Positive experience: A very good gymnasium, not cramped unless busy. The hand dryers in the gents changing room don't work. The staff are helpful if you ask for something but otherwise keep themselves to themselves. Studio for classes is too small (long & thin).

Fantastic experience: Recently joined the centre and use both gym and swimming pool. Having a good experience so far... Swimming pool is never packed, so I can enjoy an un interrupted swim and the gym is plenty big enough... Liking the Music during the Lane Swims, thankyou Cray, hopefully this will be a regular feature as I'm sure I swam faster listening to the 80's music

Fantastic experience: Great place, good range of classes but get booked up quickly. Gym well equipped and up to date. Excellent 25m pool with clean spacious changing area. Plenty of parking

Negative experience: The swimming lessons are good and my son is making great progress, however the temperature of the large pool is just too cold. My other child is physically distressed shaking and upset. It is a negative swimming experience for him. The temperature of the pool has been an issue since January, and there have been many complaints, but it doesn't seem to be improving.

Negative experience: We recently went swimming at the Halstead Leisure centre sadly the disabled toilet where dirty and the other toilets were also very dirty There where lot's of staff around mostly on Laptop they need to spend more time cleaning the centre Shame it could be nice

Negative experience: Gym is not so bad, they always leave the disabled entrance open so anyone can just walk in. Some staff are rude, personal trainer in the gym is very arrogant, Unapproachable and doesn’t consider others when doing his sessions.

Fantastic experience: Very nice pool inside with many people using it, very helpful staff.

Fantastic experience: Very pleased with my visits so far, joined the centre end of December. Facilities are clean. Swimming pool is good and easy to book. Gym could be ever so slightly bigger but think it is just because it busy from January new starters. Think it would be ample when it calms down a bit.

Fantastic experience: We only visited due to my son's football game on a Saturday afternoon Large carpark with plenty of spaces. Good facilities available and no issues with the site. The football / caged pitch was very well maintained and decent quality

Fantastic experience: My boyfriend attends the gym most days, getting back to fitness after operations on his hands. he is really thankful to the PT there (John) who has helped him rehabilitate his hands and assist in his training.. all the staff, facilities and other members are great .. definitely recommend ⭐️

Negative experience: So I’ve had a very unpleasant experience on this Astro turf: Me and some of my friends walked by to have a look at the Astro turf pitch to consider hiring it for a couple of hours. Upon arriving there were a few guys inside who invited us in to play with them. We were inside for about 5 minutes before even kicking a ball and a staff member / coach started yelling at us to ‘f**k off’ as we hadn’t paid. I tried to explain that they invited us in to play and we weren’t trying to cause trouble, however this answer wasn’t accepted and was just sworn at and told to leave. If the man had just kindly asked us to leave as we hadn’t paid we would’ve accepted that and there wouldn’t have been an issue. However because he was so rude we will certainly not be returning to hire this pitch out. Totally unacceptable / unjustified.

Positive experience: Great facilities for everyone. The price to book the football pitch is very extortionate. If I wanted to book on my own for an hour, just one person, it was around 30/40 pounds. Just for me for an hour. Only useful for teams not for small parties of boys/girls. Just go to the park and save yours or your families money

Positive experience: The adult pool and the kids pool were just a stone throw away from each other both pools were clean the adult pool had 2 swimming lanes. They offer swimming lessons for Kids and adults, but I'm giving it a 3 because the adult pool was not deeper than 5 feet hence I was not comfortable pulling off a proper dive, but in general it's a nice place to get a bit of recreational swimming and to also get back on the saddle if you haven't been swimming for a long time like me

Positive experience: Swimming lessons for kids are really good

Positive experience: Went for the 60 minute family swim on Sunday, everything seemed clean & tidy but there were very few people in the centre and only a handful in the pool. Water was just warm enough and our 2 grandchildren enjoyed it. One of the showers was broken but unlike Braintree there was no poster outlawing shampoo or soap which is a plus.

Negative experience: Swim teacher was rough with my child and pushed their head under the water during a lesson

Positive experience: Pool is a great size, and the temperature now appears to have been sorted. The lane swimming is a great idea in theory, but they do pack too many people in so it can get very busy and you feel like sardines swimming against everyone else. The showers are atrocious! Only advice I can give is to swim and then shower at home, otherwise you are left trying to catch odd dribbles of water to be able to wash your hair. Still a great sized pool to properly swim in, if only they could add some more proper showers it would be perfect!

Positive experience: Great local facility for all your sporting needs. The new 4G pitch is brilliant and was a worth while investment to help modernise this great facility.

Positive experience: I have enjoyed the swimming pool, overall the place was acceptable but far to be considered remarkable. All the facilities were working, reason to win a 4 stars in my decision. The staff was not much of a friendly kind but I became used to it in the Leisure Centres I previously visited. Funny or not looks like they work for a government institution, where no smile is required.

Negative experience: They make it increadibly difficult to cancel and won't accept cancellation over the phone and voicemails. I now have to pay £80 despite having the record I tried to cancel and had not use the facility since the date I told them.

Fantastic experience: I went to my first Aqua swim at Halstead pool, unsure of what to expect! Had a great time, swim instructor was great and accommodated everyone in the class.

Negative experience: Booked an hour swimming slot then asked to exit pool 10 minutes early by a miserable life guard . Center is nicely kept and reception staff friendly just a shame about the poolside staff and time keeping

Negative experience: I would avoid on line payments. Taken two payments for one lesson and so far refused to refunding payments. Get fobbed off from Gemma who stated refund will take up to 10 days. It now been 20 days since this extra payment was taken and no refund has been made. You can't even talk to them on the phone as nobody answers the phone and nobody can be bothered to reply. Update 25th Oct 2021. Further issues with Fusion, my wife's class was cancelled the day after booked and paid for, again seem to be unable to get a refund. Second time I'm needing to get the refund via bank. Fusion shouldn't be allowed to operate any leasure centre on behalf of Braintree District Council. Update 4th December. My wife likes this place and the hassle I get each time a class that has been paid for is cancelled. Aqua cancelled on the 2nd Dec again, instructed by staff this would be refunded as a cashless payment for next lesson. Again this hasn't been done so chasing a refund again. I just wish my wife wouldn't use this unless leasure centre.

Negative experience: Unhygienic health hazard - despite numerous complaints, management refuse to change the schedule of the aqua aerobics so it doesn't come straight after a school swim session. On several occasions we've had to evacuate the pool as excrement has been found after a child has had an accident! I do appreciate accidents can happen but this is a recurring theme and a simple change of schedule would solve the disgusting environment the group have found themselves in several times. Not acceptable! I won't be visiting here again. The last time it happened they refused to give me a refund and gave me a free pass for another day! I don't think so. Environmental Health need to assess and sort this out as a matter of urgency!

Negative experience: Took my son for an assessment, for swimming lessons Rubbish service, VERY DISAPPOINTED. ☹️ NO welcoming from the Teacher. Should be 10 minute assessment. Teacher finished assessment in 2 mins approx.

Fantastic experience: Purely use this swimming pool for the small pool. Always a warm temperature and clean! Having previously visited Braintree pool and my 1 year old turning blue, we will always choose Halstead!

Negative experience: Went to swim here on the 4th of Jan. I was told it's now a cashless site!! Had brocken debit card so wasn't able to pay cash as an option should be made very clear on the website of this . Was very disappointed that I had to leave as driven a long way! Had cash on me to pay for swimming couldn't do so and this in turn disappointed my young daughter . What more can I say !! not impressed been coming to this swimming pool for over 17 years and taught both my children here .feel let down!!

Negative experience: Their swim instructors hardly ever show up. Their reception staff are clueless. After we requested to leave this shambles they misinformed us on that too. They are now demanding more money and a month's notice to leave even though they told us we could leave at the end of the month. Useless. Avoid at all costs.

Negative experience: Despite teaching my child to swim for three years, would not let her on inflatables. And asked for a refund on cash payment, and was told they could only refund on card. Not a happy customer.

Negative experience: The pool was very cold no wonder not many people use it. My nephew let alone our own children had purple lips and spent 20 minutes shivering before enough was enough. The changing rooms and toilets are so unclean The receptionist today didnt even know how to smile or even be polite. The rather large lifeguard with glasses who was supervising the baby pool....couldnt have made the children or let alone the adults using it baby pool so un welcome. To say the whole set up there and the staff need training in customer services for sure would be an understatement . The old pool as old as it was was always warm and the staff myself being a long term lifeguard there always made the public feel welcome. Not a pleasent visit as all

Positive experience: First time visiting and got a mixed reception. Big sign saying problem with heating and hot water.... Not a great start but can't be helped and signage was clear. Changing rooms are big but dirty... But they were being cleaned. Pool was absolutely freezing cold. Had my two little ones with me so went in baby pool. The water couldn't have been warmer than 28 and the air temp was so low i was shivering. Kids could only stomach around 20 mins. They obviously had a problem but perhaps having the baby pool open was adventurous at best and advising little babies not to swim would have been better customer service. Having worked in leisure for over 10 years I understand their predicament but they were pushing their luck.
