Fantastic experience: I was referred to the gym through the Social Prescriber at my GP. From the moment I arrived I was made to feel welcome. I met with Amanda in the gym, who was brilliant - she not only devised a great workout for me, taking into consideration my health issues - she was also very supportive and welcoming. Throughout my first few weeks she checked in with me and made sure I was OK. She advised me on the best times to visit the gym based on my individual needs. I would highly recommend Amanda and the team there - really helpful.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member here for over 20 years ..it's like my second home ..never had any issue with any aspect ..however ..since the car park upgrade ..please be aware ...you have to park in the painted white line bays ..if not you will get a ticket even if your wheels wander into next bay ..you will get a ticket if parked in disabled without a badge you will also be ticketed for slant parking on pavement in busy times ...beware ...the car park also is not run by leisure centre so they are unable to help you...there are signs ..but very small ones

Negative experience: Cold

Positive experience: I went to swimming pool Saturday afternoon for first swim since moving to area. Unfortunately I found the pool tiles slippery causing an incident. Staff acted quickly but I won't be visiting again. I have been swimming in other pools without incident and I can swim a length.

Fantastic experience: Clean and tidy. Good facilities, and coffee shop.

Negative experience: Wanted to charge 2 teens without money to use a empty slot in badminton court (I get it's a business but still letting us use they're court for a few mins while not in use wouldn't have hurt your profits and we would have definitely payed if service was more thoughtful, so me and my twin had to play on the feild nerby but our shuttlecock flew into the tennis court and the overweight and grumpy employee had to get it and she did not say your welcome when we thanked her, I get that must of been annoying but seriously use your manners)

Fantastic experience: First class service

Negative experience: Quite expensive the the experience. The place has gone downhill since COVID, treating clubs poorly and in certain circumstances treating them like sub-humans. If you go purely with friends occasionally, its ok, bit pricey but nothing special

Positive experience: Was not very great went there to join in a swim class but had to join up for a membership. Wasn’t happy about that because I just wanted to go a couple of times times for swimming. Stupid times the people in the morning would like to go early so won’t be coming back.

Positive experience: Great parking

Negative experience: Female changing room in the gym area have no working showers or toilets. No sign stating this or when they will be fixed . Female changing room downstairs work and have showers, but no lockers to store your belongings. Also, Hygiene waste boxes in the toilets are full and there is lots of flies everywhere. Not a good first impression

Negative experience: Very poor in terms of cleanliness and condition. For months now only a few of the poolside showers work despite mentioning this to staff several times.changing room doors do not all close properly, toilets are often not working . Comments are left but not dealt with.

Negative experience: The pool is not very clean, debris and detritus in the pool, most of the showers are not working and the toilets are often out of service. Very poor conditions for what it costs.

Positive experience: Went to count for general election it was well run event

Negative experience: Expensive for what you get. Facilities are poor & dirty. Showers often don’t work. Pool cold. If it’s a subsidised facility then prices should be better. People should be encouraged to exercise. They NEVER answer the phones. Too many chiefs & not enough Indians ‍♀️

Negative experience: I’ve always used this leisure centre but recently they’ve been giving me strikes on my membership for absolutely no reason at all. There is hardly anyone on reception and never answer the phones

Positive experience: I went there for a chronic pain session so not sure on other things to do there they could do better on there prices I looked for swimming and I know ever thing has gone up in price but for a family going it would work out really expensive

Fantastic experience: Today was my first day at the Leisure Centre,I must say that I throughly enjoyed using the different machines ,Amanda the PT was lovely showned me how to use the machines,very professionally explain to me and very patient, she was with me every step of the way to make sure I used the machines correctly

Negative experience: Used to love visiting the pool on the family deal, but in the last year, theyhave dropped the pool temperartre by several degrees, presumably to save money. Balls no longer allowed, even beach balls in an otherwise empty pool. Too cold, and no longer any fun. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Negative experience: very poor communication no one answers the phone no clear message about swimming availability

Positive experience: Has everything a family could need for sportainment. Often has sales and events during the weekend.

Negative experience: I am here for a dance competition in the hall. Several times men in the gym have been taking photos of the little children (all under the age of 18) when management was told, they have done nothing to support the children instead blamed the parents and the competition itself. How can you condone men taking unconsented photos of children who are half naked? (In costumes). Us as parents are not allowed to take photos of our own children if in a group so why can a grown man who isn’t involved in the competition itself. If you have children please be careful- their safety is not guaranteed nor is it implemented.

Fantastic experience: I had an issue with my membership ended going in to the Clacton leisure centre and spoke to Paul. Paul was amazing my issue was sorted out quickly and efficiently. From a stressful situation with a lot of back and fourth to going in and within 10 minutes Paul had sorted it for me. Amazing service. Gym is also always clean, machines well maintained, I have also been able to book on to classes online easily. Thank you again to Paul for all his help.

Positive experience: The gym is always to packed of people and youl be lucky to get a go on most things there as it’s just cramped I think booking needs to be arranged better so that people have Moore space and Moore of an option on what they can do spa has always been a 10/10 but even that sometimes is just to much people you can’t fit anywhere so I think these maybe are main things that need looking into

Negative experience: Women’s changing rooms not functional and haven’t been for months no fully working showers or dryers many members have made complaints but no response from management.Gym it’s self is dated and in need of a deep clean.

Positive experience: Great classes, lots of covid cleaning in process, easy online booking, good fair booking system with covid restrictions.

Positive experience: The price for membership is reasonable..it is clean and tidy for the most part..there are alot of facilities here to use including a small cafe. Also there is a good age range of members even though sometimes I do feel like I am in a youth club but I think that may just be me getting old. And the gym classesare really good and the PT's that take the classes that I have had are great 99% of the staff here are polite helpful and approachable.issues ! There are many new members and some days it almost impossible to get on the free weights area (small issue) Biggest issue ..the new system to enter your card is absolutely horrible beyond horrendous in fact it is absolutely rubbish..and the new booking system is not very friendly either..and it seems that now you have to book a gym session to just use the gym area to train ..so maybe it has overstretched its members by a more than they can handle? (Greed)? Whatever it is is it needs addressing..right end of moan ..however the new skate park area is really good and is always busy and it is nice to see an area being used by the community on such a regular basis for cool exercise . Overall I give the place 8 out of 10 keep the showers on in the spar fix the entry system and have a look at the booking system especially the waiting list is problem and this place gets 10 out of ten.

Negative experience: Recently the male changing rooms have been awful, only three showers actually function properly and never any soap in the dispensers. Also the cleanliness is really poor, the floor is always filthy dirty this needs to change. Thanks

Negative experience: I can only review the Tennis courts which look over 20 years old and in appalling condition with multiple large cracks running down the whole play area, add to that loads of holes and weeds growing through the tired surface, even broken glass scattered around, The cheek of charging £12:75 an hour for this is an absolute disgrace

Negative experience: I booked a table tennis table for 7pm Wednesday night court 6 arrived 6.55pm court 6 being used for Badminton the court was vaccinated at 7-02pm I then asked the very miserable receptionist if I could have the table tennis table put up.This did not happen, I waited till 7-10pm then returned to receptionist asked again for table tennis table I was informed they were short staffed I would have to wait. At 7-15pm a miserable young man came to put the table tennis up he never apologised for the delay.He the left us about 7-20 with the table tennis net not probably fitted. I wish I could say this is a one off occasion but in the 4 years I have been using the leisure centre this behaviour towards leisure centre users seems to be the norm. On the bright side the A4L staff Maggie, Mandy and Viv are GREAT and do a great job.

Negative experience: Have spent the last 15 minutes trying to book a swimming session as a guest. It clearly states you do not need to register to book however clearly you do need to register to book a session as it doesnt take you to another page. When you register you have multiple choices of gym membership. I do not want a gym membership I just one to book a swimming session for the family which apparently I dont have to register for as a non member and so on . Given up. Some web pages need to be easier to use

Positive experience: It's a bit busy, maybe they have oversold the memberships? so gym is always flat tack and classes quite difficult to get a place sometimes, but it's local, clean, easy to get to, easy to park, the members are very friendly as are the staff, so what more do you want for £34 per month?

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Has good atmosphere. Good classes and nice spa and pool. Only thing I would say is to book classes straight away as they get full so quick and the mornings and after work times get very busy.

Positive experience: Excellent space and facilities management is very poor. Can take months to replace the battery on a, wall clock. Things take forever to get fix if they break

Negative experience: Clean the toilets in spa and floors! No soap in hand wash dispenser for months! Pruce increased 40 45%. Cold when come out of spa into changing area. The changing rooms always stink wash them! Took on way to many members it's a over kill & overload.

Fantastic experience: There's a lovely hall just behind the leisure centre. We had our Rainbow softplay set up for a little girl 1st birthday party. Little Clover's softplay hire

Negative experience: Was happy with it until pay as you go customers price increased 40%, but direct debit customers stayed the same, therefore government again pushing everyone to go cashless, plus the rumours of soon having to book slots online, just lost seven customers in one swoop, no thank you, I like my freedom, not to be tracked and monitored in a cashless society

Negative experience: Too many teenagers. Changing rooms in terrible condition, doors missing, lockers with no locks. Anymore than one person having a shower. Drizzle is more effective. On a positive point however gym equipment and gym area supperb. That's if you can get on anything because of unsupervised teens.

Positive experience: Really want to give more stars because i love my swimming but the changing rooms are freezing undressing let alone when you come out wet,but worse of all is people come in unchallenged without shoe protection spreading all kinds of stuff from their dirty footwear especially if there's an event(there was a dance contest,there was contestants they were mainly barefoot changing not a problem but the hoard of people accompanying them should know better)even ordinarily people accompanying swimming lessons come on the poolside/showers room,please sort before someone slips, really ill/blinded or even worse,please sort.

Fantastic experience: I attend CLC on a daily basis. Nice friendly staff. Great range of facilities. I rate it as superb.

Positive experience: Used the Wellness area. It's is really nice. I think the jets could be stronger. The gym changing rooms stunk though. Something to do with the drains and pipework leading straight to the sewerage. According to a maintenance guy that was fixing something or other there. Overall though , I really enjoyed the relaxation time in the steam himalyan salt sauna and the jacuzzi.

Positive experience: Enjoyed Aquasize and Pilates but finding their booking system very lacking. Tried to cancel one class night before as a space had become available at the last minute for the one I preferred but it wouldn't let me. Luckily the receptionist amended my booking for me.

And may I say it is well worth the pay by dd monthly I go 3 times per week just light excersise and the equipment is first class and the staff ALL THE STAFF IN THE CENTRE IVE MET ARE ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS AND MAKE ONE FEEL WELCOME I havnt been all round the various things to do. swimming. Fit for life classes etc but the friends that do say its first class.. Its always very clean due to the great staff who make sure all equipment etc is sterilized everyday.. Its well worth a visit and try it.. A+++

Fantastic experience: The Leisure centre was an extreme bundle of fun when I went there The Sauna was well kept, the pool was clean and was easily one of the best designed pools at a leisure centre - With a shallow end and a deep end good enough for both experienced and novice swimmers I would recommend this to anyone looking for an activity centre in Clacton - Daniel Furgerson

Negative experience: This place has great potential for so much more. Unfortunately few issues have let it down. I’ve been coming for a month and I only use the gym. Problem seems to be staffing. Had no problems at the front of the building, however the staff inside the gym look like they would rather be anywhere else. Spray bottles to share get hogged by individuals who cling onto them as if their life depends on them. Paper towel dispensers constantly empty and children arriving after they finish at school clowning on machines getting in the way. The facilities seem fine. Few minor things in that regard but considering it’s run by the council you have to expect that. I’d have given it a much better score but it is the staff up in the gym which lets it down massively. It seems all the issues up there could be solved by someone who respects gyms and what they should be and will take the time to right these wrongs.

Fantastic experience: I have been to many of the gyms in my area but this is my gym of choice, I've been coming here over the past 12 years, the staff are lovely, helpful and always have time for you. The gym is very well equipped, if you just want cardio or high end weights and training equipment, they have it all. The classes they offer are spot on too...I highly recommend this gym whenever anyone asks. It's a great atmosphere... we're all there for the same reason...
