Our comment from FitFit UK about Hengrove Park Leisure Centre:
Hengrove Park Leisure Centre is a well-regarded sports facility located in Bristol, United Kingdom, offering a variety of amenities that cater to families, fitness enthusiasts, and swimmers. Many users appreciate the helpful and friendly staff as well as the excellent facilities, including two large swimming pools and a well-equipped gym.
Visitors have noted the convenience of free parking for leisure centre users, which adds to the overall positive experience. The centre is praised for its clean and spacious pools and fun activities such as inflatable sessions, which children particularly enjoy.
However, several reviews highlight some areas that need improvement. Concerns have been raised about hygiene standards, particularly in the changing rooms and showers, which many users have described as dirty or in need of deep cleaning. Additionally, there have been complaints regarding the parking management, with numerous users receiving hefty fines despite registering their vehicles, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction.
While Hengrove Park Leisure Centre has great potential and offers various fun activities, enhancing the cleanliness of the facilities and addressing the parking issues could significantly elevate the user experience for future visitors.

Hengrove Park Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Now the membership fee is £49.50…no new equipment and every time you go into the gym it feels like a sauna. No working air conditioning. Why put the heat on in a leisure centre? That’s not safe when you’re working out??? The swimming pool is always booked because every week there seems to be an event on, so what exactly are you paying for? Would go somewhere else but this is the closest.
Fantastic experience: Nice place around bristol to go to badmintion
Many thanks for your positive feedback. We look forward to seeing you at the centre soon.
Negative experience: Has gone really downhill re cleanliness in changing rooms and in general - used to be brilliant and clean! Now big balls of hair everywhere in showers. Very smelly toilets. To extent that I have stopped coming (and I used to come twice a week). Predatory parking company issuing large fines. Worst is the kids swimming lessons are bordering on dangerous - large groups with very young and disinterested instructors (often different week to week)shouting from the sides and no one in water with kids. Lessons going on throughout pool at same time so very noisy and bewildering. Because she was a good swimmer my 4 year old ended up in a large group (12 of them) with much older kids and was literally of her depth - with no adult in the water. When she panicked and struggled to climb out the instructor said they weren’t allowed in to get in to help her. Tried to talk to management to discuss options for her but it seemed no one really oversees lessons?! Accident waiting to happen imo. Moved to another pool where she is group of 4 with instructor in water with them - for same price! They couldn’t believe ratio at hengrove was even legal.
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding the cleanliness of the changing rooms and the safety of the swimming lessons at Hengrove. I sincerely apologise for the disappointing experience you've had, especially given your history of regular visits. We strive to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, and it is clear that we have fallen short in this instance. Your observations regarding the condition of the facilities and the structure of the swimming lessons are extremely concerning, and I assure you that we take them very seriously. In the meantime, I would appreciate it if you could complete a contact us form via our Website so we can investigate this further
Negative experience: DO NOT VISIT OR RISK PAYING £170 PARKING FINE. Being new to the leisure centre I forgot to punch in my car registration number and was charged £170 with no ability to appeal. They claimed to have sent reminder letters but these never arrived - was not given a single notice until a debt recovery letter arrived. If you must visit, DO NOT use the car park as the financial risk is too high and you will not be able to appeal. Recommend that the leisure centre changes parking company ASAP as Smart Parking Ltd is intentionally taking disproportionate sums of money from innocent people, and this is very bad for the leisure centre's reputation.
Thank you for your review. Just for future reference there is an appeal procedure on the reverse of your parking charge notice. This would need to be done in the first instance. The centre will be happy to discuss any appeal that is unsucessful to see if we can offer assistance. If you would like your reg added to the whitelist as a member of the centre please do speak to the reception team. Many thanks ❄️
Negative experience: Just horrible customer service. Trying to call 4 times too book a swimming session. Because website doesn't work. Try to register few times but just still no sexes. I don't know how it's possible if you call evri 15 minutes waiting 5 minutes on line no answer. Really disappointed.
Dear Alona, Sincere apologies for the delay. We are upgrading the online services which is why there is a delay on the website and application. Please call 01179370200 and selct Option.2 for Sales and Memberships. One of the Advisors will receive your call and help you with bookings and support. Thank you!!!
Fantastic experience: Helpful and friendly staff. Great facilities.
Fantastic experience: Hengrove Park Leisure Centre five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent parking
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Although we do have a large free car park there is always someone who prefers not to park responsibly. We do not condone this parking method and welcome our visitors to let us know at reception so we can action the behaviour, Many thanks
Fantastic experience: Very nice pool
Thank you for your 5 star review. It is good to see our amazing hard work as a team is paying off. Many thanks
Negative experience: I was considering finding out how much it would be for swimming sessions on an hourly basis and I inquired! However a swimming membership here was a little bit off putting at just over £220 a year. Undoubtedly if it had individual swimming times at a reasonable price of £5 to £6 an hour - I would have been a little bit more enthusiastic about it! As it is! I'm just a bit wary about it. A little bit of posting of public swimming sessions might be more helpful. Just not slightly clear enough! A bit of a pity but that's the way that things go.
Thank you for your feedback. We do infact have hourly public or lane swimming available at £5.20 per hour. We do offer concession prices, available on receipt of entitlement. The swim membershps also include the pool classes we provide. We also have very competitive full access gym memberships if you would like to discuss in more detail?
Fantastic experience: Went to a rave in staples
Fantastic experience: Free car parking for users of leisure centre
Thank you for your 5 star review. It is good to see our amazing team's effort is paying off. Please do let your friends and family know, we will be happy to give a 3 day pass to anyone wishing to try out our facilities.
Fantastic experience: The problem is the car park charges but is a very clean and comfortable facility
Thank you for your 5 star review. Just to illiterate that the parking is free for three hours every visit for Leisure Centre Users.
Negative experience: Had the worst swimming experience ever could only use the baby pool they don't open the big pool so my kids couldn't Play or jump in is less then 2 metres deep. The showers had no hot water and we're very dirty and changing rooms were freezing. Will never go back.
Fantastic experience: Nice big pool in modern building
Fantastic experience: The Free 3 hour parking is great
Positive experience: Horrible water quality, it tastes quite salty. But the Leisure center itself, it's really nice and has amazing space to play sports like cricket or football
Negative experience: This swimming pool doesn't cater for teens or big kids, such a shame but this great pool which could be a lot of fun and place to learn to dive etc but all you get other then lane swimming is a baby pool with loads of little kids, taking a 13 and 11 year old boys in there is completely inappropriate. It's been like this gif years and it doesn't matter what time of the week you go
Negative experience: Showers badly need a good deep clean. Wall tiles v dirty.
Fantastic experience: Been here to swim in the nursery pool, and for the Atlantis inflatable session. It's a well run, well maintained pool, with friendly lifeguards. Always loads going on here, and free parking too, just make sure to register your car at reception.
Negative experience: Super busy gym. Usually wasting half of your gym time, waiting in a queue for an equipment. Parking just a disgrace. I was once charged for no reason and appealed but my appeal was rejected by the parking company. Then I appealed the rejection through a third party ombudsman and then my appeal was accepted. It seems they write tickets randomly and the charge is overturned only if you resort to ombudsman. This is disgraceful.
Positive experience: The 50m swimming pool is great but the changing rooms/showers/lockers are disgusting. They haven't been cleaned for months.
Negative experience: Went to Atlantis Splash with children few times and got disappointed with life guards and staff at the pool side. The reception staff strictly tell to wait 15 minutes before the start time and don’t let you in, therefore this creates long waiting times at the pool side. All 5 times we’ve been there - it was always overbooked and overcrowded which resulted in chaos and long queues to slides. The worst is that all 5 of our sessions started always 4 - 7 minutes late due to them not being on time at the reception and then at the pool side lifeguards are slow with everything even though people were ready to go onto inflatables. Hope management can see this review.
Negative experience: I can’t comment regarding the rest of the centre, but the swimming pool area is in a disgusting state. I last visited around 8 years ago, and boy has it gone downhill since. Sadly I didn’t take photos, but let me paint a picture: in the changing area, the floors are muddy due to people walking in with outdoor shoes, empty Lucozade bottles are strewn about all over, random trash everywhere, and the cherry on the cake, a dirty nappy in the middle of it all! Really sad how gross this place has become since opening just over 10 years ago. But, a healthy mix of visitors’ lack of respect and hygiene, and managerial incapability, will certainly do that to a place. I’m glad I wore sliders as I’m certain I would’ve caught some form of foot disease otherwise. Avoid!
Negative experience: The swimming changing area's are dirty and the showers are outdated. Every time I go to use the pool, the big pool is always split into lessons and the public bit is a small area where you can only swim one way and if you want to do your own thing, you have to go to the kids pool and theres always loads of kids going crazy throwing stuff and the life guards barely do anything about it. My younger brother has also told me that when he uses the gym, he also gets bullied by older guys and he got his stuff stolen once. It's a shame as the leisure centre itself is nice and it has so much potential to be better.
Fantastic experience: Amazing as always will go here although air X is boiling kids didn't enjoy it but they loved the pool and Atlantic splash
Negative experience: The place is really dirty. You can tell that The changing rooms, sauna, steam room and spa have never been deep cleaned. It is really nasty and disgusting.
Negative experience: Unfortunately the centre offers no dedicated adult only casual swimming time slots. The 20:30 - 21:30 on Mondays/ Thursdays and the 20:00 - 21:00 on Fridays would be perfect for this, as on good days it’s exactly that and becomes one of the best, affordable places in Bristol to swim as an adult. The only option for adult only at the moment is lane swimming but can confirm that instead of using the entire area used for lane swimming they’ll instead cram as many swimmers as they can into each lane so you’re constantly either gaining on someone and/ or have someone right behind you, not at all able to swim at your own pace and set your own goals. My reasoning for these casual time slots to be adult only is because of my terrible experience the other day: I went on Thursday the 18th of July 20:30 - 21:30pm for casual swimming. The pool was filled with kids, about 4 of which were messing around slamming floaties into the water and consistently getting in the way of the 3 adults who were actually trying to have a swim. This doesn’t always happen during this time slot but pretty much means you’ve wasted your money and time when it does. The pool had varying lengths of toilet tissue paper inside of it, floating around which would consistently touch you, and float underwater into your face whilst you attempt to swim. This disrupted other swimmers in the pool as well. On both of these issues the lifeguard on duty sat there absentmindedly, phased out and disinterested, (on the tissue problem he said “no, I don’t know why it’s there”, and gave a glum, vacant look as I pulled parts of it out of the pool and dumped it in front of his chair.) When the much more competent female lifeguard replaced him on the hour she immediately told two kids that they were not allowed to climb each other in the pool, which he had been ignoring prior. I didn’t stick around much longer as patience had gone, as well as I’d reached my limit with the disgusting condition of the pool, finding more and more tissue paper despite trying to remove some of it myself. I told another attendant who was cleaning the changing rooms about the heaps of tissue paper floating in the pool and she said “don't worry, the chlorine will disinfect that.” Finally spoke to the receptionist on the way out who clarified it was not right, agreed it was disgusting and said it would be sorted / removed. Returning the next day for the 20:00 - 21:00 slot, I decided my partner and I would look through the window before paying, The pool was filled to the brim again (despite very few having booked in advance online), which we could see through the glass. We asked if the tissue paper had been removed from the day before and was told “by the time we checked it, we couldn't find any.” My partner concluded that it might have naturally filtered through the system eventually throughout the night, but we weren’t about the spend more money again just incase we had the same experience. There was a tonne of it the day before, so the receptionist’s comment was surprising, I wasn’t the only paid customer dealing with it though so maybe something had happened after I had left the pool. As we left, we could see even more children now splashing and throwing a volleyball across the length of the teaching pool(???) and kids diving repeatedly, which I know for a fact is prohibited in that pool. We felt bad for the one adult lady who was struggling to swim widths as the ball almost hit her in the head and splashed next to her. Couldn’t see which lifeguard was on duty, but presume with the amount of health & safety infractions that it's the same guy who was daydreaming the day before. Apologies for the lengthy complaint. When the pool is clear of children on these time slots it’s absolutely perfect. Please consider adult only times on these late night, final times slots for casual swimming, even if it’s just for the summer holidays whilst the kids are out of school. My partner and I were about to commit to full memberships, now we’re not really sure what to do.
Fantastic experience: Nice clean place, really pleasant customers and very friendly staff, unlike other leisure centres, great place to swim.
Negative experience: I attended an event here in March, I paid for parking but received a parking charge notice for taking five minutes extra to leave the car park. The ongoing inconvenience of having to appeal against this, the poor customer service from both the car park operator and the leisure centre has ensured that I will never visit here again with my family.
Fantastic experience: The gym has a great atmosphere, the PT’s are friendly and helpful, in particular V’s enthusiasm shines through!
Fantastic experience: Vee was really lovely and knowledgeable in the gym area, helped me get a good routine while being very good at pushing me!
Positive experience: Great service good staff and loss weight to boot can't be bad
Negative experience: Received a £100 fine after my child input the wrong reg details to validate parking. Like another reviewer, although I shared my receipt and they accepted we were parked legitimately, they still charged us. An absolute con. Have spent over £7000 on swimming lessons over the years for our three children. Don’t visit until they ditch this awful third party managing their parking.
Negative experience: Received a £100 fine for forgetting inputting reg details. I shared my receipt proving I was visiting for a legitimate reason to appeal it. the appeal was rejected, won’t be visiting again whilst they have this ridiculous third party managing their parking.
Positive experience: My daughter has swimming lessons here. She loves the lessons. Staff all friendly and helpful. Changing facilities could be cleaner.
Positive experience: The pool is great and the staff very friendly, but the public lane swimming is managed poorly, often most of the pool is empty and everyone is crammed into 3 or 4, 25m lanes making it very difficult to swim properly, there are limited opportunities to swim in 50m lanes
Fantastic experience: Great fun on the inflatables in the pool. Kids loved it.
Fantastic experience: My partner takes our boys swimming here occasionally - they love it. I personally love the soft play. It's so nice and bright with natural light flooding the area, super affordable food, you only need to pay for the child. Location is also good, we like to go to McDonald's after then go to a fantastic playground that's a 5 min walk away then go home and my kids are pooped by the end of it
Negative experience: Be careful with car parks there scammers they will tell you it’s free and then they will tell you you’re entitled to 3 hours, I registered my car but they sent me letter from debt recovery plus to pay £170 I proofed to them that I registered and I’m entitled to park but they said you have to pay £170. They want me to pay without no reason I parked my car only 40 minutes on 9/2/2024 and I registered my car and I’m still have to pay without reason Be careful please
Fantastic experience: Really impressed with this new leisure centre. Attended a well ran judo competition (as a coach) here recently.
Fantastic experience: I enjoyed my self in the park with amazing games
Positive experience: Popped into the leisure centre for a coffee and catch up with old colleagues. The centre was busy with families and school children.
Positive experience: So far not too bad. I've only recently moved from Birmingham to Bristol and found Hengrove Leisure resembling the gym I'd be going to for a long time back in Brum. Main downside is.... parking. The company in charge of the facility has managed to fine me on my first week when I've forgotten to put my plates into their system. Despite my - unsuccessfull - appeal and eventually paying £20 admin fee I'm still receiving threatening letters. Awful ppl
Fantastic experience: Great pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. When it's all working
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities and friendly staff. We have recently become members and I cannot praise Archie, one of the Fitness Trainers, highly enough. I am a complete novice in my mid 60’s and this young man took me through my Induction. Professional, friendly, inspiring, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about health & fitness. Many of the staff at the Leisure Centre are fantastic… but Archie is exceptional. He is a credit to Hengrove Leisure Centre.
Positive experience: Friendly welcome, only in a meeting room so didn't see rest of centre
Negative experience: Nothing but dirty and crafts. If you come to this place by car you need to be CAREFUL ❗️ Why? The car park isn’t safe, children in this area are very naughty, my car was damaged badly. Also a fine ticket of £100 is always awaiting for a moment soon when you forget to insert your car’s details into what they called Smart Sparking. Shower is always cold and people would jumping into the jacuzzi with their slippers. How disgusting!! Steam room is always not working. Think twice before you join in. I’m glad to find a nicer, safer and cleaner gym which is only 2mins away, much cheaper and unlimited parking.
Fantastic experience: Really good facility, there is a gym, swimming pool, group lessons, sauna, jacuzzi
Negative experience: I went swimming here and parked in the car park that is advertised as free for the first three hours. A week later they issued me with a £100 parking fine. Most expensive swim of my life. It’s criminal.
Fantastic experience: Did the freediving comp here recently (Mar'24) and was blown away with the facilities! The staff were sound too. Fine spot.
Negative experience: Received a £100 fine for not inputting reg details accurately back in December. Hengrove reception told me to share my receipt proving I was visiting for a legitimate reason and that once I had made the appeal they could cancel the fine. As expected the appeal was rejected and Hengrove continue to not answer their phones, I’ve called multiple times every day for the last 28 days. Won’t be visiting again whilst they have this ridiculous third party managing their parking.
Negative experience: Got a missed call so called straight back. Tried 9 times with all 4 options over 20 minutes and not 1 answer! Found out once turned up that class cancelled- that's 1 hour notice for the class but 25 mins notice for disabled person who needed to be prepped for the class- not good enough. Today it cost a taxi fare, a support person's travel and time and the disabled persons time and effort. Also after 35 mins still no one tried to recall me to let me know of the cancellation so not much care there at all. Disappointing experience!
Negative experience: Sat here right now while my eldest is in his swimming lesson. I didn’t give 1 star because the lessons that both my sons attend are fab, so are their two teachers Tilly and Sam. BUT apart from that, this venue is utterly disgusting. It makes my skin crawl. Every single table around us is covered in rubbish and the floor is vile. The changing rooms are honestly probably the worst we’ve used. Today I’ve seen used plasters on the floor. I also witnessed a teenager coughing and spitting on the floor (I told him he was disgusting) but that is now just left in the changing room for no doubt another kid to stand on. I have made staff aware. This place is honestly grim which is such a shame because your facilities and activities are amazing. I’m going to send an email to your head office too because we need a good leisure centre like this but it absolutely has to be hygienic as a top priority.
Negative experience: This is easily one of the nicest pools in the area. The changing facilities are spacious and private. However the parking at Hengrove is operated by an awful company. Be warned! If there is one mistake entering your registration onto the tablets(which is very easy to do as it doesn't verify the registration like the Everyone Active gyms) then you'll receive huge fines of over £100, even if you prove you were using the centre! Until Hengrove use another parking system I won't be going back. I would recommend using any other local leisure centre in Bristol where they haven't outsourced their parking to sharks.
Negative experience: I have cancelled my membership following an absurdly expensive parking fine that was sent to debt collectors even while I was contesting it. I definitely used the parking registration system but apparently ‘it happens all the time’.
Fantastic experience: Busy but great facilities, free parking if you’re lucky enough to get a spot; but don’t forget to validate at reception!
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities I love that they have so many classes !
Positive experience: Very friendly there is a gym swimming baths soft play all very busy so must be pre booked there is a cafe too
Fantastic experience: I Really Enjoyed Going There With My Support Worker Ben Williams And I Enjoy Swimming With Him And Make New Friends.
Positive experience: I am sorry, but place wasn't up to my standards of hygiene. Also it wasn't clear that we would be using small pool. Overall pretty yucky, wear flip-flops!!!!
Negative experience: I have been a member at leisure centre almost 4 years. Never had an issues on the gym floor even when it is very busy or one of the Gym instructors / Personal trainers training someone. But today I was stopped by Personal trainer middle of my workout and she asked me to stop and move away from Ski machine because she needed for hers client. Never in any gym that has happened to me in my whole life. Kicking out someone half a way through workout and dropping heart and and body temperature and ask come back after they are done can lead to severe some kind of injury. I felt very upset. Went downstairs to give my feedback to manger but response was very poor. Also gym floor is not the cleanest as well as female changing room and toilets were very dirty. Sinks in toilets were full with some kind of black dust/hair and water did not go down the sink. I hope management will pay attention what is happening on the gym floor and incidents like it not going to happen again.
Negative experience: Would not returning as the manager was rude and had a disappointing experience with this gym. Despite booking through their online system, the gym was due to close and not update their website, leaving me and my family without the service I had arranged. When I approached the manager for assistance or a refund, I encountered rudeness and an unwillingness to help. This lack of customer service left me frustrated and dissatisfied with my overall experience.
Positive experience: Really lovely fairly modern huge pool and I like the current green views - although they will probably build on the land soon... It's pretty functional, no slides or fun attractions except when they host Atlantis Splash!
Negative experience: Currently running a car parking scam - entered my reg on the tablet at reception but still got a penalty notice. Been informed that they can rescind it if I pay £20 or take my chances appealing with the third party parking form.
Fantastic experience: My daughter has swim lessons here every week. She is doing great, when she first started two months ago she was frightened of putting her face in the water. She could not swim without an aid. She now swims under the water and can swim without an aid. Her confidence in the water has grown immensely. She wants to keep going with lessons and progress to do synchronised swimming after watching them rehearse whilst waiting for her lesson to start. Watching her swim and the pure joy it brings her is the highlight of my week.
Negative experience: PARKING SCAM - DO NOT GO TO THIS LEISURE CENTRE - PARKING SCAM. They say to enter your car registration and you still get fined regardless. Just look at all the other Google reviews of people all reporting the same thing. SCAM!
Negative experience: Had a three day trial. Gym and pool are both large, but that's where the positives end. Changing rooms and showers are filthy. Toilet paper was on the floor for three consecutive days when I went. Toothpaste and what appeared to be mud had been sprayed up the shower cubicle wall. Jacuzzi hot tub is cold, not heated at all. I sent an email asking how often the changing rooms and showers were cleaned, and what the temperature of the hot tub is set at, but I never received a response. A couple days after my trial finished. I received a marketing calls from the leisure centre asking if I’d like to sign up with them. I explained that I had emailed but received no response and I asked them on the phone how often the showers were cleaned and what are the temperature of the hot tub was. They told me that they didn’t know how often the showers were cleaned and that it’s supposed to be done by the lifeguards..they told me that they didn’t know how often the showers were cleaned and that it’s supposed to be done by the lifeguards. they also told me they don’t know what the temperature of the hot tub is set at and that they would speak to their managers, who would then gets back to me. I wasn’t surprised when I receive no response from management after waiting two weeks for one. Conclusion: For more than £40 a month, I would expect the changing rooms and showers to be cleaned at least daily and I would expect professionalism from the staff. Unfortunately both of these things are not apparent and I would warn anybody before taking out a monthly or yearly contract with the leisure centre that you check these conditions for yourself. If I had actually received a phone call back from the managers I might well have ended up signing up to the leisure centre because it’s closer to me than other gyms. However, I have now signed up to another gym which happens to be a lot cheaper and the quality is much higher.
Negative experience: I’ve given up with Hengrove leisure centre for virtual spin classes. The last 4 times I’ve been there the virtual class isn’t set up. Sometimes I can find the staff and they try and set it up, but sometimes they’re not around. It should be standard practice that before a virtual class, someone on shift checks it’s on. I’ve even tried the first class of the day at 6.30am and it hasn’t been turned on, which mean management either aren’t showing their staff how to set it up, or management don’t ask their staff to check the set up at the start of the day. Wastes my time and ruins my training. I’ve given up.
Negative experience: The kids pool is made shallower for swimming lessons...but at no other times do they do it for kids public swimming so I am unable to take him there. Seems weird.
Positive experience: Went for the bouncy castle which is great. The cafe area could do with a good clean though. Was there at 9am and would have expected the area to be clean at that time. Friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, spacious with many equipment. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Positive experience: Gym have a good equipment, Swimming pool the best time to go: morning or past 7:30 pm Showers need more cleaning and steam room
Negative experience: Another venue being destroyed by its car park managed by a scam third party. You will be told you're entitled to free parking if you enter your number plate into a small computer near reception. Enter it all you want, you will still get a £100 fine a month later from Smart Parking. Leisure centre not interested and Scam parking certainly aren't. It's pay the fine or we send bailiffs to collect it. All this because I took 5 year old for a swimming lesson.
Fantastic experience: Has everything you need. Gym equipment is well kept and modern for the total price you get a lot for your money and the staff members are friendly and helpful
Negative experience: Pool is great, shame about the stains on society that run the car park.
Fantastic experience: Nice leisure centre with great facilities for games.
Negative experience: Stunning facilities, two pools. Shame the kids lessons are run without parents being able to enter the pool with their kids and the instructors lack any warmth or kindness towards helping less confident children enter the water. Felt like a burden. Wouldn’t recommend.
Fantastic experience: Went for the inflatables session (like a mini, child-friendly version of Wipeout). Daughter (6) cried when we had to leave as she loved it so much. Safe (everyone wears vests). Will definitely be going again!
Positive experience: OK ish but jesus christ the price just for the gym is way too much
Negative experience: I was happy, until I realised despite paying £41 a month there is hardly no swimming sessions for adult swimmers who aren’t confident in lane swimming. This means your throwing money away. I’ve got my local MP involved as this is connected to Bristol City Council
Fantastic experience: Great fun at the inflatable waterpark here recently. Very well run and safe too. The parking in the underground car park opposite is free if you are visiting the leisure centre by the way, just enter your reg at reception ☺️
Fantastic experience: Great gym, great amenities, but you're either all or nothing with this place, so make sure you pick wisely, I've been with them 2 years now, prices increase and if you don't go often you'll be wasting money but it really is a good gym
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool with inflatables to play on. There is a gym and tennis and lots more to see and do. Very friendly staff
Negative experience: Don't risk the parking £170 fine after using the machine as indicated. Terrible treatment of legit customers, being threatened hounded and chased, the leisure center does't care say they have sorted but people are being completely screwed because of their own machines, can't call them they don't answer, 15 times yesterday no one answered, can never face parking there again, its all utterly terrifying do you pay something not true- £170!!!!! or live in this terror people are going to come to your house and take your stuff.
Positive experience: Good facilities Few depths of pools to choose from theres also a gym inside and other facilities cafe with drinks and snacks in the pack but is very expensive for what it is plenty of parkimg close by and within walking distance of a local park( for people with children)
Negative experience: Tried calling 3 seperate times this morning 28/06/23. 10.01, 11.06, and 12.24 no one picks up. Waited for 3-4 minutes each time whilst it continued to ring.
Fantastic experience: Went for a look around. Great facilities. Spoke to Joe, super nice guy!
Fantastic experience: I used the teaching pool to practice swimming, it was really nice and well taken care of
Positive experience: The pool is fantastic, never been I the gym as I think it's on the more expensive side
Negative experience: COLD SWIMMING POOL. The kids pool was so cold our daughter had blue lips and was shivering. When we asked at reception about it, the women said it was normal. The lifeguard said he gets asked all the time about the temperature.
Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Hengrove Swimming enough! My daughter has been attending lessons here for several months now, and she absolutely loves it. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly supportive, making each lesson an enjoyable experience for her. The facilities at Hengrove Swimming are top-notch, with clean and well-maintained pools that are perfect for learners of all ages and skill levels. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to make sure that each student is comfortable and confident in the water. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with Hengrove Swimming. The instructors are highly skilled, the facilities are exceptional, and the overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I am so glad that we found this swimming school, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic swimming experience. Thank you, Hengrove Swimming, for providing such an outstanding service!
Negative experience: I have been visiting this place for a month now… Good things: Very lovely customer services, great people and very helpful. Bad Stuff: Never clean, dirt everywhere. Went to steam room and someone left the nose buggies, never ive seen a cleaner, bad smell, dirty floor, changing room never cleaned, shower rooms smell… If you pay, you deserve cleanness… I dont know my comments will help things work … i dont understand why 2 security officers are on the door instead no cleaner… A bit disappointed… Please guys look after hygiene its important for peoples’ wellbeing :)
Fantastic experience: Superb swimming facility with free car parking and a cheap café.
Negative experience: Took my 1 year old today in the family pool and it was so cold he was shivering and his lips were turning blue!
Negative experience: As a member you can't have a workout then go swimming straight after unless you "book" in this day and age I haven't got time to guess when I'm going to the gym or fancy a swim which could be anytime. Seems like private swimmers, non members are priority most of the time.
Positive experience: Great pool! But check times as there are limitations! I went in at 7.15 got kicked out at 7.30. As they needed to set up inflatables! They did refund! But if told I could of waited till next session! Also what kid is up that early to go swimming on inflatables!!
Fantastic experience: Good place to go for swimming. Do not park in the car park, otherwise you may get a ticket. If you're coming by car, park by Cineworld, and walk through the park.
Positive experience: Room ok. Breakfast was badly organised, cold and undercooked. As there was a swimming event on, prices were inflated.
Positive experience: Much better since they added the bouncy castle for kids to play it, always seemed a bit dead inside but now it's very lively and fun
Fantastic experience: The place is fantastic, the swimming pools are big, there are like 3 of the. The swimming classes are finally something real, teachers seem to care. The staff im reception is very nice. They also have an inflatable in the cafe, so kids love it.
