Positive experience: £40 pcm for a no-frills gym is on the pricey side when considering that Pure Gym is between £21 - £27 pcm. They used to offer a gym only membership for less pcm but that’s no longer available, or wasn’t offered. I agree with previous reviews, the toilets are grim. Only 3 benches for free-weights which get clogged up with muscle heads sitting on them whilst scrolling on their phones. Not necessarily the gym’s fault, but annoying nonetheless. If you are looking for a local, no-frills gym, but at a considerable cost pcm, then it’s fine.

Positive experience: The classes and gym are great! The gym and classes spaces are clean and the instructors are helpful. I just wish the toilets were cleaner and smelt better.

Negative experience: it's gone really down hill, we only really use the soft play now but even then the so called cafe that is supposed to be open until 4.30 everyday is always shutting early even though they have things up everywhere stating you can't consume your own food and drink, you have to purchase on site well would be happy to if you actually stayed open for us to do so. it happens multiple times a week every week. the lady working today Tuesday 14th May was closed at 3pm that's 1 and a half hours early

Negative experience: Attempted to use the gym today as a disabled customer that needs to sign in at the desk. Was left waiting for over 30 minutes whilst a single staff member was dealing with clients in front. Saw multiple other staff around, including a few loitering behind the desk and not one offered to sign me in, which would have taken one minute. With other things I needed to do today I had no choice but to leave. Completely unacceptable and no respect for people's time. Clearly the staff need training.

Fantastic experience: I think we are the 1st people to play Pickleball at TRC. The experience was fantastic. The courts were nicely set up. We had 2 courts for 2 hours - so our Elmbridge U3a squad could play together before our next league match. All nicely finished off with a lovely coffee & a chat in the cafe. We will be recommending TRC to our other Picklers! Thank you

Negative experience: The staff are really pleasant and nice people… but my god the gym is in a desperately bad state of repair! All benches have deep rips and holes in and are unstable, the equipment is old and poorly maintained, lots of cardio out of order, aircon filters are caked in dust and need a hoover, cable attachments fraying or ripped, freeweights and dumbell area is a mess and god knows when the floor was last cleaned, let alone any of the equipment! I only use the gym here but it’s not worth £39 a month, luckily I pay discounted rate on gym pass but I’d be reluctant to go to that price it’s simply not worth it! The gym is in a desperate need of TLC and dare I say an upgrade. The staff are a nice bunch and I don’t think they seem to be supported from higher powers to bring the gym up to where it should be! I hope to see a change one day

Negative experience: I am deeply disheartened to share my recent experience at Tolworth Recreation center, which was not only disappointing but significantly distressing. As a 5-month pregnant mother of a 2-year-old, I have been a regular customer, appreciating the convenience and family-friendly atmosphere of this establishment. However, my latest visit has compelled me to reconsider my patronage. On this occasion, we arrived early for our 1:15 session, expecting, as in the past, that this would not be an issue. To our surprise, an employee named Aren refused us entry, contrary to the welcoming policy we had experienced before. My child, understandably upset by the unexpected wait, began to cry and scream, a situation that any parent finds challenging. Rather than offering assistance or understanding, Aren remained indifferent, even suggesting that he had never seen us before, implying that I was being dishonest about our regular visits. The situation escalated to a point where, overwhelmed by frustration and the public spectacle, I found myself in tears. It was only thanks to the kindness of another customer, who offered to leave the play area so we could enter, that we were finally allowed in. This incident highlights a concerning lack of empathy, professionalism, and training among staff, particularly in dealing with young families and regular customers. Such behavior is not only unbecoming of the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that Recreation center purports to uphold but also reflects poorly on the management and training protocols in place. I urge the management team to investigate this matter thoroughly. It is crucial to ensure that all staff are adequately trained to handle similar situations with the grace, understanding, and customer service that one would expect from a business that serves families and children. My hope in sharing this experience is not only to seek redress but to prevent similar incidents from occurring to others in the future.

Negative experience: Price increase again, I have been looking around and realise there’s much nicer gyms offering more for less money, therefore I will be cancelling my membership.

Positive experience: Gym quiet today ...no "tok tok" posers hogging the equipment, no groups of teenage boys vaping and being disruptive. At last could train with ordinary people, who are respectful at my safe pace. Like the card scan if it keeps the yobs out.

Fantastic experience: I visit this place every year for the Garba festival during Navratri, an Indian Festival organised in recreation hall. The place had ple ty of space including just outside parking.

Fantastic experience: I went there for the gym. It was clean and organised with super staff. Altogether it was a very nice experience and will definitly go there again. Highly recommended

Positive experience: Fantastic location, well sized sports hall - notably for the Navratri festival. Plentiful parking available. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Navratri function hosted by the Hindu Sarvoday community is extremely popular and well received and a fantastic location for such a joyous occasion. Its popularity means there are naturally disappointments owing to the size constraints.

Positive experience: Car park needs proper lighting and a lot of attention. Some youths drinking and hanging around made my family uncomfortable. Good facilities inside.

Negative experience: The worst place in the world they don't know how to organise the garba hall they tell we will take you in 30 min in hall but then they don't give entry we have 4 month baby 7 month pragnent lady still we have to stand 3 hours out side the hall in 7 degree cold weather is these the way you people organised things. They don't give entry to 200 people is these a joke of our festival and our festival feelings

Negative experience: Gym is very outdated! Upholstery/seats ripped to shreds, often no music or some relaxing/romantic music playing, very expensive for what it is. On the plus side, it’s usually not busy and free parking.

Negative experience: Would of been 3 stars as the softplay is very nice and my Son had a lot of fun but safety is a real issue. There is a door right in the middle of the softplay leading into another hall which leads straight into the main foyer area, it's not difficult for kids to run through and out into the carpark! The door wasn't locked until I over heard another child mention to their parents about kids unlocking this particular door! I then told reception about this and the door was finally locked from the other side by a member of staff. There is also a little bit in the back where the older kids can unzip some of the softplay which leads into a dusty random part and a little girl locked my Autistic Son in there, I don't know how long he was in there for but thank god I came looking for him! This is seriously concerning pairing the fact that the softplay is not supervised by anyone.. no staff members coming into check or clean up. Nothing. It's a lovely softplay but this safety issue really needs a permanent solution.

Positive experience: A large sports hall with high ceilings, but variable quality badminton nets. Shower and changing facilities are often closed at 2200,even though courts can be booked until 2230, which is ridiculous.

Negative experience: This place is awful. I arrived on a Sunday and I was greeted by a rude receptionist who made me go back home once and almost again. I honestly felt like I wasn’t welcome to the place. She said that you had to be supervised for table tennis by someone who is 16+ and that I had to pay 9 pounds for 45 minutes. Terrible.

Negative experience: Gym doesn't open until 6.30am and even then in the 2 months I have been going, at least 6 times the staff have not bothered to turn up on time to open up, leaving members standing around in the cold waiting. This is disgusting and is the reason I have cancelled my membership. The Tolworth branch only has 1 squat rack and this has been broken with a 'Called Maintenance' sign for 3 weeks! This gym is a joke.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have been coming to this facility /venue for over 25 years. I had some health issues, hence I used TRC for this number of years.over the years I found immense changes. We only have to mention any suggestions or feed back, in a matter of a short time there were changes, apologies and no excuses. We are senior citizens and the respect, support with guidance is second to none. The two blonde ladies in the front desk are just superb. It's A WOW moment from the time we come in to the time we leave. The staff were and still are friendly, using our names and always courteous. Recently, I have come back again after being away and I have found huge upgrades to the whole area. The facilities look beautiful with immaculate equipment installed in all areas. It's clean and so inviting to stay longer. At no time we have found anybody falsely selling any new subjects. A big BRAVO and THANKYOU to the previous and the present management, all the relevant staff involved in running the gym, the personal trainers who helped me to regain my health. My wife and I, my family will always want to be part of this wonderful venue/gym. We thank you again for maintaining the TRC venue to the present welcoming state it is in.
