Negative experience: Is now closed. Closed without warning to any staff or members. Do not join and would not recommend any other Trugym due to senior management (overall management/directors).

Negative experience: Stevenage club. Loved it, brilliant staff. Then TruGym decided to close it....on the Queens funeral bank holiday....no notice, no warning, no communication at all to either members or staff. Poor effort. Website still has the club as available to join. Please don't. Its closed. There's no equipment in there, they stripped it all out on the day.

Positive experience: Stevenage's best value gym! Membership includes access to an aromatherapy room, a steam bath, and a sauna. Which other gyms in the area do not provide in this price range. The only disappointment is the outdated equipment. Some of the equipment is outdated, and there isn't much open space to work out in. Working out here can feel claustrophobic at times. Also, when doing flat bench press, the lights directly hit you in the eyes, which is extremely irritating. Aside from that, the gym is very nice and membership is reasonably priced. Students don't need to pay any joining fee which is great! Would recommend it if you're looking something value for your money

Negative experience: Awful gym. I moved gym because of the untidy and basic gym but Be careful of the ‘contracts’ after 4 years I was told I was in a contract and couldn’t leave straight away and had to pay for another 4 months. Robbery.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, motivated, friendly professional management and fitness staff, always there to help and support which is very important for basic customer service. With very, knowledgeable, passionate Pt's. Very clean, airy, spacious open plan environment. Plenty of free weights, cardio machines and mats. Wet/Spa and shower/locker areas is also nice, clean, spacious and very lucky for members to have at the cost. Plenty of parking, classes and amenities/facilities in the vicinity. Keep up the excellent work guy's, it's very appreciated and you're doing an amazing job through these difficult times✌

Fantastic experience: Great gym, it has all that I need.. does get busy at times which means with only 4 benches in front of the free weights you have to do something different until they become free.. Outside of peak times it's usually not an issue. Good value gym with plenty of parking.

Positive experience: A cheap, fairly small gym with most of the stuff you need. It's equipment is a bit dated and frequently out of order and has none of the bells and whistles you might expect from a more expensive gym

Fantastic experience: Good value gym, easy parking. Hours are very good, no excuses 5 am workout or late workout. Lots of classes to chose from. Can get busy but that’s what’s expected from peak times. Only thing that lets this gym down is lack of working machines. Some machines have been broken for months. Not managers fault more like owners. Can get really annoying when peak time and machines are broken! Also now lack of blue roll and cleaning spray, which can be annoying if you want to clean up a sweaty machine. But other than that always a female cleaner in the evening in the female changing room meaning the gym is nice and clean. But definitely needs an overall if competing with other gyms, machines are outdated!

Fantastic experience: Great gym, used to come years ago but air con was terrible and let it down so I left, its so much better now its fixed. Friendly staff that go above and Beyond to help everyone. Steam room and sauna is a added bonus too.

Negative experience: The bollywood dance fitness class is excellent between 8 and 9 on a Tuesday evening, however every week for months the selfish instructor in the body combat class which runs before it consistently over- runs by 10 mins. Our class has to run short because of her week in,week out. It's inconsiderate to other paying customers and professionally disrespectful to another teacher. Management need to deal with it.

Negative experience: Even for the low price they ask it is the worst gym i have ever been. Dirty is an understatment, filthy toilet reminding me of night club, never cleaned equipment, bad smell in showers.... The staff are careless and unprofessional if you manage to find one not hiding.... Machines are not maintained at all and never seemed to be repaired currently over 10% is not working properly or broken Members have no gym etiquette and the place is a mess 1 in 10 treadmill is working like when new Roof is leaking Lockers are falling appart Shame i cannot put 0 stars....

Negative experience: The vast majority of free weights have been thrown around to such an extent that they're chipped & battered & not fit for purpose. Machines need oiling & maintaining better. Showers are grimy and in desperate need of a facelift. They have recently installed new showers, but these are the ones you have to press every 20 seconds as they keep going off. At least more than one works now though. There are still loads of Fitness First branding stickers all over the place which, when you consider this has been a TruGym for over 5 years, indicates that there's been zero investment in this time. There is never anyone around to ask for help from the gym. Yes it's cheap, but a basic level of comfort even for that price should be expected.

Positive experience: Time wasting, convoluted cancellation system, well designed to sting people with "admin charges" and keep them paying long after they stop using the facilities. Shame, because it has really nice helpful staff, decent facilities for the price.

Negative experience: Some machines are out of date, instructors don't care just hang about on their phone all day, toilets and showers could do with a deep cleaning and if u miss a payment u get charged through the eyes!!!

Negative experience: Unfortunately I cannot recommend this Gym, I cancelled my Direct debit before they took final month payment, because I got my dates wrong, they placed a admin charge on top that they didn’t waver when I contacted them, to let them know I had made an error. They said it wasn’t their problem, not a good customer service at all. I won’t ever go back to them and I would recommend others to use them either. The gym itself is ok but I would like to say the changing facility is often dirty and wished they had regular cleaners.

Negative experience: Staff are very unprofessional and laugh and humiliate customers using the facilities. There are much better gyms in the local area that DON'T abuse and humiliate people with needs. One star because I have to for the review.

Negative experience: Haven't been in months. Simply because the place is falling apart. Music system is knackered. All the music is distorted and crackles. The same CD on repeat does ya head in. Equipment is antique and needs serious attention or replacing with more modern stuff. I know it's cheap and cheerful but it really needs updating.

Negative experience: This is a cheap gym,yes. But still they could put some effort and renew their very old and barely working machines. Now downstairs there is on one side a huge cardio area full of treadmills and on the other side a very small area for free weights. It feels claustrophobic and you can't get a proper workout unless you are a beginner and you don't ask much. The gym looks dark and dirty. The changing rooms and the toilets are very old as well and not very well maintained. Trugym needs a major renovation, change of layout, purchase of more serious equipment and a deep cleaning! Positive experience: Cheap, basic gym. Reasonable equipment, hardly state of the art but up to the job, and normally a treadmill free etc. Reasonable sauna & steam room area. Showers (gents at least) are minging, with black mold on the ceilings and walls etc - could really do with a really deep clean or refurb, very little has changed since it was a Fitness First many years ago, and it shows. If you just want a cost-effective basic gym, though, it does the job.

Positive experience: Not bad, inexpensive place to go to gym; however some of the running machines and equipment need renewing. Also lacks decent aircon so gets very hot in the summer.

Negative experience: been going here for Over a year now only because its round the corner from work... but cannot carry on here any longer.... The place if filthy... toilets and and showers are always wet with piss everywear. The personal trainers look scruffy and always on thier phones when training someone (in particular one bloke) And to top of Got wacked with a 25 pound admin fee because 1 payment didn't go through, even tho I tried to pay the next day. And have never missed a payment, head office were rude and didn't want to know. my first review of anything in my life. DO NOT JOIN HERE

Positive experience: Can get quite busy at peak times, but good range of equipment and workout areas. Staff helpful and investment is regular.

Positive experience: For the price you can't really complain or beat it. It has everything people need except a swimming pool. The range of free weight and weight resistance machines could be increased but you can get a great workout. Personally I'd like to see more specialty bars and space for barbell movements but for a commercial gym it's good enough.

Negative experience: Cheap and relatively good equipment for the price. Why one star? Staff didn't seem to have a clue. Plus customer services is awful! Once you want to cancel your membership you are getting totally ignored!

Fantastic experience: Great gym great equipment, steam room and sauna

Positive experience: Very friendly gym. And excellent value for money. Staff are great and very helpful. Large range of equipment and classes and the sauna and steam room are a great bonus. Shame there's no jacuzzi. They could keep on top of servicing, maintaining equipment a little better but it is a busy gym. My only complaint is the management don't put a stop to certain groups of users who visit as guests and do nothing but cause trouble and damage the equipment. Maybe guest passes should only be available if the guests are accompanied by paying members.

Fantastic experience: A great gym. Very cheap membership and loads of machines in excellent condition. I frequently attend the classes and they are fantastic. I always come out feeling like I've had a great work out. Staff are all very pleasant and helpful. It's great value for money. I really am baffled by some of the reviews on here...

Negative experience: This has got from bad to worse. The equipment has seen better days and needs replacing. Apart from the studio rooms, there's no air con, instead there's big fans. The steam room keeps breaking down, and why is the light so bright in the sauna room? The speakers are fudged - the music (which is the same disc played over and over again) sounds distorted. No one wipes the equipment down properly after using it so there's loads of sweat/drip marks. Some of The showers don't work properly, it throws out cold and hot, so it's not mixing. The only good thing I can say about it is the opening times during the week, thar being at 5am. I guess you get what you pay for....
