Our comment from FitFit UK about Bramcote Leisure Centre:
Bramcote Leisure Centre, located in Nottingham, is a popular destination for fitness enthusiasts and families alike. Visitors often praise the friendly and helpful staff who create a welcoming environment. The centre boasts good facilities including a swimming pool, gym, and various activities suitable for all ages.
Many users appreciate the reasonable membership fees and the variety of swimming lessons available for children, which help develop their confidence in the water. The centre is also home to the Bramcote Swimming Club, providing excellent coaching for swimmers at all levels.
However, some users have expressed concerns regarding the condition of the facilities. Reports indicate that the building could use a revamp, with issues such as uncomfortable seating, overflowing bins, and dirty changing rooms noted. Furthermore, the booking system has been criticized for being cumbersome, and there have been instances of unsatisfactory experiences with staff at the reception.
Overall, while there are areas that need improvement, Bramcote Leisure Centre remains a vital resource for the community, offering accessible fitness options and a friendly atmosphere.
Bramcote Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Staff are very kind and helpful. Membership fees are reasonable. Facilities are excellent, although wanting a lick of paint. What's not to like?
Negative experience: I had been trying for that past 1 week to reach someone via Tele for help and no one cares to pick the call. Very disappointing
Fantastic experience: Good facilities, neat n clean.
Fantastic experience: great place. Love the width swim, but only one evening a week. Would love more evening width swims though please. They're so in demand! Like gold dust!
Negative experience: My daughter is a member and had burnt her hand before going gym. She tried to do a gym session as she only can when I babysit and this was her only day this week. However, its was hurting her so much she had to end her session. Then in distress asked if she could have hot water needed for baby bottle and they said she had to pay 2.00 from the machine. She had no cash and we had to drive to Tesco in distress as wound hurting and baby crying for bottle. What has happened in society when the rules and policies dont have any flexibility, it's such a inhumane way to work when rigid rules are geared up to only make money and has lost compassion. We re canceling membership from today.
Negative experience: Came here for a swimming competition. Place needs a revamp. Seating is extremely uncomfortable, lane ropes need replacing, bins were overflowing, changing roms unclean and whole place needs a repaint. Would not pay for my daughter to compete here again.
Positive experience: Lovely staff, place could do with a revamp as everywhere smells musty. Facilities ok, wish they did an evening Aqua but fees were reasonable. Will join at some point
Fantastic experience: All staff is Friendly and professional from reception to instructors and lifeguards, good facilities, nice place to swim, great swimming lessons all 10 levels, rookies ,and many more other activities. This is also the home for Bramcote Swimming Club.
Negative experience: Staff was horrible got screamed at the cubicles were dirty as hell its just a bad place to swim go to the beach or something just not here
Fantastic experience: Plenty of free parking friendly staff and clean and spacious changing facilities
Fantastic experience: Good facilities, friendly staff, easy parking
Fantastic experience: Popular leisure centre with a wide range of activities. We went swimming in the splash pool with the kids and lane swimming in the adults section. Best to book and pay online via the Liberty Leisure app. Plenty of free parking.
Fantastic experience: How Scuba Diving Club have just moved here & it offers everything we need. The Centre also offers a Great Gym deep swimming pool in a brilliant location
Negative experience: Came here to swim with our baby. 40 min later, it turns out the cashier cannot read the calendar and there’s no pool we can use. Love the sheer incompetence and willingness to waste people’s time. We are lucky that our baby is too young to understand these situations, so at least it was only us who left sad and deeply disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Lovely facility. Have plenty of swimming lessons for kids.
Fantastic experience: My local for leisure centre good for me
Negative experience: Everything broken in the gym all must..along with not in off light and the toilet stinks..shame coz could be a grate place really
Negative experience: Very tired building and facilities which is a shame as it could be great! It used to be great!!
Fantastic experience: Have my children's swimming lessons here and still come twice every week despite moving out of area because the lessons are just so good. Loads of choice for timings, really reasonably priced and the kids have grown so confident in water having come since they were 4-5 months old.
Positive experience: Swimming, spa and gym but can get busy during peak times and seems to take a long time to fix things
Fantastic experience: Best privately owned leisure centre in Bramcote
Positive experience: Staff can be miserable, but not all, some don't smile and or say hi back, maybe I'm not cool enough. Virtual spinning room never set up properly, lucky I know how to put the equipment on. Wouldn't go here if my life wasn't busy and I only have a short time at lunch to exercise. I think the management should take a look at the wish wall and listen to customers, as I'm told it hasn't been looked at since April. Annoying to pay all that money every month and things don't work.
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pools with good access for my disabled child.
Negative experience: Absolutely nasty swimming pool , unlimited people booking and really mess
Positive experience: Great little leisure centre. Bit tired looking but gym is great, classes are great and the instructors are spot on.
Fantastic experience: Very clean facilities. Graham on reception was very helpful. As it was our first visit to the centre, we were very impressed. Well done!
Negative experience: pool under chlorinated, check in system is stupid
Fantastic experience: nice place use the gym a lot and the sauna just a shame the steam room isn’t working in the spa ☹️
Positive experience: Good place but need to refurbishment
Positive experience: Facilities are worn down and some are broken. I pay a membership fee hoping to use the spa pool only to discover it’s closed for an undisclosed amount of time. My son has swimming lessons here and massively enjoys it. The staff are friendly enough. The computer booking system is a bit clunky but over all it’s a ok place to take my son to swim. It would have more stars if it were a bit more modernised. They re did the leisure centre in Sneinton a few years ago and it is lovely. Bramcote is in need of the same treatment.
Positive experience: Pretty par for the course as far as leisure centres go. The staff interactions tend to be a bit flat and to the point. Good value for money in the family swim sessions house (£5.40 for a parent and child for 45 mins).
Fantastic experience: I routinely come here and I have to say the service from Finlay and Hattie is always great always happy for a chat and help me with whatever I need. Brilliant
Fantastic experience: Basic but clean. Friendly staff who explain now everything works. No cafe but there are vending machines. You have to bring your own soap, towel and £1 for lockers though.
Positive experience: Good clean pool. Friendly staff. Changing rooms could be cleaner, but was mid afternoon on a busy day
Positive experience: Great leasure center, however pool and gym could be bigger and better
Positive experience: I've gotta say it's really gone down hill, the people there are 5 star, facilities are good ,but it's filthy ,sauna steam room yuk ,mushrooms growing behind the water cooler upstairs not good guys
Negative experience: Overcharged me by £96 for my child's swimming lessons on 22nd March. They promised a refund as "a matter of urgency". After trying to contact them numerous times via email and phone I am still waiting on June 7th. Poor.
Negative experience: Don't go swimming. Chlorine levels are so dangerously low in the pool that algae is growing. Showers don't work and changing rooms are a fair walk. Such a shame, otherwise lovely staff!
Fantastic experience: Best place for all your keeping fit needs and more
Fantastic experience: It’s a good gym - well equipped with friendly staff. Workouts are personalised if you want them to be. There are a wide variety of classes.
Negative experience: Absolutely useless at answering their phones!
Negative experience: We came here as a family for a swim session as our usual place was booked up. It was cheaper than other leisure centres we have been to. We understood why, after we left. The place looked so run down. Mainly the pool/spectators area. The filters in the pool need a good clean! There are no private showers, so you can't wash yourself properly. We won't be back!
Fantastic experience: Good
Fantastic experience: We come here Semi regularly for the float play with my youngest
Negative experience: A Manager called Jo appalling manager according to the leisure centre swearing is prohibited I asked for a rule book and then got told there was no rule and it was just frowned upon but tried to enforce it telling me I am not allowed to swear pulled me and my friend into a private room with the manager she continued to laugh and smile and to be sarcastic aggravating us never coming here again we are never allowed our own time the staff have to always be up in our business.
Positive experience: Visited for swim
Fantastic experience: It's got a great gym and yoga sessions etc love it
Positive experience: Good local leisure centre. Gym, swimming and classes.
Positive experience: Went to swimming training great atmosphere
Positive experience: I've only been here a few times. There are lots of equipment and the gym has different sections, so there is room for all. Spa needs a bit of updating, and I wish there were more cleaning materials as not everyone cleans up after themselves. But, for the price paid, it's a good gym with a variety of classes.
Positive experience: Bit run down and lots of classes cancelled
Positive experience: Great
Positive experience: Mid ash
Positive experience: I booked for the spa. No details given about the sauna or aromatherapy room being out of action at the time of booking. The staff didn't say anything when I checked in. Only the steam room available. ☹️ Talked to other customers and they'd been out of action for a while.
Positive experience: A bit tatty
Negative experience: Swim session is fine (parent & toddler) but the changing facilities are awful, there's very few with a baby change table in and even fewer with enough room for you to have the baby change down to put baby on and then get changed yourself. You'd think with it supposed to be family friendly the actually baby change changing rooms would be big enough for a baby & atleast 1 adult but preferably 2. If you don't get one you waste your time & money having to wait for one. Also have to agree with other reviews about one of the ladies on reception being very rude.
Negative experience: The pool and session are fine for us with 2 babies but one lady on reception is so unbelievably rude when we come on a Sunday morning. She Huff's and puff's serving people like you are inconveniencing her day. We asked her to help us with the children's card you can pay for that makes swimming cheaper when we finished our session as we had tried multiple times online and it wouldn't do it. She went yeah it's all online so we explained we had tried and it doesnt do it. She said well you can use our iPad and smirked and said well that's all I can do and laughed ♀️. I was absolutely disgusted and what annoyed me more is whilst we were in the queue before we went swimming she did it for someone else!! Hence why I asked. So if your face fits with her your fine... It's really put me off how rude she is to everyone unless you face fits which is disappointing as everything else is fine. It really is annoying as it was great here for swimming but do I want to spend my money somewhere when the main person who greets you, laughs in your face and doesn't want to give any customer service when she is in a customer services role?!?
Positive experience: Wish the session was longer then 45 minutes
Fantastic experience: Been going to this place for over 50 years, memorable moments, my swimming gala where I did the breast stroke and everyone else crawled, the time when it went all swingery in the evening with mixed naked couples, that was an eye opener, running home from school to catch the bus and get the first afternoon swim when no one was in, walking over from Bramcote Grammar for PE swimming and being told all the girls were eyeing up my todger and finally me spending an entire afternoon in the pool doing my 5 miles badge and being the only one in Primary School to get it, oh and riding the swimming bus with Karen Cobb my childhood sweetheart heart who never knew it.
Positive experience: Great pool but seating and pool changing layout could do with sorting out. There is space for more seating
Fantastic experience: Been a member for many years as a swimmer. Good staff and very obliging over our Monday morning coffee meetings.
Positive experience: The swimming lessons are excellent and we can not recommend Zoe enough as a teacher. She is brilliant! The changing rooms always have a funny drain smell and staff work hard cleaning the area frequently. The viewing gallery to watch swimming lessons is always so hot especially in the summer. The facilities could do with being modernised
Fantastic experience: Took the granddaughter for some splash play. Helpful staff and warm pool. Looking tired though, and steps aren't easy to exit pool. Granddaughter loved it and didnt want to leave lol.
Positive experience: Could do with a bit more sprucing up. Otherwise good facilities and a good number of changing rooms.
Positive experience: Easy to book online swimming session. Changing rooms clean. Pool clean but surrounding areas very run down
Negative experience: The spa facilities went downhill in the last three years. You never know whether it will be broken when you turn up. The council doesn't care due to the running cost, which is a shame. The council need a lesson in economics and how to manage the business effectively. Reducing the amount of available facilities will not attract more money! It will attract more disappointed customers who will cancel their DD.
Negative experience: More and more difficult to actually access the leisure centre activities post Covid. It feels like the centre has become staff centred rather than customer centred. Having to book online and the website only allowing you to book one person at a time then log off and log on again to book another person displays a system not fit fit purpose. Meanwhile swim times are really short (45mins) and even in the holidays when there activities are needed, only available for children very infrequently. It’s a shame the local authority seem to be putting up barriers to children accessing the leisure centre rather than making it easier in a time of record levels of child obesity. No wonder fewer and fewer people seem to be using it. Requires significant improvement!
Negative experience: I don't feel comfortable attending fitness classes here, if Sally is the instructor. I left this gym 5 years ago due to her and another instructor monopolising the classes. I rejoined last year as due to an existing knee injury felt I'd be well served by swimming, but any classes I attend will be at Chilwell. The biggest endictment is that I've on a number of occasions done a class at Chilwell and gone to the sauna at Bramcote, as opposed to both a class and sauna session at the same leisure center. Someone else told me that Sally still behaves obnoxiously and a few have been put off attending classes here. They need to be less vague on who takes certain classes without a fixed instructor. Facilities could also do with a spruce up.
Fantastic experience: Its a little tired maybe but the staff more than make up for it
Fantastic experience: Wonderful. Such friendly staff. The place really needs a make over as very dated but serves a purpose. Thank you. I will be back
Negative experience: My daughter has swimming lessons here. The teachers are great and the staff are excellent and keep it as clean as they possibly can. However the building is showing signs of wear and needs refurbishment inside and out!
Positive experience: Looking a bit tired now, hopefully a new leisure centre coming soon nothing has changed
Positive experience: Great pool area for kids. Clean changing rooms. Only problem is booking system where you have to book each person in family separately which means paying by card 4 times in our case. My bank starts to question after the 2nd online payment of a small amount to the same people. And putting card details in 4 times is a pain. Time for an update of you want to keep the online booking element.
Positive experience: Actually managed to book in and get a swim which is more than I can say for some other swimming baths. The changing rooms are a maze though
Positive experience: My daughter has swimming lessons here. Staff brilliant and changing rooms always clean
Positive experience: The kids swim lessons here are good and affordable. The splash pool gets a bit crowded, but the lane swimming is good. Haven't been to their gym.
Positive experience: Cant believe you got rid of the slides! I loved them as a kid and brought my daughter here to take her on them but I must be years late seemed to have been gone a long time shame really was one of the best slides in Nottingham.
Positive experience: Gym and other facilities are Good Staff on reception are very helpful, vending machines in waiting area doesnt got car payment, That's is a major negative point with current circumstances, I think they should look into this
Fantastic experience: Is a well run leisure center with friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and good classes
Fantastic experience: Good facilities. Great swimming pool. Excellent place for swimming lessons, great swimming teachers. Plenty of swimming sessions for all ages and levels. Highly recommend this leisure centre.
Fantastic experience: All staff are very friendly and helpful.
Positive experience: A bit run down but a valuable resource for locals, polite staff
Fantastic experience: Great swimming instructors Fun Variety of facilities
Negative experience: Used to go here before the pandemic.really enjoyed the facilities...however went today for the lane swimming and was told by the rude lady on the desk that its card only as she pointed to the signs..as we only had cash we obviously couldn't swim...i tried to book online whilst I was there but its so hard...but very very unhelpful staff there......I'm sure u can pay cash now its ridiculous u r still making people pay by card.
Positive experience: Terrible website. I can't believe it's so difficult to use and that they haven't bothered to update it a year after the pandemic started. I'm afraid Covid cannot be an excuse for poor service forever!! The pool is lovely though.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful park and woodland. You could easily spend hours wandering here. Great for dogs and a good playground for the kids too. Often there us a stall selling coffees, tea hot chocolate, milkshakes etc. and the guy running is thoughrouly pleasant (and accepts card payments). If your up for more adventure you can criss the road to thr Hemlock Stone and Stapleford Hill woods too which links up to the old Nottingham Canal too (keep an eye out for the cyclists in the woods for your own safety and also to admire some pretty awesome tricks and air).
Fantastic experience: Great leisure.centre with everything you need
Fantastic experience: First time here today went to a parent and toddler session daughter loved it and great value for money, will be a weekly visit in the future
Fantastic experience: Great pools, friendly staff
Fantastic experience: You have to book ahead to swim and you are allotted time slots.
Positive experience: It's a bit dated but the staff are lovely and it's clean
Negative experience: If your not a proud nudist, wouldn't recommend. Was not impressed with the shower facilities being one shower that's open with people queuing waiting for you to finish. Gym facilities were great though.
Negative experience: Pool is good and the staff are nice, but the process for booking and their app/website are so awful it makes you not want to attend; the details on the app and website don't match, the descriptions don't match, the times don't match, the duration of the sessions don't match and the payment system breaks often. The process for booking something as simple as a family swim requires you guess which session you want (main pool on the app, splash pool on the website, an hour on app, 45min on the website) and login and pay and logout four different times. This isn't the fault of the staff - if you ask them to clarify they're usually as confused as you are - it's the fault of whomever at Ileisure is running the place. This is a real shame because, baffling management aside, it's a very good leisure centre.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding
Positive experience: Very welcoming on a first visit and nice, clean set up.
Positive experience: Wonderful facilities but one thing that confused me is that the main swimming lane is for 16+ and the other is for 12 and under leaving 13-15 year olds with nothing. What’s worse is that when 13-15 year olds can swim its mostly in school hours. A bit flawed. Secondly the spaces get booked up way to quick when, on the day, there’s barely anyone there. It doesn’t make sense to me. I wouldn’t recommend going here if there are other options. Gyms like puregym and especially the Clifford health club and spar that are way better both price and facilities wise.
Fantastic experience: Great systems in place. Always very friendly staff. Plenty of parking.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities available with helpful and friendly staff. A good place to help you work on whatever you want to achieve or just as a place to have fun with friends and family.
Negative experience: Gym is too old, dirty and not equipped well. They don't even provide free wifi. It's like stepping into the 1990s. Recently it's full of teens at the busiest times who just mess about and show off instead of working out in an already limited space. As for the booking site, it's constantly not accessible.
