Yarnfield Park Training & Conference Centre

Positive experience: I stayed here from the 27th-29th December 2024 for a spiritual retreat organised by sacred serenity. The staff were friendly and quick to respond to any queries every time. The restaurant buffet service was excellent with a selection of menu options on offer every day. Breakfast lunch and dinner. Al the food was very well cooked and delicious. The rooms were nice and cozy however somethings were not cleaned properly, my rooms bin was not emptied from the previous stay. A few of my friends had the same complaint about unclean cups in their room. If hope housekeeping can amend this it would be great. The hotel provide large size 2 in 1 body wash/shampoo and a hand wash, unlike other places which provide the mini versions which are useless. Overall it was a lovely pleasant stay. ❤️

Fantastic experience: Stayed for a training course. Accommodation was good, just take a hairdryer as there isn't one there. Food is great, I am gluten free lots of choices and information on allergies.

Negative experience: Rooms are clean, but basic and functional only. Food in the canteen (it's not a proper restaurant) is basic, limited choice and is not served hot. I stayed Mon to Fri for a training course, most meals were bland and luke warm at best. Only 1 meal (chicken & leek pie, mash, carrots & gravy) was hot enough.

Negative experience: I would go here next month with 3 other students for a course at the Yarnfield training centre. They booked 2 rooms with a total of 4 beds. I booked the trip a little later. They wanted to add me to the room for an extra fee, but this wasn't possible. They can change the booking, but they can't add an extra student. I now have to book a new room just for me, while one of the students also has a room entirely for themselves. Great way to earn extra money, not such a great way to help your customers...

Positive experience: Attended an overnight conference here - first visit. Excellent issue of room cards. Rooms were very comfortable. The meals were excellent, with a good choice. There are conference rooms of pretty much every size, with all the necessary equipment. Staff were all efficient and helpful. I would definitely recommend this centre or sister centres for a conference. I especially like that they provide for faith events.

Negative experience: Nice venue spoilt by very poor service.

Fantastic experience: An excellent venue with a restaurant, bar, Costa outlet plenty of course and training facilities, comfortable rooms, large car park and friendly efficient staff. Stayed two days one night and was really impressed.

Positive experience: Very spacious venue with comfortable rooms and excellent food. There is plenty of parking as well. Helpful staff at reception.

Negative experience: Stayed here for a week on a business trip. Absolutely horrible rooms that are in dire need of re furbishment. Staff seem uninterested and fail to cater for basic needs. Food is just cheap rubbish that makes your stomach upset for weeks after. Only reason for a 2 star is that the conference rooms are decent.

Positive experience: Spent a few days here and it was an average experience. The centre made a small effort to cater to people of ethnic minorities and that’s appreciated. The accommodation was slightly dated and lacks soundproofing. Suggest more retailed snack options available onsite and a bit more diverse staff to reflect the changing demographics of the country.

Fantastic experience: A Great facility, fantastic meals, really pleasant hardworking staff. Pleasant rooms.

Negative experience: I slept in The bed and woke up with bed bug bites I’m suffering as of rn I’m scratching my body so much and I’m in pain it’s all over my body

Negative experience: Very poor customer service, particularly with your food service. Very restrictive, mean portions and unfriendly. No opportunity for alternative. For the amount of money we have paid I was frankly disappointed. I will nit be recommending this to anyone.

Positive experience: Attended Yarnfield for a Chaplaincy conference. I was impressed with the venue, its amazing food, the friendly and helpful staff, and the conformable accommodation. Why only 4 stars, they need air conditioning in the meeting rooms, when the temperature was at 27 outside, it was unpleasant to be in the main rooms even with windows and doors open for a breeze. Fix that and it's 5 star all the way.

Fantastic experience: I attended the ADI conference. I thought the venue was a great place, well organised professional friendly staff good food and overnight accommodation.

Positive experience: Lovely setting, friendly staff and clean tidy rooms. Breakfast was closed down very quickly and promptly. Definitely think breakfast should stay open an hour longer to allow time to finish, especially after travelling 5hrs the day before.

Positive experience: Nice to be in a quiet, rural location. my room was fairly small but clean and well equipped. Only frustration was breakfast shut down v firmly at 8.30 as lots of people were either still arriving (late!) or trying to get food. So food was cleared away in front of us, toasters turned off etc which felt unnecessary and not very customer centric.

Positive experience: Venue was good for the needs of the conference it seemed. Food options were really good and the food itself was great quality even though it was canteen style. Food service staff were nice and professional along with the bar staff. Some of the reception staff were a little abrupt but nothing major The rooms feel a bit dated, beds are crazy creaky and the extractor fan in the bathroom was so loud I didn't want to turn the bathroom light on overnight. Otherwise room was clean and tidy

Fantastic experience: This was the second time we used the venue for a 3 day conference. Food is great. There is plenty of space. The breakout rooms are just right. We will be back next year!

Fantastic experience: Good facility. Came here for a conference. The room was big, we had tea and coffee facilities outside in a central location. Lunch was well organised with a lot of choices.

Positive experience: For a conference centre, the service is really slow. The staff are friendly but there's not enough. Especially in the bar. It's in a quiet area, with a large car park, which is good. Plenty of food at mealtimes, also great. The coffee is awful though... But you can buy Costa on site. The rooms are ok but double beds small for two. You also can't turn off the bathroom fan, which is annoying at night.

Fantastic experience: Rooms are very nice and clean, conference hall is kept beautiful . Food and service was excellent, especially staffs are in the restaurant helpful and they well organized for our conference.

Positive experience: We were there for a church conference, The meeting room was a good size but staff had not prepared it when we arrived so we had to wait around whilst they sorted it. The bedrooms are ok, but the carpets are not clean. 1 of our friends found a pair of men's socks inside the bed which was supposed to be made up fresh. The carpets were wet in some of the rooms. There was no variety of food for people with intolerance to gluten and Lactose and no Toilets in the main facilities were smelly and not cleaned regularly .We made the most of our stay there , we had a blessed weekend.

Negative experience: Sadly, the bed sheets and pillow cases had various stains on, the bathroom/toilet was so mouldy, and much of the facility in general seemed extremely run down and long overdue a refresh. Second year there now and it was sadly worse than last time.

Fantastic experience: Great place for training or conference or even wedding or events alike as they have different sized rooms for such and the best part is they have rooms on site..l love it my experience the last 2days has been great..their food is lovely and the staff are friendly.. would go again

Positive experience: Stayed here in June and had a fantastic time for our 2023 Men's retreat. The venue was excellent for what we needed with a variety of food options and designated refreshment hubs in around the venue. Overall a very great experience!

Fantastic experience: I recently visited Yarnfield Park for a day meeting. The food was amazing, everyone was really friendly and there was plenty of parking available. Facilities were very clean even with how busy the centre was. I also got to explore the new Connex building which offers private meeting and training spaces. Will definitely be back for local meetings.

Fantastic experience: Yarnfield Park is an excellent conference centre. The rooms are comfy, the staff helpful and the food is good with plenty of choice.

Positive experience: Rooms ok, but unbearably hot in summer. No airflow or fans.

Positive experience: The canteen options and service are pretty decent. The venue itself for Conferences and training is definitely a good option (albeit they could regulate who they book in, especially if people are so loud it disturbs and actually hinders other events). My only issue is the service and the fact that the rooms have no way of regulating temperature. The hotel aspect should be closed during summer months in ky opinion. Even affordable/ low-budget accommodations have AC or small desk fans. They don't even offer that, so if you are looking for a good night sleep please really think about this because even if you shower or sleep with minimal clothing, it is unbearable.... My room also had massive stains on the wall, which looked like big spiders or bugs killed. Made me feel a bit uncomfortable tbh. It was also said by colleagues that windows are hard to open and people don't want to walk to reception at night to find out how to work the awkward locks on the windows. The location is ok. The route is scenic, and many takeaways and service stations within a 10-minute drive. The only delivery to this centre is Dominoes.

Negative experience: Budget, low quality, sub-standard conference centre. Over-promised and under-delivered. This is a case where a venue has clearly spent their budget on PR and marketing when it would be better spent on improving the quality of their facilities. Whilst they do not profess to be a hotel, they do claim to be a conference centre with many excellent features: e.g. offer a 50% plant based menu (fine if you are happy to eat an onion sandwich and soup as the only option!) and their photos of the bedrooms are shown in the best possible, highly filtered and edited light imaginable. Our stay was littered with cigarette stubs on every surface, our team members were asked by the bar staff to collect glasses, air conditioning does not exist on this site but neither does an electric fan. Bedrooms- many had issues such as: no hair dryers, only one towel for a double room with two adults, malfunctioning showers, dirty bed linen which had strong odour of having been previously slept in… the list goes on. Saving grace- the drinks are cheap so you can make the most of a bad job by getting blotto and pretending to relive your youth back in grotty uni digs. However if you are wanting to hold a good/ high quality corporate event which positively represents your company or team, this is not the place.

Fantastic experience: Annie, young lady who has been working on the bar during this very busy evening. No name badges so I had to ask. She has dealt with rude and nasty customers over the last few days and be very professional in her position. I’ve seen her serving collecting ice, cleaning collecting glasses. She has been running around her whole shift and not once have I seen her take a break. A model employee you should be very proud to have her on your team. Always smiling!!!

Fantastic experience: We had another wonderful stay at Yarnfield Training. Staff were very welcoming, the rooms were comfortable and the whole building was well maintained and very clean. Meals were great and we look forward to being here for a training course next time!

Positive experience: Been to a few conferences . Food is surpassingly very decent. Staff are all friendly. Special mention for Annie who just started. She was so warm friendly. She was exceptional.

Negative experience: I stayed here at the same time as the abhorrent ‘society for the protection of unborn children’s YOUTH conference. Because of GDPR the venue did not let anyone else at the location know to expect this and thus we were bombarded with anti-abortion placards, and their people taking photos in the public area with no thought to who else would be in the photos. The management seemingly have no thoughts for the myriad people negatively impacted by this group, from paying guests, to their own staff, who probably had very little choice but to work this event. It took a number of active complaints about noise (them walking through the dining area with a megaphone announcing their conference for example) before we were taken seriously. I will not subject my own annual conference to this venue and their willingness to let an extremist group who encourage violence against women and girls (and anyone else who might get pregnant) and thus will take my business elsewhere in future.

Positive experience: I have stayed a couple of times for work at Yarnfield. Staff have always been really friendly. On the last visit we met Mark, working on the bar. He was incredibly friendly, had us all laughing and was super attentive. Amazing customer service from Mark.

Fantastic experience: My time at yarnfield was worthwhile, the staff and organization of the venue was warm and welcoming, nice buffet meals and a lovely cozy room, I will definitely visit again when needed

Positive experience: Nice little conference centre/hotel. Stayed for two days at a conference. Rooms are comfortable and clean, beds are comfy. The conference centre itself is somewhat drab, especially the bar which is actually somewhat depressing, but that’s the be expected for the price. The gym is small but does a job. The canteen was supplying food in abundance and at a good quality, there goes my New Year’s resolution! The staff are super friendly and helpful, made the whole experience. Would definitely recommend if you need a conference centre.

Fantastic experience: Always provided a great conference experience. I have attended 4 conferences here and it's always been great. The service from the staff is brill. The location is good and easy to get to with plenty of free parking on site. The venue is large and spacious so allows for multiple sessions on simultaneously. The food and drink provided is always good too.

Negative experience: Rooms were not great headboard and wall appeared to have some liquid juice marks carpets were so filthy and chair had a lot of different hairs not good. Toilet had some rust am sure that’s not ok at all couldn’t sleep at all

Negative experience: The rooms although recently painted are bland and dated there's even a rotary phone in there not to mention no Aircon connection to the WiFi is a joke and you will be lucky if you can get Netflix to work or any streaming services I have yet to be successful. The staff go along way to making this place barrable as there all friendly and happy to help Looking at the price they charge I am unsure as to how they justify the price per night

Negative experience: Welcome to Stalag Yarnfield. If you love the look and feel of an open prison then this is the place for you. Rooms small, dated and no air con. Tele the size of an ipad. Food...meh. The gym needs ro be 3 times the size for the amount of people trying to use it. On the plus side, WiFi good and no issues with hot water.

Positive experience: Here for a meeting with Huws Gray Buildbase, excellent facilities, friendly staff. We were well fed & watered.

Negative experience: I was down for a weeks stay at Yarnfield. In general the room was clean but it's very outdated. You have a kettle (some work faster than others) and a tv with a variety of channels but no fridge. If you have warm water for a shower, it's usually in the evenings because there's no chance in the morning. Heat in the room is great but BEWARE... the beds are made of rocks and are tiny. I'm 5"7 and I struggled so bare that in mind. Plenty of power points for your electronics so that's not an issue. If you're a light sleeper I'd suggest bringing ear plugs, you can hear a lot in the rooms. The food was the best part hand's down. There were plenty of options veggie, vegan and meat eater alike although be warned, if you ask for seconds you won't get them (older guy with blonde hair, beard and a shirt will state "it's not a buffet") a suggestion would be maybe to state that somewhere rather than talking to your customers like dirt? Food rations are tight it seems. Still, the food gets the majority of stars here. There is a gym and a bar which is open until 10pm. The bar has various screens/projectors for sports with 2 pool tables a ping pong table and a darts board. Unfortunately while I was down, the lads at the bar had no idea how to work the remote so we were stuck on bt sport 1 for 2 nights (which meant missing champions league football) until another customer solved the issue. A regular pint costs £4.50 and a cider will cost a bit less. If needed there's a small shop 10mins walk away where you can pick up tinnies or things you might of forgotten. Be prepared for a big mix of people here, it won't be quiet but that's part and parcel of a conference centre.

Positive experience: Beautiful countryside.. but farm smell could be a bit over powering for those who have sensitive nose. Room was a bit cold at night. Facilities are clean, food was good and staff so helpful and nice.

Positive experience: Not a bad establishment, stayed here for a second time as it's a training centre for OpenReach. Clean rooms, good food and nice quiet location.

Positive experience: Excellent training weekend. Food was good. The company was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed the social aspect. Accommodation was clean, but rather bland.

Fantastic experience: It’s great here, very impressed with the food, eating vegan, you can be left with terrible options which some chef class as acceptable. It’s a sign of a good chef if they can make a good vegan meal. Or that’s show I judge chef’s, if you can’t make simple ingredients taste good, you can’t be a very good chef.

Positive experience: Room as expected for business use- clean, compact, double bed, tv, hairdryer, kettle, desk and phone. Unfortunately I had faulty shower and toilet- I was only there one night so they did not have time to rectify problem before I checked out. Gym available but I didnt see. Costa on site and I like the 'handswipe' idea so staff get message to attend the desk and serve you. Bar was busy with only 1 staff serving but large area with big screen, ping pong table and pool table. GREAT FOOD- if scoring food only 10/10!!! Full cooked breakfast options plus pastries, cereal and fruit. 3-4 meal selections for lunch and dinner plus salad bar and dessert table (so yummy). Juice and hot drinks too. Chef arranged ingredients list to cater for my allergies. I chose jacket potato, Steak+chips, cheese+crackers, syrup waffle, roasted veg and nachos with lemon tart, millionaire shortbread, cinnamon doughnut, cupcake and layerd choc cake. Mmm!

Fantastic experience: Nice stay, friendly staff, decent gym, bathtub and shower. Towels hair dryer soap shampoo provided. Food ain’t as bad as everyone says.

Fantastic experience: Julie the bar manager has the best customer service I have ever seen. She’s funny and is always up for a laugh. Always ensuring customers are served with a great smile. David and Megan are also amazing and serve all customers issues immediately. I had a great time.

Positive experience: Mostly ok. Rooms are ok,internet is free and very fast and is fine for streaming. Food is good and good choices. They only thing that lets it down is one of the servers at the restaurant is very rude. He has no customer service skills and is probably in the wrong job. Other then that it’s absolutely fine.

Positive experience: Nice conference centre and hotel. Basic but very adequate accommodation for its purpose. Nice resturant for breakfast and for evening meals. Secure car park out the back of the conference centre.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly and kind staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Lots of choice of food every meal. We did an in-person and Zoom conference and their wifi and tech support was outstanding. Incredibly grateful.

Positive experience: Great conference centre, ideal for team get together, good location with lots of parking, everything was set out for social distancing, drinks included, biscuits and writing pad also provided. There were facilities for PowerPoint presentations, white boards and flip charts. Have heard the cafe serves great food, unfortunately not open when we were there.

Negative experience: Some really poor quality food served and for my first visit I was allocated a very old decorated room dating back 20 year's (helping to deliver limited sleep), the food did improve across the week however I'm not desperate to return! And yes covid has impacted their ability to deliver but could do better!

Positive experience: Some of the blocks are in need of some renovation, heating was not working very well in my room and the walls are so thin you can hear your neighbour using the facilities!! Other than that, food is spot on and staff couldn't have been nicer!

Fantastic experience: Great place to take a training course. Stayed for a week in accommodation which was clean and had all the bells and whistles needed for a comfortable stay. Food from the galley was always lively and filling even if I put couldn't eat three times a day. Staff lovely and pleasant not to mention the lovely pints I hoofed into myself after a day of study. Would recommend as a training supplier needing to accommodate learners.

Fantastic experience: The reception staff are friendly, rooms are a bit dated bit clean. The food was varied day to day so there was always something fresh and new. The bar is reasonably priced, around 3.15 a pint. The only point I would make is the apple juice in the food hall, it looks and tastes like it's been watered down. Other than that I had a great stay and would 100% recommend staying here for any conferences etc.

Fantastic experience: Came here for a conference and the facilities are great, it's great that all the buildings are in the same place and great grassy areas for playing football and frisbee.

Positive experience: Less than helpful staff who treated me like an imposition. Otherwise clean and tidy. A little outdated in places but plenty of tea and coffee throughout course.

Positive experience: Clean, tidy, food ok. The place is like a modern day military establishment absolutely no atmosphere nothing other than functional for purpose.

Negative experience: Good for attending training or conferences, unusual place to stay otherwise. Rooms are clean and functional and similar to well known city break hotels, but they are spread out into accomodation type blocks. Reminded me of my Army barracks! When management were challenged over accommodation and restaurants (self service) they insisted that they were a training and conference facility and not a hotel. However they openly advertise rooms for rent on the internet. Unless you are staying here for a training course or a conference I would not recommend it.

Positive experience: Nice venue, some rooms are better than others. As a conference space, nice rooms very accomodating for everyone and also for break out sessions into smaller groups. They seemed to turn off the drinks machines earlier and earlier at points. The staff were nice but occasionally got a bit frustrated with some of the guests at lunch (possibly warranted at points). This meant there were times when they were unnecessarily harsh, e.g. sending me away upstairs just to get water - and when the machine upstairs is turned off. Overall it was a nice venue, very spacious, and a nice basketball / football cage just across the road as well as a nice big of greenery which makes recreational activities very possible. Would definitely revisit.

Positive experience: Nice hotel in a quiet area. Very clean. Good breakfast. Plenty of restaurants in nearby Stone if you want to wonder out instead of eating at the hotel. The only down side is the hotel comprises of four out buildings so you have to walk outside to the main building. It's not far and is all covered incase of rain.

Positive experience: Really enjoyed my weekend for way ahead, all I will say is sort it out. I hate quing ,and every single time I went to the bar it was ridiculous. Room was nice, the shower/bath was great. Has a hair dryer for if you wet your head by accident. Also have a hair dryer for when you mean to wet your hair, so everyone's a winner! The deserts are fantastic, I'll narrow it down to the Rocky road. Only 1 issue of the whole weekend a lady staff member was quite short an slightly rude. Well that's the impression that I got, but had a great weekend. Loads of face's I only actually get to see once a year, look forward to it. Last time I was slightly steaming, it was all the long island ice teas. Hence why I chose this year to not drink, was properly dehydrated like! Plus callum wasn't there to make them, but genuinely if he was there I probably still wouldn't have drank like as I made the decision before I came.

Fantastic experience: Good place for a conference. The bar and restaurant were good, and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were adequate and comfortable, the desk in the rooms were very useful to have.

Positive experience: Lots of parking spaces, good buffet style cafeteria, breakfast had hot and cold foods and a good range of granola and fruit juices, really friendly staff who were understanding that I had night work and didn't want house keeping. Room was clean and the shower was good, but had echoy hallways and felt a bit like student accommodation. Nice surrounding areas to go running in. Location is a bit out of the way, having to drive round an estate to get there.

Fantastic experience: The Connex building really adds a fresh dimension to a well established setting. Our conference was well equipped by staff and when there was a small technical hitch, the team threw their full weight behind getting it fixed

Negative experience: Only come here if you have absolutely no other option. Their food is a nightmare! Rooms old and stinky. The people were lovely though, hence the two stars.

Positive experience: This place is extremely welcoming, and easy to find. The rooms were clean and a good size with ample storage. The restaurant has a wide selection of food, catering for all types of dietary requirements. Thanks to Tom at the bar and the rest of the team I really enjoyed my stay.

Positive experience: I was in a recently decorated bedroom which was nice. Food was nice but conferencing centre was way too hot.

Fantastic experience: A brilliant place to do a training course. Food is very good (breakfast is well worth the visit on its own) Note is there's nothing near so your stuck there for the duration but I the up side accomodation is very good comfy beds very similar to staying at a premier Inn but you don't have to put up with drunks walking past your door late at night
