Our Farnborough gym is ideally situated to serve Cove, West Heath, and Fleet. We’re in a fantastic sporting location, between Fleet Spurs Football Club and Southwood Golf Club. The 441 and 9 bus services stop close by, or alternatively we have ample parking available onsite.

Positive experience: I recently joined and Im satisfied with the gym, swimming pool, and sauna – they’re clean, well-maintained, and everything seems to be working as it should. However, the showers and changing rooms are in need of serious attention. There’s mould on the ceiling, cracked tiles, dust in the vents, rusty pipes, and the showerheads are not properly fixed. Additionally, the soap dispensers aren’t secured properly. These might seem like small issues, but collectively, they make a big difference to the overall experience. I’ve used several Nuffield facilities before, and they’ve always been premium health clubs. Unfortunately, this particular location doesn’t meet the usual standard. Addressing these concerns wouldn’t require a huge investment but would significantly improve the experience and likely attract more members in the long run. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration.

Negative experience: Similar to what others have said, they have a strong smell of mould and patches of mould in the changing rooms and steam room. Given that it's £67/month for membership, cancelled after the first month as it's just run down. Would be happy to use it again if they give it a proper clean and refurb, which is just sad as years ago it was a really nice place to come. Hope the management see this and do something about it as they're losing business, that could easily be avoided. (The staff are friendly but deserve a better facility to run!).

Negative experience: Nice gym and convenient for me, but scored lowly as it needs investment in facilities : the air-conditioning barely works so I avoid on a hot day, pool seems frequently closed for repairs, some parts of the changing rooms are a bit mouldy, you still have to access the turnstiles using a card (rather than an app). Friendly staff, doing a good job in the absence of investment in the club from what I can only suspect is a poorly managed or cash strapped head office.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t speak more highly about this gym! It’s been amazing during my maternity leave and I can’t believe all it has on offer. A FREE crèche, FREE baby swimming lessons. At David Lloyd I had to pay for everything! The ladies in the crèche have been fantastic and a big shout out to Caroline, who is utterly brilliant. We’ve really looked forward to her swimming lessons each week. The gym itself is modern and well equipped. I just wish it was a bit closer and that Farnham offered the same! Thank you so much!

Negative experience: Aircon hasn’t been working for months, constant excuses, gym is so hot it’s unbearable. Spoke to the operations manager about it as I ended up sending a formal complaint in and he proceeded to explain to me that a ‘chiller unit is different to an aircon unit’ - don’t really care, just would prefer not to feel like I’m going to pass out every time I exercise, still hasn’t been fixed in the few months multiple members have been complaining. Then told me that when he came in that morning the gym was a good temperature, and that I should come in the morning instead. Gym is also filthy a lot of the time, running out of wipes to wipe down sweaty equipment and just dirty in a lot of communal areas. Overall- travelled around a lot, been a member of a lot of gyms, never even felt inclined to leave a bad review before because I just need simple equipment to work out and working AC, however this gym is just so bad I felt inclined to as don’t want anyone else to have the same experience. Pros- gym very empty at peak times compared to most other gyms, reception staff are really friendly, members respectful and friendly.

Negative experience: The women’s showers are filthy! the smell of damp & mould is overwhelming at times, the steam room smells like damp & the tiles are slippery & groce. A complete lack of cleanliness ! It needs a really good scrub & revamp ASAP

Negative experience: I think what this gym represents is brilliant, and I love that I see an older demographic being active and having a community when I go. This being said, the standard of the gym is completely unacceptable. Machines constantly being broken and never getting fixed, as an example there is 3 rowing machines, and only 1 has been working for months, and now that sole rowing machine is also now broken. The lines in the car park have faded and haven’t been repainted, so parking is very unclear and can be a struggle when the gym gets busy during peak hours with classes. Considering that this is a PREMIUM gym, it’s incredibly outdated; the potential is there but the respect for it’s members quite frankly is not.

Negative experience: Filthy changing rooms, mould in every shower. You can see this discolouration of the tiles leading to the pool compared to the less walked areas- showing just how dirty they have become. Place needs a good scrub. Emailed Nuffield (no response) and I know I’m not the only one.

Negative experience: Almost impossible to get onto classes. Their App doesn’t work and constantly told there is nothing they can do as it is being looked into. The cleanliness of the whole place is very poor . Studio floors are filthy . The receptionists are absolutely lovely as are all the instructors. It’s the staff that make the place as the building is dirty and very dated and classes so difficult to get booked due to IT issues not being addressed.

Negative experience: I was a member of this gym for 6 years when it was Virgin Active. I left a year after Nuffield took ownership being fed up of the lack of investment in the club. The only update it had received in the 6 years that I had been a member was hand-me-down equipment from The Rackets in Berkshire (both clubs still Virgin Active owned at that time). When Nuffield took over VA Farnborough, they simply painted it green. That was their mark and investment for the transfer of ownership! I went in on a guest pass this weekend thanks to my partner who is a member of Nuffield Chelmsford. It was a sad experience to see nothing has changed in a further 5-6 years since my last visit! Every single piece of equipment is still the same (The Rackets Virgin Active Techno Gym hand me downs). From free weight dumb bells to the machines. Hence why the seats and all equipment is red. Not a single penny has been spent updating or modernising the equipment. The ceiling is still two different shades of white after the roof suffered a leak about 7 years ago. A full white-ceiling repaint was too much work apparently so they opted to only paint the damage repair - leaving it looking rough, scruffy and two different shades of white around the entire edge of one side of the club. The pool is still the exact same as before from when Holmes Place owned it (before Virgin Active). No investment here either. The only thing slightly new in this gym are the changing rooms but again, Nuffield can’t take credit here. These were refurbished by Virgin Active towards the end of their ownership of the Farnborough club. And Nuffield haven’t even bothered to change the red mirrors to green in 5+ years ownership to at least uniform the aesthetics. Simply put: I couldn’t regret visiting the club this weekend anymore. I began my fitness journey at this club at the age of 17. I’m now 30 and it is the EXACT same minus green painted walls and 6 year old Virgin Active refurbed changing rooms. Nuffield haven’t invested ANYTHING into this space! The car park hasn’t even been relined and you can barely make out the lines today. The only thing that’s changed since Nuffield acquired the club is the cafe, now owned and operated by Costa + branded. It would have been Costa who paid for their branding to meet their own franchise guideline standards. This is a sad example of a gym. Tired, unloved and ignored for 10+ years! I can’t believe Nuffield are charging people £65+ a month to go here. It’s a disgrace. Visit another Nuffield in the country like the one in Chelmsford and it’s incomparable! How can two clubs under the same brand be vastly different? Such low brand guidelines and dedication to their members and customers. This club can’t be doing well for there to have been zero dedicated funds for such a long period of time and across two separate business ownerships! How long it has left can only be a few years at best. Very sad. Want to know how to attract new members? Make a gym that’s worth going to. Simple. If you don’t want to spend the money then don’t own a gym empire! Update: Partner tried Farnham Nuffield the other weekend while she was down here (she lives in Essex). She said it was just as bad!

Negative experience: I just joined Nuffield Health in Farnborough. Tried to do it online yesterday, but their website didn't accept my bank details for direct debit - none of them...tried a fair few. This morning tried again, still the same issue, so decided to go in and do it in person. First they kindly told me that there is an offer at the moment that no joining fee and the rest of the month is free. I thought how lucky me... Went to do my laps in the swimming pool when the manager comes to me that sorry it's just no joining fee, but I have to pay the rest of the month. I was in my workout so yes sure, do what you have to. When I come out she said it changed since yesterday... I tried to ask her for some Goodwill, but she wasn't taking my situation into consideration at all just bluntly refused to adhere to her own earlier offer. It's not my fault their website didn't work. It's not my fault that she is not aware of the current offers. I feel disappointed and mislead with my newly subscribed one year membership. At this point I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and careful with their offers they might change their mind by the time you finish your application.

Negative experience: POOR! The air-con doesn't seem to be working since last year. Come on Nuffield we pay for the memberships I'm sure you can pay for the electricity bills, turn the air-con on please. Sometimes it gets too hot to do exercise. We're thinking about cancelling our memberships actually, because of this issue, sorry.

Negative experience: Was good when I joined back in 2021 but went downhill fast along with most Nuffield Gyms. I have been a member of Nuffield in general from Feb 2016 till just this month when I cancelled due to being fed up. - Spa/jacuzzis turned off "for winter" but then gave about 2 days notice before they were due to be switched on saying this would be a permanent thing - Health MOTs gone and not replaced - Nuffield would previously provide free towels, now gone - Changing rooms are always dirty - Steam room regularly doesn't work - Out dated gym equipment - Some of the tv channels on the equipment don't even work - Was a power cut back in Autumn and took them around 6 weeks to repair all electrical equipment fully - Have just slowly been reducing the level of service whilst still charging a hefty price I would avoid this gym going forward personally. I cancelled my own membership this month after 2 years of loyal service as they quite clearly do not care about the customer and offer a substandard product versus the price... They wuite clearly take no note of the poor survey results every month

Positive experience: Last time I joined this gym was when it was still part of Virgin then became Nuffield. The equipment is becoming a bit tired, however you can't beat the staff friendliness of this place, they are always cheerful and happy to help, even the cleaning staff smiles and greets you when you see them. Most of the other gym guests are very friendly too, much prefer Nuffield than other less friendly gyms, only hope that they refresh some of the equipment.

Fantastic experience: I'm a new member and worked in many gyms myself over the years. I'm so pleased I joined for the last few months of my maternity. The crèche is ideal and staff are lovely, reception staff are friendly and welcoming and gym clean with loads of kit.

Positive experience: Overall a good gym - it has a chilled and welcoming atmosphere and we can always find a machine to go on, even during peak times. Only issues being that some of the machines are constantly out of use - for a small gym it can have an impact on your workout regime. And the air conditioning often feels non-existent. Staff are very friendly but seemed confused and unhelpful when we said it’s too hot in the gym. I think some reassurances that this could be looked at (especially with the hot weather) would make this gym more enjoyable to go to!

Negative experience: Dirty changing rooms with hair all over place and stale water puddles everywhere. rude reception, basically a dump. the pool is constantly closed for repairs and maintenance yet you still are expected to pay full membership price. AVOID THIS PLACE. SPEND LESS MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE. HORRIFIC.

Negative experience: UPDATE: More than a year of membership now. Down to 2 stars. Spa pool (jacuzzi) was closed at the end of 2022 and would never be back. Cleaning service still does not exist (mens changing rooms are still dirty). Hair conditioners have disappeared solely from mens showers and would never be back. Prices raise from May 2023. Customer service non-existent. OLD REVIEW: I’ve been a member for several weeks now and I think I’m ready to give my initial feedback. Good impressions overall with a few things to improve. Pros: - welcoming and helpful staff - well architected facilities: easy access to the pool and gym from changing rooms (first reason I went for Nuffield) - steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, shower cabins with proper taps - hair driers and swimsuit drier - warm pool and jacuzzi - shampoo and hair conditioner in shower cabins - drinking water - plenty of free parking Cons: - shower rooms are dirty already at 7:30am (feels like everyone take shower in socks!); I feel utterly disgusted walking back from showers barefoot to my locker; I stay in the gym till 9:30-ish and it’s never cleaned - spa pool is working only 5 minutes, then switches off for 5 minutes. I was told it’s something related to health and safely but a) I don’t see a point; b) are there ways to sort this legally, as it’s super annoying for the members (I had a word with people)?; c) sometimes it works longer than 5 minutes - aqua aerobics and zoomba occupy the whole pool at 9:00 and 9:30am every morning except Tuesday; is it possible to leave at least one lane open? - treadmills constantly show wrong time; some are permanently not starting, lagging, or rebooting Comments: - towels are still not available; I guess it’s down to COVID restrictions (yet) but I hope they won’t be forgotten about forever - worth putting a reminder for the members to think about other members and stop making mess in the changing rooms and showers (used paper towels in front of an empty trash bin; foot powder all around the floor; nasal mucus on the walls and floor in shower cabins; etc); although more frequent cleaning would help

Fantastic experience: The gym is well equipped, kept covid clean and the staff are very friendly. I am disabled, there is appropriate parking , and the staff will always find ways to help me if necessary. Good for a time out the house or if you are a serious athlete, and all points in between

Positive experience: I really do like going to this gym but they really need to work on their complaint handling. Whenever I go up to the desk to offer feedback, most of the time, I am treated as if my complaint doesn't matter even when I offered the same complaint, several weeks in a row!!! I also joined a couple of months ago and have heard from other members that their used to be sun loungers beside the pool. It would be great if these could come back especially for the sauna users to relax on between sauna sessions. It's also a pity that the café doesn't seem to be open at all. It would be nice to have a place to go and get a nice tea or coffee with maybe some healthy options for breakfast or lunch. Also they mention on their website, that they have on-site experts like physiotherapists but I never see any of these experts and it isn't even indicated anywhere where to find them? I guess you just have to ask for them at the reception desk? The changing rooms are very clean though and it does seem to be one of the few gyms that has a pool and a sauna and steam room. However, the service could be better especially considering the high cost of a membership here.

Negative experience: The gym is laid out lovely, lots of machines and staff are friendly. But: 1. The gym is filthy. I have complained several times over the last few weeks to the reception desk, even showing photos and videos. 2 weeks later, it still has not been cleaned. Not what you want to see especially in COVID times 2. I would show a staff member on the gym floor how filthy it is but there never is one. I waited an hour to show an employee member, but one never showed and eventually told reception on my way down. Very dangerous to have no staff on site, during busy times (sat afternoon) and people using heavy gym equipment.

Positive experience: Very well-equipped, not only with the gym equipment, but with other facilities too, like the change rooms, cafe, creche. I have only recently joined so have not been able to get a thorough experience of all services due to Covid restrictions. The classes are great and you can feel the difference in quality of classes compared to cheaper gyms. They created a very good offline work out from home series, that helped me stay active. One downside is the booking of classes, they get full so quickly that I hardly ever get my choice of class.

Negative experience: Very bad gym. Took them 3 months to fix a machine. Told the management team 20 times and was ignored. Half of the facilities don't work. Don't waste your money there.

Positive experience: I have been a member of this gym for several years. Originally Holmes Place then Virgin and now for the past couple of years or so Nuffield Health. Gym is well equipped and the staff are good BUT the cleanliness and maintenance of both equipment, building and other services on site have been and continue to be unacceptable. Over the past 12 months or so we have seen the pool, steam room, jacuzzi, air conditioning and sections of the gym out of action for long periods of time. Recently the heavy rain came through the roof creating more problems and shutting areas of the gym down. The men’s changing rooms are often unclean and both showers and ceiling have unacceptable black spots and mould. Despite constant requests and complaints there has been little or no improvement. I have family membership and have been offered no compensation at any stage for the disruption and inconvenience caused. Nuffield are unresponsive and seem happy to pass on the problem to local management who appear to have no authority, budget or ability to address the issues. I thought long and hard before posting this but something needs to be done. What a pity as this gym should and could be fantastic,

Fantastic experience: Very nice and clean leisure centre. it seems to have many different activities, swimming pool and classes. The coffee are is really nice with plenty of drinks and nibbles to choose from. I went to an excellent rumba class run by Giselle on Tuesday morning. She is very enthusiastic and energetic, and even the most boring person should move when she puts the music and start her moves. Loved it and would defiantly recommend it.

Negative experience: Was down on a course and thought I would pay for a weeks membership (£30). To be honest I would have thought in the interest of maybe gaining a member they may have made it complimentary......anyway not enough benches in weights area and not enough variety of machines. Looks dated and needs use of space upstairs used more sensibly. Not a premium place for the premium price they charge

Positive experience: Great gym, great facilities, not many meatheads there first thing in the morning which is good, only bad points are sometimes no lotion in the soap dispensers in the showers and the clock is wrong in reception.

Negative experience: There’s only one squat rack. Half the treadmill and cardio kit is broken. The wall mounted TVs in front of the cardio area are all fuzzy and on their way out. At any one time either the jacuzzi sauna or steam room will be broken. The hot water goes off. Aqua aerobics classes unnecessarily take over the entire pool so if you’re not doing the class you can’t use it, there’s not even a lane set up so other people can still use the pool. Classes at peak times take over the only space available in the gym area to do stretching or ab exercises and they use all the kettlebells and watt bikes / other gym kit, again so if you’re not in the class you can’t use half the facilities. I’m only not cancelling my membership because the other branch in Manchester I use is really good and it’s convenient. Can’t beleive some people pay what they do for this gym.

Positive experience: Facilities are interminant, regularly out of service for undefined times "waiting on parts" . Currently you'll be lucky to have a month with everything working and when it's not they'll direct you towards one of the other gyms in the network- if I wanted to go there I would have joined that branch! I have raised my dismay with management for a second time today (21/1) as the sauna and female steam are currently out of action and she assures me that it will improve. My daughter has swimming there and it's thanks to the swim staffs dedication and engagement that we have remained members.

Negative experience: Such a huge disappointment this club is, every time you go. Nothing works and is out of order for weeks and weeks on end. Phoned to ask about Jacuzzi and steam rooms, still not working after 4 weeks so requested to cancel, no issues. Now chasing for payment and the 'Manager' ignores emails. Would definitely not recommend this club, however, was a member of a different Nuffield and a completely different story so guess it was just unlucky to pick this hovel.

Positive experience: I do wonder why I continue to pay my fees. It is so poorly maintained. Turnstiles have been out order for weeks, spin dryers are intermittent as is the hair dryer and lighting the family changing area . The toilets take weeks to fix and booking classes is a nightmare. I am glad I meet my friends there!!!

Negative experience: Not worth the money unless you're making full use of the classes. If you want to use the open floor space on a Saturday morning - you can't. Pool is *heavily* chlorinated and to top it all off they demand that you pay an extra month's subscription upon cancellation. Avoid.

Positive experience: Nuffield Health Farnborough is always very clean. The facilities are up to date and there is a good range of classes. It is lovely that children are allowed to attend but I am sad that I am unable to swim between 4:30 and 5:30pm as this is the only time I have free when finishing work before picking my daughter up..

Positive experience: The gym is of good quality. Lots of floor space to do your work out. Nice amount of equipment to make up a cross fit routine. Some slam balls need to be replaced as sand seems to be escaping and getting everywhere when using them. The pool has family time so pick your timings wisely to go as if you don't have a child with you they won't allow you to swim ! The jucuzzi is poor and on a 5 min timer in between each time you can push the button. The jets in the jucuzzi are weak and hardly makes the water bubble. The female changing room not best I have seen for hygiene in a Nuffield. The floors are a lot of the time always wet and the showers have a lot of hair every where.

Positive experience: Its a good gym but its a bit small considering what they charge plus they seem to think its ok taking over half the gym for classes they also reduce the classes schedule over xmas due to lack of demand suprisingly though its the same monthly membership fee for Dec so those that still use the classes in Dec pay the same but suffer reduced facilities.

Negative experience: Decided to try it out as I'm a member of Guildford and their Zumba class is at a convenient time. Was three minutes late to the class and got shouted at to leave... Not friendly at all and the class looked overbooked anyway. They surely know about the traffic problems in the area because of the recent roadworks and could give some leeway? Not a good first impression, Guildford instructors are much friendlier.

Negative experience: Gym far better when it was virgin! Prices going up this November but they still can’t manage to maintain things - entry turnstyles not been been working for sometime. Surely with everyone’s extra money they could fix them. Cleaning staff are a credit to the gym and the one positive thing. They should replace the front of house staff with the cleaning staff who are far more welcoming and friendly. Will be out of contract soon thankfully and leaving this gym by the new year as it’s become shoddy and mis-managed.

Positive experience: Matt's need replacing or cleaning in studio. Soundproofing between studio's required as you can hear the heavy beat from other studio. Would be good to have a more mainstream yoga on mondays. On the plus side it's convenient and some good classes.

Fantastic experience: Been coming here for a year and it's a great place for a work out. Never feel intimidated as you could in other gyms. Clean, friendly, and a good place to grab a coffee after a session too. The sauna, steam room, hot tub, and pool are a great addition as well.

Positive experience: Ótima academia porém poderia ser melhor, não funciona 24h mas acredito que não tenha necessidade pois a cidade tem uma rotina mais diurna, os funcionários são bem educados, um ponto negativo na minha opinião é a higiene do banheiro masculino que poderia ser melhor, os equipamentos são bons e dispõem de boa manutenção e são diversificados, seria melhor pra mim se ficasse aberta até meia noite pois as vezes não tenho tempo durante o dia, mas é uma academia que eu recomendo porém acho o valor da mensalidade bem mais alto que o nomal.

Negative experience: The actual gym is great, but the place appears to be mis-managed. A lot of 'stuff' just doesn't work, such as hand dryers, complementary iPad type devices in the cafe plus other... There is kitchen rubbish on the decking and all round the cafe is awful. The food is terrible and the staff have clearly never prepared a meal before. My over all impression is that that no one cares! In summary, brilliant gym, but if you want to spend a little bit more time there, maybe with the kids and have a light bite, look elsewhere. Get in 'n' get out...
