Fantastic experience: tons of bunkers

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking service lifeguards are racist and rude. I drove 30 mins just so they can tell me I can’t go in. Definitely the worst service I have ever gotten. This is goes mainly to the female lifeguard, she was very rude.

Negative experience: One of the staff was rude and couldn’t talk to me politely. I travelled 30 mins to get there and they don’t told me that I can’t enter the swimming because of my swim wear.

Negative experience: A bit down at heel and full of kids. My wife walked down there about a mile this morning only to be told there is school swimming on Fridays. There was nothing on the website to say this. My wife wanted to use the baths for the free over 60's swimming between 7am and 1pm Can't wait for Sandwell Aquatics Centre to open as there'll be separate adult and schools swimming Apparently it opens in 6 weeks and we are really looking forward to swimming there

Negative experience: Increased my month DD with 2 weeks notice but takes 60 days to cancel with them. Since increasing fees by nearly 10% they haven’t fixed and refuse to fix any equipment….clearly they plan to run everything into the ground in preparation for the new aquatics centre….pity!

Negative experience: Worst experience here please don't come with your family here, all staff is annoying, they wasted our family's precious time, take payment and then say you can't swim in

Negative experience: Dirty rusty and inadequate. Smells like male urinals ! It is clear this facility has not received any investment for a long period of time. Despite emailing managers and raising concerns with staff nothing changed. It's an embarrasment to Sandwell and Sandwell residents deserve better.

Fantastic experience: Went on a ghost hunt in the tunnels. It was an amazing night would definatly go again

Positive experience: The gym is small. There is not enough equipment for weight training. Small space. But i am giving it 4 stars cause i live next to it, and it is convenient for me.

Negative experience: I've witnessed staff making fun of and mocking the customers. It was so bad and obvious, I could not believe it, it made me very upset and I still think about it sometimes. Very disrespectful, those guys should be sacked.

Positive experience: I take my granddaughter there for swimming lessons and she loves it.

Negative experience: Management need to be made aware of the impact of autism and the sensory issues surrounding these! Turned away becasue autistic child was wearing shorts that had, I might add been worn on several visits to this and other pools without issue, prior to todays visit!! Ended up having to buy £22 trunks or tell my kid they couldnt swim (for those of you with children with this disability you know how this would go down not prepared for backlash) as friends were already in pool!! Manager suggested I order these online erm? Manager and Lifeguards then spent the whole time watching them constantly made them feel uncomfortable - not happy with treatment today at all! I feel there are some training issues that need resolving.

Fantastic experience: This place is a little heaven. Really lovley staff who cannot do enough for you & always professional. A superb 33m pool . I lane swim there most days and yes the building is from the 1930s & is showing its age but arent we all but it will be much missed by the many regulars who visit when the Aquatic Centre opens I can't recommend the place enough.

Negative experience: Shocking services is all I can say. Prison type behaviour from staff and language. Rules are policed with bad language and feel sorry for locals that have to use this place and it’s staff.

Fantastic experience: Regularly visit to take my daughter's swimming. They enjoy it so it gets a big thumbs up from where I'm sitting

Negative experience: Joined up for adult swimming lessons around two month's ago. Your lessons are 30 minutes long. You have a total of 8 people being taught by a single instructor which I personally feel isn't enough time for instructors to concentrate on an individual. I have had three different instructors in 8 lessons. The instructors are great but having 8 people explain where they're at each time there's a change of instructor in a 30 minute lesson is time consuming and a waste of a lesson. I have had two lessons cancelled in the space of 3 week's. And because I have paid upfront they will not offer me a refund and will add on the missed classes at the end instead. That would be okay but I cannot attend them due to having surgery and that is beyond my control. A refund is possible only for those who have paid by direct debit only. Which is unfair to those who have paid upfront. I am extremely disappointed and feel let down by smethwick swimming centre. They really need to manage thing's better as this is way below a good standard. I hope that management at Smethwick swimming centre will be looking into this. A very unhappy customer.

Positive experience: Historical building, apparently all sorts of famous people have played music here. It's quite run-down now but the pool is fine for swimming. It's a 33m pool, most of the lane swimming is just two lanes and then the rest of the pool is family swimming. They have a baby pool too which is used for aqua aerobics etc. Lots of options for classes, with dance studios and a gym. Staff are always friendly even if there's often a queue. There's disabled parking at the front of the building and then a larger car park at the back, with on street parking available at the back too.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday I went with my brother and we had soo much fun, even tho we are not able to swim we still enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend to everyone who enjoys be in water ahahah

Negative experience: Two lifeguards made fun of the person for a bad swim. So confusing. Someone should explain to employees that bad swimmers still have dignity. Lovely people there as well.

Fantastic experience: Lovely swimming center (although could do with an update) staff are fantastic, lovely people and really helpful.

Negative experience: Went with thr grandkids only to be told the small pool is shut because its full but had the option of the big pool no goodcwhen one child is under 6 months, too many teenage kids in the small pool which is designed for small kids, my advice is don't go there, they also have a problem with sewage smells all through the changing rooms 0/10

Fantastic experience: Worth it

Positive experience: Could do with a link of paint here and there but the actual bath is large, probably 30 metres, and deep too. Shower temperature is self- controlled so you choose, lockers quite spacious. Staff very polite and helpful.

Positive experience: Great little activity for your family. The staff was helpful and polite. Parking was easy.. There is parking at the front and back of the property. Relatively low cost especially for a family on a low budget. My only low point is that you couldn't enjoy the skylight because the roof really needs a good cleaning. A part from this my children had fun here and can't wait to return.

Negative experience: Needs some serious updating... Showers in changing room hardly work and those that do aren't powerful enough. Changing room in general have a weird smell considering its situated not far from pool area can't even smell the bleach as a matter of fact they smelt like urine, I was speaking to another customer who stated that she had previously informed reception of the issue and yet nothing has been done I went 3 days in a row and there was a stain in the toilet which still remains and they do have cleaners as I've seen them but what they're cleaning I do not know. I use this centre as it is convenient and 1 of the few SLT centres few that offer public swim at present.. Having said all that, on a more positive note staff I have spoken with are very welcoming/helpful this includes some of the lifeguards, gym instructors.

Negative experience: If I could rate zero I would. Absolutely awful place. The building looks like its falling down. The decor inside is none existent and the walls are worse than an abandoned warehouse. On top of that during my 1 and only visit there was a teenage boy drowning to which the life guards did not jump in to rescue him they threw him a float and blew a whistle telling him to get out. All other customers also left the pool which we presumed was to make the boys rescue easier but although a total of 7 life guards came to the pool it was in fact the boys friends that pulled him out together. Never been more disgusted in my life and would never return to that center

Positive experience: It perfect for me location wise, I just wish for what’s charged for the SLT card the gym facilities were better AND I can’t believe you’re charged 20p for the locker and you don’t get this back. Why can’t this be the lockers where you get your funds back!?

Positive experience: Staff are friendly and professional, changing rooms always smell funky! The big pool is a 30m pool. It is falling a part, but then they are closing it down. It's a shame they can't spend some money on the place as it's a listed building.

Positive experience: Well run very welcoming baths with both child and adult pools that are about 10-15m in length, although could do with refurbishment but with the GFC cuts imposed on councils its not wonder services like this struggle.
