Anytime Fitness Edgbaston

Negative experience: Two months before my contract ended, I sent an email to them informing them that I started to lose hair so I don’t feel more confident to go back to the gym. My request was denied, and I was told to wait until my contract has ended. I waited until my contract was ended. I realised I was still being charged due to my contract being renewed and without my consent. The issue here is if I have recently requested my contract to be terminated due to health issues. Why would you think I would like to renew my contract? I was diagnosed with Alopecia few months after and wasn't feeling well obviously I am not going to go to the gym! I had to cancel the direct debit with them, as one of their staff told me I can do so because obviosly this is stealing! I then started to receive an email that I owe one month. I am not going to pay it! This shows they don't care about costumers, just the money they can get from people! I really like AF gyms but definitly not this one, never again!!

Fantastic experience: Great staff and great facilities. Would definitely recommend. If you're looking to join, ask for Harry, he's a great and resourceful salesman that can help tailor your gym needs.

Fantastic experience: I tried the gym through the free gym pass on their website for first-timers and it was a wonderful experience! The gym is relatively quiet even during peak hours, quite alot of equipment and classes in the facility. The staff member, Juliana, was really friendly and showed us around the premises. Would definitely come again!

Positive experience: Better equipped but old machines, feels untidy, air con doesn’t work, has a damp smell inside. The other anytime fitness franchise down the Hagley Road is better but lacks some equipments. It’s like fire to frying pan and vice versa. That’s Birmingham!

Negative experience: I have been this gym 3 weeks now . Some equipment are out of order since 3 weeks may be more.No hot water 3 weeks. How they run a gym without hot water and charging over £ 30 a month. Staff are good and helpful. I use gympass membership . I should inform gym pass team

Negative experience: I pay every month I do not have a contract with you for the year At any time I want to cancel I have the right and when I want to cancel you asked me for a reason and I gave you the reason And again you told me We want proof and I gave you proof And again you told me You have to pay this month and I have already been coming to the center since April. Why do I have to pay when I don't come to the center for training?

Negative experience: I joined this gym a few years ago I’ve not said anything about it but I think I have to. The manager previously, it just felt like a business pitch/pushy salesman tactics. They didn’t explain the pricing structure. I was told the information so apparently it was £23 month or something like that. However I didn’t tell me that I was in a contract for 12 months. I said to them after my look around that I was going to think about it and then the manager took it upon herself to contact me and push me to getting a membership. I’m really unhappy about the whole ordeal and this pushy salesman tactic. I don’t know why you can’t be like university of Birmingham gym where they have an outright price for the year because all of these you pay this much a month to 12 month contract which I wasn’t told at the time. It’s really dishonest, and the reason why I went back to Birmingham leisure and then onto University of Birmingham sports and fitness because their membership is clear and you pay for what you get and they don’t harass you constantly calling you to sign up. I hope it has changed with the new management however, I’m really unhappy and will not be coming back and I would say to avoid this place because it’s pushy businessman tactics which aren’t truthfully honest.

Negative experience: I do not recommend this gym to anyone. The equipments are so cheap and non-standard, they easily damage your joints and your body. The gym members were so noisy, talking on the phone loudly. The staff member was helpful and the gym was clean. However it’s not what you need really since the machines were awful.

Negative experience: Having joined at one of the anytime fitness gyms in my local area, I have started to use Edgbaston as its near for work. To be honest it does not compare to the facilities at the other site. Pros - machines empty early morning so no waiting around. Staff - seem polite and friendly. Cons - changing facilities are a major downside, there dirty, look like they are never cleaned...and I go into them every visit. The showers have grime on the tiles and mould. It just hasn't been kept in good order. Hairdryer is like something from 30 years ago, takes forever to dry! The other site I use has a separate changing room with GHD hairdryer and straighteners. Some of the problems with changing facilities are easily fixed. First time I visited to just quickly look around and make sure my fob worked, the staff were in there office with feet on the desk...unprofessional. Overall good gym equipment, but the changing facilities are disgusting in my opinion and other members have said the same on other Google reviews.

Negative experience: Right, for £29.99 it's a no from me!

Negative experience: Locked into a 12 month minimum term, gym is literally falling apart from being here the floor has been damaged and has taken half the gym other sides of the gym have also got dents in but no one has tapped it off at all.

Positive experience: Staff are very nice and friendly. The gym is not very busy and you can always use the equipment you want without having to wait. The range of equipment is decent, though it could be better and the equipment could be repaired faster or soimply renewed (eg some weights are getting rusty or are so used that are dark colour). For the price paid, it provides good value. However, the biggest let down is the cleanliness. It looks as if it's slowly falling apart- all walls are marked, dents are everywhere, web cobs and gum can be spotted here and there. It's just not very pleasant in comparison to other gyms. If this place would be freshly decorated and some new equipment would be brought in, it would make a huge difference.

Fantastic experience: Visiting from out of town and dropped in on New Years Day to get a workout in. Really clean, well appointed gym with friendly staff and good vibes. Next time in Birmingham, I’ll definitely drop in here again for a workout.

Positive experience: It's a decent gym, been here 4 years. It doesn't feel too busy. There are certainly areas for improvement. Things take a while to get sorted ie if machines break etc can be a wait but sometimes they get fixed in a reasonable time frame. I like it because it's comfortable here for sure. Cleanliness is up and down but getting better. If you nag Jordan enough he'll get on it lol.

Fantastic experience: My experience in the gym was excellent. The gym was well kept, organised and had plenty high quality equipment to use during my session. The staff were welcoming and helpful and I didn’t have that intimidation factor that most gyms seem to have. I felt like I’d been there forever and had the freedom to walk around and see what the gym had to offer. I’ll definitely be coming back, I was very impressed.

Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend this gym more! I joined Anytime Fitness in July and I've loved every minute since. The staff are really friendly and welcoming, I felt comfortable going there from day 1 despite not being in a gym for 5 years. Jordan & his team always greet people with a friendly smile and make sure the gym runs smoothly. I do PT with Darryl and his knowledge & encouragement has driven me to push myself and get fitter whilst enjoying every minute of it

Positive experience: Anytime Fitness Edgbaston is overall a great gym. Current staff members ensure a positive, friendly and encouraging environment. The gym is largely well equipped - not often very busy and so you can happily complete a workout without the added time of waiting around for equipment. Albeit not the most glamorous of gyms, staff and members try to maintain its hygiene. Accessible car park via Morrisons / side road parking. Thanks to Jordan, Harry & Co for managing AFEdgbaston.

Negative experience: It was a ok gym but it's not spacious..it doesn't have enough weights bench equipment or free weights as much.i trained a few years there but then re-joined the legendary pure gym which has to be the greatest gym ever...they literally are the best in everything i will not look at another gym again regardless of monthly subscription. It's the complete package that puregym offer were no other little farty gyms can offer. PEACE ✌

Negative experience: Was a member for just under 1 year, my contract was closed a month early as I was pregnant and I was told I would get a one month refund as I had paid for a month that gym was closed due to covid. Refund was authorised and was said to be in my bank the following week, 3 weeks later no refund. Again chased this up and again it was being sent over still another 3 weeks passed and no refund still to this day after months of chasing it up, I no longer have time to peruse this which they knew I was heavily pregnant. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, gym is very clean and staff actually seem bothered about wiping equipment down which I haven't seen in other gyms so top marks for that it made me feel safer given the current situation. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Standout was the new geordie lad! hilarious and very knowledgeable with the advice he gave.... I can still hear his laugh now haha. Keep up the great work you all seem to be doing!

Fantastic experience: We (my husband and I) have been a members for years and although I didn’t join in Edgbaston I will be transferring my membership there. For the first time in a long time the gym looked and smelt clean, not that it didn’t look clean before it just had a different feel about it. Each morning I went I had the most lovely welcome from a new guy (tattoos on neck) sorry didn’t get his name, I forgot my water he made sure I got some, I had a previous problem with my membership that the old manager caused although he seemed to actually be interested and sorted it, I just felt really welcome. The gym was very quiet although not a complaint, it was great actually. There were some nice little touches that exceeded other gyms in the area.

Fantastic experience: First time visiting anytime fitness and first time back in a gym since covid 19 and I have to say it was excellent! The gym was extremely clean, the equipment was well spaced out so that social distancing could be followed, staff around were very friendly and helpful. There is a new guy who has recently started, I think his name was Marc, he was full of energy, really helpful and couldn't do enough for the customers who were also in there. Overall it was a great session in a great gym! Will definitely be returning.

Negative experience: Very commercial as soon as you walk in for your first trial, they really push you in to closing a membership deal when all you want to do is try out the gym first. Wayyy overpriced! If you want to pay monthly, it is £55. Or £35 per week??!! For 2 rooms that have the normal equipment of a local gym that costs £20 a month. They say they don't let the gym get too packed, which was true, only because not many people would pay that amount of money!

Positive experience: Parking is a major issue. Only 2 hours at Morrisons.

Negative experience: Nice clean gym, however they don't care about you only your money, if you get injured you still lose money even if your account is freezed. You have to be on the ball all the time, no reminders when your freeze is coming to an end just that your direct debit is coming out by which time it's to late. Find another gym that looks after it's members

Fantastic experience: AF Edgbaston is like a home away from home! The staff are so friendly and so accommodating (thanks for the emergency socks, Jermaine) that I always look forward to sessions. Totally screwed me over. I do not recommend this gym. Try pure gym its waaay cheaper. Plus dont be fooled the gym itself is not that big only 2 rooms

Fantastic experience: very happy. 24-hour. has everything you really need. I always go very late in even and have no problems however at times even at 9pm can be quite a few people using the equipment. Clean environment and no negative experiences from other gym goers.

Fantastic experience: The gym is an overall decent gym. I have been a member for many months. After recovering from an injury I needed a quiet gym where I can have space to train. After 9pm is dead quiet. I have been once during the day to collect my key fob, usually I visit during unstaffed hours.

Negative experience: Overpriced for what you get which is basically a quieter Puregym. It's very rarely thoroughly cleaned, screens are awkwardly placed so you cant see them while running etc and basic things like clocks so you can monitor the time are not provided. Over and above all of this, trying to get out of the contract if you move away is very difficult which isn't in line with the approach of modern gyms and means you will likely be paying for months that you are not using it.

Negative experience: Worst gym ever! Manager and receptionist dont stick to there word! Worst experience ever wouldnt recommend this gym with staff like that rude and abrupt not willing to help or understand you. I'd rather pay extra and go to a better gym. They dont even deserve a 1 star rating !

Positive experience: It s convenient as it is open 24/7 and not as busy as other gyms. However I believe is a bit expensive for what offers. Not many classes and parking is slightly a problem if you go on a daytime.

Negative experience: swindlers, I have paid for every month and they saying now that I owe them money!!!!

Negative experience: Staff are friendly enough but the club is falling apart. Massive dent in the floor which hasn't been fixed for months. Most of the equipment is starting to rust. I suspect the owner is probably looking to sell the club soon.

Positive experience: It's a good gym, but on the pricier side. Customers are friendly, as are the staff. Sometimes hard to get a changing room at busy periods.

Positive experience: Clean and quiet, but it doesn't have a big enough variety of equipment and its overpriced

Fantastic experience: Open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Plenty off peak times available. Clean and sanitary environment, and excellent customer service! I get excited every time I think about coming to work out here and sad when I leave to go home. I LOVE IT!!!

Positive experience: Gym of good standard just a few items of equipment missing

Negative experience: Very unhappy with the way I was treated when I wanted to cancel my membership 4days after joining as the gym did not have the equipment I needed. No refund was given even though the contract stated they had a 7 day cooling off period . Cowboy operation . Expensive for no good reason
