Fantastic experience: Abundance of equipment, staff and cleaning teams: they're everywhere and so helpful and friendly! Virgin may not be the cheapest, and it isn't, but the quality of the machines compared to the gym I just left is clear. This is my first week of being a member and whilst initially reluctant due to the cost, I know I made the right decision. What made my day yesterday, was witnessing the team commercially cleaning each individual shower, thoroughly. The place is spotless. I'm delighted I have joined, and now the refurbished coffee bar and cafe is about to open and I cannot wait as I can even work from there if I need too. Like my partner told me, you cannot put a price on your health and well being so I'm not. New year, a new me, and my membership is more than worth it. I'm already feeling great.
Negative experience: I am a member. I called Vigin Active to find out if the spa pool (that was closed for maintenance) is re-opened. They said unfortunately, you have to ho there physically and find out and go back if it was still under maintenance! Great!
Negative experience: Member for 11 years and due to parking issue phil Manager said I was banned. No customer care very busy kids everywhere and pricey. better gyms for the money. Had Sky tv before covid and its now gone. Joined nuffield!

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym in Sheffield by a mile! Its so worth the extra money. Its a home fro home for me. The facilities are so good! i spend 6 hours a day here as the cafe feels like a living room and i prefer to work here than home. Then there is the amazing classes, equipment and Spa area. No other gym compares. The staff are also wonderful. So friendly and efficent. The manager is great to, you often see him cleaning and chatting to members, he does a great job! i absolutely love this pace. Big love to all the staff

Positive experience: The gym facilities, including the equipment, swimming pool, and sauna/steam room, are of high quality. However, I joined Virgin in August and within the first few weeks of my membership, my mobile phone was stolen. While I understand that the staff's ability to address such incidents is limited, I was genuinely surprised to learn that there are no security cameras on the gym floor. This presents a significant safety and security concern. If a serious incident were to occur, how would Virgin respond? It seems likely that the perpetrator is aware of this lack of surveillance, which raises further concerns about the overall security of the facility. Additionally, the changing area is quite limited in terms of privacy. With only three private changing booths available amidst hundreds of lockers, it can be quite uncomfortable for those who prefer or require more privacy. This lack of adequate facilities could be improved to accommodate the needs of all members.
Fantastic experience: Virgin active in Sheffield is an amazing gym. All the best machines and weights, and also lots of different classes. Fabulous. Plus a pool. Sauna and steam rooms

Negative experience: The price has just gone up to £108 a month !!! Try and call them it take about 20 minutes for them to answer the phone. It is a nice gym but it really is not worth that amount of money especially when the pool area is often overrun with children. Also getting in and out of the carpark at peak times leaves a lot to be desird.
Positive experience: Where to start? I’ve been a member of this gym since 2007 and in those 17 years have been very happy with the facilities, service, and classes. However since its refurbishment in November 2023, it has turned into essentially a weights club designed to appeal, it seems, to certain demograhics (younger adults, and men). Long gone are the group exercise sessions, choice of a range of classes, welcoming gym floor space, and quiet spa and hydrotherapy pool. Now it’s lift club and boxing club, the gym floor taken over by weights (no instructions on how to use them), and a spa which is typically full of very loud (men) who haven’t yet learned of indoor voices. There used to be great group exercise classes on Saturdays - always full - spinning and body combat. Now? No such classes. There seems to be little now at the club for those of us in the middle/older-age groups - particularly women. What a great shame.
Fantastic experience: You know i really do not get the 1 star reviews because the gym is stunning, clean, energetic etc the staff are fantastic not like other gyms in Sheffield where they walk around with face on, you need anything the will go out of way to help they will give you information and the advise you ask for the cafe is great can be a little pricey but its nice and fresh i have been to all the other gyms in Sheffield and never got on with them they are smelly run down and dirty but hey you get what you pay for this gym however is spotless constantly cleaning its nice to have showers that are clean and same with the changing rooms gym equipment is top notch with everything you need.
Fantastic experience: Always developing and improving! Staff in the cafe are really lovely but then again so are most of the reception staff - some go above and beyond! Classes are excellent and if you get chance do Pilates with Tiff or Deborah!
Negative experience: If you enjoy working out in what feels like a children nursery you will love it here. Expect children everywhere being loud and running around and stupid parents sat in cafe on their phone. Parents useless. Gym staff useless. Women’s changing room full of children screaming and running around. Swimming pool FULL of children at peak hours screaming and taking up 90% of lanes despite there being a dedicated kids pool. Just have done with it and call it Virgin Nursery. I QUIT.

Negative experience: The club is good but you may need to wait at some machines because there is only one. One of the things that bothered me is that the shower area was designed in a way that I do not see it respecting human privacy because the doors cannot be closed and in some parts of the door are transparent allowing anyone looking through them to see my entire body while I am showering. I know there are some people do not mind but I do. Another thing that bothered me in the club is that I tried to contact them to cancel my monthly membership before its start but they refused the request and deducted £108 from my account and when I asked them they said you need a medical report for your previous request to succeed and indeed I sent them a confidential mental health report but I was shocked today by the rejection of the request and that the subscription amount of £108 cannot be refunded! (my request was in the 30 Jul & received the final answer 16 Aug) Even after my recovery journey I don't think about returning to the club because of what has happened. Thank you and good luck.

Negative experience: Great gym, but don't order food there, they will waste your time. Ordered fries, spent 30 minutes waiting while the person "working" is asleep on a sofa, in the end I had to ask to get my fries, and they were cold. Haha.

Fantastic experience: I have been to a number of gyms in Sheffield; this is the BEST. They have a lot of equipment as well as 3 boxing bags in a quiet and narrow passageway in the corner. I use this a lot and enjoy the privacy, as there are a lot fewer eyes on you when you punch the bag.The spa area includes a really pleasant and relaxing Jacuzzi (or hydrotherapy pool, as they call it), a hot sauna (really hot, which is what I enjoy), and a cooler sauna, as well as a steam room and a swimming pool. You can tell right away that hygiene is of utmost importance to this gym, as the facilities are always clean and tidy for the members. Parking is not an issue, completely free, and there is always a space. My only complaint would be that I would of loved to bring my sister if they offered women-only time slots for the spa and swimming facilities, something that EIS, NRG, and other gyms are doing since many women are religious and don't like to wear swimwear in front of men due to religious reasons. But otherwise, if you are looking to get in shape in the most luxurious and member-focused gym in Sheffield, Virgin Active is the place to be.

Negative experience: Carried on taking money from my wife's account even though she provided evidence of being poorly and awaiting an operation. Provided medical records and still had to argue for a refund for months and when she went to rejoin she was told she had a debt from her previous contract even though it had ended. Head office don't seem to have a clue what they are doing regarding memberships.

Negative experience: Decent facilities, although its often full of litter (empty bottles and cans), changing rooms can be a mess and floors dirty. It's so busy now with folk just sat on their phones on machines, some members walking round bare foot, dirty work boots and jeans and some vaping! It's definitely lost its elite health club look and now feels more like a cheap council gym. Big groups of young lads shouting in the spa like its an ibiza beach party. I would have left by now if there was somewhere else that had the same facilities. 9th April - I went last night for the first time in a week and the issues are still the same! One guy looked like he'd come straight from working for the council or tarmacing roads! Absolutely filthy neon orange overalls and boots caked in mud! The showers looked like a barber shop floor and changing room were covered in dirt! Folk wearing flip flops and bare feet in the gym, doesn't anyone get an induction anymore or staff walk on the gym floor trying to imply some gym etiquette and health and safety?

Fantastic experience: I found this is the best gym in Sheffield with great environment, clean equipment and fabulous spa and sauna. The group classes are very popular and highly organised. This is not the cheapest option in the area but worth every penny and this is why it is almost full at the peak times. Nevertheless I always find a place to park. I don't think anyone will ever regret being a part of Virgin Active.

Positive experience: I've returned to this gym after a 2-year hiatus and generally speaking I'm happy I did so. You pay a premium price for membership of Virgin Active and I was pleased to see lots of brand new equipment on the gym floor, all in good working order. I use the occupancy feature on the app, but the evenings in particular are always very busy and I have to basically use whatever piece is available until it starts to quieten down a little. That's not really a problem as I do circuits and usually have at least an hour to work out, but I do find it frustrating when you have a group hogging the same piece of equipment for 30 minutes. That's poor gym etiquette rather than a failure on the part of Virgin Active however, and I'm sure it happens everywhere. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of dedicated abdominal and lower back equipment, so I do my own thing on the mats for core work. Maybe slightly less cardio equipment could make space for some additional strength kit, but I'm sure Virgin Active monitor the usage and will feel they have the balance right. Everything else around the gym is of a high standard, and I've found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: My personal experience at Virgin Active Broadfield Park in Sheffield was nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. Not only did I witness staff breaching members' privacy, but I also encountered fungi in both the jacuzzis and sauna. The staff at the pool were utterly useless, incapable of addressing any concerns or providing assistance when needed. It's disheartening to see such disregard for member comfort and safety. Adding to the frustration, the manager, Phil, proved to be equally useless. He failed to respond to emails promptly and seemed more inclined to pass them on, displaying laziness and a lack of accountability. Furthermore, there's a person of unknown gender (presumably a woman) who frequently enters the jacuzzi and interrupts conversations, behaving as if she were a security guard. This intrusion only adds to the overall discomfort and dissatisfaction with the gym experience. Management needs to take immediate and effective action to address these issues and restore confidence in the facility. I hope you all stay far away from this gym!

Fantastic experience: Great facility and lovely staff. I visited the club around 6pm the girl on the front desk was absolutely lovely. The gym had just been redone inside and you can tell. They have the latest Eleiko equipment ( for those that don’t know its top of the range gear ) as well as techno equipment. Couldn’t fault the gym what it offers for the price, absolute no brainer. Such experiences highlight a disregard for member safety and financial transparency, which are fundamental to a trustworthy service provider.

Positive experience: I wanted to post a positive review because the negative reviews already available made me hesitant to sign up to this gym at the beginning of the year. Every gym/ health club will have strengths and weaknesses, but overall I have been impressed with this gym and it's had a really positive impact on my life so far. The classes are always busy and you need to sign up in good time. However, I have never yet been unable to attend a class that I wanted to attend, because the waiting list clears quickly. I also see it as a positive sign that the classes are so popular and it feels good to be doing something as part of a group. I love the spin-style classes and the yoga sessions. I have a complicated schedule that changes every week, but there are lots of class options available and I have been impressed with how easy it is to pick sessions that work around my schedule, or to cancel and re-book onto something else if things change, via the app. The pool can get busy at times but it's never been so busy that I couldn't face having a swim. I used to swim a mile twice a week and would probably not use this pool for the same purpose because it can be a little busier than I like. However, for the purpose of swimming 20 laps after a class in the morning, it's fine and it's really lovely to be able to access a pool so easily. The spa facilities are a lovely bonus, too. I have joined up with my preschooler, who is just delighted with the children's pool and really looks forward to coming with me to the club in general. We haven't used the creche yet, but she really wants to give it a go, having had a look round. She loves the small soft play room in the cafe and is keen to have a go on the larger soft play area within the creche. As a former regular climber, I am also really excited to start using the auto-belay walls after I've done the intro session next week. The gym itself is great. Although it can get busy, like the pool, I haven't found this prohibitive. I love the changing rooms, which are always warm and clean on an early morning visit, too. There are some quite unkind comments about staff in the reviews on this page and I am really of the opposite opinion - everyone has been friendly, professional and helpful so far, from the reception team to the cafe staff and the swimming instructors. Overall, I think that this is a very good, albeit imperfect gym that is excellent value for money compared to lots of things that are out there.

Fantastic experience: Newly refurbished and friendly staff
Positive experience: Nice pool sap area recent refurbishment, good classes BUT and it is a big one for me, presently no 7 kilo hand weights , no kickback machine AND no ankle cuffs, no assisted pull-up machine. It js unacceptable to provide equipment to clients and then not ensure it is available again after a refurb. I am going elsewhere for the time being as I cant complete any of my specific workouts presently. So if you need any of this equipment take heed, it isnt there.
Positive experience: Good gym, nice pool, great steam room, saunas & massive jacuzzi. Good changing facilities & friendly/helpful staff. Would be a five star review, if it opened earlier than 6am (given there's 20+ people waiting/queueing to get in at that time anyway.

Positive experience: Virgin active is a superior gym/spa/sports facilities concentrated in one gigantic beautifully designed building with convenient subscriptions. Their Achilles hill is their staff and regulations. The staff are not clear about their tasks list and managers are supposing their job to be people pleasers and done! I have made a complaint out of anger today after two months of waiting and trusting for obvious faults to be fixed and behaviours to be bettered and apologies to be made. It is not about me. I already love the place. I’ll update you folks with the results.
Negative experience: There’s a girl with brown hair that works on the front desk (she’s small- looks about 12) that shouldn’t be working in a customer facing role. Looks like cracking a smile would break her face, just awful. The swimming guards (particularly one who thinks he’s all that) is just absolutely awful too. So although some staff are lovely, some are awfully unfriendly. Rip you off with a lot of hidden charges, don’t explain fees. Shut part of the spa/swim off for months. They should’ve automatically halved membership price for that inconvenience. The place/facilities are decent, that’s why I stay, but some of the staff cheapen it.. because the service is just not there.
Positive experience: Really nice here, staff are lovely, but oversubscribed and very hard to book on anything. You also have to go in in person to sign up to lots which is challenging for those of us who live further away. We've been members of another Virgin Active and not experienced these issues.

Negative experience: Member since 2016 (with a one year hiatus) and now tired of how they treat members with valid concerns. Recent issues have been: - children's swimming lessons on so regularly that there is limited availability to have a proper swim. We're told that's just the way it is and come after 7pm. -adult pool closed for month- no money back or gesture of goodwill/free passes. Option to freeze memberships, but I've already paid for a crèche pass that has an expiry date and I wouldn't be able to bring my son in due to freeze. I was told I'll benefit from the improvements. - children's pool closed for one month, same as above. I was told children could swim in the main pool, but they didn't accommodate parents with young children and it was very difficult getting in and out. My son slipped over on the side and banged his head (yes, my responsibility, but they made no efforts to make it any easier). We didn't go again that month. - After breaking my arm, I tried to freeze my membership. I was told that because I hadn't done it before the 20th of the month, that it wouldn't take effect until the next month. So, I've paid for a whole month when I can't use it and I haven't been able to take my son either. Should have broken my arm sooner. Do better Virgin! People will find other places to go.

Positive experience: EDIT: Virgin Active have now invested in new equipment bringing the gym up to the standard you'd expect. Updated to 4 stars. _____ For an expensive gym, the equipment is quite old and often broken or at least quite inaccurate in its distance and effort calculations. More money needs investing in the equipment - if I wasn’t in contract I would join another gym. Otherwise it’s fine. The pool and spa are great, location and parking also great. Classes great.
Positive experience: Signed up simply to use the pool, it’s short (25m) and very warm (apparently kept between 28 and 33 degrees) a bit too warm for a proper workout. Sometimes very noisy with water aerobics classes blasting music across the entire room. It is a fast pool though, with top drains rather than wall drains, minimising the waves bouncing back into the pool.
Negative experience: Repton Park gym. If you want gym and spa yes, but despite promises, hardly any classes. They seem to be chopping more classes. If instructor is off the class usually gets chopped too. Very poor value for money and customer interests don't seem to be important. I've been holding out on back of their promises but patience running out and I'm not on my own on this.

Positive experience: Coffee and the way they made coffee was bad. Unfortunately, I will give the rate to the gym, not the cafe
Negative experience: Once my membership has run out I won't be renewing. 20 swimmers in 2 lanes and the lanes are not wide enough. You get kicked and tbh for £60 a month its not good enough. Lockers get snipped but no one tells you its £10 a month to leave your stuff in a locker overnight. It's extra to climb the wall... again your not told this. It's always busy in the swimming as they have a family lane and swimming lessons in 3 lanes which leave 2 lanes. I never see staff in the changing rooms and once there was sanitary towels and blood all over the locker rooms The maim pool was closed for maintenance so no swim which is all I do so 1 month I couldn't even attend, then the spa area was closed for maintenance so that was out of order fir roughly a month too. Then the kids pool was shut roughly for a month and they was using the main pool so for 3 months roughly I didn't attend... yet still charged £60 a month. I get there needs to be maintenance but why not shut everything for 1 month and not charge people? I renewed my membership this year and the year b4 was brilliant and I loved it. Got my partner to join and its that bad we hardly attend anymore and I tell people not to bother joining. I find Staff rude too .. mainly swim instructors. I'm a size 16 and can't heave myself out of the pool so swim to steps to be told there's lessons and I shouldn't be in that lane. How the hell do you want me to get out of the pool then. If your looking to swim... I'd suggest a different gym. I've been to many a gym before and I'd rather go to any other tbh. Can't wait for my membership to be finished.

Positive experience: Only go here because Sheffield has a lack of decent leisure centres. The pool/spa always has maintenance issues and closes for long periods of time. They don't refund any of your membership fees when it is closed. Some of the gym equipment is broken/missing bits, and there aren't some basic items which you think would be there!

Positive experience: Good comprehensive gym. Frustrating that they often have works on in the various pools, but necessary. Hot tub needs to be ‘hotter’ but sauna and steam room are good. Creche is a life saver. It’s expensive but reasonable value for the services offered.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym, convenient location, clean, friendly personnel with a decent amount of training equipment. The gym floor is huge with a lot of natural light which gives it a fresh, energising feel. It’s cheaper than my previous gym back home in South Africa (Virgin Active Classic - Moses Mabhida) but offers a wider variety of classes. The Barre class is absolutely awesome. Always the highlight of my week! Classes are never boring as the instructor (Lisa) adds diverse exercises EVERY time. It’s perfect for anyone at any fitness level and age. Lisa pays attention to everyone's form and corrects you if you're doing it wrong. I was hesitant to join this club because of previous nasty reviews regarding POC but no other gym in Sheffield could do for me. Personally I’m very happy here.

Negative experience: Not very happy! I have been to the gym today to find my locker has been chopped so now I have to buy a new lock which I bought from virgin and wasn't the cheapest! I then find out that you have to pay £10 a month for a locker (which I was never told) at first I considered it but the more I thought about it, the more ridiculous it is when your already paying over £50 a month. When your coming to the gym 4 and 5 times a week straight from work yes it would be convenient but paying £60 plus a month for a gym and a locker is ridiculous

Positive experience: free weight section is too small for how many people use it, the quality and variety of equipment is good however there isn't enough of it, this section is always busy . The cardio section is way too big for how many people use it, there is a wide variety of bikes, treadmills etc but there simply are too many machines and half go unused at any one time. pool is good. spa is alright. the jacuuzi section is cold but the surrounding saunas and steam room are good. Staff are friendly and helpful. The opening hours are ridiculous and they keep closing earlier and earlier

Fantastic experience: I would just like to say that this gym has had a positive impact on me: I love the new equipment Eleiko and the new classes that are due to come into effect soon. I can exercise freely as in that the gym is very spacious and if you ever need any help from anyone even from the members as sometimes the PT’s can be a bit busy with their clients you’ll never feel left out. I love the attentive staff and the friendly feel of the gym and it always makes me feel valued and as if it is like my, ‘second home.’ I love the classes and you will always come back guaranteed wanting more. You’ll end up making friends (for life) and enjoy having everything on your doorstep ie. Crèche, swimming pool, mindfulness, (business work in the canteen), cycle, pump, dancing and many more. The reception staff are always at your beck and call and always go above and beyond for you. I cannot recommend this gym enough. ❤️. Negative experience: This gym does a lot, but it does nothing well. I won’t be renewing simply because I can’t use the gym enough due to the terribly short opening hours. It’s 2023, closing at 8pm and 10pm is ridiculous. The gym floor is ok but is getting really dated now, cheaper facilities have better, more up to date equipment and this place just hasn’t kept up with the times.

Negative experience: Use to love virgin, but I have been waiting for a refund for over 100 pounds from them and have had to chase them at the front desk 5 times already and still nothing. They have owed me a refund for over a month now, I keep getting told I will receive it and never do. I’ve tried calling multiple times and no one ever answers, I rang for 45 mins straight once and still nothing. Prices are far to high but then also don’t like to give you the money back like they’re short of it.

Negative experience: Main pool shut this morning. This is not good enough Virgin Active. Better servicing and investment is required at this site. Not what you pay nearly £60 a month for. Staff are excellent but let Down by Head Office.

We look forward to speaking with you soon. UPDATE: Thanks Ed. Yesterday, we conducted the pre-open pool test to discover a fault in the pool. Essentially, there was in issue with pumping chlorine into the pool. Our maintenance manager was called out to resolve, but it took around 80mins after opening to bring the chlorine levels back within safe parameters. The pool normally opens at 8am but we had to open at 9.20am instead. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience here. We are pleased we were able to get the pool up and running as quickly as we did, so that the pool could open and be safe for our members.
Negative experience: Like most comments on here it saddens me to leave 2 stars. The 2 stars are for the staff because they are very helpful and friendly but due to the behaviour of other members I have decided to cancel my membership. I have seen on so many occasions young men spitting on the floor in the steam sauna ( it was a good clear out kind of spit) and also around the spa area, swearing and in general being very loud. I did report one of the spitting incidents to a member of staff who said she would radio someone to come and clean it but no-one came. It's a crying shame because there are no other gyms that offer the facilities virgin have near me.

Fantastic experience: I started at Virgin in March 2022. Not only is the gym absolutely brilliant but the staff are too. I began PT Sessions in August with Jon Ainsley and he is incredible. If anyone is looking for a personal trainer who doesn't put loads of pressure on you, gives you great tips and advice and just overall makes your time in the gym enjoyable, I'd highly recommend him. I had have trouble with trainers in the past who want to train you till failure and while that works for some it puts me off. Jon isn't like that at all, he listens to your goals and supports you all the way.

Positive experience: Decent range of equipment but insanely busy In terms of your reply, yes, I've been using the club occupancy feature but it's almost always 80%+ full and the climbing wall is usually occupied with inductions and kids classes. As such, I definitely wasn't enjoying the experience and I cancelled my membership last month; it expires tomorrow. Thanks for the attempt at keeping my custom though.

Negative experience: The worst health club I’ve ever been to staff are very unprofessional and power hungry avoid at all costs specifically if your are a person of colour. Management is rife with racism i should have looked at older reviews before joining if you struggle with hidden disability’s mental health issues health problems etc etc avoid for your own sake.

Positive experience: Things seem to have improved since my last review regarding customer services so I’m bumping it up to 4 stars. This is a very well equipped gym with great facilities for families so I have always been pleased with this aspect. The reception staff are much more helpful than they were when I last posted a 3 star review. This has considerably improved my experience of the gym. We had a mixed experience of the crèche when little one was a baby but she’s loving it now (age 2). To get to five star… Coffee in the cafe could be better. Changing rooms could be cleaner in family changing - they are dirty first thing in the morning.

Positive experience: Amazing gym, clean facilities but opening hours are no good for a gym. Over the years opening hours have been reduced - I was a member many years ago. I will be moving to a 24 hour gym so that I can utilise gym facilities more. Amongst my busy work schedule, I am usually free around 9-10PM which is when this gym is either closed or about to close.

Negative experience: Went here to see if it would be a suitable gym to use. Wasn't informed of the parking restrictions out. Got slapped with a fine by a company called MET Parking for the smallest of time infractions. I wasn't notified by the staff about the possibility that would happen. None of the gym equipment seemed to be connected to a network so unable to track workout. Very few staff members around and changing rooms were a mess.

Negative experience: Appalled. I'd been a member for over a decade on off and cancelled (you have to do this in person at the desk.) I was shocked to see the payments were still coming out of my account 5 months later. No one got back to me on this despite promises when I raised it with both the main centre and local branch. When you cancel your subscription, you are given no paperwork other than a promise that it is done. The paradox is, it's up to the customer to prove it's been cancelled.

Cancellations can be requested either via our App, email, live chat or through a phone call with our Membership Support team. Once a cancellation has been processed, the member receives an email confirmation within 72 hours. I can see you spoke with the Club yesterday with your feedback and you now have a cancellation in place for next month.

Negative experience: Amazing staff and service at the counter/till as they were extremely helpful. However, a huge disappointment in the swimming area. It turns out GUEST PASS is for no use. I wasn’t allowed to swim due to me not being a member, so what’s a guest pass for? And I wasn’t even allowed in the Spa Closure area. Apparently to swim I needed an adult but as I had 2 adult aged family members they then said no I can’t swim because I need a test to swim?? What is the reason for a GUEST PASS? Very disappointed.

Negative experience: Such a shame I have to be leaving this review. I love this gym, I love the staff and the whole feel to the place, my 2* review does not reflect on the staff or the facilities as I think they are great. My 2* review is based on the fact that I feel this sites membership scheme is a financial trap. I joined on the 4th of September on a month to month rolling contract "in my experience a month to month contract is supposed to be a month to month not anything different" Unfortunately this is not the case. I rang up today to try and cancel my October contract as I will not be in the country. Unfortunately this did not go down well, as I was explained by staff that I have to give a 30 day notice to close my account with them. This means I would have to cancel my monthly contract on the day I sign up to successfully only have 1 month at virgin. I then went on and asked what if I was to cancel the payment through my bank, to they're response they said I would have debt collection after me as I am bound to them... This is definitely not a customer friendly answer. I now have to spend time out of my day going through the complaints department as I did not receive nor was I made aware of the company t&Cs which are no where to be found on the website regarding month to month contracts. It is such a shame I have to leave this information here but I need to protect as many people as possible from clear financial robbery. Sorry virgin but this needs to be dealt with.

Fantastic experience: Virgin Active Sheffield is a great gym. It has almost everything you could need, plus friendly helpful staff and is, in my opinion good value for money. The only downside is the parking limit, but I appreciate why they have to have it and it's not a problem if you remember to enter your reg plate at the reception desk (if you're planning to stay more than 4 hours that is).

Negative experience: For the price you pay this gym could and should be a whole lot better. - it once had computers in the cafe for public use, now replaced with empty desks - the jacuzzi is always cold, it should be heated, it also takes forever for the jets to come on whereas other clubs have them on constantly - someone obviously very intelligent decided to situate the grid area directly above the spa, if you’re lucky enough to have some type of cross fit nut or weight slammer working out you’ll hear the thuds of the weight constantly while you’re trying to relax - the equipment hasn’t changed here in years, there’s smaller gyms with a wider variety of machines - the water fountains dispense warm water, (dead leg in the pipework) - the opening times are ridiculous for 2022, it should at least be open until midnight if not 24hrs - the toilets should be checked and cleaned more, it’s hit and miss whether or not you’re gonna be met with someone’s mess EDIT: it’s not necessary to find any membership. The points are valid and if you visit yourself you’ll find that out first hand.

We can go through each point one by one and if there's anything else you'd like to discuss, please do not hesitate to get in touch. The computers were removed from all of our Clubs during the re-opening after COVID. We actually found that the desk areas were being utilised more by members as a dedicated workspace where they can work from their own laptops. Our Jacuzzi is actually a Hydrotherapy pool, so that could be why it doesn't meet your heat expectations . It is always maintained at 33/34 degrees, which is 3+ degrees warmer than our main pool. The Strength and Conditioning zone was previously a Cycle area when the club originally opened. While you can hear an occasional thud, we do have a weight limit to reduce heavy weights (specifically deadlifting) from being used in this area. Upon inspection our equipment is still robust and working efficiently. It is still in great condition given its usage. We regularly review our equipment and order replacements when required. It's difficult to work out which water fountain you are referring to, but we currently have no issues with warm supplies of water. Our opening times are longer and more user-friendly than most gyms in Sheffield, other than, of course, the 24 hour-gyms. Cleaners are on site throughout the day as well as Management who do changing room checks. Our toilets do get used a lot and we try our best to keep on top of it. Negative experience: Used to be good gym they let people come to pool area with shoes and spa area is not clean at all and steam always smell disgusting I won’t renew me contact again
