Negative experience: Had a 7 day pass for the gym. The whole place is quite frankly disgusting. The stairs going up to the gym area and door going into the male changing rooms need either cleaning or general maintenance. The freeweights area is covered in dust and dirt and I mean a lot. Things are broken, one of the floor mats has been taped up badly, rather than being replaced. A wheel is missing off one of the benches, things are ripped. The dumbells are labeled with bits of paper stuck on the racks, some are worn and tape peeling back. It just looks rubbish. Speakers are covered in thick dust/dirt, it really looks like the place hasn't been cleaned in months. There is so much more wrong with the place, I just give up. The shower heads are grubby and covered in Limescale, the sauna smells like someone has died in there. The lockers are falling apart. The place is just smells dirty and clearly maintainance is just not something that is done. God knows why, it could be a decent gym with the right management. It's a really odd gym, small weights area. On the two occasions I went, there was about 80% of the customers using the small weights area and a oversized large cardio area which was only used by 20%. Spoke to a manager when I left, she wasn't surprised by my lack of maintainance comment, but appeared surprised by the amount of dirt and dust. It's not really acceptable, for any manager not noticing the level of dust etc, this was clearly something that has been building up for a long time. I don't know why anyone would pay to go here, it's portrayed as a high class health club, this is certainly not the case.

Fantastic experience: Everything about Nuffield Sunbury is 10/10. The staff are super friendly and genuine when they meet and greet. The members are considerate of others and put equipment away when they’re done. The facilities are great, very clean and pretty much available when you need them. 10/10 for me!

Negative experience: Definitely a place where you can get moked by the waitress with 0 capacity in customer service, I was there for my sessions of training and I dive into the cafe for ordering a capucino, the waitress was acting very weird before I even try to finish my order she started to say *please * first time I didn't paid attention and lived that way but after my son ordered a sandwich she said *thank you * on repeat I didn't paid attention at that time but another customer came and ordered as we was sitting in front of the buffet I could here the conversation and I noticed that this time the waitress had a nice approach I called her to my table to ask her why she felt the urge to finish after each word I said with those given word do she think I disrespect her or I was impolite and her answer was that I was rude and to drink my coffee and live hopefully nobody will ever experience such a treatment inside the cafe I leave this review and hopefully the manager will be able to choose the correct people who will work in customer service because the day and my day at the local was a big disappointment.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been using the Nuffield gym in Sunbury since the building opened over 23 + years ago I think it was ! Great staff and I’m going to name names. , Samantha, Mateus ,Jamie , Stef and Sally really are both friendly and excellent in the restaurant. Ben , Anthony and Emma in the gym team are very professional personal trainers and chat to the members and identify the clients needs. Saffia , Suzanne and Maisy , are very supportive to the members and Lastly , Marcus the General manager , well done to you and your team

Positive experience: One of the highlights of this gym is its swimming facilities. The pool is well-maintained, and swimming sessions have been a refreshing addition to my workout routine. The cleanliness and availability of the pool are commendable. However, when it comes to upper body workouts, I feel that the gym could use more machines and equipment. As someone who focuses on strengthening the upper body, I believe the addition of more options would enhance the overall experience for individuals like me. On the bright side, the gym offers an impressive variety of classes included in my membership. These classes have been a great way to diversify my workouts and learn new exercise techniques. I appreciate the effort made to accommodate different fitness preferences. Another positive aspect of Nuffield Health and Fitness Gym is the Nu Kitchen. The food options provided are delicious and offer a healthy alternative to support my fitness goals. I believe the gym showers could use some improvement. While they serve their purpose, enhancing their cleanliness and maintenance would greatly enhance the post-workout experience for members. I would still highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a well-rounded fitness experience.

Negative experience: Where do I start? This gym and its owners are the prime example of todays problems concerning greed and non delivery of service. The CEO of this company has given himself a nice tasty pay rise while our membership has gone up by 5 pounds, cos “they can’t afford the energy bills” The jacuzzi has been closed so now everyone uses the swimming pool, equipment is usually broken or being fixed, the sauna is tired and grubby, not to mention the male changing rooms either being dirty or doors hanging off the hinges. Countless ABLE BODIED Mercedes drivers constantly park in the disabled bays which is frankly disgusting behaviour, which we’ve raised several times with nothing being done about it. Sadly enough the staff don’t seem to give two hoots when a well measured and reasonable complaint is made, even tho that could potentially cost them their job eventually. Last time we were here, there was pieces of a dirty PLASTIC BAG floating about in the bottom of the swimming pool, and when I drew attention to it, and to the fact we stopped our swim short because of it, to the receptionist, I was met with a blank emotionless stare and told “I tried for 10 mins to get it out” before she turned away and continued what I can only judge must of been a more important, deep and meaningful gossip with her colleague. It seems the CEOs “couldn’t give a toss” attitude is filtering down to the staff. If you have 8 hrs in a shift and it was my company, you’d be in that pool until it was clean. Terrible attitude and now we’re being charged more for that quality of service. No thank you and good bye. We’ve just cancelled our membership as it also stipulates that you can, if service is not met. I urge everyone else to do so also and stop putting money into the hands of people like this. Awful place.

Negative experience: Not worth half the money I'm afraid, unless you use all of the facilities. In-fact they have removed the Jacuzzi and put up the price. Free weights - only one set of each weight, should be at least two sets of the same weights. Some machines still not fixed after three weeks. Very , very warm inside the gym, despite many complaints, makes it difficult to do HIT training. In-fact I never see anyone actually running, possibly because its too hot in there. Disappointing because the Gym itself looks really nice, layout as well.

Negative experience: Staff where very rude, they will not let you know the regulations and the times for the junior memberships to leave the main gym and will not let under 16s in after 6:00 when on there websites it says 7:00 for junior memberships to leave the main gym.

Negative experience: Lovely looking Gym, nice layout, very busy in the evenings. Annoying that people sit on the phone instead of working out contributing to the backlog on getting on the machines. Also frustratingly, this particular Gym is consistently very warm inside, despite numerous requests to turn the aircon on. The apparent reason for this, is the outside temperature... Not that I work-out outside... It's the inside temperature that I'm questioning. One more added comment, unfortunately not a positive one is that twice now while planning on using the Sauna and Steam Room, we found they were unavailable. Nothing at all listed on the rooms , nor in the changing rooms, when we complained we were told it's stated on one of the tiny notice points on the reception desk, with the font so small you can barely read it. This temporary closure should be more noticeable when entering the facility. I'm not so sure my suggestions were welcomed and I do not believe anything will change.

Positive experience: Nice gym but the music is tooooo loud at the gym. I don’t understand why. If someone wants to listen some loud music is free to bring their own music for themselves.

Negative experience: Over booked. Imposible get spaces into clases or pool. Even if you have a booking you might arrived at your class and your space Is gone.

Negative experience: My son attended swimming lessons and the instructor was always off sick and eventually left. He made little progress as lessons constantly cancelled on the day. In the end I cancelled lessons as a waste of money. No apology, no interest from swim manager so they lost our business. Also a private lesson was taking place in the learner pool at the same time. Acoustics in the pool already bad so even more difficult for children to hear instructions. There are better swim schools elsewhere they just want your money here unfortunately. Such a shame as had been a member for many years.

Fantastic experience: This gym is classed as a Tier 2 which costs less than a Tier 1 such as Stockley Park and Stoke Poges yet its much better. Its very clean, the gym area is very large and well equipped/organised, sauna is lovely and free parking. The staff are very helpful and PTs are always happy to lend a helping hand even though they don't get paid. General feel of the club is that its friendly. If you've joined a gym to workout you wont be disappointed but if you come to sit in bar/cafe you might be. Lets face it, you don't go to a gym to socialise you got to get results. You will get results here. A+

Negative experience: i pay £87 a month for my membership and the internet doesn’t even work and not only that, now been told the spa pool will be closed for the WHOLE of winter when i actually use the spa pool a lot, i bet they won’t give discount on memebership for those months

Positive experience: Overall the gym is a disappointment. The layout is poor leading to a cramped and crowded feel in the weight lifting area. There isn't enough equipment like dumbbells, plates, benches or machines for the customer base. Opening hours are too short and they need to look to moving to 6am to Midnight opening hours to increase the capacity of the club. The building could be better painted too

Negative experience: I like the club itself, it had all I need. Great classes and tidy facilities. However the customer service is atrocious…. constantly need to chase for everything! I’ve been entitled to a free membership through the nursery and have been waiting for this to be set up for months now. Completely out of line.

Fantastic experience: I don't understand the bad reviews on here. I've been a member on and off for about 6 years and never had any issues. The gym is generally smart and clean, the equipment is good (a request I put in for wall ball target was implemented), staff are always friendly and the coffee shop is good. Equipment in good condition and repairs carried out quickly. Classes have improved with Skill Edge - 30 minute circuit with kettlebells, treadmill, weights, TRX, battle ropes, wall balls etc and good PTs leading the class. When I have previously cancelled my membership (for reasons not related to the gym itself) I had no problem getting this done.

Negative experience: I know this place from when was Virgin active!is getting worst day by day! No maintenance has been done from while!Half of the cabinet are broken and dirty the other half is lock for covid restrictions! The tissue dispenser is always empty and tonight wasn’t there! The wall in the gym is cracked end is sticky under your foot! The only think is going up is the monthly payments! The staff is very friendly at least!

Negative experience: Can a general mananger call me asap. I had to cancel my membership at this gym after recieving a fine that mounted to £280 from parking eye at nuffield in leatherhead. I put my number plate correctly however nuffield asked for £25 to deal with cancelling this fine from a third party company.

Fantastic experience: I use the swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room. These facilities are excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly. I believe the following items can be improved: 1. Making sure that the rule of showering before using swimming pool and other facilities are adhered to especially by female users. 2, provision of a cold water tap and hose pipe in the steam room to enable users to wash the seating area before use
Positive experience: Excellent and modern gym, currently you need to bring your own towels and locks for the lockers. Not used to that coming from the city gym. Lots of free parking on site. Overall a nice experience.
Positive experience: I used to go to the gym in feltham it was a ok gym but as its cheap its always rammed you cant get on anything ever since i came to this gym evern tho its busy you still get on a equipment and do your exercise and its more classy you still have idiots getting into your personel space haven't they heard of covid some of the staff are up their backsides but i just ignore them im not there to make friends im there to train some of the equipment need to be updated they don't have everything Ps can you stop people from wearing their boxer shorts in the sauna it's disgusting

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Ample parking. I’ve never had to wait for a machine or equipment. The pool is relatively quiet and the onsite coffee shop is a great way to relax after a good workout. I also occasionally use Nuffield Wandsworth before work, which is equally as good. Keep up the great work!

Negative experience: Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try the gym, because customer service is HORRIBLE. We had day passes for two adults and were told our child can also accompany, free of charge. At arrival, nobody knew about our application, and they wanted to charge us £7.50 for our daughter to use the swimming pool. She goes there for swimming lessons, so was looking forward to going altogether. After much discussion with the staff and then "Duty Manager" (who had apparently left her name badge at home and was using a different badge!), they refused to waive the £7.50 and we had no other choice than going home. I understand they've got policies, but a monthly membership is over £50 per month, so two new members and good publicity is definitely worth a little gesture and losing £7.50. I am not surprised other reviews have complained about the appalling service. I cannot recommend this gym and will look for another place for our daughter.
Fantastic experience: Great place. It's clean. The gym equipment is modern. The reception staff are very friendly. The Aquarobics is good fun.

Positive experience: Most staff great apart from one lady who acted rude, i have a membership for another nuffield and was granted access to this one and she said straightaway your not allowed but luckily i had a note on the system to say otherwise, then she says my friend can't come in without photo ID, luckily he had some, she acted like she didn't want us there.Also they charge for towels yet this is a premium gym which you wouldn't expect in a nuffield. Gym and pool great and as mentioned all but one staff great.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym especially now it's had a full refurb of the gym area, all new equipment etc, plenty for all whatever your goals may be, also a good spa area. Only bad point is that once again the women have been moved to the men's changing room whilst their's gets worked on, so now we have to deal with that and lose the use of our steam room which is in the men's changing area (women's steam room is being worked on also so out of action) not on really but there ya go, got to be one negative ain't there.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym but better in the same nuffy health banding. Gym recently refitted however the rowing machines aren't as good as the old compact 2. Pool is good often no lifeguard. Need to bring own lock and towels cost extra, both are included in the Cambridge gym at the same band. Has a nursery too I think.
Positive experience: I am pretty pleased with the gym and the new equipment but I am puzzled buy the new showers I have been told they are finished but they are big gaps between the doors and a gaping circle in the door is it just me being a prude or is that normal

Positive experience: The gym facilities here are great, and I have visited plenty of Nuffields around the country to compare them from a previous membership and PayAsUGym (which I would recommend you should mention on the app details you need a lock for the lockers, as when I arrived to trial the gym didn't have one and was told to just keep my bag with me poolside). The pool area could do with a general upkeep in cleanliness as it does tend to get rather filthy especially on the floors, and chewing gum between the grates of the Jacuzzi - which is a bad habit of some of the visitors I understand. Same goes for the shower area. The staff on the desk are very polite to answer questions and say goodbye as you leave. Overall it's great for a workout, albeit very busy in rush hour, but there is definitely room for improvement to make the club more enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: It's improved massively with the new equipment. Really enjoy the new SPARK training sessions which are a serious HIIT work out almost reminds me off my pre season rugby days. The sauna and the pool area could do with an upgrade but overall now worth the money.

Positive experience: It's a pretty good gym! New machines and friendly staff. They need to keep on top of maintenance as there have been too many issues with air conditioning and the pool and spa. Sometimes it looks a bit grubby too but never as bad as some Nuffield Health gyms do.

Negative experience: I have been a member for around 18 months now and have to say they gradually getting worst. I like the facility in this gym, but class’s timetable in not very good unless you had retired. There are only few classes on Friday and that is when I usually attend the gym. There are good personal trainers and swimming coaches in the gym, however reception team is far from being professional. They often do not know what they are doing as well as not very helpful. They asked my mum who I took as a guest to the gym and was happy to pay £15 for the entrance fee – a photo ID, oh I am sorry I did not know I need to take a passport to attend the gym this days. I found this request to be rather humiliating. Kids membership - there is nothing you can do in the gym for it - just use a swimming pull. And this is a separate story because you are not able to use swimming pulls when you need it; there is a time table for a family swimming that is not always very convenient and finishes at 5 pm. Why one lane cannot be provided for families at all times? They are happy to collect kids membership but not happy to consider them as equal members. It is shame as it has been much better local gym under the Virgin management, I believe.

With regards to the class timetables, I am sorry to read that our current scheduling is not meeting your needs. The class timetable is reviewed on a quarterly basis and if members have suggestions for classes, we welcome them approaching our fitness managers and group exercise coordinators to present these. In line with the recent equipment installation we will be making changes to the timetable to incorporate the new top-of the-range Technogym equipment we have recently installed. We have made changes to the procedure for guests to enter in line with feedback from other members. In order to provide enhanced security and reduce the risk of thefts, all guests into the club are required to present ID before admission. We apologise however for any embarrassment this caused you. There are no plans to currently change the child membership structures. We are a family friendly club but have to also take into account footfall from adult members into the location. If there is sufficient demand from the majority of the membership, we can of course look into this again in the future. Fantastic experience: So I've been a member for 6 months now and have to say I really love this gym. Staff are really helpful and friendly. You're always greeted with a warm welcome. The facilities are really good too, only one time have I turned up and the sauna was out of order, which is much better than other clubs. You should really give this place a try! Also Emma has a Friday Yoga class which is awesome!

Negative experience: Rude not very helpful staff both the managers are rude dean being worst and there is all so a female how were both rude and on shift tonight I'm just glad I don't have a 12 month contract with this club as for that service it would have to be half the price they charge !

Fantastic experience: This gym is fantastic!!! The staff are very approachable and friendly and make you feel welcome instantly when entering. The pool, bathing areas and shower rooms are clean so ignore all negative posts as they're obviously from the Virgin gym days.. Highly recommend

Negative experience: As is aways the way new company takes of but nothing changes much all they have done is turned red walls in to green walls oh and put some new light bulbs on poolside never mind the faked the hole gym needs gutting and having new equipment put in place and new flooring as well it's not worth the rip of price's you have to pay the stuff are ok at best of times the men's changing rooms smell and look dirty there it never soap in places wear it's ment to be the sauna and steam room are never properly working and the pool needs a deep clean !
**UPDATE** Further to our previous response Peter, we are pleased to advise that we have now completed a re-invigoration of the gym floor, with a full update of the free weights and cardio areas, with top-of-the-range Technogym equipment. Negative experience: This would be a great gym if they just kept it clean and got some real strength equipment. Went there for a long time and eventually left for another gym after stopped being worth the ridiculous price you pay for it.
Negative experience: Seriously, I'm surprised by some of the positive reviews and ratings. This club was excellent when originally managed by Holmes Place, but has gone down hill in recent years under Virgin Active. Pros - Location, the club is only a ten minute walk from where I live. Cons - Unhelpful, disinterested, apathetic staff and management. - Club is oversubscribed, avoid having a workout or attending classes during peak periods. - Outdated facilities and limited (usually faulty) gym equipment. - Lack of gym etiquette, there's always a group of 'the lads' who hog the weights and machines. - Shower areas are always dirty, mouldy and smell fetid. - Showers don't work on occasions and the soap dispensers are either broken or empty. - Shower drains are always blocked, you'll find yourself standing in someone else's filth. - Flooring in the shower and pool areas is always grubby and dirty, even during quiet periods. - Steam room, sauna and jacuzzi never work as expected, smell fetid and are just disgusting. - Swimming pool water is dirty and grubby, you'll need a good shower afterwards (preferably at home).

Fantastic experience: I travel often and for the price, this is one of the better Virgin gyms - fantastic facilities of all kinds, a nice big free-weights area, very friendly and sociable trainers, and rarely as busy as most gyms even during the peak hours.
