Negative experience: The sauna stinks and today there was no water in the showers. There was no warning or no signs anywhere. I also had classes with no AC. Staff is very nice though, unfortunately nothing they can do as management is just very bad.

Negative experience: Mixed experience at Virgin Active Bank. The front desk staff are generally professional and helpful, which is a definite plus. However, there are ongoing maintenance issues that make it hard to fully recommend this gym. The biggest frustrations: 1) The shower gel dispensers are constantly empty. For a gym where people come to workout and need to head straight to work/meetings afterward, this is really inconvenient. Having to always pack your own shower supplies defeats the purpose of having these amenities. 2) Their punching bag has been "waiting for a part" for over 3 months now. This kind of delay is unacceptable, especially since it's a key piece of equipment for boxing and martial arts training. Either fix it or replace it - 3 months of excuses isn't good enough. Is the part made of gold and crafted by Rolex!!!

Negative experience: Very dissapointed by the limited number of classes available, primarily Pilates. There are only a few cycle classes - 2 on a Tuesday and 1 on a Wednesday? None after work either. For the cost of the membership here, I’d expect more

Negative experience: No place where to train in this gym... Lifting weights is basically impossible. Very very disappointed

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my visit to the Bank branch. A young lady named Danielle at reception greeted me with a lovely smile and was very accommodating and patient. We need more people like this!
Fantastic experience: I’ve visited a few branches of Virgin Active and the one in Bank is definitely my favourite one and that’s partly because of the lovely receptionist Danielle. She is genuinely kind, always helpful and fast when I need something. Very professional, sweet and friendly.

Negative experience: Regrettably, after 15 years as a Virgin Active customer, I had to leave today and terminate my membership. It’s not the regular locker break-ins and thefts from the changing rooms that have forced me away; sadly, it’s the lack of gym etiquette by the PT staff and management, pushing long-term paying members out of spaces and off equipment at short notice to accommodate classes. Every gym I’ve ever known has operated on a first-come-first-served basis for all their open spaces, assisted machines and free-weights. This was not the case today and I was moved off the gym floor in favour of those taking part in a circuit session. Had I been in a studio, I could have understood, but I wasn’t and this type of treatment is unacceptable. The star is for the cleaning team who work tirelessly to keep the gym clean, but sadly this is not a place I would recommend people go to work out.

Fantastic experience: The gym floor is hugh with a lot of equipments and very spacious so it smells fresh all the time. The changing room is also very big. The sauna room is bigger than the one in Canary Wharf. All in all, very happy with it

Negative experience: I had registered to sign up with the price of £75 per month using Vitality. My company took a few weeks to get me my Vitality number, when returning I was told the membership had increased to £90. Natalie was dismissive and rude when I asked if they would honour the price I was previously quoted.

Positive experience: Nice gym, clean, friendly personnel with a decent amount of training equipment. However, bear in mind, this is a basement level gym, with no natural light. The swimming pool is rather small I’d say and a bit shallow… Love the Pilates classes though, which need booking well in advance, otherwise you don’t get a chance! Given the price, I’d expect a bit more than what’s it’s currently providing.

Negative experience: Went today as guest pass considering getting my own membership. Pool very small, jacuzzi apparently out of service for 1 month Lady behind desk at the bank branch who told us she is manager with pink hair has the most appalling communication skills. Very cold, passive aggressive and unneccesarily rude acting like we are causing an inconvenience by using the services which we paid lots of money for. Very very awkward, never experienced anything like this in my life. You have put me off any membership with your gym! Keep up the good work
Positive experience: I went yesterday pretty much for the very first time in the past 10 years or so. The gym floor feels very cramped and is set up in a weird way. We were only 6 or 7 of us on a Monday evening at 7pm, which is amazing compared to what it used to be but, the gym is showing some serious signs of maintenance needs in the swimming pool/sauna area. I came in and the towels were left in a mess. Reception was good but, I would definitely not go as a first choice + it is closing at 9pm in the evening where other gyms are already closing at 10pm.

Negative experience: I'm a member here but choose to walk down to the Broadgate branch as this gym is a scam and there's enough evidence to have it exposed on Rouge Traders. Members of this Gym have been miss-sold as no way should it be charging Collective Tier prices! Incompetent Management, broken equipment that doesn't get fixed, lack of space/equipment which means you will be waiting at peak times before you can use a machine and a very high number of unfit looking PTs ( mostly just creeping around the gym floor). Beware of any 5 star reviews on this site at it's clearly been written by a member of staff
Fantastic experience: Virgin Active Bank is one of the best gyms in the city. I had a slight problem with my membership and the Member Services Manager, Sanna was absolutely incredible and solved the problem right away. This is unfortunately my last month at the club as I have moved jobs but if ever I move back to the city this is the club I would join. Thank you Sanna and the Value Team at Bank for a great year!
Negative experience: The only reason I go to this gym is because the location is convenient otherwise it is not worth the money. George Jemmett is one of the membership managers and I have experienced some of the worst customer service with him - I called him to discuss an issue regarding classes and he suspended my membership.

Positive experience: The gym is not bad but I can see from previous reviews that there have been issues with the steam room. I am afraid it is happening again. My old Strand Virgin branch had the same issue, pretty much all the time. I have no idea what is up with Virgin gyms and broken steam room. Used Nuffield Gym near Southwark bridge for three years and steam/sauna did not break down once. Get your act together. It is ridiculous.

Negative experience: Possibly the Worst Virgin Collective Club A Coffee Machine and a guy that irons members shirts in the morning! That's the only reason why I can see this being classed as a "Collective Club"! Been a member of VA for over 6 years (made Bank my home Gym last year)and have visited most VA city Gyms so my below points are based on my personal experience and is not a reflection of the other VA Clubs in the city: 1) This club's smaller that all other Collections and only has 1 main floor. At busy times does not have enough equipment to cater for everyone, especially when you have Personal Trainers, who have seen a Cross-Fit video on you tube and are getting their clients to hoard 3-4 machines,in a vain attempt to replicate it. 2) Equipment breaks which is normal. What's not normal is the amount of time it takes to get it repaired. It takes weeks! mainly because their is no formal way to report broken equipment and telling a member of staff does nothing. It took them 4 months (and over 20 emails!) to fix an issue with a rower I reported. 3) Large number of PTs (Personal Trainers), mainly just milling around touting for business. This can be annoying when you're pressed for time and get cornered by one. 4) Late 2018 the club was being renovated and was unusable due to the dust, half of it being closed-off and the other-half packed with people. This went on for a month. When I and other member asked if there will be any form of compensation we were advised to use another Gym until the work was complete, which shows the level of care they have toward's their members. 5) The recent renovation (2018) seems to be more beneficial to PTs and not its members. One bank of treadmills have been removed since the renovation and replaced with Curved Treadmills which are not meant for people who want to bang out a quick 5k in their lunch hour, the Multi Gym Station seems to have gone and but they're are now two AirBikes and a few other new pieces of Cross-Fitish machines. You maybe asking yourself why I bother with this Gym and the answer is because it's 30 seconds from my office

Fantastic experience: I have trained at various Virgin Actives in London (Mayfair, Wallbrook, London Wall) and I prefer Bank for sure. The gym is really spacious, the layout works really well and the free weights area is always tidy. The changing rooms are not as glam as Wallbrook but I don't see that as much of an issue. My only recommendation is could you please get a deadlift trap bar?

Fantastic experience: My girlfriend works for Virgin Active in Australia & I have a buddy membership. We had no trouble getting in & the lady at the front desk (I think her name was Laura or similar) was super helpful. We trained here again a few days later & she ensured that everything was in place so we could just come straight in with no issues. Facility itself is very good; weights area is small but well equipped. Lots of functional bits like vipers, TRXs & bands.

Negative experience: Yet another diapopinting customer service experience as a menber: I called in advance to Bank VA and confirmed that my membership at Moorgate allowed me access. I show up at Bank to find out that I had been misinformed. No effort to correct the error, in fact the FOH staff was very snobby quoting how much I pay per month for my membership in front of other patrons and telling me how much I would have to pay for the upgrade. What is going on here? You provide a service for a fee. You exist because of your clients. We have no obligation to your club. You should be ashamed.

Positive experience: It's a very pricey gym with nice cardio equipment and changing rooms with Milton Brown products but the weights area is very small and poorly stocked.

Fantastic experience: I loved this gym and all the staff. Prince and Ernest are two great employees very helpful, knowledgable, and friendly, who took the time to explain the club and equipment . The spinning room is world class with a big screen for group competition a must for spinning enthusiasts.

Positive experience: Nice gym with friendly staff and good workout equipment (could do with a bigger weights area though). Let down a bit by the steam room having issues or being broken a few times over the few years I've been a member. What prompted me to write this review is that it's not working again at the moment, and been broken for at least a week and a half,. The staff (although very polite and understanding) don't really know when it's going to be fixed and it doesn't seem like a priority. For an expensive club i'd expect issues like these to be resolved overnight, if not after a couple of days. Saying all that it's a good gym otherwise.

Positive experience: It might be smaller than other gyms (Broadgate) but it's also less busy I find, so it ends up being a good option. Audience is very different from other gyms - more bankers and less muscle so very relaxed and chilled.

Positive experience: Decent gym and for an gym which is underground (as most of the gyms in the city are), the main cardio area is quite spacious. However there isn't near enough functional training space which is really my only bug-bear for this gym. Otherwise, it is well staffed and cleaners are always around...cleaning!
