Welcome to PureGym London Aldgate, a spacious and well-equipped fitness center conveniently located just a short walk from Aldgate tube station. Our gym offers a range of facilities, including:

Fantastic experience: Big plus point for towels! classes are well structured. I have multi Puregym access and Aldgate branch is by far the best one I have visited amongst Puregyms in the UK.

Fantastic experience: Bravo. Excellent gym. Cool and ventilated. Massive, clean, not too crowded and plenty of equipment! This is by far the best Pure Gym I’ve visited and even has a functional zone with calibrated bumper plates instead of normal - run of the mill bumper plates. Good job! (Edit: I forgot to mention FREE TOWELS)

Negative experience: Nice gym, but you can easily get locked out. You can only use this gym once a day. Which seems like a bit of a breach of contract. Your pin will only work once. I found this out the hard way I got locked out here when I went outside to get a snack from the next door Tescos, only to find I couldn't get back in, all my stuff was inside and the only employee was doing a class so I rang the bell for an hour! Sort this out.

We advise members do not leave and return within minutes as the pods can take some time to register that the member has exited the gym and believes they may still be inside. Negative experience: Supporting other reviews here that it is outrageous to have to pay a premium membership to visit Aldgate but it is closed on weekends. How can a gym charge such an outrageous amount to close two days of the week? Absolutely ridiculous

Negative experience: Not the best been a member for a month it is pretty small so not huge amount of equipment in there the entire time I have been a member these 3 machines been out of action who knows how long they have actually been broke for. The leg curl is left in pieces all the parts are around it gathering dust.. 4 stair masters you normally have to try and work out why they don’t work normally not been turned on for god knows what reason. Already thinking of cancelling. Pretty poor I’m afraid to say

Negative experience: For the 'premium' price this branch charges, it's unacceptable not to be open on weekends (the excuse of 'landlord conditions ' doesn't wash, as this was previously open on Saturdays under the LA Fitness brand). Please ensure either this branch or Tower Hill are opened on weekends (you're at risk of losing business to the new Anytime Fitness open 24/7 in Aldgate). Cleaning isn't up to scratch in this branch, and general maintenance is a bit lacklustre.

Positive experience: Gym is okay my main problem is the dumbell rack is always super messy and the some of the dumbells have the weights drawn on with pen which isn’t amazing.

Positive experience: I came here on a 3 day trial pass and I must say..I’m impressed. Prior to this I attended the Pure Gym at Canary Wharf and I had such a horrible experience. But this Pure Gym was a complete contrast. Once you walk in, there are towels provided - like a classier gym. I went to the changing rooms and I expected something like the one at Canary Wharf…but this one was clean and spacious. Plenty of locker spaces; each locker had an air vent inside which was cool. I believe they’re there if you want to dry any clothing. The gym floor with free weights and machines isn’t the biggest. There are plenty of weights, however, they’re not in order. Plenty of benches too. Machines are close together but it’s not a huge problem. From around 12-1:00 it gets more busy due to all the corporate lads trying to get their workout in before their lunch breaks end. I assume it also gets very busy after 5pm when they leave work. I was there anywhere from 11-3PM and it was essentially empty. Even during the lunch break. Theres a cool downstairs area with more free weights, 2 deadlift platforms and racks which you can do squats on. They have the good type of clips - not the flimsy metal ones. I had a shower here and it was quite clean. HOWEVER, the shower doors do not lock! They are also glass which are opaque. Yes, they do give some sort of privacy, but I’d like more privacy. Especially considering you don’t know who’s going to try and peak at you whilst showering. The water is also at a fixed temp. I like my freezing cold showers, so it was a shame that I couldn’t change the temp.

We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed. At peak times it can be hard to police equipment being placed back, however, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this. Members can use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. Negative experience: Very unhelpful and rude staff (apart from maybe 1 or 2 people like the cleaner). Overly booked, too many people all the time, ridiculous opening hours comparing to other gyms. You almost never find anyone to ask for help. Even if you see someone they try to avoid you. Most of the showers do not work properly, very low water pressure. Overly expensive for the service they provide, but people go there anyway, therefore they do not care about you. Never seen a manage, even if you complain or ask sometime online you only get automatic response. It’s really a shame for such a gym with that location being like this. I should cancel my membership straightaway.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym. Very clean. Towel service. Generally filled with courteous people. Design and layout of a more high end gym then pure. Has black box weights downstairs with a decent amount of squat racks. The machine area is quite good with matrix equipment. The cardio area has lots of treadmills and elliptical with some screens upfront. There is a cycle studio too with usual classes.

Fantastic experience: Recently started back here, as good as before good to be back. Round the corner from Fenchurch Street Station and close the Tower Hill tub. Not open weekends which is a shame as there are now 3 large student accommodations in the surrounding area. Perhaps trial opening on Saturdays?

Positive experience: Perfect for a quick lunchtime workout and for London prices it's good. However some of the equipment especially the running machines have seen better days and could do with some maintenance or fixing

Negative experience: Do not leave any expensive staff in your locker.My locker was broken this morning.They have tried to take my back pack out.Luckaly they have only broke the bottom hinge and they couldn't get the back pack out.The strangest thing was that it was the quite time of the day and it was only me and 2 girls in the gym.Inside job?

Positive experience: Higher tier pure gym. Spread over a couple of floors and rarely excessively busy. Not the biggest space for free weights not has a whole floor for cross fit style training. Also has towels which is a big plus and rare for pure gym.
Fantastic experience: Great gym with really good instructors! Today I did cycle with Marshall which was amazing, great energy, in fact all the cycle classes with every team member has been 5/5 stars! Helena as well was amazing with women's strength training, she helped me learn how to use equipment I wasn't used to and also showed the correct technique. Highly recommended

Negative experience: How can you have a gym and not open at all on the weekends? They still charge full price though... Super annoying and inconvenient

Fantastic experience: Good crossfit step up, facilities and equipment. Easily facilitate most crossfit, strength training, and cardiovascular work WODs. The team is very welcome, Jess is very helpful and professional, helping with access to the gym. Highly recommended!
Positive experience: Good space and equipment but lacking a stair machine. It's also £10 extra + extra if you're a plus member AND it's not even open on the weekends so... I don't think my membership here will last!

Positive experience: I go to this gym a couple of times a week. It is what it is -really basic, no frills. Two floors (cardio and weight machines/ free weights, TRX, cable machine). Free use of towels included. Crowd is mostly professionals who work in the city. No dodgy or sleazy people, also no instragmmers. Hygiene is a bit questionable - no one every wipes down anything and some things (like the boxes) just look gross. It would certainly improve -especially in covid times - if cleaning staff would really wipe down equipment so it also looks clean.

Positive experience: Attended the cycling class 01/12 at 07:15 AM - and the trainer was outstanding. I usually go to Piccadilly, Tower Hill & Whitechapel - but the trainer here was far beyond all of those. He was enthusiastic, motivating, high energy, great music & positive energy. Definitely my new gym of choice. Also when I first entered the gym I had asked him for the changing rooms & he was overall very helpful & kind. Hope he gets the recognition he deserves! Edit: Would give 5 stars if the gym was open on the weekends! Come on guys :-)

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member at PureGym Aldgate for a while now. The gym is absolutely brilliant, ample space and always very tidy and clean. A big thank you to Fitness Coach Helena. She is always very attentive, welcoming and helpful. She has given me lots of helpful advise relating to fitness and training. Helena is certainly a very valuable asset to PureGym!

Negative experience: Probably the weakest Puregym offering I've been too. The space is underground, but when I've been the wifi failed to function and so you are totally uncontactable (something that's an issue for me based on my work). The space is cramped, with too much equipment in too smaller space. I found it warmer than I would have liked for somewhere set up to encourage physical exertion

Negative experience: Okay gym, kit is quite dated and it gets very very hot, they need to crank up the air con, refurbish the place and renew the kit

Negative experience: Editing my previous review…. Second time I’ve had to leave the gym early as absolutely NO internet to access music or stream workouts. Not at all good enough for a central London gym

Fantastic experience: Well kept and decently equipped gym. Biggest plus is the very good basement functional area and the availability of towels upon arrival

We understand that having a 24/7 gym is ideal and we do try to have all of our gyms open at all times. However, due to external factors such as local licensing regulations this is not always possible. We are always looking to make changes that we can to opening hours, and often have other local PureGym’s that will be 24/7 and can be used. PureHelp

Fantastic experience: Very clean and spacious Gym, with lots of equipment and best of all the studio with RGB led lighting and AC with Les Mills equipment. The changing rooms (female) had been refurbished and there are new showers. Peeks of this gym are free to use towels (they need to be returned), shampoo/body wash and conditioner in the showers, flavoured water dispenser (if you are subscribed to the premium plus) and QR code touchless entry. The only thing sadly, is that Les Mills classes have been taken off.

Positive experience: Its ok with descent equipment but the low ceilings in free weight area makes it feel a little cramped. During busy periods its to populated for a feeling of freedom whilst training. Offers towel and good changing rooms though with good cardio eqipment
Fantastic experience: I am a puregym member since 2 years. Thanks to Marshall, one of the personal trainers in this gym, I had one of my best experience with puregym. I planned to run 20km all around London, after 13km I realized that I need to stop somewhere to refresh myself. When arrived in puregym Aldgate my pin code wasn’t working, honestly I was a bit surprised about that. Marshall was there ready to give me the best support I could get after running 13km. He helps me and explained all the options I have with my membership. He took me inside the gym, showed to me where I can get fresh water before going back to my 20km run. I have seen many puregym, but this one in Aldage is really nice inside and thanks to Marshall I will definitely come back for a full training session.

Positive experience: - Decent gym - Showers are freezing cold and it's winter at the moment
Negative experience: Great gym thats about it. I work in the Gherkin and agreed to help my colleagues out one has autism and wanted help with a few exercises. We trained on 2 seperate occasions. Then later in the week had been told my membership was terminated as a result of jealous personal trainers saying I was offering sessions. I'm a big guy so I knew it was a hint of envy. Be warned if you are experienced gym goer you will be discriminated on. Bad customer service. Appalling reasons to terminate contracts of loyal hard working business men.

Positive experience: It's ok. Large & has plenty of equipment & weights but the air conditioning is poor & the wall mounted TV's in front of the cardio equipment have been broken for over 6 months now - don't believe there's any intention of getting them fixed.

Positive experience: Can't complain given price and location. It's functional area was a bit stale but a revamp has radically changed it. There are so many squat racks now that you can probably find one at its busiest! Only thing missing for me, is an airbike. Apart soon that, excellent gym

Fantastic experience: Staff great and very friendly and helpful get a bit warm in the cardio and weights bit haven't used showers so can't comment Tesco extra right outside for before or after snack and v close to travel lodge

Temperature/Air con in our gyms is automatically regulated by smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff can report this to the external company to be looked into by engineers should it be required. Fantastic experience: For the price , this gym is spot on. Good weights equipment across two floors. Lots of cardio machines and classes done my euthastic and friendly trainers Get towels and gel for the showers which is a nice tough for a pure gym . Is very busy around 6 most nights but so are most gyms

Positive experience: Be aware that this gym is Always full from 5 to 7pm . Men's room is always with towels on the floor. Some machines are being repaired for months. However they have a good range of machines and 2 floors

The busyness does fluctuate throughout the day, and from day-to-day. We have implemented a section to the website and the app which informs our members how many people are in the gym at that time and a graph to show the previous busyness of the gym on certain dates for comparison which we have found has really helped our members plan their workouts! We apologise for any delay in repairing machines and often this is a case of waiting for the manufacturer to deliver spares or a replacement. Negative experience: Mouldy showers, unwashed towels that they just chuck in the dryer and reuse, dodgy Aircon, sh1te pop music, old machinery, you name it, PureGym has it. Impossible to communicate with management (if indeed there is management) Would get zero stars if it weren't so cheap
Positive experience: The gym is ok. It is very annoying to register via the two terminals.. I did not even receive my PIN. However I spoke to a very helpful lady on the phone !

Sorry for your initial issues with your pin and gaining entry but I'm glad you managed to resolve this easily. As an online company we don’t have receptions in our gyms. We have a POD system that acts as both an entrance and security system. The PODs monitor entrance through members 8-digit PIN codes as well as having staff monitor the gym and a CCTV Team. Positive experience: No phone reception, buy equipment is alright. Not particularly impressed with the space as the equipment has to be sure over 2 floors, making it quite inconvenient. But the biggest problem is reception.. you can't train for long, in case you're expecting a call. It's a small investment if you ask me
