Fantastic experience: Small gym with excellent facilities, clean, quiet and really friendly helpful staff. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the gym and studio are modern and nice once you get inside. The gym is never too busy, you can always use the kit you want. Yoga in the studio with ambient colour changing lights, especially Fatoumata's Thurs and Fri evening, is magical

Fantastic experience: I really look forward to going to walthamstow leisure centre. I enjoy my classes at this centre I attend Helen and Michelle clasess, probably the most. They are really good instructors and ensure that everyone is included in the classes regardless of what your ability is. They also ensure that everyone is doing the excerise correctly and enjoying their time while exercising. They have made their sessions into a small friendly community. I find the staff very helpful and willing to support customers when I attend.

Fantastic experience: Had a great induction with Noel. Even better knowing that I only need to spend 30 mins at the gym each time. Great for me as I work from home and works around my lifestyle. Thanks to Carl for his immense support on the admin side of things and sorting my issues. Highly recommend this place.

Positive experience: Here is my honest review after a few weeks of trying classes and the gym here. I've been coming here for a few weeks now, specifically for the Core Conditioning classes on Tue evenings with Farah; and let me tell you, she is amazing! Never been a fan of anything to do with yoga and pilates (the class is neither of them but it does include some elements from both) though I found myself with persisting hip aches after increasing my physical activity levels. After attending a few of Farah's classes at the Feel Good centre and loving them, I decided to give the Core Conditioning one a go because I trust the instructor. It was one of the best decisions I've made for my body - all pain gone with an hour of stretching and conditioning exercises. Absolute magic! If there is one thing you do at this centre, then try any of Farah's classes and you won't be disappointed - 10/10 for professionalism, positivity, fun and effectiveness. Now, in terms of facilities, I find the gym here to be great and quieter than in other locations. I've not used it, but the sports ground seems fantastic for badminton. There are some things all around the centre that need fixing - simple things like the water fountain - and I am not a big fan of the shower space - not always as clean as it should be, but I think the quality of the classes I've been attending makes that less important. :) One final thing I'd say is that perhaps reception staff should be a bit more visible and more friendly as I personally found my first visit to the place confusing. Overall, I'd recommend this centre and give it 4*, which would easily become 5* once the things I mentioned above are fixed.

Fantastic experience: The squash courts have just been refurbished including brand new floors - a great facility to have locally. The squash league is very friendly and a lot of fun. My kids also love the gymnastics classes.

Positive experience: Nice place for both gym and squash. It has two squash courts with newly laid floors. There's also a huge car parking on the ground.

Negative experience: One badminton court with two hours only allow two people to play. Additional people need to pay Admin fee. Unreasonable policy!!!

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy going to this gym. There are plenty of equipments and it is usually pretty clean. I often see staff cleaning. However, I must admit there are some awful smell near the toilets/lockers area at times but I know they are trying to get that fixed. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful especially Carl and Noel. They are both very professional.

Fantastic experience: Michelle’s Dance Fitness classes on a Monday at 18:30 are INCREDIBLE! I have followed her from Waltham Forest Feel Good Centre where she teaches on a Tuesday because the classes are that much fun and it’s closer to my home! I have also tried Pauline’s Fit Beat Classes on a Wednesday at this location and both ladies are masters of movement. The classes are excellent, consistent and creativley taught everytime. 10/10.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has been attending gymnastics classes at Walthamstow Leisure Centre for over three years, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The coaches—Asta, Christian, and Neringa—are exceptionally good and professional. They not only possess great technical knowledge but also create a positive and encouraging environment for the children. Under their guidance, my daughter has made significant progress in her gymnastics skills. The coaches are attentive to each child's individual needs, ensuring that they develop at their own pace while still being challenged. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful, while the members are respectful and polite, creating a great positive environment to be in.

Positive experience: I have been using the Walthamstow Leisure Centre for a few years now. The facilities are really good and can support beginners as well as more experienced people. The staff, approachable and friendly. They offer support as and when required. The gym is kept really clean and has a good mix of exercise machines. There is good hygiene routines and there are lots of wipes to clean equipment before and after use. There is also a water machine that you can use.

Fantastic experience: Walthamstow Leisure Centre (WLC) of 243 Markhouse Rd, E17 8RN, is 'Simply The Best'. WLC has great facilities for the community to use. Better's Manager - Angela Riley is an excellent manager of a great team, reflective of her excellent managerial and 'customer care' skills. They all work very hard to enable us to use the great facilities at WLC. Angela in particular has facilitated us to be able to play tabletennis with 2 new tables. We play on Tuesdays from 11 am to 12.45 pm and all are welcome to join us and socialise with a great group of people. Thank you Better for all you do for the community & employing such a wonderful manager like Angela and her team. I would encourage all the Community to see for yourself what a great leisure centre this is to play Sport - Everyone is welcome to join in, from beginners to advanced level. No one need ever feel lonely or too shy to come along, when there is a great Sports Centre that caters for everyone's needs & easily accessible by public transport too. Hope you come along to WLC and try it out for yourself.

Fantastic experience: My 9yr old daughter has been attending the gymnastics class for over 2 years and really loves it! The gym has sprung floors, bars, vaults, foam pit and more.. They have the option of taking part in competitions too. A great way to keep fit and have fun ‍♂️‍♂️

Fantastic experience: We recently celebrated our son’s 10th birthday with the foam blaster bash at the Walthamstow Leisure centre. All the kids had an amazing time and didn’t want to leave. Noah was super helpful and welcoming upon our arrival promptly showing to the very clean party room where we were able to set up. Carl was an amazing coach making sure all 20 kids felt included and kept them all entertained. Overall it was a great experience and the team made us and our guest feel very welcomed from start to finish. I’d definitely recommend this venue for a kids party.

Fantastic experience: Walthamstow Leisure Centre The centre has terrific facilities, one being the numerous badminton courts. The surface is perfect and ceiling high as befits the game. The costs are so minimal it's a blessing to our badminton club which consists of mostly older and experienced players. There is ample parking in centre the car park which is great esp on cold days! The staff are mega friendly and helpful and always welcoming us with a smile. We look forward to our weekly workouts!

The coaches were amazing, providing an hour of fun gymnastic activities suitable for everyone. The party room was equipped with speakers for music, creating a lively atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the entire event. We highly recommend this venue for birthday parties!

All the staff are very friendly and helpful, always greet you with a smile, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them, I don't often use the gym, but the centre has a nice variety of classes with excellent teachers which I attend most evenings. Fantastic experience: My son celebrated his 7th birthday with a Foam Blaster Bash party at Walthamstow Leisure Centre on 14th April. Waleed our party host and Fernanda the Duty Manager were both incredibly friendly and helpful and once the kids were kitted out they had a great time. The centre was clean and welcoming throughout and the Studio was a great space for the kids to have a party tea, cake and run around with balloons afterwards. Thanks for having us!

Negative experience: The service attitude is so bad, the manager always kicks people away and won't let them in.

Positive experience: Squash courts a BIG NO. Been coming here for years from 2010-2012 and then from 2018 up until now. Squash courts here will make you feel like your playing with a dead ball. There is no true bounce off the floorboards and the wall. Compare that to Redbridge Sports Center courts. Night and day difference. They need to seriously MASSIVELY upgrade and get it to standard. Staff friendly. Quiet. Parking not free even if you got a booking. Never used the gym.

Negative experience: Bad receptionist. You book a court and he still asks you to pay for other 2 players you want to play with. So basically you can only play singles not doubles.

Fantastic experience: Been using this centre for decades as nearest to where I live, I use Feelgood and Leyton also, but this centre despite being small is the best to visit. It is like a club the staff know you by your name, other members are also regular. The Gym is not super busy like feel good which according to my daughter has the better gym. The staff are super efficient, compared to other centres the staff here stand out. Angela she is like a super 5 star concierge certainly got a wow from me last week. The yoga are my favourite classes, Mike, Matteo and Fatoumata and also Pauline's she is a legend. Mindfullness after yoga I miss it any chance it could come back or yoga be 1.5 hours.

Fantastic experience: The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The gym equipment is stimulating and it has an uplifting vibe. They have a fantastic gymnastics programme which my daughter attends this has really built her confidence.

Fantastic experience: I use the centre mainly to play squash and am a part of the squash league. The squash league is for all abilities and a great way to get into squash and get fit. There a couple of coaches who have years of experience. There are also a number of badminton courts at the centre that I used in the past as well as a reasonable sized gym.

Negative experience: Staff are welcoming and interactive. Equipment are inadequate and the centre appears to be at the bottom of Better’s pile! Enjoy the fitness classes however request for additional boxing classes have not come to fruition

Negative experience: The staffs were very rude to us. They yelled at us and asked us to pay extra money to enter the court. However, this policy is not shown anywhere on the website or the leisure centre itself.

Fantastic experience: The gymnastics programme here is amazing. It is the best in Waltham Forest, even Beating feel good centre. They have a foam put and bars which is so fun to use!

Negative experience: I used to be a member and thought the facilities were ok if a little expensive, but local. Gave up my membership when covid hit, but my DR has since given me a referal to rejoin, been waiting about 10 weeks for a phone call. My son gave in my form as he goes to the gym regular and has chased it up a few times,no one knows when I will get a call, or why its taking so long, latest is, "if no one calls tommorow I dont know what to suggest." Bit of a joke now I think.

Fantastic experience: I only have good things to say about this Better Gym & their staff. They’re all so friendly as are the people in the gym. There’s a lovely community vibe that I haven’t experienced before in any other London gym and this is my second time using a Better gym, the last time was a few years ago. The gym itself is fairly well equipped, with a good amount of free weights as well as a bar bell and trap bar (no squat rack, smith machine or landmine). It’s clean and obvious maintained - in the week I attended they had repainted a couple of walls. The bathrooms are clean as well, another plus.

Fantastic experience: Just came to play squash for the first time in years today. Could not believe it but both courts have be refurbished and looking great. Staff in centre are friendly and politely asking customers not to wear black sole shoes and trainers worn from outside. If coming to play please remember to bring your non-marking shoes and do not walk in wearing them

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Alex's functional fitness class. 30 minutes workout that targets all areas of your body. Alex is a very friendly guy who is always smiling and really motivates you to achieve your goals

Negative experience: Came in yesterday to use the shower and was denied access by the staff member, who told me it's a service they do not do and that I'd need to be a member to use the shower or come back at 1pm which made no sense.... I even explained to him other better gyms do the same service and still he didn't allow me in.

Negative experience: Friendly staff and good teachers , the gym m’a equipments are ok but filthy sanitary

Negative experience: I try to play squash here once a week but it isn’t a good experience. Boards are loose in both courts which affects play and is a health hazard. Blood stains have been on the floor/wall for some time so not exactly the cleanest courts during a pandemic. Contacted the centre manager via the Better website twice and had no response in over 3 weeks now. The boards have been loose for over 6 weeks and yet the courts have remained open for booking. Not sure why they think it is acceptable to continue taking money and ignore customers when there are health hazards and major issues that could easily be fixed.

Positive experience: Manager has called me very quickly to solve an online problem with my booking and sorted out my kids lessons

Negative experience: awful gym, tiny and hardly any equipment yet still more expensive than most others around
