Our comment from FitFit UK about Parkside Pools and Gym:

Parkside Pools and Gym is a popular sports facility located in the heart of Cambridge, UK, offering a wide variety of swimming options and gym services suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Visitors often praise the friendly staff and the fun atmosphere, especially for families with children. The center features multiple pools, including a 25-meter main pool, a dedicated toddler pool with slides, and a diving pool. Many users appreciate the activities available, such as swim lessons for all levels.

On the positive side:

  • Good variety of pools catering to different activities.
  • Helpful staff and friendly environment.
  • Fun features like slides and organized swim sessions for kids.
  • Newer gym equipment and a café for visiting families.
  • Great for casual family swimming sessions during weekends.

However, there are several areas that need improvement:

  • Visitors frequently report cleanliness issues in the changing rooms and showers, with hair and dirt present.
  • The booking system is often criticized for being complicated and leading to confusion.
  • Facilities can feel cramped, especially during busy times, with reports of overcrowding in the pools.
  • The time restrictions on swim sessions (often just 50 minutes) have also been a common complaint.
  • There are concerns about the condition of some locker facilities and equipment.

Overall, Parkside Pools and Gym is a significant community resource that provides good swimming opportunities and gym access. While it receives mixed reviews, improvements in cleanliness and management could enhance customer experiences significantly.

Parkside Pools and Gym: Opinions

3.3/5 (200 Opinions)

Fantastic experience: Perfect

Fazilet Gökbudak 9 months ago

Negative experience: The pool is not clean, it is so easy to get infection from the pool. The changing rooms were smelling urine today. The showers and the toilets are worse than the pool. Also, there is no limit on the number of people using the pool/lane at the same time. I believe there were more than 50 people today at 8am session. It’s pity as I love swimming but the management does seem to take advantage of offering the only pool of the city and not really doing anything apart from accepting as many swimmers as possible to the pool..

Ilona Goriachikh 10 months ago

Negative experience: My last visit was in August this year. I will not go to this pool again, although I wanted to swim there. The bottom of the pool is not cleaned, there is a lot of sand/small debris/leaves/hair, plasters from other people's wounds... The water is very chlorinated, my atopic skin reacts with redness and peeling. I also did not like swimming in water where people do not collect their hair in a swimming cap or hairstyle, because these long hairs wrap around your arms and legs when you swim I also noticed a lot of people who walk barefoot and they have obvious problems with the skin of their feet and nails, and it is very easy to get an infection in the humid environment of the pool. The showers are always dirty, hair on the walls, clogged drains and mold on the walls. On the plus side, you no longer need to carry a 20p coin to use a hair dryer, the old hair dryers in the pool have been replaced with new ones.

Positive experience: Good swimming pool. The price is a little bit expensive. The belts separating lanes are too rigids and not very well designed because it may hurt slightly hands.

Salvatore Urbonavicius 11 months ago

Negative experience: Amazingly bad experience... No announcement on the web site that the swimming pool is closed until midday 02.11.24 due Halloween ??? Just sentence "Any time" and opening hours 08:00 - 17:00. How to assume that ?

Janka Bergner 11 months ago

Negative experience: The facilities are just awful. Dirty floors, the changing rooms stank. Only tiny benches in the oversubscribed changing rooms. No hooks to hang your dry stuff up so you end up having to put it on the dirty wet floors. This seems to be generally the case in public swimming pools around Cambridge. It makes it such a stressful experience when coming with small kids.

Veronica Henderson 1 year ago

Positive experience: I am impressed at how they generally manage large numbers and different activities in the pools - but I wish the lifeguards would try harder to keep fast swimmers out of the slow lane. We shouldn't have to pluck up courage to ask.... If you change the speed of a lane, blow a whistle and tell the swimmers..... once swimming, they are not necessarily going to see that you have changed the sign.... Why are so many toilets out of use ..... hairdryers failing..... slow to repair? And please don't just clean the floors in the changing areas. You need to wipe down the walls - some have gore from periods left on them for weeks on end, on cubicle walls. Chewing gum in corners is also a fixed feature.... cleaning standards need to be far higher. And why is check in not always recorded, even if checked in at the desk AHEAD of the start time? Wifi gates frequently fail too.... So check in needs to be sorted. So far it's only failed for swimming visits, so no fine, but I would be very cross if a class were not recorded correctly. That would trigger a fine. So, Better, you really do need to do better in these areas.

Fantastic experience: Helen the swimming teacher was excellent, highly recommend! Will be going back in a few weeks when back in Cambridge.

Mei (Sam Horman) 1 year ago

Positive experience: It's okay, there are two pools one for laps one for kids playing, the temperature and cleanliness of the pools are great, the flumes or slides are fun and stable and reasonably clean. Good for all ages and abilities and the staff are all very nice The changing rooms are questionable in size and sanitation but okay, I recommend flip flops or pool socks though... Gyms all good quality equipment and nicely lay out, although it's small. Changing rooms for girls is small and there's not much privacy in there. Overall good Prices are okay as well Fun special events eg cancer research fundraisers are great for kids day out!

Annette Schaefer-Seidel 1 year ago

Positive experience: A pool near the centre of Cambridge. I went there for lane swimming. All good. The only BUT is the cleanness of the changing and shower area. Here would some effort be necessary to bring it back to a clean area

Lewis Carter-Carey 1 year ago

Positive experience: Fun for kids, not very clean does not smell great. Staff trying to clean changing rooms whilst people getting changed.

Hamish Robertson 1 year ago

Negative experience: Liked going here until the homeless guy who sleeps where the bike racks are starting harassing me for no reason. If this gets sorted the review will be improved as it's a decent gym.

Fantastic experience: Laid back

Leanne Holroyd 1 year ago

Positive experience: Friendly staff and plenty of changing spaces and lockers for all. Mostly clean and acceptable but would be aided by customers/swimmers/spectators removing their shoes before entering the changing rooms. There is a dedicated space for this with signage, coat hooks and shoe space but you could always take your stuff to a locker if you didn't feel comfortable leaving them. I use a trolly pound so I never have to worry about having change. Overall, great pool at 25m with lane separation for swim for fitness and swim for all lanes when it's open for that in school holidays. They have a great range of activities and play sessions and also swim lessons for adults and babies alike. Would definitely recommend. There's also a gym upstairs and a lovely cafe in the foyer.

Ash Riches 1 year ago

Negative experience: Was told diving boards was on but they're never open to public. Changing rooms wasn't the cleanest and small pool the lanes aren't very wide ypu could swim past somebody definitely single lane.

Helen Birdsall 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: My son trains here daily. There are two Flumes and a diving pool. Great pool and cafe.

Justin Jones 1 year ago

Negative experience: Refuse to accept cash, leaving a 3 year old in tears utter disgrace. Then add a fee on card payments says £6 swim takes £6.20. Cambridge City Council pushing the anti cash agenda.

Macaulay Nicholls 1 year ago

Positive experience: Over priced for only 45mins in a just above cold toddler pool. A lot different to how it was when i was a child. But my daughter enjoys going so… ‍♂️

Tomasz Piątek 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Well equipped gym with plenty of classes. Swimming pool is very nice as well.

Jessica Alice 1 year ago

Negative experience: Was told to leave after 20 minutes of entering the pool with no other instructions other then “everyone needs to get out” the lifeguards was offhand and unhelpful, was allowed back in after 10 minutes with no further instructions after they had put out an open pool sign. The main pool was far too cold to swim in and as for the children’s pool, a baby in there had blue lips… air temperature was also just too cold. Facilities filthy, jacuzzi wasn’t working. Won’t be going back

Victoria London 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Helpful staff, great pool, the kids love the slides!

Nadia Teague 1 year ago

Negative experience: Pool is 25 metres, and serves its purpose of going for a swim work out. The pool is let down by the rest of the facilities. The changing rooms are dirty, and badly maintained. Toilets do not have locks that work or exist. If the changing rooms had more TLC I'd go back.

Alexey Klimov 1 year ago

Negative experience: A lot of black mould in the shower. Be careful. It's sad and disappointing that it's not cleaned and it's probably a danger to people.

Aleksandr Iushmanov 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I like this swimming pool. There is a variety of services and a car park with reasonable price (be aware of narrow parking spaces)

Rose Hughes 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Nice pool. Clean and kept in reasonable condition with a nice cafe. Can be busy after work.

joshua coull 1 year ago

Negative experience: The pool is a gokd one especially for kids but the green flume is a painful one as the joins scrape your back as you go down. My children and myself had scratches/red marks from it. Also the steps up to the flume are disgusting, covered in brown stagnant water leaking from pipes above and not able to drain. The staircase is made of a sandpaper like material which is painful to walk on and the lifeguard has not screen just has to rely on checking the end of the flume and hoping no one runs past them.

Positive experience: Nice pool, always enough room for a swim. Not the cleanest changing rooms or floor, but not too bad. Staff are all very helpful.

Positive experience: A great Council provision managed by GLL. Warm water for babies in the splash pool, 2 slides which are really good and a casual swim pool. A third dedicated pool also available for lane swimmers. Lockers access is bit cramped and is a refundable £1. Lots of family changing areas. Adjacent paid car parking.

Positive experience: The toddler slapsh pool was a little colder than last time I went. The top jacuzzi bubbles area was not on. On the plus side it was not busy so me and my little one had lots of space. They did also have a box of about 5 toys by the pool that we used. Changing rooms were clean. Locker worked, cost was good value in my opinion.

Negative experience: The worst. Imagine paying 38 pounds per month as a student for a gym that’s dirty, falling to pieces and overall just very run down. The changing rooms and toilets are not clean, half of them don’t even have a lock, and the quality of the facilities and equipment is very poor. The weights area couldn’t be smaller with just 1 squat rack… Just save yourself the money and effort and join pure gym, much cleaner, better equipped and and half the price

Negative experience: Not great! 3 ellipticals available, 2 have been out of order for the last couple of months. Same with other equipment…out of order for long periods of time! Signs telling you to clean equipment after using it, but no cleaning supplies provided or if you find a bottle…it’s empty! Dirt around the equipment and when I walked in today it smelled like spoiled milk in here! Way too many kids using the gym, unsupervised! I appreciate the outdoor section of the gym, that is nice to have in warm weather! For the price they charge, this is unacceptable! The management should do a better job in making sure equipment is fixed in timely manner and gym kept clean!

Positive experience: Big Pool is 20m, then a child and toddler pools. Diving just for classes, but water slides are open. Looks like it's not been maintained since reopening over 20 years ago, so scruffy and not especially clean. But it's a great facility in the city centre. Needs prebookiing and opening times are limited. City council: can you do better?

Negative experience: The reception staff seem unhelpful and disengaged, as if you've interrupted their Instagram browsing. Very COLD! The air conditioning is active, and it's so cold that even the lifeguards indoors are bundled up in jackets. Very COLD! The kids' pool is consistently closed despite having members of stuff around. Very COLD! The toddler pool is occupied with swimming lessons, but despite four kids with parents present, the instructor monopolizes the entire pool, displaying selfish and inconsiderate behavior. Very COLD! The adult pool is predominantly used by adults (90%), leaving only 10% for toddlers. While the cold water is bearable when swimming, trying to keep an eye on a toddler in one spot is downright freezing. Very COLD! In general, it leaves a negative impression, but the cost aligns with the quality received. You pay less, you get less. Very COLD!!

Fantastic experience: Quite spacious pool with different sections. I am currently learning to swim, and the instructors a very good at what they do. Positive experience: The pool and flumes are great but the booking system is crazy. Why would you have separate bookings for the two pools? We had to get out of the smaller pool for 10 minutes 'because we hadn't booked' during which time the pool was completely empty. We really enjoyed our visit but it seems like a very inefficient and unnecessarily complicated way to manage users?

Parkside Pools and Gym
Parkside Pools and Gym

Thank you for your feedback Ellen. Our centre tends to get very busy during weekends and holidays so to avoid going over bather loads we have a set amount of availability for each of the pools. Where we are able to we do allow people to use the other pools to try give the best experience we can but we need to prevent an overlap of people.

Negative experience: Booked and paid for a swim session for my daughter with 14 spaces available. A couple of hours before the session was due to start I get an email (which could easily not have been seen for hours, no phone call) saying the booking was cancelled. Not possible to contact the centre to find out what was happening as you only get a remote customer support person. Eventually get a pathetic brief email response from manager Oli saying was overbooked (why?!) and soz won’t happen again… with no explanation of how it happened or what they would do to prevent a recurrence. But no they said it won’t so that must be true… Completely unreliable if you want to book a fun activity for your child and not have to let them down.

Positive experience: The service provided needs work. When I arrived, the lady on reception had to call her colleague over to serve me as she had ink all over hands which is fine. After going into the centre, I followed the signs towards the changing rooms but ended up going upstairs imto the gym before I was pointed in the right direction. I also didnt feel very safe when i used the waterslide as due to my weight it felt like i was thrown around a lot in the slide and it felt so unsafe that I had to sit down for a mo. When I came out of the pool, I asked a member of staff if I was able to dry my swimming costume anywhere I'm order to remove the excess water. The staff member must have misunderstood me as he pointed me in the direction of reception to gain a trolley token for the lockers. All in all, it's not the best pool and I will be thinking twice before I go back.

Positive experience: We took our 6 month old swimming for the first time here, it was ok but the pool was cold so after 20 minutes we was done and ready to get out, we read that the baby pool would be 30 degrees and this was not the case. It was so overcrowded people were accidentally bashing into me. And bigger kids were jumping in the pool and splashing the babies, for some that may be suitable but for us it unfortunately it wasn’t ideal and lifeguard wasn’t bothered.

Thank you for your feedback Ashey and sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. All our pools are set at different temperatures appropriate for the sessions they hold. Our Main Pool is set at 27 degrees for the more active swimmers, the dive pool is set at 29 degrees for the Swim for All sessions with the younger children and the Toddler Pool is set at 30 degrees. These are all above the suggested UK temperatures, I would suggest using one of our other pools for a session with your children.

Fantastic experience: Parkside pools are a great set of 3 swimming pools in the centre of Cambridge. They have one toddler pool, one diving and shallow pool, and the main pool which is a standard 25 pool. This pool is also at a good depth for jumping in. The diving pool is heated and the main pool is not. Furthermore, on weekends I would recommend booking as it can get very busy. Normal sessions are 1 hour but most of the time they do not enforce this. They mainly enforce this when it is very busy. Overall parkside pools are grate for all the family. I would recommend to anyone who wants to go swimming in Cambridge. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Negative experience: TODDLER POOL NOT SAFE FOR BABIES AND SMALL CHILDREN. There is a really nice small toddler pool for children under 5. It's temperature appropriate for small babies and has some nice sensory play features. Unfortunately, the lifeguards do not stop people over 5 from using the toddler pool, despite the signs. When larger children, teenagers and adults start using the toddler pool it quickly becomes dangerous for small babies. Because the other pools in the centre are colder it is not possible to take babies into the other pools. I was forced to leave the pool because it was not safe to take my baby into the toddler pool. The pool had older children running through it and making large splashes. A group of teenagers dominated the bubble pool preventing others from using it and adults were using the shallow pool to float in. I asked the lifeguard to enforce the age limit rule because it wasn't safe for the babies and she said that she wouldn't. This is completely unacceptable. The lifeguards main duty is to ensure a safe environment! I tried to make a complaint at reception but they clearly couldn't care less.

Michal Bozek 2 years ago

Negative experience: Lifefuards there are very bad. My step daughter needed to help one boy who jumped to big swimming pool and he didn't know how to swimm, all lifeguards didn't know what to do.

Positive experience: Really nice swim with two young boys in the toddler/baby pool. Also our 3year old loved the flumes. Thank you. A few things for constructive criticism really, We got to the pool area at 2.55 for our 3pm slot. Big sign saying pool closed! Really! You need to let people know when it is reopen and lifeguards will be back on the poolside. There were a few people not quite knowing what was going on. The walkway between where the showers and pool area was very slippy. We found this a little hazardous- maybe some sort of rubber mats, slip prevention would be good. The changing room facilities were fine except for the floors were quite untidy, with old wrist bands, nappies etc. Fully understand it was quite a busy day and staff were doing other things but hygiene is pretty high on my list. Also - the Car Park entrances where the lifts are are absolutely disgusting- smelling of urine! I will not park in the car park again. Again, who ever manages the car park maintenance needs to up there job A LOT! Lots of room for improvement reference hygiene and cleanliness but enjoyed the swim none the less.

Fantastic experience: My 4 year old severely autistic nephew, my sister and I had a very pleasant visit at this pool. We had booked a slot for the ‘Swim For All’ (diving pool and main pool) and paid online the night before, however as we arrived the receptionist informed us that they had double booked the diving pool with a school class. She explained that we could use the main pool, however with my nephew being 4 years old and autistic, this would not be possible for us. He loves the water and we are working on his confidence in the pool as he is still quite weary. The receptionist then brought her manager over who offered to open up the Toddler Splash for us, which we were not expecting but were very grateful for. My nephew had a brilliant time in the pool, we had the Toddler Splash all to ourselves. We usually avoid this pool as my nephew often becomes unsure around other, smaller children. As we were approaching the showers after the session, a member of staff asked us if we would like to use the disabled shower which we were not even aware existed. This made showering much easier with my nephew. Overall, we were really pleased with the service we received on our visit. We realise that mistakes happen, and good customer service is all we can ask for! Would 100% recommend.

Fantastic experience: Good pool and gym. There are 3 pools, a large one for lane swimming, a small toddler pool, and a pool for lessons and diving as it has an adjustable floor. There's also a good gym and fitness classes. Changing rooms are large with separate male female and family areas.

Negative experience: Another “swimming” pool where you aren’t allowed to practice diving in from the side. They might as well ban entering the water altogether. Then they would be really safe. If bureaucratic nonsense is not entertainment enough, try out their lazy and unhelpful response to a perfectly reasonable request to practice dive entries with my son. They could easily have said “there’s a lane, use that for 20 minutes” but instead went with “no, now go away”. Great job guys.

Thank you for your review Amyas. This is because we go off Swim England Guidance, like most Swimming Pools in England do. It states in this guidance the following: 'Diving should not be allowed in pools where there is a forward clearance of less than 7.6 metres. This applies to both recreational and unprogrammed swimming (public/open sessions) and programmed session (swimming lessons).' Due to our own Risk Assessments we also do not allow Diving without a qualified diving instructor present. We also do not give out a whole lane unless it has been booked in advance. This is to make it fair to other people who have also paid for this session, and because we will need to reduce numbers before we can allow this. Please contact us at [email protected] for any further information.

Positive experience: Our local pool that the kids enjoy but the slide needs an overhaul, it's always dripping and looks a bit grim and since covid when you pay to swim, your band applies to one pool only,as opposed to before.

Positive experience: Great pool, sometimes there are too many lines so you cannot swim without hitting the line or another swimmer and many lockers lock are broken so I'm giving 4 stars. Amazing place to relax or swim to get your mind off learning, I like it there.

Negative experience: An incredibly infuriating experience trying to contact this facility. I wasted 15 minutes in a call tree unable to contact the team and then lost 6 pounds trying to move a booking. Waste of time and money and could be solved with a human based customer line. Frustrating corporatisation of pool experience - do ‘better’

Negative experience: We visited yesterday. The pool was good the flumes were open and the children and adults had great fun. Pool side it was really clean and tidy. The reason for only two stars is the changing facilities and the toilets were absolutely grim. Beyond grim they were absolutely filthy they beyond grime. They were smelly and the you see the grim in the changing area. Its completely put us off going again.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the Flumes and Swimming. We do try our hardest to maintain the changing area and are in the process of improving this for our customers. Hopefully next time you come your experience will be better with us.

Negative experience: if there was an option to leave a negative amount of stars, I would do so. that is how horrid my experience has been at parkside gym. firstly, unattentive staff, unless you are a junior attempting to enter on a Friday, Monday, Sunday, or Saturday. then all of a sudden they care about the health and safety of their patrons. the equipment is lacking, and the staff are just disgustingly useless. if you are trying to find a gym that actually cares about helping members get fitter, this gym is not for you. fat lady receptionist, if you're reading this, please get some gains. you work at a gym and have 30% body fat. you're a disgrace to all gyms.

Negative experience: Run badly by the ironically named Better. Terrible booking system, was almost unusable during the pandemic, now slightly improved but still horrible. Incapable of booking more than ticket for yourself. Such a pain with kids or friends. Dirty change area because outdoor shoes.allowed!

Parkside Pools and Gym
Parkside Pools and Gym

Hi Mark, we are sorry to hear your struggle with our booking system. It gives you the option to select who you would like in our Swim for All sessions so you can add children and friends. The Swim for Fitness does need to be booked separately. Outdoor shoes are not allowed and we do have signs to say this and an area to take your shoes but unfortunately it is hard to manage people constantly going in and out. We will take all your feedback into consideration to improve for our customers. Thank you.

Positive experience: Slides and pool are awesome! Toddler pool is also great, nice temperature and plenty to do! Changing rooms could do with a refresh, broken doors and not the cleanest!

Positive experience: Nice toddler pool, where they have toys out during toddler splash. We booked in advance but it wasn't too busy. The water was a little bit cold for small children, but that didn't ruin the fun!

Negative experience: I had the displeasure to attend one of the toddler sessions at this pool last week. As soon as I entered reception I was met with the most disengaged receptionist I've ever interacted with. Eyes down, throughout the whole interaction and there was no information at all about the facilities. I went in with my child to get dressed and realised I had no coins for the lockers so carrying all my things and my toddler I made my way back to do reception. To ask if they could change a five pound note. I waited patiently for the receptionist to finish her conversation with other staff and after a good minute she turned to me and said "Yes?" in a condescending tone. I asked her if she had chnage for a fiver and in the most smug voice through a sarcastic grid she replies that "this is a cashless business and we'd have to just take our bags to pool side". I said nothing and just went pool side with the little one as suggested with all of my things. There was no real place to put my items as every part of the floor poolside was wet. So I had to strategically place the items in an area far from my view that had to be dry. The actual poll for the toddlers is more of a fun space and less about teaching your little ones to swim so I'd not recommend this pool if you had that in mind. The session starts late and Finishes 15 minutes before the hour ends so be aware if you planned an hour. Not a big deal but I believe they may check the pool water for quality during this period. Getting dressed in the pool with toddlers is painless. They have a baby chnage mat as well as a upright chair for them to sit in while you get changed yourself. So no need to double team with a partner here. Weirdly as a CASHLESS business the lockers require cash as well as the hair driers. So I really think the receptionist was just mocking me. I'd highly recommend that reception take some time off to reflect on whether they want to remain at the business as they clearly don't enjoy their job. To management at this location consider putting your staff through hospitality training as it will go a long way to help the business grow. I know better Gym is still a council backed franchise but a minimum standard should be maintained.

Parkside Pools and Gym

Hi there, apologies for your experience here we don't want our customers displeased like this. We do sell locker tokens for £1 which you can pay for on card and are currently in the process of setting up new hairdryers. We do advertise this pool as 'Toddler Splash' as it is more for toddlers to have fun and get comfortable in the water than learning strokes, for that I would advise booking the 'Swim for All'. 'Toddler Splash' is also advertised as 45 minutes for their own health and wellbeing as it is not advised for them to be in the water for that long. Thank you for the positive feedback and we will take the rest into consideration try to make our centre better for our customers.

Fantastic experience: Used to be a member in the gym in 2015-16, if it still has the same quality then I would 100% recommend it.

Positive experience: We go to the toddler splash which my daughter loves, and the little pool is well equipped with slides and fountains etc.. The changing facilities are dire though. Please fix the lock on the family changing room in the womens changing section; it's been broken for weeks! As well as the toddler changing seat in there.

Positive experience: An interesting looking building in a very central location. The cafe area had an overhaul recently and it does make it look slightly less institutional in there now. Slightly. Otherwise not much appears to have changed in years. It's a perfectly good pool and gym (I used to be a member and I did like the view of parker's piece from the treadmills).

Fantastic experience: Great family fun pleace check bookings as another family missbooked for diving pool as the wanted to dive but was set as toddler pool

Fantastic experience: Really clean and hygienic pool and locker rooms. The cafe has pretty decent food seen as it's a pool.

Positive experience: Affordable swim close to the city center. Reasonably priced, large swimming pool, tends to be less busy in the evening for lane swim. Overall satisfied!

Shirley Theedam 3 years ago

Positive experience: In dere need of refurbishment. Shabby inside. Was enjoying over 60 s swim but cancelled for summer for 'swim for all', but obviously not for over 60 with disabilities and can't Lane swim in cold pool or swim with children splashing etc in dive pool. Disappointed.

Kharis Millernmnmmmnnmn 3 years ago

Negative experience: When we attacked there were drunk people Outside the windows, I understand there’s not much the staff can do but these men were peeking through the holes in the windows to watch people/children swimming, I wasn’t very happy about it with taking my daughter in there with strange drunk men watching. I told the staff who were on reception they said they would have a manager remove them, I felt really unsafe etc. Went swimming, coke out and they were still there… so to me it didn’t feel like I could be safe in there.

Matt Yang 3 years ago

Negative experience: Been here a few times, and it was alright, but I met a terrible receptionist this time (a chubby beard guy wearing a green t-shirt, seems like a self-claimed manager). He wasted 30 mins of our time. He asked us to download the app and register in order to get in, but the next customer had the same problems but just registered at the counter without any trouble, I'm not sure why, but it feels very discriminated to me.

Positive experience: Member of the gym here. Equipment is always clean, staff are really great, friendly and helpful. Sometimes gets a bit busy during rush hour and it's a shame it's not open later than 10pm.

Meggie Meggie 3 years ago

Negative experience: Pool was ok but the female showers and toilets were disgusting Hair everywhere and stank. Didn't look like it had been cleaned today. It was unusable

Nick Loucas 3 years ago

Positive experience: Nice and clean premises with polite and helpful staff. Also a great option for short stay visitors as they offer 'per session' bookings. 10pound bookings for 1h gym is a bit pricey, however.

Richárd Vámossy 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great for swimming, especially casual family swimming sessions on weekends. Easy to book online and check in at the reception at given time. Slots are usually 45 minutes long. All sort of other services and activities available that worthy to try, such as swimming lessons, gym, etc. Convenient location and high standard of service on affordable prices. Recommended.

D S 3 years ago

Positive experience: Pool is good, has 3 pools (toddler with slide, diving and olympic pool) plus flumes, all fairly clean. Time slots are a let down at only 50 minutes for full price, plus parking costs a ton so swimming ends up being expensive. The locks on the locker room doors are almost all broken it's shocking.

Pej G 3 years ago

Positive experience: Nice central sports centre which has 3 pools, it usually gets busy at weekends.

Valerie Clarke 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: It's ok...only downside is they do not give enough time for swim with your kids..50 mins....they should make it 90 mins

Erika Szabo 3 years ago

Negative experience: The pools are good however you have to be an expert on navigating the different time slots. The changing rooms are dirty and everyone walks in with shoes, very unhygenic without the use of the shoe covers. Toilets were disgusting. Will give it a miss for a while.

G Bignardi 3 years ago

Positive experience: Nice gym/pool but clear under investment in maintenance. Lots of the cardio machines are broken and ancient. Shower area of pool is also poorly maintained and obviously falling apart with a lack of proper water sealing. Pool is often crowded. Like all gyms trying to leave / change your membership is a hassle too, but not any worse than other gyms in Cambridge. On the plus side the gym isn't very busy and has a good outdoor area.

Positive experience: My kids had lots of fun on the flumes and small pool, so satisfied overall as it's not expensive. Down side is not very clean (tonnes of hair stuck to walls, door of shower), broken locks on showers and lockers, lots of flaking paintwork and plaster (looking at the flumes from below is awful!) and like another reviewer, one of my children got a rash from the water.

Fin Carson 3 years ago

Positive experience: Lovely lane swim experience. The chemicals in the pool gave me a rash though. Hopefully in future swimming pools will prioritize customer satisfaction over price of pool sterilisers
