Negative experience: Very disappointed with my visit there. No communication between staff and customers about times, people on phones and vaping in sauna and steam,with no staff around to complain to,I found the surfaces very slippery. Biggest complaint is that a message and locker key was left with a member of staff for me, I didn't get either and was left panicking in reception,wet in a towel,the person who had the key and message had forgotten about it so I was left wet and cold in reception with nobody actually helping me. I had booked this because I really needed something relaxing and my visit here left me more stressed than when I arrived.

Fantastic experience: Had a spa treatment booked as a present, and I believe the lady was called Katia who did my massage and facial. She was absolutely fantastic, very knowledgeable and recommended things to sort out my sore muscles in my back. Definitely feeling much better aswell after the treatment! I’m always a bit nervous and anxious when going to a spa and she made me feel so welcome, comfortable and relaxed so I could truly enjoy myself :)

Positive experience: While this gym has some great staff and a welcoming environment, my overall experience was marred by a bizarre and frustrating encounter with a janitor. What started as him watching me train quickly turned into unnecessary drama. I could tell my technique on the heavy bag made him question his own boxing abilities—he has just three wins to his name—and jealousy began to cloud his behavior. Instead of focusing on improving himself, he chose to act out, playing attention-seeking games and eventually threatening me. At one point, I decided enough was enough and offered a straightforward solution: we should train together and spar to settle things. I asked not once, but five times, giving him the opportunity to back up his words. Each time, he dodged the idea, proving his talk was all smoke and mirrors. Here’s the reality: someone who has never been kicked in the legs has no concept of how fragile they are under trained strikes. They think they’re invincible until the first well-placed kick changes everything. Similarly, someone without any grappling experience might delude themselves into believing they can hold their own, not realizing how easily a trained grappler can take them down, achieve full mount, and dominate them. The truth is simple: in a real sparring situation, his skull would be slammed into the ground long before he could even comprehend what was happening. When I confronted his threat face-to-face, the difference between his bravado and reality became glaringly obvious. He shivered like a leaf, unable to stand by the words he had so confidently thrown around. It was a clear sign that his insecurity was driving his actions, not genuine skill or courage. On the flip side, the rest of the staff at the gym were fantastic—friendly, professional, and incredibly supportive. They created a positive environment that unfortunately was overshadowed by this one individual’s antics. I will also say that the gym as a whole felt a bit too social for my taste. While some people thrive in an environment full of chatter and camaraderie, I prefer a more disciplined, training-focused atmosphere. Between the constant distractions and the unnecessary drama brought on by the janitor, it was hard to feel fully immersed in my training. Overall, the gym has potential, but the combination of an overly social vibe and one individual’s childish antics made the experience less enjoyable for me.

Negative experience: I recently booked the Bannatyne Blissful Spa Day with a 25 Minute Treatment for Two People and for the treatment l chose the full body scrub for me and my mum. The facilities were nice but unfortunately ONE of the treatments was disappointing. My mum and l had very different experiences. My mum's treatment included a relaxing massage with oils/moisturiser as part of the full body scrub. My treatment only included the scrub without the massage. This wasn't even a full body scrub, as the masseur missed my feet and hands. After our treatments, my mum's masseur advised that l should have received the full treatment inclusive of a massage, so I spoke to my masseur who apologised and offered me to go back to the room for the full experience, but l declined as l had to go. I also spoke to the manager about this, a lady called Lesley, as l thought she should be aware about the difference in treatments. I found her tone and attitude rude, and l was surprised when she said that my mum should not have had the full experience. I have had this treatment on many occasions in other Spas and it has always included a body massage. It is the Spa's responsibility to provide clear and accurate information to customers about treatments. The misinformation provided by the staff and the difference in experinces shows poor management of the Spa and does not reflect well on Bannatyne's reputation. Needless to say, l will not be going back.

Negative experience: We were due to come for a spa day however storm darragh meant our travel was disrupted. We called to advise we would be late and upon finding out the dartford bridge crossing was closed we called again to ask if we could reschedule, the receptionist advised we couldn’t over the phone but gave us the head office email and told us they would be able to instead. We turned around and drove home and emailed only to be told we couldn’t reschedule or get a refund. What a waste of time, I would suggest better training for the receptionists on company policy because we never would’ve turned around if we knew we would lose out on nearly £100!

Negative experience: For the amount you pay the place is grotty at least 4 of the treadmills either need to be re-treaded, lubed or replacing and they offer you TV channels you can't access the pool and sauna is always packed and the cafe is hardly ever open, on the upside the staff the few they are, are nice enough

Fantastic experience: From entering the spa to warm friendly staff we were shown around the complex with clear explanations given throughout. We used the Pool, Jacuzzi and steam room which were all comfortable and not too crowded. Then onto treatments with Lisa and Ellie, best back massage and facial ever. The changing room facilities were spacious, clean and tidy too. Not to forget the cozy robes that actually covered me as a bigger lady. Great experience all round.

Fantastic experience: Excellent range of classes and instructors. I’ve been going to this Club for a number of years and thoroughly enjoy my daily workouts as well as seeing all the other members who attend the same classes as me. There is a warm & friendly vibe & the staff are helpful. The wonderful gym staff: Sarah, Cormac, Chloe & Cheryl run half hour classes throughout the week which are varied. They encourage us to push ourselves and sometimes we use the gym equipment and other times just our body weight but we always have a great workout. No class is ever the same. I also enjoy taking part in the following classes: Pound, Body Pump, Bootcamp, Group Cycling, Young at Heart, Zumba and Yoga and Aqua aerobics. All the instructors are brilliant and from attending the gym I have got to know lots of lovely members.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with my visit. Arrived at 11.50 for my 12.15 appointment, I was taken in just after 12.15 and the massage therapist returned at 12.20 to start the massage. The massage was ok but a very short amount of time later she stopped and began looking through cupboards and writing something down. She then announced the treatment was over and began to explain she’d written down a recommendation and so on. She then left the room so I checked the time and it was 12.37! Meaning the treatment had stopped a few minutes before so I paid £56 for a 13-15 minute massage. They claim they have to stop early to prepare the room for the next person - why is that eating into MY treatment time?! It should be factored into the schedule! As usual, big corporation ripping people off and ensuring that people won’t return or recommend

Fantastic experience: I was gifted a spa day and decided to book this club due to it being the most closely located to me. My sister and I went together and we had such a relaxing and lovely day. We started with our treatment (Swedish massage) which we were both happy with. We made use of the relaxation room, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, sauna and stream room. The relaxation room was so nice that we both had a nap! The outdoor hot tub is the best part of the spa and it’s just lovely. The indoor hot tub was very cold so we didn’t spend long in there, but there was space in the outdoor hot tub throughout the day (which was very warm) so it didn’t really matter. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly which contributed to the overall positive experience. At times the outdoor hot tub was very loud with talking, but if you’re booking a spa day you should understand that a lot of the other people at the spa will be members of the health club and it does have a ‘social vibe’, which we personally loved but each to their own. My sister and I left feeling extremely relaxed and we were very happy with the experience overall.

Negative experience: We went here after being gifted a Spa Day Voucher for 2 with Lunch. I personally wouldn't recommend it if you are looking forward to a nice, relaxing spa day. It's primary purpose is the gym and you very much feel that you are encroaching on their facilities when you get to the sauna/steam room and jacuzzi. It's not a very relaxing atmosphere at all. The lunch options were literally 3 different things on toast or a jacket potato and the cafe was so depressing that we skipped lunch altogether. The main positive was that our massages were lovely and the masseuses were both fantastic.

Negative experience: The recent comments I have read regarding the spa services have raised concerns about the overall quality and experience provided. While I understand that expressing my dissatisfaction may not directly impact the establishment's approach, I feel compelled to share my experience in the hopes of preventing others from encountering similar disappointments. I had booked a spa day for my partner with the intention of providing a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell short of our expectations. While the massage itself was commendable, the other aspects of the spa experience were severely lacking. The changing rooms were in an unacceptable state, clearly indicating a lack of proper cleaning and maintenance. The sauna, which should have been a source of relaxation, was equally disappointing. The hot tubs appeared uninviting and unhygienic, deterring us from using them altogether. To add to our dissatisfaction, there was a mix-up in our treatments, resulting in an interruption of the massage. Although the massage therapists were professional and friendly, the overall experience was marred by these unfortunate circumstances. Based on my experience, I would recommend that the spa management focus primarily on providing high-quality spa services and refrain from promoting the use of additional facilities that are not adequately maintained. The lack of seating by the pool, hot beds not hot, and unpleasant odors in the changing rooms significantly detracted from the overall experience. In conclusion, while the massage was satisfactory, the substandard state of the facilities and the organizational issues overshadowed any potential for a truly relaxing spa day. I hope that by sharing my experience, I can help others make informed decisions when choosing a spa for their relaxation needs.It is with regret that I must advise against recommending or returning to the establishment. Due to a system error on their part, we were offered the opportunity to revisit and utilize the facilities; however, no amount of compensation could entice us to return. Furthermore, the food was presented on what can only be described as a large saucer, and the menu did not accurately reflect the items served

Negative experience: I booked for my cousin & I as birthday/post baby treat and to say we were disappointed is an understatement We had a mini massage, facial and head massage in a duo treatment room . We both felt as the treatment was rushed, there was whispering between therapist during the treatment, crashing and banging of bottles to get product out . The aircon was freezing we were both also very cold. After the treatment we were rushed to get changed as they needed the room . We left the treatment feeling anything but relaxed . We got changed into our robes and went into the relaxation room which seemed lovely except the fact people were on their phones although that wasn’t allowed, very loud talking and laughing . We decided to go into the indoor hot tub which was okay but barely warm the outside hot tub was nice as we’re the steam and sauna room . The pool however was far from pleasant people jumping in splashing people . The changing rooms and shower smelt definitely needed a good clean and maintenance If you want a rushed non relaxing spa day I 100% recommend however if you want to leave feeling relaxed and replenished DO NOT BOOK HERE

Fantastic experience: Worthwhile visit. Was for a birthday celebration. Cafe has limited choice but great staff and nice food. Not much seating in pool area. Treatments were great m. Definitely worth a visit

Fantastic experience: The staff both at reception and in the spa facilities was amazing for our visit, as a wheelchair user they was super accommodating, even when the lift broke unexpectedly they set up a downstairs table for our lunch and made sure we had the best experience we could. The members was also very polite helping with the doors and moving out of our way to let us through at all times. Will definitely be using again, thank you to all the staff at Bannatyne.

Negative experience: For the price you pay you expect the gym to be exceptionally clean and immaculate. Unfortunately the price does not reflect that. The dressing rooms always have a bad smell and is not always clean. The air con alot of the times is not working. They keep increasing the prices and to be honest its not worth it at all. I have cancelled my membership and will be joining another gym at half the price. You need to do better especially if you are robbing people at £65 a month and if you keep increasing the price you will be losing customers.

Positive experience: Toilets and changing rooms smelt. Indoor hot tub was barley warm. In the spas relaxation room there was lots of talking despite being asked to stop and signs saying not to talk. Was so over barring I left the room. Massage and scrub was lovely and overall service was good.

Fantastic experience: Had a really lovely time at the Spa today with my daughter. The pools are spacious and it was very busy today. Everywhere is kept clean and I had the best massage and facial ever by the lovely Cat. All in all a great experience l!

Negative experience: Horrible spa treatment. Masseuse asked me where if i had any specific muscle pain and I pointed to my right side specifying underneath the shoulder blade. She then proceeded to massage everywhere apart from the section that was actually needed until the time ran out. When i asked her to go over the side i actually needed it on she said i would need to pay for a different session. What exactly did pay for in this session then?? i entered that massage wanted to feel more relaxed and left with the same back pain feeling unsatisfied and even frustrated that i waited the whole day for that. definitely not a relaxing experience. Don't risk your money and time with this place.

Positive experience: 4th annual girls spa day for four of us, facilities are good, treatments felt a bit rushed and not enough relaxation beds available. It was the school holidays so understandably more busy. Still had an enjoyable time, however, food and spa services were not as good as last year.

Fantastic experience: This gym is fantastic, especially for tennis. The facilities are well-maintained, and the courts are in excellent condition, with plenty of space and proper lighting for evening matches. Coach Clive is exceptional—he brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to every session. His coaching style is both encouraging and effective, making it easy for players of all skill levels to improve. The gym also offers great amenities like clean locker rooms and a variety of fitness classes. Staff members are friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming environment. Highly recommend for tennis and overall fitness!

Fantastic experience: Second time visiting and always worth the experience to spend the day. My partner and I both had great massages from the spa and received very helpful service from the main reception team. I would say its very clean and is always being kept up to standards with staff. Swimming pool, heated pool, outside jacuzzi, steam and sauna room available. Good place and would recommend to anyone looking to spend a relaxing day.

Negative experience: 1 start based on the fact that this branch never done anything to improve despite the complaints. Massage: collect you late from quiet room, which is not quiet at all and finish before the 30 minutes, end up in a 20 min massage. Hot tub more often cold than hot. Filthy as hell in changing rooms, showers. Sanitiser boxes always empty. Bad behaviour in the gym not controlled, same in the swimming pool, the list goes on…

Negative experience: Went spa with friend, for birthday treats. On entering had to pay for ropes, towel and slippers. Lunch was awful only small choice, coffee machine wasn’t working. The treatment was ok, they offered up grade as 1/2 price, but was unable to as the girls we had where not trained. The pool was very busy, the sauna wasn’t great. Bird poo on most of beds and chairs, no were to lay/sit around pool. Wouldn’t recommend or go back!

Negative experience: Do not use these as Spa and Treament facilities This was a present for my 50th birthday for myself and Daughter for 40min treatment and Spa Day. I’ve been to many treatments and spa, this was the worst by far. On arrival we were told we had to pay additional £10 plus £10 deposit each for use of robe towels and slippers . I asked why wasn’t we told this on booking or in the registration email that the bundle was not included, so we have the option to bring our own. The treatment room was cold the oil was cold, no nice smelling products was used in the room or in the products just oil. Place in the chair wear you put your face stunk like sweet old trainers. No conversation pre treatment with beautician about treatment. We was not made informed our treatment was together. while having the treatment it felt the beautician was racing each other, nothing was explained during the treatment. And what was done on one side wasn’t the same on the other., felt rushed. Piece of tissue!!!! was place over your eyes for eye mask/eyetowel which kept slipping. Head massage and foot massage was awful no pressure point was used, didn’t extend around the neck and why was she scratching the side of my head, is that a new technique!!!!! Treatment Room was know where near the spa had to walk through main reception and corridors which was busy with gym members coming and going , reception explained this is more a leisure centre than spa facilities…..that say it all. We didn’t feel rejuvenated or relaxed , awful experience, the whole treatment included getting dressed and undressed was don’t in 30mins. We left greasy smelling like sweaty old trainers,

Negative experience: Booked this through spaseekers... Just be aware that if you are looking to book a spa day/afternoon with a treatment and relaxing by the pool/sauna/jacuzzi/steam room THIS ISNT THAT. The spa facilities here are mainly for the use of the people who have a monthly membership for the gym as well. The first thing a fellow customer said to us when we walked into the stone bed room fully clothed because they told us we didn't have time to get changed was "oh they don't tell you anything, I got no information from them"... Yeah should have been an omen. So the facilities The pool: small but it does the job, it has lanes for swimming and it's primary function is for that. Customers from the 'spa' will be disappointed. The jacuzzi: it looked grubby tbh. The temperature was good but there was a wet piece of tissue thrown up aganst the wall which looked like it belonged there. The silicon was all coming away around the edges and the telly showing bargain hunt didnt have subtitles so even if you were interested in watching unless you can lip read good luck. The steam room: it felt grubby but functioned. The main thing that really takes away from the 'spa day's experience is that you have to walk through reception and what feels like a tour through the health club to get to the pool and facilities from the spa or from the facilities to the hot stone beds (mine was cold) Outdoor jacuzzi: close your eyes and picture a jacuzzi on top of a dirty concrete multi story car park and you're imagination will be nicer than what was there. It didn't look appealing at all to the point where we didn't even bother. The treatment we booked the back, neck and shoulder massage *was* lovely! But if you asked me if it was worth £89 and the use of the facilities for a day the answer would be absolutely not. I'm actually pretty annoyed at the cost for what we got. Not only that it states on the website about hiring "spa bags" which contain a robe and flip flops it mentions a £10 deposit for these bags which is fair... What it doesn't mention is that it's actually a £10 deposit and a £10 fee which you don't get back. From the email I received.... "Spa robes, towels & footwear are available to hire, the cost is £10-12 per person depending on location. We require a deposit when hiring our spa bags. You may also choose to bring your own, if preferred." So after id paid £40 (thinking I'd get that back) I'm actually fuming that I'm only getting £20 of that back. It is possible to keep the bag and flip flops but seriously for £10??! I'll add a picture. My partner didn't know this and handed his back. So I paid for the pleasure of using their stained manky robes. Make it clear in your emails that the two fees are in fact separate!! The more I think about how much we paid for the experience the more angry I am really. If you want to book this for someone you DONT like them go ahead but if you actually want to treat someone please don't. Bannatynes and spa seekers will be hearing from me.

Negative experience: Shocking place calls itself a "spa" Relaxing if you like having a massage from a walking crip packet and asthma. £89 for me and my partner believing it's a relaxing spa when in fact it wasn't relaxing at all... Not a great welcome and very confusing as we were just told to go into the relaxation room first fully clothed... We asked where we could get changed and we're told to just get changed "in the room" what room.... Obviously not the relaxation room as there were other people in there so we had to change in the main spa reception area as we were told we didn't have time to go to the main complex changing rooms 6 mile away... Jokes aside we expected the spa facilities like the steam room and pool to be for relaxing but was full, and I mean FULL of others using the facilities like the gym and was loud with a group of young males (big kids) jumping around pushing eachother into the pool.... To top things off we were changed £40 NOT the £10 each DEPOSIT the website said for the use of robe and towel to which we were meant to get back as worded as a DEPOSIT..... We were changed and additional £10 each so we only got £20 back deposit... Very confusing as we would have brought our own robes and towels if we knew they were going to rip us off ... 100% will never use this place again and Id say to anyone wishing to do so NOT to

Fantastic experience: Visited for a spa day. Very good facilities and amazing swimming pool, the inside jacuzzi kept stopping and eventually became out of services. The pass was booked last year and they kept cancelling for lack of staff however we have managed to rebook for this year and it was very good. I will definitely come back. Negative experience: Had a spa day booked for my birthday , so so disappointed, the gym was absolutely disgusting not sure when it was last cleaned , dust and dirt everywhere!!!! The equipment was sooo old don’t think it’s ever been updated since it was built , female changing room had a very strong smell of urine and there was a pair of dirty knickers just laying in the corner Showers not clean , toilets filthy too and to make things worse coffee machine was broke and the smoothie machine was also broke , wanted a cappuccino with my lunch and was offered a instant coffee , for a multi million pound business this was a disgrace

Positive experience: Had a spa day last week with daughter. We had booked the wrong spa so reading the reviews we were alittle worried but it turned out to be a lovely day. Our treatments were lovely and relaxing and the staff treated us really well. The pool area was ok and done what we needed. The receptionist was very helpful and the food was ok in the cafe. Was a good day out.

Negative experience: I had my treatment done today, and to be honest it was the worst experience considering it's supposed to be a "Pamper Day". The facial treatment felt rushed unlike previous treatment I had before. The body scrub was fine however when the treatment was complete the lady asked me to take my time to relax and get ready whenever. As I was getting ready the ladies at the spa kept knocking saying they needed the room even though it hasn't been 10 minutes post treatment baring in mind the spa was empty and I was wiping off excess from the body scrub treatment which took time. Overall, for the price paid, it didn't meet my expectation and I'm very disappointed with the supposed pampering. I've had spa treatments in the past at Bannatynes but never like this.

Negative experience: Three stars for the mini back, arms and hands and facial - professional and enjoyable with nice products. Two stars for the overall "spa" experience. It really can't call itself a spa - you need to walk from the treatment room/relaxation area in your robe/slippers, through reception (by the front door) and through turnstiles to get to the sauna, pool, steam and outdoor hot tub. This was a major downside in my experience. Aside from the treatment rooms and the relaxation area (heated tiled loungers in a room, nice for 10 mins) the rest of the centre is very much a leisure centre. You also have to walk a long way from the treatment room to the changing rooms too and it's not a pleasant view. Dark, soulless. The pool is ok but we had to get out for an aerobics class. The dry sauna and steam room also ok but busy. If youve come on Wowcher and paid £45 each or whatever, it's okay value with the treatments. If you've come for a proper spa "day" be warned, you'll be done in a couple of hours and there's nowhere to relax except for the....... Finally, and sorry to add another negative, but the cafe is the saddest, most miserable place ever. Coffee is terrible!! Burnt and awful. No healthy snacks on sale just a couple of lonely slices of cake wrapped in cling film and a few bags of crisps. I ordered a "freshly made to order" smoothie which was frozen produce thrown in a blender with some cranberry juice. I can understand why the staff look like they'd rather be anywhere else.

Negative experience: I use only this gym to play squash is only 2 courts in that gym!!!! People booking courts to using this place for exercise like football and cross fit using own equipment. This is joke!!!!! I have big argument with manager Nikola regarding this. She told me anyone can booking courts to do what they want. Is fanny, because Is not right!!! She was very rude. In the gym is plenty of space upstairs to do exercise. Squash courts are for Squash players. I didn't see any one playing squash or football in the gym area or tennis courts!!!!!!! Gym is very dirty and showers stings!!! Lot of equipment is broken and out of use!!! Is to many people in the gym!!! Should be some restrictions. Regards Marek

Negative experience: if you want a relaxing spa day don’t go to Chafford hundred very crowded steam room full sauna full jacuzzi full and water very murky also next to the pool where the noise from the trainer shouting in a microphone giving a water aerobics class along with the music was deafening as it also echoes had no idea why she needed a microphone Robes and towels are not supplied but you can rent them for £10 and a £10 deposit The girl I had to do my back massage couldn’t rub sun tan lotion in and massaged my scapula bone which is not nice it was all very quick and erratic . In the bar area there wasn’t any healthy food options just things like pizza and toasted cheese and ham sandwiches just junk food This place is really just like a sports centre, I go to my local everyone active centre and I think it has more of a relaxed feeling there.ive been to a Bannatyne’s spa day before in Colchester a completely different experience is was about 5 years ago though I was hoping this experience was going to be the same .

Negative experience: Had a spa date book for my birthday. First the young lady who was doing the facial and a few order things. Not sure exactly what she was doing. More oil and more oil on top of oil. My face felt so heavy after. The changing was dirty with lots of black mark in the corner. I was scare even to have a shower after . I wouldn't recommend this place as better and cleaner place around.

Positive experience: Staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Everything was explained & we were shown around. Spa area was relaxing and treatments were good. Pool, sauna, steam room & jacuzzi areas were clean and enjoyable, but there wasn't any loungers to relax around the pool & the air temperature was a little chilly. This was a shame as I wanted to spend more time there. Spa and pool are not connected, so once you're in your swimwear, you have to walk back & forth through public areas (in your robe!) A great value day out, though.

Negative experience: Toilets in spa and swimming changing area were both dirty and obviously never get checked. My treatment (if that is what you would call it) was a waste of money, I came out feeling very disappointed, I had a mini back massage, scalp massage and foot massage, she spent more time on my legs and not in my feet. The scalp massage, she didn’t even touch my head or scalp but just played with my hair, ( my children at nursery do a better job on my hair) i even had to ask the girl to apply more pressure on my head. I was meant to have 45 minute treatment but only had 30 minutes. My sister was with me and they forgot about her even after telling they were cleaning a bed and will call her, after 10 minutes she has to go and find someone to see what was happening, her treatment from poppy was good. I am very disappointed with the treatment we received and how unorganised it all was, we didn’t even get any form or written information on what treatment we had. This was a birthday present from my son for my 50th birthday, and was really looking forward to today but have been left feeling very sad and disappointed. I await for your response. Many thanks.

Negative experience: Disgusting is all I can say. Filthy place, work men working while you are trying to relax. Mix up with treatments had to chase them up, no one approached us. No feed back forms given, when other people had received some. Was a 50th Birthday present to my sister, never again.

Negative experience: have been using this gym for over a year - the classes are 10/10 alongside the gym facilities and staff available to answer any questions you have. what i think it really not great are the facilities outside of the gym - corridors smell of damp mould and desperately need a paint job and revamp - changing rooms are 3/10 - after 10AM they’re dirty, specially the showers and private changing rooms, to which some locks don’t work. - memberships are starting to outgrow the gym facilities - the sauna is packed on weekdays and there are usually people having to wait to use it. - there is no straightforward way to access private sessions for their Tennis Courts (even though these are done privately these should still be incoorporated into the app considering it’s a part of the club)

Positive experience: Had the best spa and gym day here. The massage was top notch and professionally done, the gym was incredible (full of brilliant free weights and weighted machines), and the sauna and steam rooms were fab. All areas were clean and well maintained. The only flaw is that it could do with a paint job as the decor looks dated. Other than that, it's a great place to unwind and work out.

Positive experience: Came here for a spa day! Louise done a back, head and foot massage, honestly it was the best massage I’ve ever had! She was incredible!! If she wasn’t doing our massage, I would have given this place a 1 star! I’m sure it’s great as a local gym, but as a spa day it was the most unrelaxing day and it was also so full, we could barely go anywhere due to no space! Also the relaxation room had groups of people chatting, such a shame! I’d come back for a massage, but not a spa day!

Negative experience: The staff are really friendly and helpful. But I don't like the fact that most visitors from the sauna or steam room go directly to the pool to wash off their sweat. This is disgusting. I hate swimming in such water. And I think I will cancel my membership when time comes

Positive experience: I think the Reviews are far too critical. 4 only because there are intended 5 star health club and spas. Rating it for what it is, a health club and spa, it's actually very good. All the staff were lovely and very helpful, someone who I assume was part of management didn't smile at all despite me laughing and smiling with her but she was still helpful. I was booked in for a spa day with treatments at chafford hundred, my treatments were all lovely not rushed at all like some reviews suggest. Spa bag to hire for £20( £10 refundable) not the best due to constant washing robe was not fluffy but rather that than dirty. All facilities were clean and available to use except one shower that was out of order but plenty more available. Steam room and jacuzzi located near pool, hot tub outside just to the side of the pool. The gym is very well equipped with 3 large spaces, including boxing and calisthenics area. Ample parking. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Negative experience: Booked a birthday treat with a Buyagift voucher, each person entitled to a treatment up to 55mins. Four options when booking online and absolutely appalled when my sister came back within 25 mins. The treatments themselves were ok but the towels were well past their best. When I asked to speak to the manager they just sent the therapist back and said those were the treatments we booked. I hadn't got my phone with me so couldn't check the details.

Negative experience: Very poor hygiene! especially in the showers, can’t even describe how unpleasant is to take a shower there. Mold everywhere in the shower, piles of hair, the showers are dirty and clearly not maintained. The lockers are also dirty and broken. Poor hygiene is even in the gym itself. It’s frustrating, such a high price and still careless about the customers, you should be very ashamed. You need an overhaul!!! I will not be going to this gym even again and I do not recommend it to others.

Negative experience: Completely overpriced. Prices are going up like twice a year. Not worth it. Swimming pool is completely messed up and no supervision. Sauna and steam room only works like 2 days a month and even if does then the temperature like outside. Lockers like in prison. Damp and mould everywhere. Stay away from this. There is hundreds of cheaper and much better places for working out.

Negative experience: I've been a member of the gym for many years and it has never felt as bad as now. I feel very disappointed. The quality keeps dropping. Ladies showers were supposed to be fixed in July 2023, they kept a note of it to keep us updated. Now no notes, no updates, showers still not fixed, men's showers that ladies use stinks, full of flying bugs everyone around, dirty. Air conditioning systems keeps failing all the time, imagine a spin class behind a closed door with no aircon... Some of the classes get overbooked, not enough equipment.. and on the top of that they keep increasing your membership prices, regardless of the signed contract. My price has gone up twice in a year - by approx £10pcm.

Negative experience: I had a lovely back massage and facial. The staff were lovely. What let it down was the lack of control in swimming pool with kids unsupervised. The jacuzzi was a tad cold. The food in the cafe wasn't great. Hard poached eggs on barely toasted bread. I would have taken it back but the member of staff was rushed off her feet as she was the only one there. Everything has potential but doesn't quite make it.

Negative experience: The gym is an absolute state. This is not the fault of the staff because from my interactions with them, they are lovely. It is purely the fault of the main gym manager. I think his name is Nick. He is a bloody disgrace. Turned down the pool temperature 5 degrees to save costs while increasing the price to use the facilities. Had to move gyms a while back and I have heard from my friends that go there, it is still the same problem. Horrendous.

Negative experience: Had spa treatments with Caroline this morning. I was very disappointed felt like I was an inconvenience everything was rushed. One off the worst back massages I've had. I feel bad for my daughter as treatments were a gift. But on the other hand my daughter had Sara and she was really good and informative!

Fantastic experience: I treated my friend for her birthday to a spa package. We went to the Bannatyne lakeside. It was really lovely, and she enjoyed it. We were able to use all facilities, including gym and classes (if we wished). The facilities were lovely and not busy. I would suggest to look at what classes they have, as they had water aerobic class, we were lucky enough to have had a chance to use the pool before hand. The spa treatment was amazing, relaxing.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrendous experience. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! As a member of the gym at bannatynes and having visited the spa a few times before, I have had a relatively good experience previously. However, I feel the services and facilities are rapidly going down hill and I am considering leaving the gym as well as advising many of my family members who are members to do so as well. I had booked in for a facial and massage online and received email confirmation for it to be 4:45 however when I received the check in email my appointment had been moved to 2:45 without being told. There had been a mistake so the day before my appointment, I went out of my way to go to the spa in person to sort the mistake. I spoke to a woman at reception who advised me they had the same problem that day and she said she would cancel my 2:45 appointment and she advised me it was sorted. I had taken the day off work to go to the spa with my mum. We had a nice experience in the sauna and steam until I was told that I had still been booked in the earlier appointment (which I had never booked in the first place) and there was no way for me to have my appointment. In addition to this, upon being told this, the manager Nikki who was called over, was extremely unbothered by the whole event. She was not particularly apologetic and said she could not put a request through for a refund and this would likely be next week and even then this may not be guaranteed. Quite frankly, I feel I have been conned out of £47, I have not received any sincere customer service and I will advise everyone I know to not book in for any treatments as they may end up on losing money. For a problem which wasn’t my fault, you think the manager would be trying to make the effort to apologise sincerely to the customer and make them feel as though they would like to return to the spa. I won’t ever be returning to the spa and if I do not get my refund I will also be cancelling my gym membership too. There have been many things I have tried to ignore, many times the pool has been shut due to glass in the pool, changing rooms that are sub standard, the wide variety of classes being narrowed down or replaced by virtual classes without an instructor and now horrendous customer service. Please think twice about spending over £50 a month when joining this gym as it is rapidly going down hill and management do not seem to care about what their loyal customers think.

Negative experience: Unfortunately tied into a 12 month membership unable to exit, no matter how bad my experience. So joined the gym for relaxation purposes only as I do enough cardio and moving weighted goods. Been there for now 6-7 months the last two had hardly any use out of it...due to closed spa and sauna due to renovation works stating on notices to get excited for a brand new sauna and steam room lost 2-3 weeks there as these are the facilities I pay for. Not swimming, not the gym, and not tennis. Big problem with hygiene in the place its hard not to notice black grime in the showers, black unidentifiable small worms 100s of them. The teams hover in groups you always see 2 or 3 together walking around joking about rather than keeping a good standard of hygiene. It's a shame to say but council owned swimming pools are cleaner than this and we pay good money. Not only does it earn money off its members but its classrooms, car wash rental and nursery aswell as spa and merchandise. So keeping the place to a good standard is not hard. I used to work for the health and safety department in Dagenham, which I was one of the lead advisers in goresbrook leisure centres close down due to health and safety issues but lets not forget bannatynes stopped the sunbeds due to health and safety issues for covid purposes?, but yet the place can't be kept clean. Going in a place like this you should feel fresh when coming out instead feel grimey needing another shower when I get home. Men's changing rooms were swapped round which was meant to last 9 days has not lasted for nearly 2 months. I'm sorry but this place has become a joke. I would like to further not they stop letting children in swimming at 6pm on Sundays which is fine I don't do swimming but was advised he can go tennis or squash. I said well sauna and steam is not swimming they said no without reason. Especially now with the summer holidays??? What is the actual reason for kids not allowed in and I'm not talking about children I'm talking about teenager 14 years old? I'm sorry but the site needs investigating and changes need to be made. I have already started collating evidence.

Negative experience: Poor experience. Would not suggest! Booked treatments at spa and used pool. Asked to fill questionnaires before visiting which weren't used by staff to personalise treatments. Left to sit in a waiting area with no update on what was happening and had to chase after start time had passed. Poorly applied treatments by staff who felt like they were making it up on the spot and started joking midway through our treatments. Even though we had a day pass to all facilities, we just wanted to leave by the time we'd got out of the pool. Extremely disappointing.

Negative experience: Damp bedding on the massage beds, a 15 min scrub massage instead of 30 mins, a 22 min oil massage instead of 40 mins, I’ve been left with lower back pain after as it was so rushed and unprofessional. The General Manager at the reception was horrendously rude, the whole experience was very unpleasant and left us feeling extremely disappointed. Will not be returning

Negative experience: Booked a massage and scrub for my daughters 18th birthday… the worst customer service we have EVER experienced. DO NOT COME HERE. The lady’s hands were so crusty I thought that the oil massage was the scrub. The room was freezing cold and to top it off the 1hr session was so rushed the lady finished everything in 40 minutes. We were both cheated of at least 10 minutes of our 1hr session. But I’m glad it was over quicker because what was supposed to be relaxing was actually making me feel sick. I mention customer service because even though we booked weeks in advance, when we turned up we were told a half of our appointments had to be canceled because of a shortage of staff. We have been told to book the other half of the treatments another day… even though we booked the treatments specifically for my daughters birthday. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Negative experience: Men’s showers still not fixed, have swapped the women’s and men’s showers. Men’s toilets which the women now have to use stink of urine Pool area dirty and not unkept enough for the price they are charging For over £70 per person a month for membership you would think they would keep the place clean. Air con leaking in men’s changing room for over two weeks now !!

Negative experience: Bad Service I booked a spa treatment as a birthday gift for my wife, but your staff ruined it by canceling her appointment without reason then denying service again later after making her fight to reschedule. The whole experience caused immense frustration and stress, completely tarnishing what should have been a thoughtful gift. My wife has lost all trust in your spa due to the unacceptable customer service. I expect a full refund given the emotional distress your actions caused and hope management will prevent this disgraceful treatment of clients happening again. Please promptly respond regarding the requested refund OR rebook her another appointment and I may re-edit my feedback.

Fantastic experience: Spa staff lovely, especially Sydney, who obviously loves her job and is very conscientious. I had a very nice treatment (bought from buy a gift, for myself and my daughter.) Left feeling very relaxed. Shame cafe wasn't still open at 4pm as would have liked to finished day off with a coffee and cake!

Negative experience: Air conditioning is hot stuffy & damp. Changing rooms rotten & dank smelling. Terrible layout, seven mile walkway from changing rooms to pool is freezing in the winter. Door is left open to outside to outside jacuzzi makes it freezing. Pointed out yesterday there was fox excrement walked in from outside, in the walkway to swimming pool, thought this would've prompted them to prioritize that area immediately but apparently not. Quite facist with no aromatherapy fragrances allowed in steam room, glass in pool etc...

Fantastic experience: I was with Pure Gym but found it very crowded in the gym. Decided to join Bannatyne, and I'm glad I did. 100% better, Well worth paying the extra. Gym has up to date equipment. Very clean, staff are friendly.

Fantastic experience: Had a couple massage as part of a spa day and it was so relaxing. We were really happy with the facilities there and if anything isn’t available they are very generous with offers of alternatives. Will happily go back again for another spa treatment.

Negative experience: Sorry to say this place is well below par. Not a great experience for a day spar, well its 10:30am and we are leaving. The place is dirty and run down. Mens shower block in changing rooms stink of urine. Jacuzzi cold and dirty...... I could go on. I really hope management take note and address this. Message to Duncan, please invest in your own business.

Fantastic experience: I’m not sure what all the bad reviews are about. We went for the spa day experience today and really loved it. The facial, back massage and scalp rub were lovely and so were all of the staff. Would definitely recommend!

Negative experience: Paid for my wife to have 3 treatments for Mother’s Day. The place is massively run down and dilapidated, She didn’t get the treatment’s she asked for, the food she ordered was undercooked and overpriced and when I raised the issue to the manager Nick his emails basically implied it wasn’t their fault and they try their best, no good will gesture no come back and we’ll make up for it. Never again, spend your money elsewhere.

Negative experience: The membership manager didn’t seem bothered in getting new members. We had to ask to see different places instead of being shown around and being sold an experience. Facilities look alright, but nothing special does not have the same feel of a David Lloyds for similar prices. Also children are an afterthought with no classes and having to pay £15 per month per child for them to come swimming with an adult. Will look elsewhere. Don’t mind paying for quality and good service. The latter seems lacking at this gym.

Positive experience: Myself and my friend attended the spa and had 2 treatments each which were absolutely amazing but seemed too be over quicker than the given allotted time. The spa girls explained everything and were very professional. The spa itself is very basic and busy. We didn’t hire the robes. Even though it was busy we were still able to use the Jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms and the pool although the pool had an aerobics class on when we arrived. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to use the hot tub outside as it was only big enough for 4 people. The same 4 people were in it the whole time we were there, despite people sitting around it waiting for their turn.. This seemed a little unfair as it was a beautiful day and I would have loved to have a sit in it! The gym was well equipped and not too busy. The cafe had a small selection of food and drinks although we didn’t dine there.

Negative experience: If you're thinking of booking a spa day here, DONT. I had the worst back massage and facial I've ever experienced. It was very rushed and half arsed. Was not relaxing in the slightest. I'm not even sure if she was qualified because it was that awful. She also kept huffing during it. I complained to the manager and nothing was done about it. Next I had lunch, overpriced, poor quality and bland. I had the ham and cheese toastie. It didn't even include a side salad on the plate. Also the toast was burnt. The spa area - swimming pool and hot tubs etc, was kept untidy. Empty plastic bottles on the floor and an overflowing bin. There isn't many lounge chairs to relax on so if in use then you have to either sit in the hot tub for the rest of your stay or pool. I honestly would not recommend this place. I wouldn't come back even if it was free. There are many other incredible spas around to book. This place is more of a gym than spa. Complete waste of money.

Negative experience: I had an ok experience, but theres always room for improvements. I always go for massage due to stress and back pains and i have been looking and experiencing other options of massage areas around and compare prices against service. I dont mind paying much but I always judge it for the skills of therapist and the result. *massage experience wasnt top quality, as i have to tell therapist where to press. *inside is does not look/smell/feel clean *no more walk-ins/day use *teams waiting around massage areas were a bit too noisy

Negative experience: Such a bad place. I had booked a pedicure and instead they were booking me only for file and polish. They rebooked me, i went there three times and each time they booked the wrong treatment. Amanda the manager made so many mistakes from her side, she didnt even know how to book the right treatment. I would not recommend this place to anyone that respects themselves.

Fantastic experience: I went to chafford one hindred bsnnatyne, it has lovely facilities swiming pool, sauna, steam room, outside hot ub, balvony at the café a lovely range of foid at the café. The gym is realky nice. I went there for a full facial and a body massage, and reall enjoyed it. We were given bathrobes etc... The elemis products were great. The beds in the relaxation room were stone beds. It was lovely

Fantastic experience: The receptionist was sweet, we received warm welcome from her and I was seen on time by Katie, oh my gosh, she’s brilliant, professional, patient and soft spoken. Beginning and after care advice and discussion was straightforward and understandable. I’m happy with my treatment. The 5* is for Katie. On the other hand, my partner was treated badly by a rude lady that call herself the manager, first of all she needs to go back and do more training, on customer services and management, and shake off racism, this is England which is a diverse country. She’s very rude and comes across as racist through her vocal, body language and attitude. She call herself manager, she was shouting at my partner, his appointment was 11:30, at 11:45 he went to enquire when he’ll be seen and was given 5 minutes, 10 minutes gone and it’s still the same procrastination and he got annoyed and wanted to cancel hence the rude idiot that call herself manager, unfortunately her colleague won’t give her name. Shame really as our money pays her wages/salary
