Negative experience: The pool area and changing rooms are not very clean, toilets often missing soap or toilet paper. Spa area is not cleaned down during the day. Whilst they may have cleaners, standards need to be followed to ensure cleaning is more rigorous.

Fantastic experience: Watched green bowling at Mill End Bowls Club

Negative experience: I cannot comment on the rest of the facilities at this leisure centre but the swimming lessons are APPALLING. There is no continuity of the swimming instructors; my children would never have the same instructor from week to week leading their progress to stall. Added to this the only instructor that can sign off on progress is the child's designated teacher who the kids will see once a month, if they are lucky. This meant that my children became pretty despondent with their lack of progress and knew that it was unlikely that they would be able to progress any time soon which made their mood and attitude worse. When we complained about this we were dismissed pretty unpleasantly by the reception staff. After a prolonged back and forth we were eventually told to contact the swimming manager and given a way to do this. The swimming manager dismissed our concerns with a pro-forma email that did not address any of the points we raised. After a second round of back and forth with the reception staff we were approached privately by a member of staff who admitted that she would not send her kids for swimming lessons here and gave us the details of a much better organisation.

Negative experience: For the receptionist today how just hang up the phone without letting me speak or finish the question with my enquiry. She just need better attitude when answering the phone..

Negative experience: Had children's swimming lessons booked here. It was chaotic and disorganised, with poor communication between the office/lesson confirmations and the teachers double booking themselves. The changing and showering areas were dirty and grubby (there was a used nappy on the floor and grimey tiles in the changing and shower areas). Left early and moved swimming the children's swimming lessons to the Chiltern Lifestyle Centre in Amersham instead (worth the longer drive!)

Positive experience: So difficult to book lane swimming on the website. App works better

Positive experience: The pool is so cold, at least the showers were hot and the pool was quiet.

Negative experience: One star is for the swim lessons scheduling at this place. Having a child 0-3 with Working full time and I speak for all parents I find it utterly ridiculous that you cannot accommodate a one time change in the days for swim lessons. From experience your team will never cancel a swim lesson despite the regular instructor being off and will bring an amateur to teach from the books reading in from the of parents. Completely unprofessional. I have quit the membership from October now.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I did not have a good experience at this gym. They need to update their equipment, interior and exterior of the building. Their policy clearly states no phones in the gym however they will stop you once you record your own workouts which is quite confusing. Probably best to avoid this gym and head towards amersham where their gyms are always fantastic.

Positive experience: Great gym equipment. Shame about the rave music. Unless you’re going to start selling ecstasy at reception, please play something more suitable for a cardio workout. 104-112 BPM is good, 135 BPM just induces a heart attack.

Positive experience: Was a member for a few years. Really enjoyed the gym, classes and the pool. Sadly I left due to the membership team. My membership was due to end and was contacted by another everyone active gym first (hats off to them for their swiftness) asking if I want to continue. My price had gone up which I was hoping to discuss. When the guy who deals with membership at William Penn finally bothered to reply to me there was no discussion to find a better price. So what is the point of having an employee deal with membership. Put it all online, be alot quicker if there is no compromise on price. Save money for more equipment. They don't start till 11am, I'd suggest you at least do some days early. Rest of the team at William Penn are great and incredibly helpful. Two stars lost due to lack of effort on membership team.

Fantastic experience: Given a 5 because I love it, the staff are really lovely and helpful. *BUT* Guys the drinks machine has been out of action for over a week. PLEASE can you fix it. Also would love a coffee machine or the cafe to be open all day. After my early morning workout I'd love to grab a drink/breakfast/roll something.

Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre , great reception team who are very friendly and helpful. Sport hall is great for badminton and other sports. Parking across the street is fantastic and plenty of space.

Negative experience: My daughter did swimming lessons here for 4 months. I pulled her out as she hadn’t progressed from a stage two. Which the staff that signed her up said she will only be in for a short period of time for an assessment (my daughter is 12). She found it highly embarrassing going to do her swimming lessons each week with 5-6 year olds. She also had a different swimming teacher every week. So how can they monitor her progress? if it’s someone different every lesson. Forget the everyone active app that says they will update every swimming lesson with your child’s progress not once did a swimming teacher write any information on it. We was left going around in circles with the staff. It was highly frustrating. So now looking for somewhere more organised. With the same staff each week. I know this isn’t always possible with covid and what not. But it needs to be consistent.

Positive experience: Popular leisure centre (busy but rarely packed) with all the amenities and friendly helpful staff. The swimming pools could do with being a little warmer, especially the learner pool.

Fantastic experience: A very well-maintained pool, friendly staff and a genuine asset to the area.

Negative experience: We held a birthday party there recently and was the worst experience we've had with birthday parties so far. The party room was still occupied by another group 20 minutes after our time slot, it was left dirty and we asked a member of staff to clean it. She was very rude and dismissive and said do I look like I deal with the parties, I work in the cafe. Try to complain to manager and get totally blanked. Never again!!!!

Negative experience: Very disappointed about scoring at swimming lessons. My 8 year old daughter apparently hasn’t progressed in stage 5 for 6 months, hasn’t received even 1 star since May 2019. When I asked if I should practise certain things with her instructor Told me there is no need but he has to wait for the rest of the group to catch up before he starts teaching a new technique. I’m thinking considering changing the pool for Ricky School. Very poor....

Fantastic experience: As gyms go this is pretty good. The bang you get for the price of membership is brilliant. Pool, modern gym, classes and sauna! Come and go as you please with decent operating times. Other gyms would charge you double for this! The staff are good, the place is clean and you even get an app which makes booking classes or appointments fluid. Well done William Penn. Only thing I would say is please replace the swimming pool locker mechanism so they can take tokens instead of 20p's - no big deal just a little annoying but all round good.

Fantastic experience: Clean Gym and Swimming area.... Friendly and helpful staff..... Really enjoy bring a member. Only issue is the opening times really need to be longer... After moving here from my old gym which was 24hours it is Very hard not being able to train earlier and later.

Positive experience: Swimming pool itself is nice! Two pools, one for people who wants to do lines and the other one for children (with a bit warmer water). Lockers are a bit dated and you have to have 20p to use them (very old school, taking into account that you are member or paying for the single visit). Sauna facility is nice, however you are not allowed to take children in (even with parents). Bizarre for the people who have saunas as a cultural tradition (would it be Turkish baths or Finnish).

Positive experience: Appropriately priced facilities which have recently changed hands. Sometimes the changing rooms could do with more frequent cleaning.

Positive experience: Swimming pools a great. There us a kids learning pool for the little ones. They have refurbished the gym too. Now that Everyone Active has taken over management this place is coming along nicely. Unfortunately, when it comes to parking, this place is a victim of its own success. I go there on Saturday mornings and parking is horrendous. Now considering moving swimming lessons to somewhere that I can get parked!

Positive experience: Only rating the pool here. I'm not an amazing swimmer, but i'm ok, i thought i could just join the slow lane and be fine. Turns out i was much quicker than all the adults there (im 15 yrs old), the medium lane was the same, i could do 4 lengths in the time it took the others to do one. I was fed up and went to the fast lane. The people swimming there were annoyed that a kid was also there and warned me not to mess around. I was much quicker than them too. I went to the medium lane which only had one other person and just swam slowly, The lifeguard and management are nice though

Fantastic experience: Recently become everyone active. Loving the new modern app and website. Staff are friendly and efficient and loads of different classes to do.

Negative experience: WAS a lovely place, well managed and our sons swimming lessons were a resounding success, he progressed well and we could always watch him from the viewing room. Now they have been bought out by "everyone active" the amount of pupils in the lesson has doubled, making progress slower and putting an unnecessary strain on the instructors. The viewing room is often locked causing all families (bear in mind the pupils are 4-7) to cram into the restaurant area to wait. The instructor, Shanice, is fantastic. My son went from being utterly useless to confidently leaping in to the deep end in weeks... She deserves better. All the staff deserve better.

Negative experience: fortunately have only been a member for around 2 months on most of my visits will use sauna and steam room however have been unable to use either even when booking and getting a wrist band however today has been the worst the experience having 12 people in the sauna when should be a maximum of eight wristband rules are not I'mplemented so what is the point having them

Negative experience: Facility was nice however the lifeguard was homophobic (made a comment about how we couldn't be affectionnate as it was a public place) and made us feel very uncomfortable, as he was continuosly checking to make sure that we weren't near each other, when we were trying to enjoy an afternoon swim.

Positive experience: Its got all you could want for a council run sports centre, but nothing to make it special. really annoy that phoning through to book courts seems to take forever with no one answering the phone for ages real pet hate with the place is the lockers will only use old pound coins! OK they reception desk will SELL you a reusable token but come on its nearly 2 years since the change just get the locks swapped or at least allow me to rent rather than buy a locker token !

Negative experience: Worst staff, swimming pool is probably not cleaned for months. Atrociously expensive, we were given a badminton court alongside indoor basketball court where teens were causing rackus. I had problem with these guys, the only star they have is for a decent gym.

Negative experience: Cheap but you get what you pay for. Poorly run absolutely filthy. If this was under private ownership heads would roll. Cleaning team if they have one would be sacked straightaway. When things do break it takes absolutely ages to get fixed which shows poor and in adequate management.

Positive experience: Found swimming pool clean an nice size, changing rooms clean ( altho many people seem to leave their belongings in them??!) but very cold changing rooms - really cold you freeze but the time you get to the showers ( that were on o o order on last visit) cold for me - 4 yr old shaking but time got back to changing cubicle amd agree with others cafe usless for food.

Positive experience: The gym has everything you need, the staff are lovely and the classes on offer are varied and well run by passionate instructors. The organisation of this centre could be more modern e.g. app class bookings or better mobile functionality, and making sure the turnstiles are working so you don’t have to queue to check in, but overall functions are good.

Positive experience: Small.. ok for a quick swim.. never used the gym here so can't comment.. my daughter done trampolining here.. waste of money never went back..

Negative experience: Utterly disgusting gym and swimming facilities. Broken lockers, dirty and poorly maintained changing facilities. Only redeeming feature was the friendly staff. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

Positive experience: Typical local council leisure centre. Plenty of free parking across the road. 25m laned swimming pool and a smaller pool used for children's swimming lessons. There is also a small, well equipped gym and a cafe.

Fantastic experience: I must say, I have used a number of gyms. This gym, however, is by far the most impressive and meets my needs perfectly. With a lovely 25m pool, high end gym equipment, numerous classes to choose from throughout the day and free parking - what more could you really ask for? The cost is a downright steal for how much you have access to. Always clean and neat, and the staff are helpful and friendly.
