Inverclyde Leisure: Opinions
Positive experience: Great place to take kids, plenty of things to do in the swimming. It is a shame though that the fun pool is closed during school hours, kids not at nursery or school yet have to miss out. Also the changing rooms need some work, doors or locks missing.
Fantastic experience: Easy to get to, disabled access, lot's of parking in area. Brilliant ice rink.
Fantastic experience: Warm environment.
Positive experience: Kids enjoyed the swimming but it's very run down looking. There was also a jobby in the communal shower by the pool.
Fantastic experience: Great day out for the kids.
Positive experience: Good venue but very busy, prefer the PG pool personally
Fantastic experience: We travel from Paisley to come as it's the best swimming pool for kids in the area with lots of flumes and fun areas in the pool. Water is warm and changing rooms are clean so I'm a lot happier going swimming with the kids!
Fantastic experience: So fun Iove it and I do ice-skating here!
Negative experience: The second time there has been poo in the changing rooms AFTER the attendants have been around cleaning. Disgusting.
Fantastic experience: Happy staff ...
Positive experience: With it being the school holdays, two of my granddaughters asked if I would take them swimming. We decided to visit the Water Front Leisure complex, in Greenock. I have been here before but it was decades ago, with my own children. It is a great place to take your kids swimming. There is a baby and toddler pool, a wave pool, water slides, a lazy river, a bubble pool (jacuzzi) and a main pool. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of trained life guards at every part of the water complex and they are strict but fair. The main pool is sometimes shut off from the rest of the water complex but this is mainly due to swimming classes and training for the more serious swimmers. It does open up though. Please note that the main pool is up to 1.9 metres in depth at places and due dilligence is recommended if taking young children into this pool. I very enjoyable experience. I would recommend the Water Front to anyone who wants to let their kids expend their energy in a constructive and fun way.
Positive experience: Cannot understand why 12 to 1 is regarded as peak times and us who are on off peak payment cant swim. This hour is never busy and i feel it is an unfair rule !
Fantastic experience: Best gym group
Positive experience: I actually just walked past the leisure centre. Obviously it must have believed that I used the facilities.
Positive experience: My lovely Granddaughters lovely dancing on ice show!!!
Negative experience: Need a cleaner pool after going i was spewing bc the water was so dirty
Positive experience: The pool and whole centre have seen better days. Not so much in need of TLC, but in need of a decent cleaning team. Even at 9 am you still feel you might catch something and clients advised me to wear socks in the pool as varucas are rife. The staff in charge of events, like the swimming classes and gym support are amazing and helpful. Some of the reception staff could do with some customer services training. The most challenge aspect is however how poorly the centre adheres to any disability support. Shocking! Such a shame as this centre has so much potential.
Negative experience: AVOID FAMILY ILL FROM SWIMMING HERE My wife who’s 25 weeks pregnant me and my 2 year old daughter are ill from here with sickness and diorreah we went to this swimming on the 26th of May at 2 o clock on looking at the swimming it needs upkeep and a good deep clean we went to the shower before going in and seen black sock fluff all over the floor a wrapper wet food or sick by looks of it was vile talk about lack of hygiene then when walking in the pool a man in full outdoor clothing a navy tracksuit and dirty trainers with food in standing speaking to the young girl lifeguard who’s supposed to be watching her surroundings has her back to the pool standing gabbing away we stayed an hour majority at splash zone we went round the river with our daughter once on way out she swallowed a bit of the water was sick as soon as we got out going to change all over myself then when we got home she had the runs it was all over her outfit me and my wife didn’t feel well and didn’t eat dinner later that night my wife and my symptoms were the exact same to our daughters I’ve had to take time off work and we are all ill we haven’t been anywhere else last week we decided to take our daughter out for a bit as it had been bad weather last week so decided to get out for a bit symptoms started after being in this mess of a place Do not recommended!
Positive experience: Great pool plenty to do
Fantastic experience: The reception staff and gym r great and friendly love the gym and Costa
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool ) leisure centre , good sized pool , spa pool and toddler area . Also sauna and competitively priced.
Fantastic experience: Great place kids loved it
Positive experience: More interested in the money they make from school lessons which results in less lane swimming. Also showers are horrendous! Took my son two weeks ago left without having a shower as the there was no water ???
Fantastic experience: Great selection of food and shopping
Negative experience: Being honest let's start : changing rooms -terrible, doors missing, doors that won't lock Lockers - at least half the lockers don't work, the ones that do have bent keys that dig into your wrist when swimming Water - cold mostly unheated and hard to get in at first, lazy river is good , wave machine hasn't worked in years , there's mould running down the walls ,tiles falling off everywhere Flumes - the fast one is fine , the slow one has a que about an hour long because everyone thinks they can literally stay on it for half an hour at a time, also walking up the stairs to get to flumes doesn't exactly fill you with confidence with all the big cracks in the walls with slimey stuff and water running out of them Showers - ever tried showering in a trickle of water, it's no fun ,there's no water pressure at all folks , apart from that everything is great ! Only talking about swimming not the gym or ice rink
Fantastic experience: Was down the other day for a sauna and steam room , was amazing ,hassle free and wasn't expensive, also their is no limit of time so you can stayin there the whole day using the sauna ,steam room , jacuzzi and swimming pool , also the jacuzzi isn't turned on until 4:00, the pool is now fixed so can be lowered or heightened, was in tonight and the jacuzzi was off
Hi Lee Thank you for leaving a review - glad to hear you are enjoying the facilities! Thanks IL
Positive experience: The options for a fun pool in Stirlingshire are non existent so we decided to take the hours drive to waterfront for a day out with our boys. It’s a great pool and the river rapids were a big hit. No wave machine due to a fault but both flumes were running and good fun. There is a 1.2m height restriction for these so be aware, our fairly tall 5 year old was initially allowed on the ring flume but then told too small when we tried again, suppose it’s your luck with how thorough the lifeguard is great views over the Clyde too. Would go back here for a fun few hours, decent changing area and clean.
Fantastic experience: Great pool lovely staff
Positive experience: Best place for swimming fun in the west central belt and I have tried them all with my 3 boys.
Fantastic experience: We have been looking for somewhere to take the kids swimming that is more than just a pool. It's a shame that so many places seem to have no slides (dolphin)... Or inflatables..(same place..). Other pools have some things for the kids and they are: Understaffed Swimming lessons Broken etc. I called before we drove along to Greenock just to make sure that we could access the various pools and there was no restrictions. The woman I spoke to (unfortunately I am terrible with names) was very friendly and helpful. The facilities are fantastic - there are two flumes, one is a tube flume, a lazy river, spa tub, kids little splash area and lots of other little fun things. The water was actually warm which makes it such a pleasant experience. There were many lifeguards on duty. I found both the changing rooms and the pool areas to be clean and well maintained. Lockers take £1 coin, check the lock works before loading up with stuff. Family change areas are well laid out. The hairdryer s take 20p but it was on for ages and is a proper hairdryer. There is also a specific / seperate pool for lessons and lane swimming also.
Positive experience: Great ice rink.
Fantastic experience: One of the few places for fitness and leisure that's getting supported by their local council ... Great fitness options , swimming, gym for all levels , ice rink and great staff .. well worth a visit
Positive experience: Good fun for family ,the place badly needs an overhaul
Fantastic experience: A good place to spend time
Negative experience: Leisure Pool - only opens at 3:30pm when schools are back & 10am when schools on Holiday.. yous open from 530am and it should be open from that time.. I have energetic kids and would like nothing more to take them early when it's quiet .. Think yous should rethink opening times
Positive experience: Decent pool , flumes , rapid and wave pool . Kids loved it . Reasonable prices also .
Fantastic experience: Great area for kids under 4 years of age. Had grandson and its the best he's ever enjoyed the swimming and he's 2.
Positive experience: Was here yesterday again. Absolutely stifling hot inside. Good wee viewing bit for folk who don't go in the pool 2 big slides. Rapids ect. No wave machine. Disabled parking outside. Woman on the front desk is lovely and very helpful. Kids enjoy it.
Positive experience: Kids had fun, could do with mote showers as had to queue to shower to enter the pool
Fantastic experience: One of the best swimming pools about. Great fun on the slides and slow moving water pool.
Positive experience: We did enjoy our visit here but thought there would be more slides. There was two one blue one that you slide down on a donut which was fun, and one white one that you lie back for as it is fast. There is 4 pools, one outside that wasn't in use due to matience, one little one with a little bridge and water jets for little people (Children), one wave one, one for lessons that wasn't very deep, there was one that goes in a circle called the lazy river that just takes you around, a jet jacuzzi, a steam room, sauna, a cafe, viewing area, gym. It did have lockers that require a token or £1 coin to use (some of which didn't work) it does have individual or family changing cubicles (a lot of doors don't close or lock), for those with long hair there are hair dryers (some don't work). It's not the cleanest of places, it does need a lot of matience and up grades, it could be a great place but at the moment it was OK. There is free parking but only for 3 hours. When I called the reception to find out information no one answered (not good customer service). The price I paid was £12.50 for 1 adult & 1 child, and £24.00 for 1 adult and 4 kids. It can vary, during summer it closes at 6pm but you don't know that as website says different, when you phone - no answer so you only know when you get there. It was OK for a fun pool, not for swimming, if you want a change then try it, I personally was not impressed!
Negative experience: Little girl had fun, staff nice, but the place is pretty run down and old.
Fantastic experience: Went for the waterslides and we were not disappointed
Positive experience: One of the slides wasn't working. "Wave" pool is an overstatement.
Positive experience: Outdoor pool and waves need repaired - however slides are some of the best in Scotland - don't listen to people moaning about them - clear instructions saying slide at your own risk, its a wet environment - tyres can tip over. Steam room and sauna also good and free parking.
Fantastic experience: It was ok, closed earlier than we expected, kids area 4pm on a Sunday, I think we misread the info as the main pool is open until 4.30pm. The showers barely worked and the staff closed off some of the changing area in preparation for cleaning the cubicles which meant a wee bit of standing around waiting for showers then cubicles. I think next time we will just leave well before closing time. The kids loved it though and it's the only place near by (1hr drive from home) with a lazy river which is the only reason we went so far.
Fantastic experience: Been here a few times my little one loves it
Fantastic experience: Good facilities. Helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: Free parking. Reasonably priced. Good facilities. Would use again.
Fantastic experience: Had a great time and my toddler loved her swimming and playing
Positive experience: Great swimming . Wee boy loved it pool is warm for children . This place needs more showers and more family changing rooms . Shame the rubber ring slide wasn't working
Fantastic experience: 1st class complex, brilliant staff, so much to do, swimming, ice skating, weights, plenty of classes to choose from.....skillbike...body combat & many many more....
Fantastic experience: A great pool and fitness complex. We take our kids here for swimming lessons. Lap pools, recreational pools and water slides, as well as spa and sauna.
Negative experience: Place is filthy, over priced, and disgusting, staff are terrible with customers
Fantastic experience: Great gym ,if I lived in greenock I would come to this gym ,great machine weights, great showers
Fantastic experience: Very good, water slightly cold but you heat up in a couple of minutes, staff were a great help. It was £7 for adults £7 for 7+ year olds And free for under I believe. The kids asked to go back A little bit of disabled access to main pool that is roughly 3 pools in 1, a length pool a lazy river and a general use pool there is a toddler pool and jacuzzi as well the toddler pool is great it's simular to a play park. Over all great experience
Negative experience: FIVE STAR! Never seen the like. Such a great place, amazing faculties and atmosphere. exited to continue with my gym membership
Fantastic experience: Omg the swimming pool is do good,I recommend the flumes too!
Fantastic experience: Loved this pool. Ideal if you have small kids, water is warm and it's a great family activity.
Positive experience: If you love a long walk. This is for you.
Positive experience: Being disabled, i found it difficult to get to where I was going. The long ramp up to the door was hard going
Fantastic experience: Good skating rink, you could rent skaters and support for kids, very beautiful view on the river and hills. Reasonable price. A bit cool if you wait for your kids, but there are places to sit.
Fantastic experience: Swimming with my daughter and granddaughter they had a great time
Fantastic experience: Great for slides and very reasonable priced for a family swim
Negative experience: A part of the gym has great multiple options for families swimming polls and other things It's not much If someone wants to stick with a gym only on the waterfront it's no chance to choose other options like different Inverclyde section gym got example 10.50f between 10 to 4 I rather only stay with waterfront by its no option on website Unfortunately website it's so complicated it's hard to find or it's me it's really difficult and they have main waterfront Inverclyde building opposite to west college Scotland huge minus no provide any student discount most people will go to JD cross the road because
Negative experience: Website leaflet on opening times is impossible to read and they don't answer the phone
Positive experience: its ok i swim here changing rooms are ok not the cleanest place but its decent
Fantastic experience: Learning to play Curling here. In daylight, wonderful views of the Clyde Estuary from the big windows. This is a brilliant place to go for Curling. It also has a great gym. I'm going back there as often as I can, which will be every week!
Negative experience: Should have known better, when asked if we were from Inverclyde area (no) cashier said lucky you. Numerous lockers and cubicle doors broken. Lazy river so slow my son only went round once , outdoor pool has been closed longer than the lifeguard has worked there,( one of the reasons we went) ,algee all round poolside floor at windows. 25 minute wait for 1 ride on the flume,. What a council run shambles. Qll this for £11.60 for an adult and 1 child. WONT BE BACK.☹️☹️☹️
Positive experience: Visited with our 2 boys, aged 7 and 11 for swimming. Receptionist wasn’t the most welcoming. Swimming for non-members is only 4-6pm and they close the slides about 20 minutes before the end. Lazy river is lazy itself Barely moved. The outside area was closed. The wave machine wasn’t used. We did have fun and it was ok for the cost.
Positive experience: Will be nice when new building completed, use the waterfront for swimming great facilities.
Fantastic experience: Excellent experience my girls loved it all the way from England
Positive experience: Very good centre, took my grandkids ice skating, found it a little expensive, over £30 for a family of 3 including all skate and balance toy for the youngest. Staff were very attentive in the ice rink, available and ready to answer your questions. Overall a great day out.
Negative experience: Went with 2 other friends, the pool was disgusting, dirty everywhere, the showers were so bad, rust on the sides, drains were rusty, the pool was foggy and acidic which caused my friend to come out in rashes aswell as myself, horrible pool
Fantastic experience: Went today with a 11 year old granddaughter. Didn’t know what to expect as reviews were very mixed. Our experience. Very friendly spacious clean. Lazy river and flumes open only thing not on was wave machine. Stayed in nearly two hours. Warm out of the water. Plenty of toilets clean. Café was lovely. Then home what’s not to like. Posting this as there was not too many current reviews
Negative experience: Terrible it's the summer holidays and they close the pool and flumes at 6 pm it makes no sense to me and the lifeguards where very rude to me and my son.
Negative experience: Had a great time swimming, slides are great, but I was disappointed by the cleanliness / hygiene of the pool.
Positive experience: Nice centre. Pools are a good size plenty for kids to do
Positive experience: Good pool facilities and well equipped gym!
Positive experience: Changing cubicles around the pool area in poor standard and many lockers don't work. Whole complex just looking a bit tired.
Fantastic experience: Regular visitor always a fun day
Positive experience: Good for a swim and a sauna & steam
Fantastic experience: I'd just like to say thank you on behalf of my dad Pat. He came down today for the first time and required assistance in and out of pool due to him having an artifical leg. I phoned up previously to enquire about his visit and I can't fault the staff at all. The staff were friendly and professional from start to finish and my dad thorughly enjoyed the swimming today. It's been a positive experience for my dad and he's really looking forward to his next visit.
Positive experience: Tiles could do with so filling in of the gaps. It's sore on your feet. Otherwise good
Negative experience: On holiday at a Caravan park nearby ! Took my 11yr old Grandaughter to this pool today after 4pm as advised on a phone call to them . I was aware the flumes wouldn’t be on but as we don’t do flumes that wasn’t an issue ! However I have to say I have been going swimming for the last 55 years and I have NEVER seen a pool so absolutely filthy in my life ! The grease on the sides of the pool you could scrape off there was lumps of hair with fluff IN the pool the water looked dirty and the whole place is seriously run down ! I couldn’t even get a decent swim 1.9metres depth and kids hogging the tiny area that you might have had a few yards in so basically we ended up having a few times round the lazy river and came out . I will stay the staff were very nice and it was nice and warm in the changing area . However should I ever be back in this area there is not a chance in hell I’d go back to this pool! £5.10 for a wee paddle and float absolute extortion. !!!
Negative experience: Lots of mould on tiles etc. Changing area had lots of icky things dotted around. Serious attention is required
Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved it. Great staff
Positive experience: Excellent for the family to enjoy soke fun in the water. Kids love this place. Friendly and helpful staff
Positive experience: Descent gym with fairly up to date machines and choice with friendly accommodating staff. Downside is the swimming pool itself is to cold as is the jacuzzi or as they may say cold water spa eitherway it used to be warmer though is handy coming out of the sauna into it. Steam room is a hit or miss being that sometimes it's warm with steam and sometimes not and smells a touch.. water machine has been updated so no cup system anymore, has the fountain and the option to fill a bottle so all good. My gripe is the showers at the health suite are poor with no great power and the soap dispensers are always empty. Also the jacuzzi should be open as part of the leisure suite nor used as part of the pool. In my opinion you can't keep hiking up the prices without upgrading the facilities or at least keeping it up to standard.
Negative experience: Was here at the weekend and the pool water was freezing, had spoke to several other people on the day and alp had the same problem, ALSO: in your kiddy pool the sign clearly states only children accompanied by an adult allowed in, HOWEVER this was not the case on Saturday with several much older kids causing riot, splashing the toddlers and at times almost trampolining on a very young child, this was all allowed happen while ons of your fairly young looking lifeguards was "supposed" to be monitoring the area, Given that lifeguards are constantly rotated here, ARE YOUR STAFF FAMILIAR WITH THE DIFFERENT RULES WITHIN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE POOL??
Negative experience: Went there today with my daughter and granddaughter, haven't been for years, it's gone completely down hill, it's filthy, no wave machine working, no rapid river working, huge disappointment!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant place although the pool was freezing, I don't think it's their fault as gas and electric bills have gone through the roof due to corporate greed and our governments not stepping in to help.
Negative experience: No happy. Took my wee boy and my pal bobson to the waterfront and didn’t have a good time. Didn’t have water wings for him and bobson had to keep him on his shoulders. Poor show
Positive experience: Fun, friendly helpful staff. Showers were very poor.
Negative experience: The swimming pool and changing areas needs a good clean.
Fantastic experience: Nice wee ice rink.
Positive experience: Needs bit of TLC, but good facilities.
Negative experience: Went swimming with the kids, flumes weren't open so there wasn't much for the older child to do. The clock on the wall was also wrong so we effectively left an hour early.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff good pools and large gym
Negative experience: Incredibly DIRTY swimming pool. It looks as if the staff rarely clean it and when they do, it is a very careless attempt. This also applies to the changing areas. The entrance fees to the pool are also very expensive compared to other pools i've been to.
