Negative experience: During a recent workout, I found myself in an amusing scenario when a gym staff member approached me while I was on a FaceTime audio call with a friend. His message was clear: "This isn't the place to be on FaceTime." | couldn't help but chuckle at the irony, considering I'm well-versed in the gym's policies regarding phone use and recording others without permission. While I understand the importance of maintaining an appropriate environment, l found it perplexing that my brief phone call was singled out as inappropriate. I informed the staff member that I was aware of the policies, and frankly, I believe my private conversation during my workout is my business—not his concern. However he didn’t want to Listen to me Moreover, l've observed numerous individuals recording themselves without any reprimand, highlighting a double standard that is simply baffling. Staff member giving me attitude In a place where I should feel comfortable and safe .

Positive experience: Quite a small puregym. Limited fixed machines compared to others I have been to. Can get quite crowded quickly.

Fantastic experience: First time attending this gym since taking out this membership with my workplace. I can honestly say the app sold me from the beginning. I love the fact that there is loads of workouts to do on the app when you don’t have an idea of what to work on in the gym. I was also prompted to read and complete a CPR refresher training which I found useful. The gym was tidy and clean, women’s changing and shower room areas were very spacious . The instructor that completes the circuit sessions in the morning was very friendly and welcoming. He is an older instructor with loads of energy and good vibes. Loved the varied equipment

Negative experience: Great staffs and personal trainers, BUT there is a serious lack of hygiene in the gym for the amount of money we pay monthly. The toilets are always smelling and unkept hence we can not even use the changing room without throwing up.

Negative experience: Salam Bhai, my name is Aryan O. Nice to meeting you. Son of a lawyer, a very respected man in Smethwick. I am suing this gym due to the solid fact that the congestion is completely out of control, I walk into the changing room and there’s a man with his ding dong out. It’s just not good enough honestly, a good friend of mine pointed this gym out to me as one of the best in the country, looks like the absolute worst! Honestly, I will take this gym to court and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GYM. Yours Truly, Aryan O. Son of Lawyer by the way.
Positive experience: Gym not well equipped, you can only train at night when no one is there, also I don't understand why they have an entire room dedicated to women and this I think is a lack of justice, for this reason I no longer go there in addition to the fact that most of the subscribers is very rude and arrogant.

Positive experience: Very good, but there is a problem that the discount is made directly for each month during which there is supposed to be a subscription cancellation via the Internet

Fantastic experience: This gym is usually very clean, has a friendly vibe and is spacious. People are friendly and over the years I've brought a couple friends here and helped start them on their fitness journey. As a previous trainer assessor in Personal Training and current sports science lecturer, the current PT's I have seen work through the week are quite good. I've seen Liam and Lloyd work with clients and chatted to those clients a couple of times, and the testimonies are always good. I've also seen the difference in clients that these guys have worked with. The PT industry can be saturated with poor trainers but you'll be looked after well here. I personally chose Keith as a PT Oct/Nov 2021 as I needed that kick up the backside. Keith listened to my goal of fat loss and had put me through my paces during our sessions. It always felt like I had nothing left in the tank afterwards which is what I needed. I then decided to attend his gym classes before or after my general strength/hypertrophy sessions and it was good to see Keith's awareness of each person's ability. Pushing those who seemed too comfortable in the class and encouraging those that it was a struggle for. A good sign was that his classes were always busy too. I'd started to see quick progress.....then Christmas hit! So I am looking at doing more sessions with Keith but at the moment on Tuesday mornings at 10am he is doing a 30minute session for £5. I can't stress enough how much value for money this is! It is really hard work but working out isn't meant to be easy. It also seems the new management are on top of things, never coming across as looking down at their staff or gym members are open to help others.

One of the standout features is the gym's 24/7 availability. It's incredibly convenient, allowing me to fit workouts into my busy schedule, whether early in the morning or late at night. The space is well-maintained and machines are regularly cleaned, which is reassuring, especially in these times. The staff at PureGym Birmingham West deserves a special mention. They are friendly, approachable, and always willing to help or offer advice. The personal trainers are knowledgeable and seem genuinely interested in helping members achieve their fitness goals. Classes are another highlight. They are varied and cater to all fitness levels. I've found them to be energetic and motivating, a great way to mix up my routine. However, the gym can get quite crowded during peak hours, which sometimes means waiting for certain equipment. Also, while the locker rooms are generally clean, they can be a bit cramped during busy times. Negative experience: The is very rude and when they have classes they high the valume of the music you feel your in desco I changed my time table because of classes they always gave me headaches and they don’t let you play on that place I recommend people please don’t waste your money

Negative experience: Showers are always freezing cold it's been over a month and this issue hasn't been resolved. I've cancelled my membership and now I moved to sandwell aquatic centre thank god.

Negative experience: hey there Some one called parm using my code and my friends code in pure gym and he leaked our code to his other friends IDK how is that person and how he got my code but please I can't go to gym for 1 week I need help to change my code there is no manager there to help and there is no service in gym. Positive experience: I was about to cancel my membership because the gym was very outdated and not very clean at times. To my surprise, they have recently refurbished the gym floor and added all brand new machines, squat racks, and new dumbbells and weights! It looks like a completely different place! Thank you so much for the amazing upgrade, definitely needed!

Negative experience: banned me beacuse i went to the gym twice in 1 day for pin abusing apparently

Negative experience: There has been lots of restructuring at the branch lately and lot of classes have been removed. They have never had many dance/ zumba/aerobic/ fun classes , now practicly zero. f you are a person which could benefit from free body exercise classes,then you will be disappointed. I hope they can offer better classes in the near future or I would need to do my dance/aerobic classes somewhere else. Classes punctuality as well can be improved.

Negative experience: Why does Birmingham West PureGym not offer the option of off peak tariffs when all the other surrounding PureGym in West Midlands do. I've noticed this change on the website since the march 2023 month whereas they have always had both options prior to this. As that option suits myself due to my working pattern. I am not happy with this as all other gyms locally do have off peak tariffs. Therefore I will be looking to join another company which has the options which are more suitable.

Negative experience: I want to say a lot, but the space here is not enough. I went to many halls that belong to this company, but I did not see such badness in this branch, except that the people there are impolite, the toilets are always dirty, the gym is like a prison, and the weights are always on the floor. I do not understand why people in this hall look As if they were cavemen (especially when leaving the weights on the ground without returning them, there must be a little civility in this hall and there is bad management of the gym and the reason is that a company has filled its treasury and has begun to neglect gyms

Positive experience: Very good gym but some machines have been out of order for a while now so has the lift but apart from that I really like this gym

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Positive experience: If you want a good, cheap gym, open 24 hours, with a ladies section and free parking then this is a good option for you. If you don't like crowds then it's not for you. Always very crowded especially 6 to 9 pm.

Negative experience: I started back in July as a newbie didn't know anything about the gym but it was great experience But the customer service and the way to cancel your membership is very confusing and disappointing as I cancelled on December 2 weeks before they took the money of me and my membership continued to be active while I cancelled it They took £38 of me while I didn't have any idea that they did Contacted customer service on the email and they are useless saying that I didn'cancel it but I did If you see this please reach out to me as I need help asap I want a refund

Positive experience: I have been going to this gym for the last 3 months approximately. The best thing about it is it has a ladies only area and personally this is something that is needed. However, their equipment is dated, the treadmills in the ladies area always have problems. They’re either frozen and not working at all or they work but when you use the inclination that doesn’t work well. Being someone who has joined the gym to mostly use cardio equipment I’m honestly very disappointed with the level of equipment in the ladies area. I have been to the pure gym on broad street 7/8 years ago and even back then the equipment at that gym was better than the treadmills in the ladies area at birmingham west. Something honestly needs to be done about this as I can honestly say this is one of the busiest gyms I have been to for the size and their treadmills are definitely dated. I have been to other gyms that cost the same as pure gym that had the most up to date equipment and I talk mostly about treadmills. The other equipment found at pure gym is fine and generally work well and have no issues but if you’re after a good treadmill in the ladies area then this area is not for you. PureGym please update your treadmills in the ladies area. I can assure you all women using them will be extremely grateful including myself.

Negative experience: Music is too loud, dirty toilets and changing room and not enough equipment. I have been to other puregym branches and this is definitely not one of the better ones.

Positive experience: This is the best gym I’ve ever set foot in , clean and cheap and good, only soiled by one gentleman by the name of Mr S Bains , a big lad that knows what he wants . He’s at least 7 foot and trains in the most intimidating manner, he is also unreasonably muscular and whenever I do squats its like he’s undressing me with his eyes , also there’s a mad hole in the wall

Negative experience: Hello there is a problem regarding your system with updating new member ship I have on many occasions have tried to log my details to sign up for your gym Having so many attempts I still couldn’t sign up for the gym membership I went into the gym today & the staff where amazing Especially Lucy the manager she tried to help me as much as she could but still I couldn’t get my membership Lucy advised me to call my bank which I did they have advised me that there is nothing wrong with my card details this is confirmed. Positive experience: I very much like this gym, open 24hrs, clean equipment, friendly staff, and good people at the gym. However, there is a real problem with some of the male gym members. Last night there was a puddle of urine on floor in the men's locker rooms. I would advise any members to keep their trainers on at all times. Never go bearfoot inside the locker room. In the last two months, twice someone has bent my padlock trying to access my locker. I would advise anyone to never leave their valuables in the lockers, as some locker doors have been pryed open and damaged in the process. If you are going to this gym, please do not leave your phone, wallet, or money inside the locker as thieves are targeting lockers. There is a hole in the drywall just outside the changing rooms. And the toilets and showers are left in appaling conditions, and smells of a unpleasant odour of feces. Overall the gym is good on the outside, but I would avoid the locker rooms. Just a shame that one portion is ruining the gym experience. I would like to maybe see more lockers on the outside, or improvements to the lockers.

Fantastic experience: There is a lady area, only ladies there so feel very comfortable to do exercises. The place is very clean. Classes are very interesting for everyone who wants to lose weight and strengthen their bodies. All staff and fitness instructors are very friendly! Worth the money!

Positive experience: I love this gym, I really do. The facilities and equipment here is top notch. Just amazing, however there is one slight problem. That is Mr Bains. He is very intimidating and muscular and always does bicep curls in the squat rack. I have also caught him trying to sneak into the ladies only section. He scares me.

Positive experience: Pretty decent gym and equipment. It’s more than enough for experienced gym goers and people at the start of their fitness journeys. A few notes for improvement however, some of the equipment have pins or attachments missing and the organisation of free weights could be better. Other than that it’s quite nice.

Staff undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Negative experience: I've newly joined the gym since joining I haven't see any staff around the gym apart from one who was cleaning also staff need to communicate with members more. As for classes I haven't tried one yet however I noticed you have to pay for certain classes compared to another gym where you don't have to.

Positive experience: Such a nice gym, since i joined it has really motivated to follow a healthier lifestyle, as the staff are really helpful too. However this one gentlemen Mr S Bains, seems to think he owns the gym and goes about his training in an intimidating manor. As I was squatting and recording myself ton check my form, i spotted him sitting on the bench following my squats with his eyes. This made me feel quite objectified, I was too scared to confront him as he is intimidating. Also he is always using the pull up bare near the ladies section and is always lurking in that area, seems he is quite interested in them. This gym is great as most other gym goers will help you and give a spot where needed, just this Mr S Bains makes lot of people feel uneasy. Please can the staff look into this

Negative experience: Some things don't change. I had an issue with the pin to get in but management can't be bothered to come and help because they were in a meeting . 5 years ago when I used to be an active member I saw the same problem happening to others and I went straight in the managers office and spoke my mind

Negative experience: Been using here for two weeks the sports water I pay extra for the machine hasn’t worked the whole time parts missing from machines rendering them useless a water fountain to fill your bottle is only supplying warm water regardless of how long it runs now the showers are out of order for next 5 days maybe the manager should visit PureGym maypole see how it should be done seriously thinking of cancelling and joining anytime fitness

Positive experience: Been going to this gym for some time very clean and lovely but only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars because the male staff enter the women’s area with out announcing it at all I’ve been to a couple of gyms with a only women’s section and before a male member enters they announce it to the ladies that they’re gonna enter in 5 minutes so I don’t understand why this gym can’t do it .

Positive experience: I done a circuit and abs class yesterday which was brilliant just what I needed. The class was instructed by Lucy who was amazing she was so informative and gave me the time and reassurance I needed. Overall the gym has a good vibe and the instructors are always smiling and very welcoming, the only downfall is the gym can be extremely busy at times and I do find the equipment abit on top of each other but for the space they have, they do have a wide range for everyone.

Fantastic experience: Great pure gym, enought space for everyone to get their workout done. This one has a women only area so it great for the lady's so the misses loves it. Has alot of equipment, would says not busy early hours of the morning. Weekend tends to very at this one. You have free parking up too 3 hours I believe, so great to do your session and get some food shopping done while you're there.
