Positive experience: the gym here is great for anyone looking to get started, its not very big and the community is really friendly

Fantastic experience: We go for regular swim lessons. Wonderful and supportive staff. One can also book swim birthday parties as well! Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Very poorly ran and managed

Positive experience: Gym is very small and the equipment is lacking. Closed early on weekends. Wouldn't recommend if you're serious about weight training.

Negative experience: When I visited (for the first time in 10 years), the staff were super lovely and facilities great. My problem arose with the parking fine I got a couple of weeks later!!! I rock up for the first time in 10 years, park where I always used to, its raining and it's dark. Didnt see any signs about cameras (doesnt mean they werent there, but didnt see them, wasnt expecting to see them, it was dark and I was in a hurry). Certainly didnt see anything about where and how to pay and display. Parking fine arrives. I email the leisure centre to ask what the parking situation is, and can they please cancel the fine. They dont respond. I phone them. The call centre is UK-wide. They tell me to email (ahem) or call in. I'm not calling in because ..... I dont want another parking ticket? Or to pay for parking. And there is no info about how to pay for parking on thier website. So. Maybe I need to use my eyes for more than avoiding bumping into things, and I get it that in some places parking is super intense, car parks have to charge, and that has to be policed. Just dont do ANPR £100!!! £60 if I pay in 28 days?!! If you're going to sting like that you have to make it easier for people to at least have a conversation about the charge. I was going to come back for defs, but now, I just feel like I want to avoid Truro leisure centre.

Negative experience: If you want your data breached, your health and safety compromised and to be harassed in the car park by the manager for complaining about cleanliness then this the ideal place for you. The changing rooms, toilets and studios are filthy and showers regularly don't work. The water in the pool is freezing and there is a poor offering of classes compared to other Better facilities in Cornwall. GLL Better claims its purpose is to improve the physical, mental and social wellbeing of local communities but in fact it does the opposite and creates health issues through their complacency and poor service. They also claim to be Autism friendly with no sign of any reasonable adjustments apparent at this centre

Negative experience: Travelled 45 mins to get here for open family swim as says on website. On arrival told only lane swimming. Sunday 12 midday.

Fantastic experience: Great pool, super staff

Negative experience: I'd advise against anyone considering taking their young child here, unless perhaps wearing a wetsuit to keep them warm. Took my under 4yo to the learner pool, expecting warmth, but it was apparently 26.8 degrees. Shared with reception our appalling experience that they still have the cheek to charge whilst my son and another toddler were shivering cold in the water getting blue lips. The receptionist sniggered, which triggering my realisation to request a refund before we left. The refund is the only reason the rating is not 1.

Positive experience: It's the only option in Truro

Positive experience: Only go here for swimming lessons for my child and it's OK. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare as there are so few spaces. The changing rooms can be a bit of a mess sometimes and the toilets are often a mess also.

Positive experience: The staff are great, swimming lessons are great. The changing rooms are very poorly lit verging on dark and they STINK. I have never experienced such smell changing area before. Please please sort out the smell, we would visit so much more if it smelled normal

Positive experience: Only popped in in the hope of a soak in a warm pool and a shower after a run. Shallow baby pool was really cold so only stayed in for 5 minutes. Showers were hot though and hairdryers free so at least we left clean and respectable to go out for lunch

Negative experience: First off the good: The pool is good, the lanes are laid out well and its clean and seems to be well maintained. The bad: There are issues with the showers, sometimes they don't work at all, which is pretty unacceptable after you've been swimming. There is also some mould in the showers and changing rooms, doesn't appear they're cleaned very well. The gym is very small, the machines are old and worn out and it's very cardio focused. There are some weights but they're very small and theres no bench press, squat rack or any of the basic equipment for doing weights.

Negative experience: Still trying to sort out car park fine since last year. Not impressed

Negative experience: Drastically gone downhill since the take over of 'Better', which I can assure it is not. Staff are now unfortunately more concerned with chatting amongst themselves than teaching. There doesn't seem to be any or much value in the customers now. They say they struggle to get people to join up classes yet pay little attention to those who do turn up. Very sadly I'll be going elsewhere now. Always loved Truro pool but it's just not very welcoming anymore. The booking system is utterly ridiculous. Website couldn't be more unfriendly. When asking staff members to assist with the online aspect, they didn't know what they were doing either. Such a shame.

Fantastic experience: My daughter learns to swim here and it's been great, little tricky to find the parking, clean, friendly and relaxed.

Positive experience: Friendly staff and good facilities. Just be careful when parking, even if you have proof of visit they will not cancel parking penalty if you forget to put registration number in.

Negative experience: Rip off merchants Daughter accidentally booked a pair of tickets and her friend also did, they refused to refund the duplicate set. Disgusting. Especially when it’s appallingly overpriced to start with! Lifeguards are absolutely lovely though.

Positive experience: Lovely facilities and very clean. Only problem was their baby pool was quite cold and so were the changing rooms so I felt it wasn't really baby suitable as our little boy got cold quite quickly.

Negative experience: 1 star mainly for the fact I made a complaint that needed dealing with and solving, that was nearly 2 weeks ago now and still no response other than a note back to say received. The received email said I should have an official reply within 3 days. Nothing received! . So I emailed again via the contact form on the website a few days after the 3 days, no response. I then emailed again 3-4 days after that time, still No response! . I would have been happy to keep my complaint to myself really but the way they neglect to bother replying is just ridiculous, soon as the bank holiday is over I will be attempting to contact them by phone. Unfortunately it’s difficult to contact them by any form other than a form via the website! The online chat is useless and I have tried the Facebook page not that long ago so we will see if I get any response. This has really put me off going to any of there branches ever again as it seems complaints aren’t taken seriously and are just ignored. My complaint also meant I asked for my money back as a way to help resolve the issue as I signed up for a monthly direct debit for swimming lessons which I won’t be taking due to the nature of my complaint so maybe that’s why they are neglecting to Reply. If they’d replied and tried to sort the issue with me id be happy to attend there centres again but just not for swimming lessons.

Negative experience: Utterly hopeless. Good pool but an awful, unreliable booking system. Impossible to contact the centre by phone or email and the app does not work. When this company goes bust it will be entirely their own fault. The customers are there but the level of competence is not.

Positive experience: Went to the gym, most of the equipment has seen better days, none of the exercise bikes and elliptical machines run smoothly (I tried all of them). The parking is pretty abundant and the changing rooms and showers are in good condition.

Negative experience: The place never opens on time especially during holidays (on 24th & today 31st) morning we arrived here by 7.00 am and waited till 8.00 am the gates were closed. Without any prior notice these center closes and opens according to there own management wishes. Atleast they could have send a common message to all there customers informing the changes in timing or they could have placed a sticker at the reception area that on those days the timings may differ from usual days. Even at Spar shops they use to place a notice at the main entrance mentioning if there's any changes on the timings. And today waiting here since for 1 hour we found 5-6 other customers returned back without doing there routine workouts and they all were disappointed. Is this the way such an organisation should do to there customers. Because of me I have made 4 of my others friends to join here. Due to such type of behaviour and mis-communicatuon we are all cancelling our membership. As compared to Any Time fitness there are no more equipments and for swimming classes we have to pay an extra even taking a full package of membership. And also the management keeps there own timings on those holidays where we get time away from our duty. So I won't be recommending none to join this center as it's entirely waste of money. I haven't seen such an organisation in my life.

Fantastic experience: Excellent swimming pool: water not too warm, clean, very good changing facilities and friendly staff. Slightly awkward to find. You leave the main road at a roundabout, with signpost to leisure centre, then no more signs. You have to go down the hill to another roundabout and turn sharply to the left, then go through the college car park.

Positive experience: Great leisure centre overall. Recently refurbished gym and changing rooms. Gym is compact, and doesn't have the latest, multi adjustable equipment, but it's rarely busy and the staff are great. Membership is good value and gives access to gym, swim and exercise classes, as well as other partner gyms in Cornwall

Positive experience: Went for a swim. Facilities great, clean, good privacy & there were clearly family size changing "cubicles". The showers would allow you to take your kids in as well. However, despite my saying I hadn't been before, the staff at the entrance (despite being otherwise friendly and helpful) didn't bother to tell me that the pool would be closing for a school. Don't mind that happening, but it would have been useful to know how long I had to use the pool! Might have chosen to come back at a different time...
