Negative experience: I went to this gym over two years, some of the staff are nice especially Nick but the overall vibe of the gym isn’t great. There’s a lot of we don’t tolerate this and that but clearly no enforcement, from people spending 45 minutes to an hour on one machine, cutting there toenails onto the floor in changing rooms, big ego guys that never use deodorant screaming there nut off throwing weights on the ground, tripod weirdos thinking they are fitness influencers getting annoyed at normal people getting in their shot when they are just working out minding their own business and it’s way too over subscribed, plenty of non paying people following members through the gates most likely because they always have times when there is literally no staff. This is everything people dislike about gyms into one place. I’m so happy I moved near another gym and don’t have to go here anymore.

We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols, including the introduction of cleaning stations, to help keep our members and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the reduced risk and in line with the Government’s ending of legal restrictions, we have decided to remove self-cleaning stations in our gyms, which will also support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste. We’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment. Positive experience: I am going here after work like 23.30 pm , so I need take shower at here I choosed here because the big shower place but something made me angry I like the gym and equipments but I complained about the water degree almost one week ago but nothing changed in that time I just one could take warm shower other days the water was under 36.5 degree and last time today it was cold again and again
Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. Our showers are now set at a temperature of 36C and have a flow rate of 5 litres per minute. These parameters are regularly monitored and we also have regular checks carried out on boilers and associated equipment to ensure the units are operating as they should be across all of our gyms. On occasion, we can get faults on our water system which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate, and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner. If you believe there may be an issue, please speak to a member of the gym team who will be able to assist further. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Negative experience: I have been using the gym for over 10 months, as my home gym on a PLUS membership, allowing guest access 4 times a month. Up until this point I had been very happy, and happily participated in classes conducted by Clive, Nick, Alex and Tayo who have all been very kind, patient and professional. Following my recent experience in a class (which is sadly in line with this employees behaviour outside of class also), I will no longer bring any guest in as it's a pure embarrassment to do so. I am sad having to report that the male assistant manager consistently behaves in a rude, condescending and patronising manner. Yesterday (22nd of October) he behaved like a bully in class, trying to make me feel like an idiot, for being confused about a last minute class change. This was witnessed by my 18yo daughter who was my guest, who was shocked by the behaviour. She is a member of the Kent Athletics Club, and a gymnast who was trained by many fitness professionals over the years. She has never witnessed such level of unprofessionalism from any coach or a PT, and she has had many of them from age 5. She has been effectively put off, and frankly, me also. Alongside this membership, I have another Yoga membership, and attend others as a buddy, and have never witnessed such an abhorrent attitude anywhere over my 16 month fitness journey. May I write here, that as paying members, we are here to be motivated on our fitness journey, not bullied! We need a positive atmosphere in classes, not an atmosphere of hostility. While we have to adhere to certain rules of conduct as members, the managers are certainly expected to adhere to them also, and a high level of maturity, empathy, professionalism is certainly to be expected. Unfortunately I haven't experienced this here, consistently. Not even what I would classify as 'basic manners'. While I have already voiced my concerns to the General Manager, Clara, after the class, I feel like it's important to highlight this issue here, as judging by the comments (both on and offline), it's not an isolated incident.

Negative experience: They openly allow "influencers" to smoke in their gym

As per our Gym Rules: Smoking, including e- cigarettes are strictly prohibited in all areas of the gym. Any member found to be breach of this rule may have their membership terminated. Fantastic experience: I've been working with Rahmel (Mr Vegan Muscle) for the past 3 months as an online client, and the experience has been fantastic! From the very beginning, he tailored a program that suited my fitness goals and lifestyle. His approach is both motivating and professional, always pushing me to achieve more while keeping things enjoyable. Even though it's been remote, the communication and support have been top-notch. Fantastic experience: Sharing a 5 star review for PT Rahmel aka Mr Vegan Muscle. I trained with Rahmel for just under a year and really appreciated his calm and supportive approach. An antidote to the shouty and over enthusiastic support I’ve had from other PTs in the past! I really enjoyed the weight training we did together, seeing improvement in my body and lifting heavier weights each week. When I had to make some drastic changes to my workouts due to heath issues, Rahmel was supportive and adjusted our workouts accordingly. Definitely reach out if you’re after a PT. He tends to offer more morning sessions so good for early birds too!

Negative experience: I strongly advise anyone reading this not to join this gym. It was one of the worst experiences I've had. I will not be renewing my membership because of how rude one of the managers was. When I accidentally placed a dumbbell on the wrong rack, he scolded me, saying, "I am the manager, go put the dumbbell on the correct rack." I complied, but when I tried to explain to him I am new here and did not know, he cut me off and said, "Next time, don't do that; put the dumbbell back in its place" in the rudest manner possible. This happened during Ramadan when I was fasting, so I didn't have the energy to address his behavior. No personal trainer should speak to someone like that.

Positive experience: I've been going to this gym for the past 8months. It's a small space and the staff are friendly. The machines are perfect for beginners and there's a nice range of barbells and dumbbells. The classes are pretty good especially Rahmel's spin class, it's the best one !

Positive experience: Great space it’s very big in size. Not enough or no cleaning stations whatsoever. All the machines have sweat marks after use! Please put cleaning stations in around the gym. The traffic in the gym is very high .. with that said if it’s not clean often regular gym goers will become unwell due to the spread of germs

Fantastic experience: I’ve been doing a spin class here since November. Rahmel who takes the class is very good and changes the music and content of the class regularly which I like. It’s always busy which tells its own story. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to try a spinning class and improve their general fitness.

Positive experience: Decent gym with equipment for everyone's liking. Staff are generally kind and helpful. Although biggest issues here are: - The time it takes for them to repair machines - There's only 1 of each machine so you have to wait for others to finish - Huge lack of spray and tissues around the gym to disinfect equipment. Sometimes I have to walk around the whole gym to find some, if there's any. - Also, at times there's a puddle outside the disabled toilets

Fantastic experience: It has all the necessary equipment. A weight lifting area, cardio area, warm up and warm down area and even an area dedicated to classes. They run classes for dance spin classes and more.

Fantastic experience: Rahmel is definitely a gym coach and PT that I would recommend to anyone who is looking to begin their fitness journey. He helped me to understand the steps I needed to take to achieve my personal fitness goals, as well as provided me with constant support and guidance from day 1 to ensure I stayed on track to meet them. His communication was clear and he explained everything in a way that was understandable for someone who was just starting their journey. Training with him has allowed me to develop a confidence in my form, ability and myself whenever I enter a gym. I would definitely advise using him, for anyone who believes they are inexperienced in the gym or even those who are just looking to enhance their physique or gym capabilities.

Fantastic experience: The gym is very spacious and has a lot of equipment. Rahmel is the truth! A great PT. I’ve been going to the gym for a little while now following my own devices and I was doing okay. Rahmel provided the guidance I never knew I needed. He’s helped me to correct my form, motivates me to push myself and go the extra mile without overworking me and keeps me consistent through his online coaching platform. Days I can’t make it to the gym, he provides home workouts for me to follow. Rahmel is friendly, motivating and very knowledgeable. He provides an impeccable service overall.

Negative experience: Got to sort the cleanliness out in this place, particularly in the early hours of the day. You’re either a 24 hour gym at a decent level of service, or you’re not a 24 gym at all.

Positive experience: The gym is spacious, just enough equipments for all my workouts. However, the facility lacks sanitizers and cleaning materials for the equipments. Who wants to use a bench full of sweat and dirt from previous user? I just hope the management and staff would consider buying those stuff as it leaves an unpleasant impression to both existing/new users.

Negative experience: To be honest Usually i don’t Write Review, but this one is necessary. What a filthy and dirty gym ever!! I am 38 years old, all my life have been in gym and seen various gyms in different countries but never have seen such a dirty gym, people shaving their beard in the sink, showers are disgusting, everywhere is dusting specially machines are covered by dust and bacteria, machines are not enough for so many people. In my opinion it could be 12 £ per month. So i will continue to do my workout in this gym because have no choice right now it’s close to my house.

Positive experience: Good gym. Female showers are cold and equipment takes awhile to be fixed.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Fantastic experience: I've had some PT sessions with Rahmel to get in shape for my wedding/ honeymoon. The results are fantastic, I feel both physically and mentally stronger! Rahmel's approach is friendly even while he is pushing your limits. He not only supports during the hour sessions but also advises on diet and provides useful advice catered to your needs. 100% recommend him to anyone looking for some sessions. I can't wait to get back into it when I return.

Positive experience: Great gym. Unfortunately it's become full of people filming in there with no rules or guidelines for people choosing to do so making it an awkward environment for a lot of gym goers that don't want to be accidentally plastered over social media.

Positive experience: It's good value BUT (!) hardly any anti-bacterial fluid to clean machines, no TV monitors so repetitive training can get boring (they have monitors in other gyms), & hardly a smile to be seen amongst staff. All could be rectified at a very low cost!

Fantastic experience: Oh My goodness, this gym is heaven on earth!!! Staffs(Temi and the rest)are soo professional. I have never in my life seen a gym which got free lessons everyday of the week..WOOOOOW.... It feels like having a personal trainer free of charge.. No judging even though I'm obese.... Negative experience: Too stuffy an environment. There seem to be no kettle bells below 8kg for restorative exercises. The bands they had when they first opened seem to have disappeared. They've now reduced cleaning tissue and spray so the grime is building up. As I was leaving yesterday two young boys came in through the gate under just the first boys membership.

We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols to help keep our members and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, however, with the reduced risk and in line with the Government’s ending of legal restrictions, we have decided to remove self-cleaning stations in our gyms, which will also support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste. We’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment. Fantastic experience: I attend the gym at least 3 times a week. The classes are fun and varied and the instructors are very friendly. I highly recommend Pure Gym Catford.

Positive experience: The gym itself is 5 Star. However, I am giving a 4 star for the following reasons: The entrance door was broken and a few young people were able to get in during the early morning hours. They should put a better and more secure front entrance door. Sometimes people have been inconsiderate by not wearing their headphones but playing whatever they are listening to extremely loud so not just they can hear but so can others especially in the early mornings before staff are in. People also use the Emergency button on the treadmills instead of the regular stop button. Perhaps signs and more education about when to use the Emergency buttons would help. Finally, maybe signs about not slamming down equipment would also help. Very glad we have this facility and would like yo keep it for a long time and a place where people are considerate and is safe.

Positive experience: Great new gym venue for catford. All the gym machinery is new and the layout spacious. Sometimes it can be hard to get hold of staff but all in all a good gym.

Negative experience: Gym not cleaned. Hooks missing on a lot of cables. Wipes everywhere on the floor. AC absolutely useless - it is way too hot.

Negative experience: Unfortunately the place is already going downhill from when it first opened. The air is stuffy as if they’re letting the ac machines clog up with dust like Bromley branch. And they seem to be phasing out blue roll to wipe mats and other things down, so the dirt is building up. The showers have no hot water and the sink taps take quite a while to warm up. Half the cable machines have their carabiner hooks missing so are unable to be used.

Fantastic experience: The changing rooms are very clean, with nice new showers and private changing cubicles. There’s lots of space, including a nice area for stretching and non-machine workouts. There’s a good range of equipment.

Negative experience: Gym is cheap and open 24 hours. However they definitely don't clean very often. Last 3 days there's been the same bit of rubbish in the treadmill cupholder. - UPDATE - Gym is no longer cheap. They put their price up from about £12 to £23

Fantastic experience: I mistakenly left my AirPods in the workout area. I returned the next day to try and find them. I told a staff member. He asked a few questions to help identify them, then went into the office. Returned a few minutes later with my AirPods in hand. Thank-you!!

Positive experience: Not all classes are included in your membership as stated considering you have to pay an extra £4 per class for yoga, pilates and zumba. This is a low price to pay. However if you wish to do all three classes in a week, that's an extra £12 a week on top of your membership. Multiply that by 4 and that's an extra £48!!

Positive experience: Modern equipment as expected for a newly opened gym. A generally friendly atmosphere. On the downside, the showers are filthy. They often covered in hair and do not look hygienically clean. More recently they have wreaked of stale urine!!

Fantastic experience: I frequently attend the following classes at PureGym Catford: Box fit, zumba, dance and tried pilates once. The classes are amazing, and the instructors are friendly, vibrant and passionate. The gym can be extremely busy in the evenings but quieter at weekends. I opted for classes because I prefer the atmosphere and vibes of group activities as opposed to working out on the equipment in the gym. Depending on personal preferences, there are plenty of options. The more popular classes are snapped up quite quickly, so vigilance and speed are essential to book cycling, dance, the 5:15pm box fit, pump, zumba and others. All good fun though, would recommend it.

Positive experience: Loving the new gym, all the equipment is new and looked after. The staff seem, well, a little aloof and unengaging. I've been going for over a month now, and only one member of staff has spoken to me, but that was after asking where certain equipment was. I'm a personal trainer myself and uour taught in the trade to make your clients and members feel welcome. In this, i do not think they are trying hard at all, which is a shame. As a new gym, I thought they would have the perfect playground in which to involve and inspire. I see most of the staff with sly headphones in their ears and a general lack of social engagement.

Negative experience: Very disappointed on my visit staff at reception seem to just stand around and talk to each other did not offer any assistance then the information they gave was completely wrong the instructor in class that I attended did not instruct how to do the various exercises correctly gave the impression did not want to be there will give them another chance if not I will Cancell my membership

Positive experience: The staff look friendly, the gym in itself is spacious, clean, new equipment, no signs of damage or breakage anywhere. The toilets are dirty. I don't think the toilets get cleaned at all. This is why I'm giving them 3, purely cos of the toilets.

Negative experience: The toilets are disgusting. Dead flies and bugs in the sink. Just foul I feel so sick when I go into the changing rooms, they need to employ more or BETTER cleaning staff. No one cleans the machines after use. Just gross really regretting the move to this gym

Fantastic experience: Great new addition to the high street. Plenty of cardio, weight and resistance training equipment. They have a spin area and host classes at various times of the week. The space is well utilised although not huge in square footage.

Negative experience: Please I just want to know when the gym opening up, I've already paid for my membership months ago but still know closer to knowing when its going to open up, and its been months now. I joint to get in shape for my wedding coming up.

Negative experience: I've been passing the site where this gym is supposed to be, and it looks like no work is being done. They've put a Pure Gym sign up, but nothing else. I'm beginning to get the feeling that this gym will not be opened until the year 2023, at the very earliest. One star, for lack of communication and lack of updates to the public, as well as lack of progress on the construction work. Fix this, please.
