of equipment you want to use is free, with no way of knowing until you’ve already scaled the equivalent of the Pyrenees before you can get your first set in. If by some miracle you do manage to find a machine before your calves explode, you are usually quickly struck with the realisation that it either: (a) has a vital component missing, (b) there are virtually no plates available, or (c) it is simply completely non-functional, in any capacity. The maintenance team seem to value repainting the interior over improving the quality and/or quantity of the equipment (or indeed, fixing anything that has broken and replacing anything that is missing); some of the personal trainers appear to have the sole purpose of making everyone’s experience even more miserable by strutting around like they own the place, taking plates from racks that people are using without asking, and generally being aggressive and unpleasant; and of course the air conditioning works more or less exactly as you would expect – that’s right, it doesn’t. One thing I will give the staff credit for is locking off access to the top-floor balcony, as if it wasn’t for this precaution I would have certainly thrown myself off the edge and onto the pavement below by now. Though perhaps one more putrid mural with some utterly vapid mantra such as, “Unlock your Beast Mode” will be all the motivation I need to finally kick the doors down and go through with it. I’m not a superstitious man, but dragging myself to this wretched building week after week has made me reconsider the existence of a purgatory, and I truly believe the world can only begin to heal once the establishment has been shut down for good.
Negative experience: -5 stars if i could give it… This is the worse representation of a pure gym I have ever encountered!!! To put in to context my comparison I have used the following locations for 1 month plus ( I travel alot for work) 3x Bristol 1x Gloucester 3x Birmingham 2x Southampton 1x Ilford 5x London 1x Basingstoke 1x Essex. As a member of the 5am crew I enjoy coming into a clean and quiet gym before going to work - This gym on a daily basis is a STATE!!! It is never clean and nobody puts their weights back. Puregym generally has a higher standard/protocol on gym goers putting away equipment or they get banned. Staff & Cleaners actually doing their jobs - Staff would rather bypass rubbish and trip hazards and float around the gym doing the bare minimum, no toilet roll, no apparent cleaning stations or the spray is never refilled/checked… the list is endless! If you go to gym in the mornings before work DO NOT USE THIS GYM! The cleaner clocks in 8:30-8:45 which is laughable and the gym still doesnt hit Puregym levels i have known over the years of being a member. Imagine paying money for a gym to look like a students bedroom to then be tidied up in the quiet hours of 9am Homeless and drug users taking refuge in the lobby and left to their on devices by staff rather than calling authorities and evacuating them before going about their working day. Pictures taken are over the month of being at this establishment with the homeless guys with visible drug needles and itching away on 22/11/23 - 6am where staff was in the building. Nothing I have listed is an isolated incident it is a constant…SHAMBLES!!!! Pros: Fairly empty in the mornings - probably due to the above Cons: All of the above listed plus more

Negative experience: Be aware of the 5 days cancellation policy. If you pass the 5 days cancellation policy, you will be entitled to pay for the next month automatically. Not easy to cancel membership.

Positive experience: I've been to a few Pure Gyms in my time, and I'd have to say this was a bit below average. Admittedly, it's a city centre location - but it's not as big as most and spread over three s smallish floors. While there are a few squat racks and Smith machines, it's missing things like a hack squat and calf raise. Finding the plates you want was a bit of a chore. At £9 for a day pass, I thought it was quite pricey, so I would look for an alternative next time I'm in Birmingham.

Fantastic experience: I recently started back at Strength 30 last tuesday after taking a few weeks off on vacation. After scrolling through reviews Im surprised to see a somewhat calculated swipe directed towards trainer Foad. Over the past two years I have attended both classes and PT sessions with Fo and he has delivered nothing but a proffesional service, to the point his obsession with good form, discipline and practice pushes me to the limit. His classes are always full attendance, positive and varied. He walks around and surveys everyone's performance, corrects form and encourages people when needed. As a PT he is encouraging, positive and pushes me, which is exactly what I needed and why he came highly recommended to me by several people.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been attending gym classes for more than 1 year and all my friends are shocked when they hear me say i’m looking forward to them. A positive and motivating trainer can make a significant difference in how much you enjoy your workouts! Foad is putting a lot of effort into ensuring the classes have different exercises to target various muscle groups and prevent boredom and that people have a correct form throughout the session. The classes have a great atmosphere (and music) and lots of people are attending, creating a sense of community and support which keeps us all engaged. Constant full attendance is testament to how much people enjoy his class. Thanks for encouraging us to be more active and making class more enjoyable!

Negative experience: Leaving due to the 2 pound increase especially as it was already increased by a pound I'm a nightworker and don't have any access to the locker rooms or female bathrooms, much less a member of staff I only have use of the access bathroom for changing and often have to wait quiet a while as other people are using the one bathroom which is always out of toilet roll and hand sanitiser and to be frank dirty Several units are always out of order and its really not worth it anymore

Negative experience: It’s a decent gym but attitude from some members is outright terrible, especially in the evening time. I can see several previous reviews highlighting this and clearly nothing has been done. If you have a stinking attitude you should not be allowed to train here! I will most likely not be returning, at least until I know something has been done about this.

Negative experience: Decent machines, not enough free weights or plates, especially on the 3rd floor. One deadlift platform and no plates for it. Biggest complaint is that it was so hot, the deadlift platform is on the 3rd floor and I've never sweat so much on my life, no air con at all. Actually quite concerning...

Positive experience: Overall I really like this gym and it’s convenient location, but it could do with a few improvements. Too many of the weights and kettlebells get scattered around especially in the studio area, if there was a way to enforce tidiness and make changes to the equipment layout this might help. The functional area could do with a fixed barbell tree as the only options are dumbbells & the Olympic plates, also new machinery such as a weighted hip thrust machine would be a bonus. However I’m disappointed at the lack of gym/yoga/bosu balls & resistance bands, I find these very beneficial in mobility work but they’ve all seemed to vanish?

Positive experience: The gym is fine. But I train in the morning and the weights are everywhere on the floor. The gym needs to enforce those who leave weights on the floor or random places.

Negative experience: I used to go here a couple of years back, it's gone downhill badly as highlighted in other reviews. The process to cancel is a loop that doesn't allow you to cancel, blatant scam behaviour. I want a reply to this review with an email that I can contact to cancel my membership.

Positive experience: Used this gym for three days while working in Birmingham. Easy to get access any time of day, although the tramp sleeping in the entrance foyer was a bit of a low point. Mostly used the CV equipment while i was there as there seems to be a culture of people sitting around on the resistance machines using their phones and not really using the machines so a little frustrated about that. Even so, found the 24 hour access useful and the equipment and building was all in good order. I would use another pure gym if staying away for any length of time.

Negative experience: Worst gym! Complete inhuman treatment to men when ALL toilets are locked and not accessible for members, there’s always a leaking because they never repair their sinks/toilets. Several machines are broken and unsafe for use. Rude management and dangerous and threatening members, when report to management, they do nothing about it, other than ignore your complaints.

Negative experience: Fix the lockers in the men’s room. There’s maybe 2 out of 20 lockers that aren’t broken, which means I can’t store my bag securely at all and also suggests theft is happening as these look broken on purpose!

Negative experience: I was at this gym for a month and won't be back again. There are machines broken that are not getting fixed. The drinks machine that you pay extra for only works half of the time, when I mentioned this to the staff they just said, "yeah it's temperamental", not a professional response at all! Half of the lockers in the men's changing room are broken, I keep a screwdriver in my bag and had to fix one myself, it took about 15 seconds!! If I can fix one that quickly it really makes you wonder why they haven't fixed them yet. Trying to cancel my membership online is a hell of a chore, it keeps sending me through loops, will have to call them. Overall, I really don't recommend this gym.

Negative experience: A let down by PureGym usually really good but recently since the new year they've had issues with water facilities especially showers not in use. Attention needed on this as soon as very disappointed.

Negative experience: Unreliable gym showers- every few months they have an issue and it’s not properly rectified! Either an issue whereby only cold water works or showers doesn’t work at all! Inconsistent and inconvenient for when planning ahead for the day and require a shower to get clean from the workout! Really disappointing and could do with better managing!

Negative experience: The standards of the gym have gone down massively in the past few months . Kits are not being repaired there are barely any lockers in the changing room that work . The assistant managers attitude is not very friendly and sounded very authoritative and demanding the few times that he spoke to me. Looking to stop my membership, which is really a shame as this gym used to be really good and a friendly environment specially from management :(

Negative experience: The standards of the gym have reduced over the last months. Not only it takes ages to fix broken machines and equipment, the gym is freezing for weeks now. It is so cold inside it is dangerous to train! Having frozen hands and wearing winter coats in the gym while training is a safety hazard and should be taken seriously by the management. While the pts are doing exceptional job I could not say this about management of this gym…

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this gym a little over 2 years now I've lost weight and gained muscle I don't have any complaints staff are available often if you need help. It's a brilliant gym for beginners and more advanced. Never had a bad experience good equipment lots of new classes. Everyone is welcome regardless of sexual orientation or race great place. I recommend to all my friends. My son had recently joined and is enjoying it hope this helps people looking for reviews.

Negative experience: To whom it may concern, I wanted to report your staff member Dave in Puregym Arcadian for telling me off when I was deadlifting. When you deadlift heavy and do a sport like powerlifting you are going to slightly drop the weight down. I was told off for deadlifting when its a gym and not a library in a condescending manner which I do not appreciate. Could this issue be sorted as I am frustrated when a member of staff is rude and doesn’t understand that when you deadlift the bar will be put down and that its not a Romanian deadlift. I will ask everyone i know to cancel their membership if Dave isn’t dealt with as this should be a welcoming gym and not a gym where an assistant manager feels he can be condescending to people. Negative experience: What the hell..today was my first visit after wasting a month's fee and I am shocked..the lift doesn't work and the men's washroom/toilet is on 3rd floor..this is like forcing someone to climb the stairs..pathetic totally..I can understand that the toilets are on the 3rd floor but why is the lift not working and someone In the gym told me that the lift is for staff only..wth..u r taking fee from every individual and denying them access to the lift..pls either change this or m moving out and going back to my previous gym.. Also, the AC vents don't throw proper air..I felt a lack of air..pls improve these things in accordance with ur reputation..I had high hopes but this is really disappointing..

Negative experience: I have no idea why the music here is either always completely off or at the lowest volume to where you can barely hear anything, it creates such a dull atmosphere in the gym to the point where you can hear a pin drop, it’s like working out in a Library. Have to give it 1 star for this as it’s been this way in the gym since it opened. I know the music being on isn’t an issue because when it’s time for the classes the music is played to maximum capacity, it seems the gym staff just prefer to have the gym quiet at all times which is very odd.

Fantastic experience: My gym of choice. I've tried other pure gyms and none are as clean, looked after and working as this one. Staff are solid, cleaning stations everywhere, and it's split over 3 floors so it's fairly well spaced out.

Fantastic experience: After reading the reviews the snobbery on show is ridiculous, one comment saying “ghetto” gym, people from all walks of life come to this gym, there’s never any problems, mutual respect from the staff and other gym users. To address the point of 3 floors? McDonald’s has 2 floors, I’m sure you can go and enjoy that instead of walking a few steps . The gym is amazing, all the equipment you could ask for and is always clean !. Surely if you doing leg day, using that muscle group while using a the stairs will be beneficial, not a detriment !! If you can handle extra weight, use less weight so you can easily walk down the stairs. Simple. I feel strongly about my gym, yes MY GYM!, because ever since I started I feel at home here and I will defend against nonsense remarks. Anyone can buy a location and put gym equipment in it. This gym I have been coming to for 3 years now and you just can’t replicate the atmosphere or the polite and friendly staff, down to the fellow gym goers.

Positive experience: Overall it’s a good gym. I must say, the layout is pretty annoying. If you come in for a leg day, I’d say avoid it. There are 3 floors, men’s changing room is in the top floor while women’s is second and by the end of it you’ll be crawling down the stairs. I tried using the lift but requires a pin, when I entered the pin the lift did not work for me. Either I did something wrong or it’s was out of use with no notice. Equipment are in good condition and the gym is clean for the most part. I haven’t seen a single staff when I went in peak hours and it wasn’t all that busy but it’s a lot smaller than what pictures may show. It may look a little like ghetto kind of gym, not the most flashiest of all & its next door to a pub. If that’s your style, you’ll enjoy it.

Positive experience: Pretty cool gym. Especially if you're travelling and don't want to sign up with a contract. Paid for a day pass online, got sent a code, used it to login to their app and bam, QR code to enter the gym. I only went to the first floor but there was a machine for every upper body part. Lower must be up the stairs more (must be funny watching people come down the stairs huh?). There is a lift and wheelchair entrance too. Big cleaning station which was good to see. Machines were all well used, creaked and a little old but did the trick.

Negative experience: my bad experience was that they took nearly £70 out of my account without explanation then tried to justify it by saying i had cancelled my membership which i hadnt they admitted in enails after that they had cancelled it . My monthly payment was taken which they tried to say wasnt payed even though i had proof yet they proceeded to take out futher payments amounting to around £70 and i couldn't even access the gym .The manageress at the time said shed sort it out but it was never resolved even when i threatened to report them .They gym in its self is very clean and tidy with new equipment

Negative experience: Worst gym I’ve ever been too, every single grip on every machine was a tacky plastic that has come away from the metal underneath so it’s impossible to get a decent grip on anything because your hand just spins with the plastic

Fantastic experience: I had issues regarding joining online and communicating with CS online was very long winded. However, when contacting pure gym Arcadian directly via Instagram Charlotte the GM sent me a prompt response and was willing to go out of her way to ensure I receive the best customer service and get signed up asap! Charlotte stayed after she had finished work to help me join and ensure I get my issue sorted she also gave me a tour around the gym. I was really nervous about joining but Charlotte was so lovely and ensured I felt comfortable. Thank you so much I really appreciate it again. I really don’t have a bad thing to say about this gym. It has everything you need, it’s soooo clean, really spacious, more than enough equipment for everyone and the staff are amazing.

Fantastic experience: Although this gym is in city center it is surprisingly less busier than five ways during peak hours 5-7pm. The only downside is that gym is split in three floors so some may not like the layout of gym. The best fact though is that Arcadian parking is free for 2 hours for all members.

Positive experience: Fairly well equipped gym, have to go hunting for certain bits of equipment but they've tried to organise the floors into body part focus. There is a lot of free space. Some of the cable attachments were missing when I went but it's nothing you can't work around.

Positive experience: Good gym and lots of space although feel like there was a lot more room to add in more equipment, machines etc. Price very reasonable but can get busy in peak hours.

Negative experience: Shower water does not drain properly due to blockage or some other issue, and this has not been fixed in more than 6 months now. Even when the Manager says she has attempted to fix it I saw no difference. I have been away for 2 months and disappointed to find it is still the same. I gave 4 stars to this gym previously, they were brilliant during the pandemic. I tried to give them time to fix it and I think they have had a lot of time now, so I no longer feel bad about writing this review. It is unhygienic to stand in dirty shower water, it should have been dealt with by now!

Positive experience: THE GYM IS OK BUT THEY HAVE JUST PUSHED ALL THE STEPPERS AND TREADMILLS REALLY CLOSE TOGETHER SO YOU CAN'T TRAIN SALFLY!!! REALLY POOR SELECTION OF CLASSES

Positive experience: Couldn't bench press due to lack of benches with barbell racks. Quite poorly equipped. Too many bikes which from what I could see were not being used by anyone. I guess good cardio gym?
